Work Text:

Daphne walked up the steps of the Stark Mansion, her eyes looking around eagerly. When she had received the message that Tony Stark wanted to see her, she had jumped at the opportunity. In her mind, that meant that her work as an assassin was getting recognised. The big, illustrious Tony Stark was asking for her.

Knocking on the door, she stepped inside, her heart racing in excitement. When someone opened the door and guided her into the living room, she looked around in awe.

“Miss Greengrass?” Tony asked, leaning forward to rest his arms on his knees. He smiled excitedly at her.

“Yes,” Daphne answered. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr Stark.”

“Oh, no, the pleasure is all mine.” Tony paused. “So, I’ve heard that you can find anyone and eliminate them. Very clean, no questions asked.”

“Yes.” Her heart beat wildly in her chest as she waited for Tony to get to the point. Something about him unnerved her.

“You can?” He arched a brow at her.

“Yes, Mr Stark, I’m very good at what I do.” Daphne smiled, knowing that her magic gave her the advantage over most of her opponents. She was skilled with a wand, and that made her lethal.

“Perfect. I have someone that my upper management needs taken care of.”

“I didn’t realise that you answered to any sort of upper management,” Daphne quipped, arching a brow at him.

“After what happened in Sokovia, I don’t have much of a choice,” Tony grumbled. “Here’s his address. He’s known as the Falcon.”

Daphne took the address. “I’m on it, thank you, Mr Stark. I’ll contact you when the job is complete.”

Daphne headed right to the address that the Falcon frequented, eager to get the assignment over with. She had plans later on that she was looking forward to.

She Disapparated, landing at the address. It was a small apartment, and she stealthily made her way up the stairs. Moving to the door, she pointed her wand at it and whispered, “Alohomora.

The door swung open, and with her wand raised, she slipped into the dark apartment. There was a light on in what she assumed was the bedroom, so she made her way there.

As she was walking, she stepped on a section of the floor that creaked under her weight. She froze, closing her eyes.

“Who’s there!” a loud, male voice shouted.

Daphne’s eyes flung open. She recognised that voice… But no... It couldn't be...

The hallway light came on as the Falcon stormed into the hallway.

Her heart ached. “Sam?” she whispered, recognising her boyfriend standing before her.

He froze. “Daphne? How did you get this address?” he asked, looking at her warily. He lowered the gun that he was holding.

“You’re the Falcon?” she asked, eyes wide. She lowered her wand, trying to figure out what she was going to do.

“Who told you that?” Sam pressed.

“Stark put a hit on you.” For the first time in her life, Daphne didn’t want to be an assassin in this tough spot… She just wanted to be a normal girl with a boyfriend... Not an assassin, who took on a job to kill her boyfriend.

"Shit," Sam said.

"You're telling me." Daphne bit her lower lip.

"Are you going to kill me?" he asked, looking at her.

Daphne shook her head. "I could never," she admitted softly. "But, I've made a pretty big enemy for myself by not completing this job."

Sam nodded. "Well, you might as well make yourself at home and I'll tell you everything." He looked at her. "You can also tell me how you ended up taking a hit from Tony Stark."

Daphne nodded. It was time they both came clean.
