Chapter Text

It's the beginning of spring break.

Sunny looked out of the car window spacing out as he had watched the endless expanse of concrete and metal give way to the lush green of the quite large forest that seperated the city and Faraway.

He lied to his mom, said he wanted to go see his friends for the week.

He knew what he was really going back to Faraway for;

To drown himself in that lake.

Even though it took time, and lots of messaging back and forth between everyone, he somehow had miraculously earned their forgiveness.

Even despite all that effort he went through to stay connected despite the distance, to stay friends like they had promised each other, no matter what.

Something deep inside him always thought that he never deserved such kindness from them at all, even if he bested Omori, he'd been right to a degree.

They all should be hating him, he doesn't deserve forgiveness like this.

He was abruptly stirred from his thoughts as the car came to a stop in front of Faraway Park, his mother speaking up to let him know they'd arrived. His hand closed around one of the straps of the bag he'd brought with him, packed with changes of clothes.

It wasn't like he'd need them for long, but he really needed to sell this lie to his mother, so he packed several changes of clothes, a far cry from the usual formal attire he always wore around, for some reason, he actually packed sweaters, shirts, sweatpants and shorts and the like.

He hopped out, quickly slinging the bag across his back, turning to his mother who'd been smiling at him.

"Alright sweetie, i'll come pick you up back in front of here at the end of the week, just remember to have fun and stay safe, okay?~"

A simple nod is all he gave his mother in response, giving her a small smile in response.

He waved as he watched her drive away, slipping his other arm through the other strap. He looks around trying to remember exactly which way to go to get to the lake they found one year when they were all younger, and he hadn't committed horrible Sororicide, and taken Mari from everyone. Something ticking in his head, he started walking quietly, not aware how he was being followed vaguely by somebody else now.

He was recognized as he had crossed the street, but not by anyone he was particularly close to when he had left Faraway.

He wasn't paying them much attention as they lagged behind him, honestly, he had a goal to carry out.

Between roads and sidewalks he weaved, thinking vaguely on how he really was about to go through with this. Everyone would be happier, he reasoned, they wouldn't have to waste energy with a murderer like him at least, another reason stirring in the back of his head was that they'd get over his death faster, he didn't think he was as likeable as Mari, how could he be? He barely spoke, while Mari was like a ray of sunshine, even on the darkest of days.

Before he knew it, pavement turned to grass and dirt, and he made his way through trees and low hanging branches. Eventually though he made it to the clearing, the familiar shape of it was somewhat comforting, to a degree.

He made his way to the dock, setting the bag down at the edge of it, he'd left his wallet in there, and he pulled his phone out of his pocket, checking the time.

Exactly twelve in the afternoon, it had been a few hour drive from the city to his dropoff point at the park, and he assumed his little walk here took up a sizable chunk of time for him to get here.

Whatever.

He stuffed his phone in a side pocket in the bag, turning to the lake, if he had second thoughts he'd just come back and text one of his friends where he was, at least. He made his way across the dock, wood creaking gently as he got to the edge.

Looking down he saw his own warbling reflection, staring back at him with the same deadpan he's always wore most of his life at this point. He . . . Feels sorry for himself, for some reason, sorry for the fact that he was the one to live that night, and not his wonderful sister.

That wouldn't matter though, soon, he'd be seeing her soon, in the end.

A sigh as he stood there, almost annoyed with himself.

"Well, now is as good a time as any, i guess, i came this far."

With his first spoken words since he came back to Faraway, he took a step off of the pier, letting gravity do the work soon after that.

Splash!

It's cold, sapping all the heat from his body as he's dragged further and further down into the depths of the lake. He feels instant regret surge within him at that moment, but knows its too late to really start struggling, there wasn't going to be a Hero, or a Mari like the last two times.

He'd dug his own grave with this one, letting his body be taken further down. He'd twisted and turned in the water as he sunk, facing up as rays of light pierced the dark depths, Sunny seeing the warbling image of the sun at high noon.

I'll. . . I'll see you soon Mari. . . I'm sorry, everyone, I never did deserve your forgiveness for what I did that night, but at least you won't have to deal with me anymore. . .

Sunny felt his eyelids getting heavier and heavier as they slowly came to a close, the last thing he remembers seeing was something blotting out that image of the warbling sun.

And then everything went dark soon after.
