"You're Cold." (So Let's Cuddle)

Summary:

During a mission, there's an unexpected blizzard. They have some supplies already stocked up but need to preserve them if they want to stay warm during the week-long mission. Thankfully, Todoroki has his quirk if Bakugou will only admit that he's cold.

Work Text:

"Goddammit!" Bakugou growls as he stares out the window, wishing for a moment that he could gain another quirk and melt all the quickly falling snow outside.

"I know," Todoroki says softly, frowning as the snow piles higher and higher outside. "This will make our mission a bit more difficult."

Bakugou rolls his eyes. "A bit? Yeah, sure. Even with your quirk, it'll be hard finding the villains' hideout once this calms down."

Todoroki hums and moves back, going over to the fireplace and inspecting what supplies they have. When he checked the weather before this mission, there had been no warning of any kind of storm, much less a blizzard in the middle of March, so they hadn't thought to gather wood beyond what the cabin already had stocked.

After a quick assessment, he looks back up to see Bakugou still glaring out the window. "Glaring at the storm won't make it end any faster, you know."

Bakugou whips around to glare at him instead, Todoroki looking at him impassively, raising a single eyebrow. Bakugou growls and stomps away from the window, throwing himself down onto the couch. "I know that, IcyHot."

"Hm. Well, we should have enough firewood to last us a little while, but I doubt it'll be enough to stay warm the remainder of the mission."

Bakugou grunts in response, pulling out his phone and scrolling through the texts he received that day. There's quite a few expressing concern about the blizzard, guess they found out due to the news or something.

While he's assuring them that they've got everything under control, Todoroki's doing the same with his group of friends. After they're done doing that, they eventually settle on watching a movie since they're not going to be leaving the cabin any time soon.

Around halfway through the movie, Todoroki glances over at Bakugou. He always has the best reactions if you know how to read him, so Todoroki's merely curious about what he thinks of the movie. But he notices something that makes him frown slightly.

Bakugou's shivering. It's not much and it wouldn't be noticeable if they weren't on the same couch, but it's there.

Todoroki himself doesn't feel that cold, though he's not surprised that the other is. He's used to adjusting his internal temperature without thinking as a side effect of his quirk. It's second nature to him at this point. But Bakugou doesn't have that luxury…

"What?"

Todoroki blinks at the question, realizing that Bakugou's looking at him now. "Huh?"

"You were staring at me, idiot. What is it?" Bakugou crosses his arms, a fairly common gesture for him, but Todoroki doesn't miss the way he's slightly rubbing his arms.

"You're cold." It's not a question. Not when it's so obvious to him.

"What? No, I'm not!" Bakugou's eyes look around and Todoroki huffs softly, scooting a bit closer to Bakugou.

"Yes. You are. Stop denying it." Todoroki narrows his eyes at Bakugou, honestly wishing he'd just give in already. Why protest something that's so obviously true?

His only response is a quiet growl. Todoroki raises an eyebrow and Bakugou scowls at him, though it's honestly closer to a pout than a true scowl. "Fine. I am cold. What of it? There's a damn blizzard outside! It'd be weird if I weren't cold."

"Mm, true," Todoroki says, scooting even closer to him and pressing his left arm against Bakugou's right. He subtly activates his quirk enough to send a soothing wave of heat over the two of them and Bakugou lets out a soft sigh, almost slumping against Todoroki's side.

"Fuck. Why weren't you doing that earlier?" He asks, fighting the urge to curl into Todoroki's side and bask in the warmth.

"I assumed that if you were cold you would say something, but I forgot who I'm dealing with," Todoroki says with a wry smile. "Mr. I'd Rather Explode Than Emote in Front of Other People."

Bakugou growls and Todoroki chuckles softly, the sound dampening Bakugou's annoyance like water putting out a fire. "You're one to talk. So can we go back to watching the movie now?"

Todoroki glances at the screen and something in him melts when he realized that Bakugou paused it when he was spacing out earlier, clearly wanting to watch it together. "Yeah."

During the second half of the movie, Todoroki shifts to have his arm around Bakugou, his face heating up a little at the gesture. Bakugou cuddles into him, though he'd deny it if anyone asked. Obviously, he'd want to be near the source of heat. No other motives here whatsoever, no way.

As the credits roll across the screen, Todoroki looks down at Bakugou, melting a little when he realizes that Bakugou is asleep holding onto him like he's a stuffed animal. He glances at his phone for the time and nods to himself, turning the TV off and shifting a bit to lift Bakugou into his arms, shushing him softly when he grumbles some.

"Come on, darling. Let's get you to bed." Todoroki mumbles softly, carrying Bakugou into his bedroom. They did have two for this trip, but if he puts Bakugou in his own bedroom, he'll just get cold again and come seek out the warmth. And he really can't deny that he'd regret missing a chance to cuddle Bakugou.

Todoroki tucks him in before going to get ready for bed, sliding in and pulling Bakugou into his arms. "Goodnight, Bakugou," Todoroki says softly, hesitating for a moment before kissing Bakugou's forehead softly, thinking him too deeply asleep to notice.

Once Todoroki falls asleep, Bakugou shifts some to brush his thumb over Todoroki's cheek, his heart still pounding from the way Todoroki called him 'darling.' They definitely need to have a talk, but for once, Bakugou's not quite so sure that Todoroki will reject him. And that thought alone sends him into the sweetest sleep he's had in quite some time.
