It was a calm evening. Lumi and Dark Meta Knight had went out on an all-day hike through the woods on Popstar, and they ended the day by cuddling and playing card games in Dark's room in the Dream Palace.
Honestly, he had no idea why he would come back to the room sometimes, when him and the rest of the Star Allies had defeated Void Termina and the Jambastion cult. He guesses that the memories stick to him fondly enough to lure him there. Or it may be home away from home. Right now, it felt more homely, now that his girlfriend was there.
Lumi had just gotten back from raiding the pantry and fridge for snacks and drinks. She sat down what she had in her arms, and settled back into her spot in their pillow-and-blanket nest on the floor. She looked tired, Dark noticed.
"What's wrong, Canary? You look fucking exhausted." Lumi sighed and rubbed at her face.
"You noticed? ...I was hoping you wouldn't." She looked away from him for a second. "It's been a while since I went on a hike that long. I've been busy with trainin' and shit, and, well..."
Lumi trailed off as Dark crawled from his side of the playing field to wrap her in his arms. "If you're tired, you're tired. It's okay. I know you had fun, and so did I," Dark mumbled into Lumi's ear. She hugged back, appreciative of the gesture and sentiment. She suddenly thought of something, and looked in Dark's eyes (well, eye).
"Could we cuddle?" Lumi asked. A small smile found itself on Dark's face, and he said a simple "Sure".
The two laid down on the floor, and Lumi grabbed a couple of pillows and a blanket. She threw the blanket over the both of them, and they got comfortable in each other's arms. Dark then suddenly remembered that the door was unlocked, and he temporarily disturbed things to lock the door. Afterwards, he came back to continue cuddling with Lumi, and the two laid peacefully. Eventually, they fell asleep.
