Notes:

Please Note :
This is my first ever crack at writing fanfiction. I am a huge fan of Valorant and the lore so this is something I wanted to try for some time now.
Not everything here is a part of the canon, some are personal canons, while some are modified ones.

Any sort of feedback to improve this is most definitely welcome!

Hope you all enjoy this little piece.
Thank you!

Chapter 1: Agents, Assemble!

Chapter Text

A warm morning greeted the world as the birds chirping filled the surroundings of VALORANT PROTOCOL HQ. A headquarter is cleverly hidden inside the wilderness and mountains of a long-forgotten forest. A base set up in the middle of nowhere, protected with an untraceable matrix created by Killjoy to keep it secure and far away from the reaches of Kingdom Corp. This base was the home to all the Radiant and Non-Radiant Agents of the Valorant Protocol who had decided to join forces under Brimstone’s command to take a stand against the evil corporation.

This base was originally a hideout Brimstone and his old comrades used in their missions for safety purposes, and while Valorant Protocol already had a base in the U.S., they had to relocate when the Kingdom Corp. found out about it, launching a heavy attack against it, which the then handful of agents couldn’t sustain against. Somehow making it out alive without any casualties, the team regrouped here, and over time, with new agents and with new technology, they transformed this little hideout into a full-blown advanced HQ that could suffice all their needs. The addition of it being extremely close to a narrow, but deep river bank made it easier for them to commute as they had access to vehicles for air, land, and water.

Training grounds, personalized areas for agents to practice, rest, hang out, play, eat and do their everyday things. While many agents had their differences and didn’t see each other eye to eye, everyone would maintain the harmony of the place. Some quarrels would still break out, but as time progressed, agents would come to peace with it or just learn to avoid each other cleverly.

This day was no different. While some Agents were resting from their previous missions, some were already awake and busy on their work or training, some were even out for their own missions, while 4 Agents in the base were suiting up for theirs. A mission into an unchartered territory that no one had faced before. Sova, the Russian Hunter was in charge of this mission and with him, joining were –Omen, Killjoy, and the Radiant Queen – Reyna.

Suited up for their mission, they all stepped out of their private rooms and into the reporting area in the middle of the headquarters. Sova was the first to reach, waiting for others, he double-checked all his equipment, making sure his bow was fine as Reyna strutted her way down to him as well.

“Ola, the leader, getting ready to hunt?” she asked with a cheeky smile gazing at his bow.

Passing on a chuckle, Sova replied “Da! Always…” He said folding his bow and tugging it on his side.

“Although this mission might not be like the usual ones so, let’s see!”.

Reyna shrugs rolling her eyes a bit, “I’ll be fine even with just one soul to devour, it would mean it’s a successful mission to me!” she says as her radiant tattoo glows and she rolls up her fist towards the end.

Then joins Killjoy with a backpack, her signature looks, and an enthusiastic smile.

“Good morning!” she greets Sova before turning her gaze to Reyna - “…Reyna.”.

“Killjoy” Reyna replies with a slight nod.

This duo was known for their issues that stemmed way back into the past and even though they had to come to peace with it, well, sort of. They both knew not to get into each other’s way. Although over time they had grown some decent amount of respect for each other and their ways of being, they still had their differences, just that they could now exist around each other with it without one wanting to kill the other.

Seeing the tension already build up, Sova quickly chimes in by greeting Killjoy

“Hello, Killjoy. All set for the mission?”.

Her face brightening up again, she spoke “Yep! Got my backpack, my gadgets-”

she holds her left forearm up showing her little wristband with her bots configured on

“-and most importantly, my brain! Haha!” she says chuckling while pointing at her brain which receives a chuckle and a nod from Sova as well.

“Where’s the spooky ghost boi? He is on this mission too, right?” Killjoy adds.

Sova goes to speak something but abruptly stops as his eyes trail behind Killjoy. Killjoy waits for him to speak up before looking at him and snapping her fingers at him

“Hello? You there?”

She asks before Sova looks at her and then again behind her. Killjoy a bit confused looks at Reyna who has already been wickedly smiling in anticipation gazing behind Killjoy. Realizing what might be up, Killjoy’s shoulders slouch down

“Awh he’s behind me isn’t he?” she asks gulping and nodding to herself.

Omen had made it cleared that while he didn’t mind it, he wasn’t particularly a fan of being called a ‘Spooky Ghost Boi’.

“Well, you gotta face her girl…”

she murmurs to herself before slowly turning around as she spoke up

“Okay! Okay, I’m sor- rrrryy...??”

she turns around to find no one there, which confuses her even more.

“Guys? Why were you acting weird there’s no one behi-” she says turning back to the team only to be greeted with Omen right in front of her leaning in with his face right in front of hers.

“Boo!”

Omen says, surprising the genius, as Killjoy stumbles on her back foot and falls to the floor which gets a little laugh from both Sova and Reyna.

“Ow… I guess I had that coming. Sorry Omen” she says while fixing her glasses, as she raises her arm up hoping someone would help her up. Sova goes for it before Brimstone speaks into their earpieces,

“We are ready to move, report to the main door in 1 minute.”

Interrupted, Sova places his fingers on the earpiece and nods at the statement and the others

“We should get going.”

Seeing Killjoy still on the floor, Sova cheekily asks Reyna to help her up

“Reyna, mind helping her?”

which earns a stern glare from Reyna. Still staying hopeful she would help, Sova maintains eye contact before Reyna shakes her head and grabs Killjoy’s arm, lifting her up in a swift move without any effort.

“Thank you, Reyna.”

Says Sova with a nod and a soft smile which gets a response in form of a flat-toned

“You’re welcome”

which she says glaring at Sova and then at Killjoy before walking away from them towards the main exit. Killjoy says in a soft voice

“thanks… Reyna...” before sighing and walking away as well.

Sova and Omen shortly follow.

“Why do you try to put them together so much?”

asks Omen over the little interaction.

“They are better than this, their past, was a series of unfortunate events and mistakes that neither had control over and I know, that somewhere deep, they both know it, they both understand that. It’s just that neither are ready to confront each other to that level. They can be a formidable team, Omen. They just need to realize that.”

“Hmm… Very well, I’d be lying if I said I disagree with you about Reyna and Killjoy, but know, what you are doing, or trying to do, can lead to dangerous waters. Stay vigilant Hunter, for one wrong step could take you to places and situations you don’t wish to be.”

reverted Omen as if it came from something very personal. Sova nodded and acknowledged his advice as they both make their way towards the door to Brimstone’s reporting point.
