Work Text:

Jordan winced at the look on Sarah’s face. His wife stood in the doorway to their house, hands on her hips, glaring at him. He knew he should have taken the time to heal up some more after he’d gotten punched in the face by that stupid robot. Usually the things he, Jon and his dad went up against couldn’t hurt them, but somehow this one had been different.

Jon had bruised ribs (and would probably receive the same treatment from his own wife when he came home as Jordan was getting from Sarah), Jordan had a black eye and their dad had hurt his shoulder when he’d wrestled with the thing. Mom wouldn’t be pleased, either.

“Didn’t you learn how to duck?” Sarah asked sounding exasperated. But there was a hint of worry in her voice, too.

“Actually, no,” Jordan replied with a sheepish little grin and leaned in to press a quick kiss to her lips. “It’s usually not necessary, you know.”

“Really? That’s your excuse? ‘It’s usually not necessary’?” She glared at him some more and then said, “Go to the bedroom before the kids see you like that. Maybe you can convince the cat to share her spot in the sun with you ‘till you’re all healed up.”

Jordan laughed. “Alright, Luna and I will just have a little nap in the sun, then.”

Sarah shook her head at him and Jordan sped up the stairs to their bedroom where the cat lay curled on the comforter, dozing in a patch of sunlight streaming in from the open window.

He knew, he’d be healed up in a couple minutes and then he could go and join the kids and his wife for lunch. In moments like these he was really grateful that all it took was a little sunlight to leave him good as new.
