Daylight Never Comes

Summary:

What happens when you wake up unaware of where you are. There are hooks all around you, and 3 more people looking just as confused as you. The last thing you want to hear is the screams of someone going to die.

Notes:

Hi, Frosty here. Please be aware that this is my first story on AO3. I have been slacking for a while but finally decided to write something. I feel like DBD is a great start, seeing how I’ve been playing it for a month straight. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this fanfic. ❤️

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Watch Your Step

Chapter Text

Your woken up abruptly by the sound of crackling. Opening your eyes, you’re met with darkness. The sky has no color, the deepest shade of black you’ve ever seen. Getting into your feet, you’re met with broken walls and rocks scattered about.

’Where am I?’, you think to yourself. Taking note of your surroundings, you notice that some of the walls have square shapes cut out of them.

Before you can take another look, rustling sounds appear from your left. Thinking quickly, you run the opposite direction hiding behind a nearby structure.

As the rustling subsides, you hear a heavy footstep just beyond the windowed wall. Being as quiet as possible, you make your way to the outcropping. Just as you reach out you hear the sound of metal.

*clink* … *chink*

As the sound stops you hear a heavy breath, as if the air is thicker than solid rock. It breathes methodically like a heart beat. It’s starts to move away before halting. The moment it freezes, your blood runs cold. Your sixth sense telling you not to move.

What is going on’, your mind races for answers. The feeling fades as you hear footsteps leave the area.

Before moving, you peek over the edge of the window. Lying there, in the grass, you see the faint outline of a bear trap.

“I’ve got to get out of here!”, you tell yourself, as if that was supposed to help. The next thing your instincts tell you is to find a way out.

Keeping to the surrounding edges of wherever you are, you spot a towering wall. On this wall however, is a metal gate with a panel just to the left of it. Running to the panel, you mutter to yourself, ”Oh thank god!” You flip the lever down but nothing happens. You try once more ending with the same result.

“OH COME ON!!”, you yell without thinking, causing the crow next to you to fly away. You turn to look where the crow flew of to.

Leveling your vision, you see someone running in your direction. Next plan of action: Find other people. You start in the direction they’re running, hoping to meet in the middle.

As you move their way, they lock eyes with you. They have so many emotions in their eyes. Fear, relief, confusion, sadness. These were the same ones you felt when you realized you weren’t in control. The person stops running for them to catch their breath. You take this as an opportunity to get closer to them. They are bent over, hands on their knees, as if they’re on their last bit of life left.

Stopping in front of them, you ask the most obvious question, “Where the hell are we?”. The person looks up to you, finally able to catch their features. He looks to be in his 20’s, black hair, slightly disheveled, wears glasses, and a look of terror on his face. He’s wearing a nice shirt and tie, and a pair of slacks.

Finally he says something, “If I knew do you think I’d still be here?”. He sounds scared out of his mind, a nervous wreck. You try your best to calm him down. You place your hand on his shoulder, “Hey, were okay for now. Who are you?”.

Surprisingly, he perks up at your question. “Dwight Fairfield, pleasure to meet you.”, he says with a grin on his face. Guess he can be polite while in a life or death situation. You barely notice his outstretched hand, which you take firmly. “(Y/N) (L/N). Nice to meet you too.”, you manage to say. As if everything had to go wrong, you hear the high pitched screams of another victim.

Both you and Dwight snap your heads to the direction of the sound, fear filling both of your bodies. Before you can even think, you don't even notice yourself sprinting towards the next possible survivor. Dwight decides the best plan of action is to follow you. Without even losing breath you skid to a stop. You look at the sight in front of you. There, hanging from a hook almost 10 feet high, is a girl. Her chest is covered in blood and she struggles to get off.

Dwight finally makes his way to you before pulling you down with him. "Oh my god. What is happening?!", he whispers to you. You focus your attention not on the girl, but the burly man standing just in front of it. Finally, you can see what monster is playing with you. He stands at a towering height, with a very burly build. He has a bald held, his face covered with the mask of a murderer. At his side, his hand holds the biggest cleaver you've ever laid eyes on.

The man kneels down and your suspicions are finally confirmed. With the 'clink' of metal, a fresh bear trap has been set. You have found: The Trapper.
