Work Text:
You and Din never really had a dating phase. There just wasn’t time for fun dates when you were constantly on the run or traveling through hyperspace. But that didn’t mean you two didn’t make sure to spend time together that didn’t involve shooting, running, fleeing or getting injured.
While traveling and trapped on the Razor Crest you two often sat close together, most of the time with you on his lap while he sat in the pilot seat, his arms tightly wrapped around you as your back was pressed against his chest. You two would then stare quietly at the marvelous silver and blue streaks of the galaxy zipping past, just enjoying the silence for once and each other’s presence. Sometimes you talked about whatever came to mind. Dreams, ideas, plans. You often told him about your childhood while he told you about the Mandalorians, their traditions and their way of life. You always listened carefully, nodding interested and excited. Din was still rather hesitant about sharing his past with you but you didn’t mind that, you never and would never push him to reveal more than he was comfortable with. You just enjoyed every little detail he decided to share and the ones you figured out on your own. Like how he loved it when you were sitting on his lap and absentmindedly drew patterns on the inside of his hands while he talked or when you silently sang to yourself when you were bored or when you tried to get the Child to fall asleep. He never said those things out loud but you knew he liked them, he liked to listen to you just how you liked to listen to him talk. Because sometimes it felt like a precious privilege to you when your life was otherwise filled with the constant need to run or fight or shout.
And when you had to land on another planet for repairs or fuel, you two would always try to enjoy something while being there. And if it only was standing in front of a street booth and looking for a new little stuffed companion for the little one together or buying new food items to try later on the Razor Crest, ignoring the stares of the other customers and just enjoying how normal it felt for a few seconds, even though it definitely wasn’t.
It took some time but you two figured out what you could do together, what worked and what not. And you definitely preferred the adventure of finding things you two and the Child enjoyed and wanted to do for fun a lot more than fighting off other bounty hunters.
