Work Text:
Kevin Day has a fan account.
Of himself, actually.
It started off as a dare; one night, when Nicky had managed to drag both Aaron and Kevin to play with him in the living room.
“Earth to kevin!” Nicky snapped his fingers in front of Kevin’s eyes.
Kevin looked up, diverting his gaze from the small dot on the floor he had been staring at for the past few minutes, meeting Nicky’s grin with confusion on his face, “hm?”
“Truth or Dare?”
Kevin didn’t think twice about his answer. “Dare.”
Nicky grinned, “I dare you to create a fan account of yourself. No- no-” Nicky waved a finger in front of Kevin's face when he had begun to protest. “You said dare- this is your dare.”
Kevin sat back down, relenting as he picked up his phone and opened Instagram.
He quickly set up the account, using an image he’d found of his face on pinterest as a profile picture.
“What should I put on the bio?”
Nicky seemed about to speak, but he was cut off by Aaron, who had been observing their exchange amusedly. “He puts the exy in sexy”
Nicky laughed, and, at Kevin’s roll of eyes, he added, “you really do, Kevin.”
Kevin huffed, “you guys aren’t funny,” but nevertheless, did as they said.
“Wait, wait, wait- should I follow you?”
Kevin shot nicky an ‘are you shitting me’ kind of look, “No. That would be weird.”
Nicky clicked his tongue, “rude but okay.”
“Plus, I don’t even want to gain followers,” Kevin added.
“We all know you do, Kevin,” Aaron had said, “even this is somehow a competition to you.”
Kevin flipped him off, “fuck off.”
The following morning, Kevin had fully forgotten about the account.
Until he checked his phone.
“Holy shit,“ Kevin said as he took a bite from an apple.
“What?”
Kevin raised his gaze to look at Aaron, who was sitting on the counter, legs crossed as he ate a donut. He showed him his phone, “I have one thousand followers?”
Aaron snorted, “what the fuck.”
Kevin nodded, “I haven’t even posted anything? Should I even post something? No wait- better question: what the fuck am I supposed to post?”
Aaron shrugged. “I don’t know, man. Maybe make an edit?”
“A what?”
Aaron laughed at that, “fuck, you’re dumb.”
Andrew opened the door to the kitchen, Neil trailing behind him. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing,” Kevin said.
“Kevin made a fan account.” Aaron hid his grin behind his cup of coffee.
Andrew raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say anything. The twin usually needed at least two cups of coffee before he began to function properly.
However, Neil wasn’t planning on dropping the subject. “Oh?” He inquired
“Nicky dared me.” Kevin groaned, helplessly.
“What’s the username?“
Kevin mumbled something incoherent under his breath.
“What? I couldn’t hear you.”
“Queen Kong.“
Neil let out a dry laugh, “that’s lame.”
“You’re lame.” Kevin retorted.
“Whatever.”
Kevin turned to Aaron. “What’s an edit?”
Aaron rolled his eyes, but he stood up and walked over to Kevin, snatching Kevin’s phone away from his grasp.
“Hey!” Kevin protested.
“Shut up.” Aaron ignored him as he typed something on the search bar. He leaned into Kevin, resting his head on his forearm and holding up the phone. “This.”
He pressed on a video, and it began to play.
Kevin stared awkwardly at the phone as he saw images and videos of himself dance around the screen, with an audio playing at the same time.
It was short, lasting only a couple of seconds, and when it was over, Aaron turned off the phone and gave it back to Kevin.
“That is an edit.”
Kevin took a while to respond. Then: “I’m not going to edit myself.”
“You kind of have to.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“N-”
Nicky's voice interrupted their argument. “You haaaave too, Kevin!”
Kevin rolled his eyes, pointing a finger accusingly at Aaron. “Fuck you.”
Aaron smirked, “you’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
Kevin’s eyes widened and he turned around as he began to choke on his coffee.
Nicky laughed loudly, whistling suggestively and patting Aaron on the back before exiting the kitchen.
Aaron turned to look at Kevin. He caught a glimpse of his reddening cheeks, before Kevin left the kitchen too, making the blond’s smirk widen.
And, if Kevin didn’t deny Aaron’s accusation, well, that's really not anyone's business but theirs.
