Work Text:

Tapping the wooden sword beside his table, Choi Jung Soo rested his chin at the back of his other free hand. He just transferred today to his new high school, it was supposed to be next year after he enters university but his parents decided it would be better to transfer him now while he was still in his last year in senior high school so as to make already familiar with the city life of Seoul.

A few of his classmates had already talked to him but since there are only less than 15 minutes left before the class starts they are all now sitting at their own tables, either chatting with their seatmates or opening their textbooks. Choi Jung Soo thought he would fall asleep the next second out of boredom when he heard a voice of a man screaming at the school grounds.

Choi Jung Soo stopped tapping his hand on his wooden sword then as he tilted his head to see what’s going on down below their building. He was sitting near the window so it was easier for him to see the commotion. Choi Jung Soo’s eyes landed on a thin figure running away from the male teacher who was stationed at the school date then. The young man was probably around the same age with Choi Jung Soo and was only wearing a white shirt as he ran away.

“Oh, what’s going on?” one of Choi Jung Soo’s classmates asked as they stood up from their seats and walked towards the window of their classroom.

They also probably heard the loud screamings at the school ground and wanted to see the commotion when one of the students near Choi Jung Soo’s table whispered, “Isn’t that… Kim Rok Soo?”

‘Kim Rok Soo?’

The name piqued Choi Jung Soo’s interest as he continued to listen to his classmates gossip while his eyes never left the young student who was still running at the school grounds away from the male teacher that was chasing him.

“Kim Rok Soo can actually run?”

“Hahaha this is the first time I’ve seen him run so fast, not even our physical education class can make him like that?”

“He’s also wearing his glasses, probably as a disguise, he’d never worn them at school.”

“He’s still as smart as ever for not wearing his uniform, he’s one of the few who dress neatly, the teacher would immediately notice him hahahaha.”

“Rok Soo-ssi fighting!”

“Let’s help him later, he worked too hard early in the morning hahaha.”

Choi Jung Soo’s classmates start laughing then before they disperse and sit back on their table like nothing happened, they didn’t even finish watching the whole commotion like it wasn’t related to them at all. Choi Jung Soo just raised his eyebrow and turned his gaze away when the young student’s figure wasn’t visible anymore from his eyesight.

3 minutes before the class starts, Choi Jung Soo sawe a student entering the classroom while panting, his bangs looks a bit wet due to sweat and his eyeglasses were also at the tip of his nose as if it was going to fall the next second, he only wore a white shirt and his narrowed cold eyes roam around the classroom.

“You didn’t see anything.” the young man said as he stood up straight in front of the classroom.

Choi Jung Soo’s classmates start motioning their hands like zipping their mouth one after the other to show that they will never say anything and that they didn’t see anything. The student in front nods in satisfaction then before he walks towards the vacant table in front of Choi Jung Soo, his hand working fast as he starts wearing his white sleeve polo, next the tie, then his vest and coat in one go. Choi Jung Soo was truly amazed by this classmate's efficient work as a student who was caught late and survived.

As if sensing that someone was looking at him, the student turned around then and met Choi Jung Soo whose eyes were now curved in amusement. The student removed the glasses from his eyes then before opening his mouth, “New student?”

Choi Jung Soo smiled first before answering, “Yes, I’m a transfer from Gyeongnam, Choi Jung Soo.”

“Kim Rok Soo.” the student simply introduced himself before facing the front again, his back still as straight just like when he was standing in front of class earlier.

Choi Jung Soo starts recalling Kim Rok Soo’s face then as he was running at the school ground, he looks so serious while running but it can’t hide Kim Rok Soo’s pretty cold face at all.

Maybe that’s where he fell at first sight for this man.

As the final exam before the senior’s graduation was fast approaching, everyone was now busy studying, most of them either stayed at their classroom from afternoon up to night time while some of them visited the library first to find some reference books. Today Choi Jung Soo is one of the latter as he read and studied at one of the tables at the very corner of their lecture building’s library, beside him was Kim Rok Soo who already fell asleep, his cheeks lying softly at the pages of the book he was reading earlier.

Resting his chin at his palm, Choi Jung Soo looked down and watched Kim Rok Soo who was sleeping soundly, there’s still a few minutes before dinner time so he just let the young man sleep for more.

After introducing themselves to each other during Choi Jung Soo’s first day,  he and Kim Rok Soo’s seemed to always cross paths aside from having their seat at school close to each other. There is one time where Kim Rok Soo saw Choi Jung Soo practicing his wooden sword, there is also one time where the two of them met at some convenient store in the middle of the night, or that one time where the two of them were grouped on some school project.

Choi Jung Soo wasn’t sure when it exactly started but one day he just woke up and realized the two of them already warmed up to each other. Choi Jung Soo welcoming his monday waiting for Kim Rok Soo to reach their school gate so they can walk together, ending the week days by hanging out with Kim Rok Soo at some arcade or just simply accompanying him reading his favorite webnovel while Choi Jung Soo practiced the sword art of his family, and welcoming the weekend by going to each other’s house and doing their homework together.

One day, he just woke up to the fact that his everydays are full of Kim Rok Soo.

‘I fell more deeply than I expected.’

Snapping back from his own daze, Choi Jung Soo just smiled softly down to the sleeping Kim Rok Soo as his other hand reached out and brushed away Kim Rok Soo’s bangs. Kim Rok Soo immediately reacted then as his still sleepy eyes slowly opened. Choi Jung Soo thought at the moment that he would like to see this side of Kim Rok Soo everyday.

As if he was entranced, Choi Jung Soo just gave in to his own feelings and leaned down, meeting Kim Rok Soo now awake eyes, as he whispered, “Kim Rok Soo, I like you.”

Kim Rok Soo didn’t answer him immediately, he just blinked his eyes back to Choi Jung Soo and said, “Took you long enough.” before sitting up properly, and now it was him who was looking down at Choi Jung Soo who was still frozen as he was caught off guard by Kim Rok Soo’s reply.

“You pay for my dinner tonight.” Kim Rok Soo calmly wakes him up by his words then.

Choi Jung Soo finally sat up properly too, his smiling eyes meeting Kim Rok Soo’s, as he answered, “It’s a date.”
