The droplets of rain seemed to even slow down in the moment as the scene played out around himself. Zeke Yeager, The Beast Titan, was laying on the floor of the cart that was being used to transport him. A thunder spear, rigged to his body.
“You’re about to find yourself in a titan’s mouth, listening to what it sounds like to be digested. Compared to how you stole the lives of my comrades, it sounds like a pleasant way to die.” Looking down at Zeke he shot him a look of disgust.
This was the person who just wiped out his entire squad with tainted wine which contained some of his spinal fluid.
“I didn’t steal.. I saved lives. The lives of the children they would bear from this cruel world.” Zeke murmured out loud.
Taking his blades out of his ODM gear Levi shot an icy glare at the crumpled form in front of him.
“Looks like your legs are growing back-” Ready to slice off the titan shifters legs in front of himself, Zeke let out a loud gut wrenching scream.
“Isn’t that right.. Mr. Ksaver?! I hope you’re watching!” Everything seemed to move in slow motion.
Zeke threw his head back and moved, triggering the thunder spear that was currently inside his torso. There was a blinding light and before he could realize what was happening he was in the air with debris from the cart. In the moment all Levi could think about was the excruciating pain flowing through his body. The thunder spear went off causing the explosion. Landing roughly on the ground with a loud thud he let out a loud gasp and started coughing up blood. His breath was entirely knocked out of him from the fall. Iron, it smelled like iron. Which meant that he was wounded and badly at that. Trying to open his eyes Levi felt a terrible pain, he couldn’t see out of one of his eyes and he couldn’t even sit up.
Levi was bleeding out and his vision was starting to blur in the moment and for some reason the only thing he thought of was Petra Ral. His fallen comrade that was in his squad years ago. Why? Why was he thinking of her at this moment? His vision started to blur as he saw someone with ginger hair and golden eyes or so he thought. The figure bent down besides him and pushed his bangs out of his face. Blinking a few times he wondered if he was seeing a ghost? Was he dead? Petra Ral was knelt down next to his person, eyes filled with worry. She looked the same as she did the day she died. The only exception is she wore a flowing white dress with thin straps around her shoulders. Levi’s eyes started to feel heavy as black spots danced across his vision.
“Levi, you have to stay with me. It’s not time for you to join me yet.” Gentle hands cupped his face carefully pulling him forward cradling his head.
A few tears started to flow out of his eye that wasn’t covered in blood. He felt his throat closing up and felt a sob ready to come out. His voice was raspy but managed to speak.
“Petra, you’re dead. How are you here?” She ran her hands through his jet black hair that was caked with blood.
Leaning down Petra placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. It felt warm surprisingly to Levi despite the fact that she was dead.
“I’m here because you’re on the verge of death Levi. You have much more to do still.” “Tch, you shouldn’t waste such kindness on me. I led you to your death. I promised to protect you and look at what good that did.” If he could move his body he would look away but he couldn’t.
Biting down on his lip it started to bleed. The pain was bringing him to the point of blacking out along with blood loss. But he had to tell Petra how he felt before he couldn’t see her again.
“Petra, I’m sorry. You were one of the most important people in my life and I let you down. I wanted to tell you how I felt but I didn’t want to compromise how we operated together on the field.” Shaking her ginger locks she put a finger on his lips.
“Captain, I always loved you even if I never told you while I was alive. You had never let me down. I wanted to be by your side until the end and fight for what we craved so much. Freedom. You’re still fighting and I never left your side. I may not be with you physically anymore but I am still with you in here.” She placed her hand against his chest where his heart was.
His pulse was starting to weaken. Taking in the sight of Levi she was heartbroken. If she was alive, she would have killed Zeke on sight for her Captain. But it looks like the thunder spear took care of that task or so she hopes. There was a huge gash going down his face in two places, the right side of his face permanently will be disfigured. He also was missing two fingers on his right hand as well.
“I should have told you that I felt the same way. Everyone around me dies as you know, I just regret not telling you and now you have to look at me like I am a shattered weak person.” Levi started to choke on blood that was pooling inside his mouth from the fall.
Anxiously she leaned him a forward a bit so he didn’t end up dying from choking on blood. “Levi, you were- no, are. You are the strongest person I’ve ever known. You inspired me to no end, I loved seeing you every single day. I looked up to you when I was alive. Despite all of the pain and heartache that you’ve been through you still persevere on and I admire you so much for that.” Letting out another cough Levi started to go limp in her arms.
“Petra.. I can’t see you where did you go?” His one eye that wasn’t injured she saw the light fading in it.
“I’m here Levi, I’ll never leave your side. I promise, we will be together soon. But you have things you still have left to do. Hange is coming. She is going to take care of you.”
“Things are starting to go dark.. I can’t hold on much longer. I need to sleep. You can keep talking if you want, I missed your voice.” She held him gingerly so she wouldn’t hurt him.
“I remember the first time I joined squad Levi. I was so anxious because I looked up to you for the longest time. I will never forget how it felt the first time I realized that I was in love with you Levi. I was up late and couldn’t sleep and you were sitting alone in the dining room with a cup of tea. I always thought it was so funny the way you held your tea cup. But you offered to grab me a cup of tea and listen to my worries. You always felt so out of reach to me. So far away. A hero amongst us civilians. Another thing I loved about you was how nit picky you are about cleaning. I always found it so funny that everything needed to be a certain way or spotless-.” Petra heard his breathing become shallow.
Delicately she placed her hand on his cheek and wiped away some tears that fell from his eyes along with the raindrops. “I’ll be right by your side Levi. Just close your eyes, you’ll be alright. Come morning light, you and I will be safe and sound.”
