For Full Moon Ficlet #425: Dessert

It's really a ficlet since I didn't have the energy to do more.

This is set just before section 1 of the series.

Work Text:

"If nothing else, he'll get his just desserts." Stiles said as they reviewed their plan to deal with Alan Deaton.

"Did you know that while it's pronounced like the sweets at the end of a meal, it's really spelled like the arid land," Peter offered.

"Really? It is?" Stiles asked.

"You're the research person, look it up!"

A bit of tapping and Stiles looked up. "Huh. It is."

"Would I lie to you?"

"Not about anything as trivial as this," Stiles admitted.

Peter leaned in closely. "Why would I lie to you about anything?" he asked in a silky whisper.

Stiles shrugged. "To spare my feelings. To protect something you don't think I need to know about. Things like that."

Peter sat back and considered. "You're right. I would."

"Not a big deal. Just... it's who you are and I accept it."

"That is an unexpected thing to say," Peter said gently.

"I get that we have this... attraction. The word soul-mates is too mystical but we have a great beginning. But, well, the honest truth is that we barely know each other. We just have to take the time to work it out."

Peter leaned in for a kiss.

"Sweetheart, we have time," Peter said. "I'm not going anywhere and I'm planning for a long life for both of us to give us that time."

"We each have things we don't want to talk about, secrets that are part of our pasts," Stiles nodded. "And there may be things we never tell each other. That's okay."

"Which is part of what makes us perfect for each other," Peter agreed.

"Which is why we're doing this together," Stiles brought the conversation back to their plan. "And no matter how it's spelled, that Darach is getting what he deserves very soon!"
