Work Text:
“Remind me again whose great idea it was to move Jimin, Yoongi-hyung and Hoseok-hyung back to back like this,” Namjoon says, while sitting on the floor giving Hoseok a shoulder massage, who in turn is giving Jin a shoulder massage. Jin was completely zoned out, full of food and too tired to even pay attention to his friends.
It was well after midnight; all seven of the friends were sitting on the floor or couch in Jimin and Yoongi’s new apartment; it had been a really long day They crisscrossed the city, to retrieve all of Jimin’s stuff from his dorm, which thankfully wasn’t actually that much. But the guys didn’t realize it wasn't that much because half of it was actually in Yoong’s bedroom; clothes, study materials, various bags of dance clothes and shoes. At Yoongi’s apartment, they loaded up all his stuff, which included most of the furniture. The day before, they moved Hoseok into Namjoon and Jin’s apartment. Yoongi and Jimin were getting most of the living room furniture since Hoseok had no use for it anymore. And of course, since Yoongi did a lot of work at home, he had a decent set up of producing equipment to pack and move. All of their friends were thankful they would not be involved in the trip to Daegu so Yoongi could pick up his childhood piano. He just knew his parents would try to make him take some of the boxes that he left when he moved to Seoul for college. No one wanted to be stuck with moving more stuff, so Jimin and Yoongi were going by themselves.
“Well, the lease is up Wednesday, so it had to be this weekend,” Yoongi replied. He was semi-curled up on the couch, head in Jimin’s lap with his feet tucked under Taehyung’s butt; Jimin rubbing his back soothingly.
“Ok but why didn’t we move Hoseok last weekend?” Jungkook whines, sitting back down with his re-heated noodle, handing Taehyung a pair of chopsticks so they can share.
“Last weekend, Jimin and I couldn’t get out of work since Mina and San were both off and it was my sister’s birthday party, remember? You were there.” Hoseok says, smacking him lightly on the leg.
Taehyung laughs, “No of course he doesn’t remember, someone got a little too drunk after the real adults left the bar.” Jungkook just whines and covers his face with his sweater paws.
Hoseok hums, “Fair point.”
“We really do appreciate the help from all of you,” Jimin says sleepily, “Hopefully we’ll be here for quite some time!”
“It’s a great location, so I hope so too,” Yoongi says, laughing.
The looked at apartments for only about a month and were so lucky to find one that was a decent distance between the dance studio Jimin works at and the entertainment company that Yoongi works at. It’s a bit further from campus but Jimin only has a few week left in his last semester. Taehyung and Jungkook’s apartment was close to campus, so if Jimin needed to grab food or a shower between classes or work, he was always welcome there. Namjoon, Jin and now Hoseok live a little further from everyone else, but everyone was amicable to split their time between all the apartments for dinner, game or movie nights.
“Well I hope we all stay in our respective apartments for awhile, because I do not want to pack and move stuff again,” Taehyung says with a yawn.
“Babe, we can’t live in a studio forever, you want a dog!” Jungkook says.
“Ok but we can stay where we are for at least a little while longer.”
“We should get going, I think Jin-hyung is about to fall asleep,” Hoseok says, as Jin sways back into him. “Come on Jin-hyung, let’s go home.” Jin just flops back onto Hoseok and pretends to sleep, making a loud fake snore. Hoseok blushes deep and hopes no one notices. He catches Yoongi’s eyes, who gives him a knowing smirk.
Jungkook pretty much has to pick Taehyung up in his arms to get him off the couch, “Come on lazy, we’ll have a nice hot bath when we get home.”
Taehyung perks up and practically bowls over Namjoon trying to stand up to ge to his shoes.
“I still want to know how you guys found a studio apartment that has such a big bathtub,” Yoongi says, laughing at Taehyung’s enthusiasm.
“We just got lucky hyung,” replied Taehyung, giggling with tiredness and eagerness for that hot bath.
“Halt,” Hoseok declares. Taehyung stops, balancing on one foot, trying to put on a shoe. “We are going to clean up our dinner. Get back here.”
No one argues; they all know Hoseok hates leaving someone’s home with a mess. They make quick work of it; trash in bags, leftovers in the fridge, floor pillows stacked neatly.
“See, all nice and clean,” Hoseok says, smacking his hands together.
Jimin laughs, “Hyung, this place is a mess with all these boxes, it would have been fine.”
“No Jimin,” he baps Jimin on the shoulder. “That isn’t trash.” He pulls Jimin into a bear hug (Jimin always thought he gave the best hugs) and stage whispers in Jimin’s ear, “Make sure hyung eats well and gets enough sleep, he’s so stubborn.”
“Yah, I’m right here,” Yoongi pouts.
“I know,” Hoseok says as he releases Jimin and grabs Yoongi. “I’m gonna miss you hyung, especially how grumpy you are in the morning before your coffee!” He smacks a big wet kiss on Yoongi’s cheek as Yoongi struggles to get away.
The others give tired hugs to Yoongi and Jimin and say goodbye. They close the door and turn to their new but empty apartment. They both lean against the door and let out a loud sigh.
Jimin gently takes Yoongi’s hand, “Yoongi-ah, I’m so excited we have our own place now.”
“Me too babe,” Yoongi raises their clasped hands and kisses the back of Jimin’s hand. “Minie, why don’t you take a shower while I make the bed?”
Jimin showers while Yoongi makes their bed. Nothing else is set up, but they made sure the bed was put together so they can sleep comfortably after the long day. They made sure they had clean sheets and their most comfortable duvet and pillows packed separately with their moving bags, which had their pajamas, toiletries and phone chargers.
Jimin comes out of their en suite in just his towel, hoping to find Yoongi waiting for him, but then he hears the shower in their other bathroom. Jimin notices that his favorite teddy bear, an anniversary gift from Yoongi, is sitting gently on the pillows. A big smile spreads across his face, giddy that Yoongi thought to pack it special so Jimin could have it on their first night in the apartment. Jimin put on his favorite pajamas and goes out to the kitchen to prepare his surprise for Yoongi.
Yoongi goes back to their bedroom and puts on his favorite pajamas. Guessing Jimin went back out to the living room, he heads down the hallway.
With music playing from his phone on the kitchen counter, Jimin is dancing around the kitchen with a solo cup, snacking on cheese. Yoongi starts laughing, startling Jimin, when he notices they are wearing the matching pajamas that Taehyung had gotten them for Jimin’s last birthday. It was a bit of a gag gift, since they are actually newlywed pajamas. Neither would ever admit to their friends that they both loved the gift. They were the softest pajamas Yoongi had ever felt and he loved when by chance, they wore them the same night. It was never planned, so it was always amusing.
“Whatcha got there?” Yoongi asks as he plucks a cracker off the plate.
“Our favorite wine,” Jimin replied, handing Yoongi a solo cup.
“Mmm, this is a nice surprise,” he replies as he takes a sip.
“I had Taehyung pick it up on the way over here as a treat,” Jimin replies, still dancing around the kitchen.
“So I was thinking, this could be our first dance,” Jimin says, as he changes the song to ‘In My Arms’ by Oneus, taking Yoongi’s hand to pull him close to slow dance with him.
“Mmm, I do love this song. I really want to work with this group. Imagine if I got them to perform it at our wedding?”
Jimin laughs, “I have no problem using your industry connections to put our wedding together.”
“I guess once you graduate, we’ll need to notch up the wedding planning, won’t we? So let’s check off the mile long list you made, this will be our first dance song,” Yoongi replies with a laugh.
“Hey you are the one that asked me to marry you! You knew what you were getting into!”
“More like you asked me to marry you !”
“Ugh, I am sad I missed out on the big proposal,” Jimin whines.
“Why did you hide the ring in my bedroom?”
“I was afraid of leaving it in my dorm room. There was no place safe to put it.”
“You could have left it at Tae and Kook’s place.”
Jimin pauses, “Oh…. You’re right.”
Yoongi turns his head to kiss Jimin’s temple, “It’s ok, our engagement story is unique.”
“Is it though?”
“Of course it is!”

A few months ago…
Jimin had basically been living with Yoongi and Hoseok for months. Jimin still lived in the dorms, despite being a senior but he liked saving his money rather than spending it on rent. It was something he was adamant about even though all of his friends tried to get him to move into an apartment with them. Taehyung and Jungkook even tried to talk him into living with them, and they were his bestest friends. And because none of his friends lived in dorms anymore, he had a dorm mate; he didn’t dislike the guy, he just never really had anything in common with him. So they didn’t become friends. So he was hardly ever there after just a few month of dating Yoongi.
One weekend a few months before they moved into their own apartment, Yoongi was spending the day organizing his room. Hoseok believed in spring cleaning any time of year and was in a mood to clean, which means he made Yoongi clean too.
He finds a small black box in the nightstand on Jimin’s side. He gets really nervous when he realizes Jimin could have found this at any time. But then is also very confused because he certainly didn’t remember putting the box in the nightstand. Curious, he opens the box and stares down at an absolutely beautiful ring. This was not the ring that Yoongi bought for Jimin; this was a simple black ring with a small diamond. Well this is weird. The ring Yoongi bought was a stunning platinum band with three diamonds. Before Yoongi can even think about it, he hears a gasp at the door and then a flash of pink hair is flying at him. Jimin tackles him and was now wrestling him on the bed to the box away from him.
“Hyung, no! Please give that back!”
“Jimin, get off me!”
“No, please, Yoongi-hyung, I need that box back! You can’t see it yet!”
Yoongi pauses and just stares at Jimin, “Is this… for me?”
“Well who else would I be giving an engagement ring to??” Jimin slaps his hand over his mouth and all color leaves his face. “Shit.” Jimin buries his face into the bed.
Yoongi, after about a minute of not moving, just starts laughing, “Oh my gosh, were you planning on proposing??”
Jimin just mumbles “Yes” into the duvet.
“Was it going to be something big? You know that’s not me.”
Jimin rolls onto his back, staring at the ceiling, avoiding Yoongi’s gaze. “Of course not hyung, I know it’s not you. It was gonna be a quiet dinner, just us. Although Jin-hyung wanted me to do it at his restaurant so he could make a big deal after I asked.”
Yoongi startles Jimin by getting up and walking over to his closet. He rummages through a bag, where he knew the little black box should be. He stands, takes a deep breath, and turns around holding the box and walks back to the bed to sit.
Jimin gasps, “Hyung, did you plan something big for me??”
“Of course, I know how much you love attention, Jiminie.”
“So we’ve both been planning this?”
“I guess so,” Yoongi says with a laugh.
“Are we just gonna do it now? WAIT! I want to hear what you were planning on doing.”
“Well, I was planning on doing it on stage at your senior year end dance showcase.”
“Oh but hyung, you hate being on stage.”
“I know, but I would have done it for you, I would do anything for you.”
At those words, Jimin starts tearing up.
“Oh Jiminie,” Yoongi envelopes Jimin in a warm hug.
“Yoongi-hyung, you would have done that for me?”
“Yeah, and all our friends were going to be there with a dozen flowers each. Hobi wanted a confetti popper too. I think they have enjoyed the planning a little too much. Do you still want the big engagement or can I ask you now?”
“What if I want to ask you first?”
They sit there staring at each other, holding the boxes in their hands like it was a standoff. All at once, they both say “Will you marry me?” and then a very enthusiastic “Yes” from both. Then they just started laughing, falling back on the bed. After a few minutes, Jimin sits up, pulls Yoongi up with him and pulls the ring from the box. Taking Yoongi’s hand, he slips the ring on his finger. Yoongi does the same, putting the ring on Jimin’s finger.
“Jiminie, I love you so much. I can’t wait for the next adventure with you, always with you.”
“I love you too, always with you.”
----
Yoongi hums along with the song as he recalls their crazy proposals. He gets a little more into their impromptu dance, spinning Jimin, making him giggle. “What are you all giggly about?”
“You. You’re never this into dancing with me.”
“I was just thinking about when we proposed to each other; we were both so shocked and stupid at the same time.”
“Yeah, I guess we were, but haven’t we always been that way? That’s how our relationship started.” Jimin starts laughing harder, practically folding in half in Yoongi’s arms.
“Oh come on Jiminie, we aren’t that bad,” as he pulls Jimin back up and pulls him close to keep dancing. Yoongi says, “So what’s next?”
“Well, hyung, now that we have our own place, can we finally get a little calico kitten?”
Yoongi lets out a little laugh, “Of course, always with you.”
“YAY!” Jimin shrieks and grabs Yoongi’s face in his hands and plants a big wet kiss on Yoongi’s lips. Yoongi smiles and kisses him back, excited for the next adventure with Jimin.
