Chapter Text
Quirrel stepped to the middle of the battle. Right between the army and his friends. Darkness pooled at his feet. It was whispering, but not loud enough to hear. This has to stop. His friends don’t deserve this pain. No-one will hurt them today, not as long as he’s here.
The darkness clung to his feet. (Beloved, beloved) it whispered. (Anything, for you, for you.) It crawled up his legs (Anything beloved. You are in control). He could feel the coldness of it's grip, (I am here, beloved), it whispered.
He stared down at the other kings army. They deserved the pain. It was their fault that his friends were here, that the pale kings five were here.
(Give the command) He gripped the hilt of his nail harder. (Beloved I am here). Somewhere behind he could barely hear his friends calling, calling for him to stop the madness, to turn back. Not this time.
No fear.
The Darkness, the Void grew around him. It rose from the ground like a thick smoke, surrounding him. “Beloved”, he whispered back. “Hear my call, heed my call, come to my aid.”
He could feel the darkness grow on his side, feel the power radiating from the solidifying void. The giant form lowered its head to stare at the army. Eight eyes, six horns, a god, now besides him, the rest of their form still curled around his body. Four hands pressed to the ground, a low rumble somewhere deep in the Abyss. A giant maw full of sharp teeth and a fire burning somewhere deep within, disgustingly orange like the infection it had swallowed.
(Beloved), this God growled. He could almost taste the fear hanging heavy in the air, feel the void eager to answer his call. (I am here with you).
He closed his eyes. The Abyss rumbeled underneath his feet, the sound now close to the surface, void leaking through the ground.
“Please,” he whispered.
With one swift, solid move his God was off of his side, their form now completely solid between him and the enemy. He could feel void rushing past him, rising from the ground, devouring, destroying. Inescapable, final, endless. The Void was his home, this god was his lover, this battle would be their victory.
The void embraced him, drowning out the screaming, and the darkness whispered; (beloved, beloved).
