"the stars are mocking us, i just know it." wooyoung chuckled bitterly, staring up at the sky.
"the stars pity us, wooyoung, we'll probably be the last ones to admire them." seonghwa replies, reaching his arm around wooyoung's shoulder.
forty-six days ago, governments across the world began warning citizens of an asteroid headed directly to earth, with no possibility of stopping it. some people continued on with their lives, going to work and school, cooking and cleaning. seonghwa and wooyoung, however, found it useless to participate in tasks like these, and began checking off items on their bucket list.
the final item was to stargaze at night, with nothing blocking the beautiful bright beams in the sky. seonghwa had suggested this, and wooyoung quickly agreed, seeing the hope lit up in his boyfriend's eyes.
"i'm scared."
"i am, too, my love. i wish we had more time together... i'm terrified." seonghwa shakily admitted, giving up on being the strong one in the pair. wooyoung opened his mouth to reply, to comfort his boyfriend, to reassure him in his last hour, but he felt it near impossible.
"before this asteroid hits the earth in about an hour, let me tell you my last words," wooyoung placed his hand on seonghwa's head, and played with his hair, relaxing him. "you slowly pulled me in when i first met you, i literally saw stars in your eyes, and knew i had to be close with you."
"even while we were friends, i always thought you were too beautiful to be of this earth. it drives me insane how good you are to people, and how good you try to be to yourself. i think you taught me a lot, and i wouldnt trade a single experience for more time. i love you more than time can understand."
seonghwa sat up to face his boyfriend as tears slipped from his eyes.
"we have to meet again, somewhere else. we may not be able to be people again, but i told you the stars pity us. maybe they'll let us join them. we can be together forever there."
"i would love nothing more, my love." wooyoung cried, tears escaping him even as he tried to slow him down. seeing the asteroid becoming closer and closer, wooyoung pulls his boyfriend in for a final kiss, deciding to be the strong one today. seonghwa doesn't see the bright light as the asteroid hits earth.
