Tantrum

Summary:

Teenage years are harsh
All those hormones, all that anger

Must be even worse, when you were betrayed by your best friend and trapped in a tower for the rest of your life

Notes:

Please heed the tags! This will feature Mono/Thin Man having a break down, it is not pretty
Please note that although it is referred to as a 'tantrum' I, as the author, do not view breakdowns or anything like that as such, this is from Mono/Thin Man's perspective.

Work Text:

Growing up sucks.
Unfortunately it is a fact of life
You’ve watched reality shows, they all tell this to be true
Especially as a teenager.
You never realized how true this was until you became one

Another tantrum
You’ve had too many to count by now
You have a feeling you’ll have many more.

The flesh wall feels suffocating, even more so as they watch you
You’ve repeated this behavior so many times, you think they would be bored of it
You want them to be bored of it
You need them to be
You need them to stop watching
Why can’t they just stop watching?
Why can’t you relax for once?

You didn’t realize you started screaming these questions
Not until they disappear into static
Good.
Now you can finally be alone.

The Pale City felt the young adult’s anger
It warped and bent as The Signal Tower’s broadcast grew into an almost physical pulse
The viewers were uncaring, unaware of the danger growing
Soon
Some would realize, as buildings crumbled, burying them in rubble
As he screamed, cracks appeared in the streets

If he knew, he might have apologized
As his tantrum caused an earthquake
Interrupting The Teacher’s lesson
Even more so, as a ravine like hole grew outside the playground, causing everyone wanting to observe
A moment of joy, observing the earth open up and swallow rubble
A moment of ignorance, unaware of what concern should be given
After all, a teen isn’t a teen for a short time.

You felt like a child
Throwing a tantrum
You felt justified, anger for your situation was appropriate
But
It was childish to throw a tantrum
To break things
To scream
You should talk or write about your feelings
Like an adult.
But
You don’t want to do that
You don’t feel like doing that.

Your throat hurt, the yelling made is coarse
But you kept yelling, you didn’t want to stop.
Eventually
You had to
You just couldn’t scream anymore
Your throat wouldn’t allow it anymore
That made you even more frustrated.

You didn’t realize what you were doing until your felt the sharp pain in your fist
You smashed a nearby TV, filling your hand with glass
You didn’t care
It made you feel better.
So you continued

How dare she?
How dare she throw you away like that?
Like you were just a toy she grew bored of
Were you just a tool to her?
You saved her life!
And yet, she gave nothing back
But
You never asked for anything back
How nice was that
She got happiness, togetherness
You couldn’t imagine yourself alone, you offered her company and she did the same
That’s all she did.
That’s all she gave back, the basic necessity

You imagined the TV to be her
You imagined meeting her again
Fighting her
Winning
Killing.

But would that bring you happiness?
Would revenge heal you?

Your bloody hands gripped a unbroken TV as realization overwhelmed you
It would not
You are not the type for revenge.

You hate your kindness
And so, you aimed to destroy that
To destroy the thoughts in your skull
But
As you leaned your head back, ready to send it through the TV, something gripped your arm, pulling you away from the TV
The Flesh was back, not allowing you to continue your rampage
No matter how much you tried to make them let go
No matter the screams, biting and attempting to pull away, they held on

Eventually you gave up
Your legs collapses beneath you, to weak to support you
That was fine, you didn’t feel like moving
The pain in your hands grew unbearable
But
You didn’t feel like doing anything
Anything other than crying.

You hoped Six was doing better, that she was happy.
