Chapter Text
Byleth took aim at the targets in front of her with her training bow and held in her breath. Her surroundings around her faded away, as she let go of the arrow. Flying through the air, the arrow struck the ground next to the target missing it completely.
“Fuck.” Byleth swore.
Edelgard standing next to her shook her head in disapproval. “We've got to work on your cursing my teacher.”
“Why? I'm pretty good at cursing already.” Byleth said tilting her head.
“That’s not what I meant... If Rhea or some of the other chuch faculity heard you; there might be trouble.”
“I see.” Byleth wasn’t quite used to her teaching job quite yet, and she still talked like she did in Jeralt’s mercenary group. “Does it bother you that I speak so roughly, Edelgard?”
“Not particularly, though there are some in our class that might not think well of you for it.”
“Hmm.” Byleth looked up in the air and wondered how she should adjust her speaking habits from now on. Byleth turned to Edelgard and did a small bow and started speaking much more softly than she usually did, “Miss Edelgard.”
Edelgard blushing at the sudden formality, “P-Professor?"
“Is that not right?” Byleth wondered again. “Your Majesty.” Byleth got on one knee and grasped Edelgard’s hand.
Edelgard squeaked at the sight of her professor acting this way. “B-Byleth don’t you think this too soon.. I’m not even the emperess yet. Besides, you shouldn’t be talking this way to one of your students.” Edelgard said with her cheeks as red as her cape.
“So this no good either.” Byleth stood back up and start once again thinking.
“Listen professor, just speak like you usually do. Just no swearing.” Edelgard said.
“Are you sure? You seemed to like it when I called you, ‘your majesty?”’
“I did not like it!” Edelgard blushing even more furiously.
“Enough of this. My teacher, please get back to practicing your archery skills.”
Fine, fine,” Byleth took aim with her bow again and let another arrow fly. This one missing again, yet getting a little closer to the target.
“F- Darn.”
‘You’re getting better my teacher.” Edelgard nodding in approval of her teacher’s efforts.
“I have a feeling we’re going to be here for a while.” Byleth sighed, taking another arrow and preparing to try again.
