As you stepped into Mondstat’s ballroom you saw a plethora of people mingling in the elegant atmosphere. This was the first time you’ve stepped into the ballroom, as usually no one walked up the stairs of the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius. The ballroom was magnificent, filled with glass chandeliers, classic folk paintings, and marble pillars so clean you could see your reflection on them. The floor was crafted out of beautiful quartz, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable, given that this was your first time wearing heels. You prayed to yourself that you wouldn’t fall over and make a fool of yourself.
Amongst the crowd you spotted many familiar faces. On the right, Lisa was chatting away with Jean. Caught up in trying to walk up to the pair, you didn’t notice a certain alchemist coming towards you. “Hey Y/N, I almost thought you couldn’t make it.” He said, startling you. As you turned back, you could see Albedo standing right next to you with his normal emotionless visage. You laughed and replied, “Albedo, you know that I always come fashionably late. You look great by the way.” complimenting his very classy white and purple tailcoat. He looks at you with a bit of blush and nods in acknowledgment. You stare at each other a little longer, almost too long. Your eyes are locked with each other, and you couldn’t help but get lost in his wintry eyes.
“May I have this dance?” Albedo asks, bowing and placing his hand on yours.
“You may....” You say as you put your left hand on his shoulder. He responds by shifting his hand to your waist, holding you tightly but not right enough to hurt.
“I’m not that experienced in the field of Mondstat waltzing if you’re willing to be a dear.. may you guide me with your all-knowing steps?” As a traveler from Liyue you recently just got to Mondstat. You never really set out from Liyue before but.. with the passing of your friend you decided to finish her biggest dream; to travel the world. After arriving in Mondstat you met Albedo who introduced you to many new things and helped you get around town whenever he was available.
As your internal dialogue was setting to an end and reality was slowly creeping back up to you, Albedo twirled you around and placed his forehead on yours. “Y/N you seem to be a bit dazed, are you feeling alright?” He asked, a bit concerned. You laughed it off as nonsense “Ah don’t worry, I just zoned out for a bit, no need to worry!”. He nods still not completely reassured but doesn’t question it further resuming to guide you to where to step next.
You and Albedo waltzing in perfect synchronization, with every step both of you felt a heavyweight of stress lift off of your shoulders. As you twirl around, you begin to see fewer and fewer people around you. Moving across the ballroom you could feel all eyes on you and Albedo. Everyone watching as he guides you around and clutches your waist tighter. The music slowly gets louder as you and Albedo were the center of attention. You could feel ladies looking at you with admiration and gentlemen smiling at Albedo seemingly rooting for him to do something. You were a bit confused as to why but with all eyes on you two you could care less. Suddenly the music was clouded and Albedo halted. You looked at him with a face of confusion as he got on one knee. Suddenly you felt tension all over your body. It wasn't awful but you could feel the room begin to be a bit dimmer and the air a bit colder.
“Albedo? What is this?” you ask him, not knowing what in the abyss is happening here.
He looks up and smiles at you for the first time of the night “Y/N, ever since you’ve arrived in Mondstat I’ve never felt happier. I feel as though my heart is always beating and my world is more colorful. As a man of alchemy, I know for a fact that this wasn’t normal.. so I may have done some experiments with Aether and together we’ve figured out that I have feelings for you...” he paused and pulled out a small Cecelia from his pocket. “Would you let me travel the world with you?” He asked, it sounded more like a statement but you appreciate the illusion of choice he gave you.
“Get off the floor and hug me already you big dumb alchemist!” You shout reloading the tension in the room as Albedo scoops you up into a bear hug. The crowd watched cheering you both and laughing along with the joyous atmosphere.
At this moment you knew that Albedo was the one for you and you hoped he felt the same way too.
