Work Text:
“Okay, but I’m just saying that you like pretty boys,” Hyunjin said pointedly, his voice echoing loudly around the dance studio.
“And?” Minho turned to raise an eyebrow at him, not pausing in packing up his dance bag and as he levelled a look at Hyunjin, trying to work out what he was saying, “And so what if I like pretty boys?”
“And if your boyfriend is the skate-boarding, deep-voiced Australian god you say he is, then chances are he’s not pretty,” Hyunjin said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, giving up on packing his own dance kit, “Chances are, he’s hot instead.”
“Okay, but that literally proves nothing,” Jisung spoke up before Minho could, pulling his lollipop out his mouth to gesture it at Hyunjin, still leant against the mirrors from where he’d been watching them practice, “I’ve seen many pretty skater boys, Minho-hyung can easily fulfil his pretty boy fetish at the skatepark.”
“Hey!” Minho cut in, whipping round to level a glare at Jisung’s grin, not hesitating to pick up his empty water bottle and lob it in the direction he could hear Jeongin and Seungmin sniggering from, “Literally none of you are making any points right now. If I say my boyfriend is pretty, then my boyfriend is pretty.”
“But you’re a ballerina!” Hyunjin carried on, gesturing wildly at where Minho was turning back to shove his dance shoes back into his bag, “You’re the pretty one! He’s the one with tattoos and skateboards and piercings, so he’s the hot one!”
“I don’t know,” it was Chan’s turn to chime in this time, pulling his headphones off his head as he looked up from the laptop plugged into the speaker in the corner of the room, “Boys can be pretty and hot.”
“Exactly,” Changbin chimed in from next to him, turning to flash a wink at everyone, “Just look at me.”
At that, the whole room groaned, Minho being extra dramatic about it as he let the noise drag slowly out his lips. Changbin just scoffed at them all, snatching the headphones from Chan and shoving them on his own head with a huff.
“I feel like we’re making zero progress in this discussion,” Seungmin muttered, just loud enough for them all to hear, “There’s only one way to solve this now.”
“Break Minho-hyung and his boyfriend up and then find him a new boyfriend that we believe is actually suitable to his taste?” Jeongin spoke up before anyone could stop him, a proud grin on his face.
“Yah, you brat!” Minho screeched, turning around and storming across the room in a way that the group had told him was truly terrifying,
Minho happened to catch his reflection in the big dance studio mirrors as he did so and, he had to admit, he did look a little scary. All sweaty from dance practice with his lithe ballet structure and arms muscled as they squared out from his white tank top.
A screech shrilled from Jeongin’s lips as he quickly scrambled back to escape, grabbing onto Jisung and throwing him in front of himself as a human shield.
“Don’t kill me!” Jeongin squealed, “Kill the squirrel!”
“No, don’t kill the squirrel!” Jisung yelled back, his eyes big and terrified as he stared up at where Minho had stopped to loom over them both, “Kill Seungmin!”
“I’m literally the only one with a good idea around here,” Seungmin said dryly, glaring at Jisung, “It would be stupid to kill me.”
That declaration caused another round of shouting to bounce around the room, Chan’s voice extra loud as it argued that I come up with good ideas too, you wouldn’t have any songs to sing if I didn’t!
Deciding not to point out to Chan that there were literally countless other songs that existed in the world, Minho turned to raise an eyebrow at Seungmin, staring down at him inquisitively.
The look was enough to silence the room as Seungmin raised a brow back at Minho.
“Good idea, huh?” Minho said, silently daring Seungmin to reveal whatever it was he was talking about.
“Well, the current debate is whether or not we can really label your boyfriend as pretty,” Seungmin started explaining, folding his arms as he did so, “It would be a lot easier for us to reach an agreement if we could actually meet your boyfriend.”
Admittedly, Minho had to give in to those words, tilting his head and ignoring the murmurs of agreement that echoed around the room.
“I guess you’re right, Kim Seungmin,” Minho hummed, “Then you’ll finally see how correct I am, and you’ll all drop to your knees when you see just how pretty my boyfriend is.”
Another one of Changbin’s signature scoffs sounded around the room, “Literally no one is as pretty as me.”
Minho took that as his cue to finally turn back to his stuff and finish up. He ignored the rest of the group as they took to torturing Changbin for what he’d said, calling him rather creative variations of ‘dwaekki’ and pinching his cheeks.
Minho could only shake his head, grinning silently to himself as he pictured the group’s reaction when they finally realised just how right Minho was. Minho’s boyfriend really was the prettiest boy in the world, apart from Minho of course, and their minds were going to be blown when they realised that.
It was then that Minho’s phone chimed with a new notification, his slender fingers gracefully slipping into his bag to pull it out. Minho’s hand brushed over all his dance gear, his expensive shoes and everything he’d needed for ballet that day.
It was a weird world, the ballet one, and everyday Minho felt like a little more like he belonged in it. He was an extremely graceful dancer and he’d once thought there was nothing prettier in the world than pointed toes, extended fingers and dainty arms and legs.
But then Felix had come along on his skateboard and rocked Minho’s whole world.
Felix was graceful in a whole other way.
He jumped and curled and twirled on his skateboard. He was flexible, fast and he flew.
Felix soared through the air just as high as Minho did when he jumped, Felix kept his balance on his board just as well as Minho did when he was up on his toes, Felix took to life with wind in his hair and a pretty smile on his face just like Minho did when he was spinning through dance studios.
Minho was a person who wasn’t easily shocked, but Felix had managed to jumpstart his life to a whole new level, and Minho could only grab Felix’s hands and hold on as Felix skated him to a different world of happiness.
It was cliché, a ballerina and a skater, but it was the best kind of cliché.
And no matter what the group said, Minho and Felix were both pretty.
Minho realised again just how right that statement was when he finally found his phone and pulled it in front of himself, looking down at his lock-screen and gazing at the picture of Felix, his body sprawled on the ground of a skatepark with the Sun beating down and illuminating him from above.
It was one of many pictures Minho had of Felix looking carefree at both his favourite skateparks and with Minho in the dance studio. Hopefully, there were many more pictures to come.
But then Minho finally read the notification he received, and he couldn’t stop a coy grin from spreading on his face.
“It looks like you’re in luck, guys,” Minho said loudly, not having to look up to hear everyone else in the room suddenly shut up and snap to look at him, “Felix is waiting outside to pick me up.”
It took a second for the words to process.
And then suddenly everyone was scrambling to their feet, shouting frantically and desperately trying to shove each other to get to the door to hopefully find Felix first.
Minho just smiled as he watched them, casually shouldering his dance bag and strolling over to the exit. As expected, everyone moved to let him through, all their whispers echoing behind him as he walked down the corridor to leave the building.
“How much do you wanna bet that Minho-hyung is just love-blind and the boyfriend actually is hot?” came Hyunjin’s whisper, probably aimed at Jisung.
“Do you think he’s more of an Australian god than me?” Chan’s voice joined in the fray, Minho having to hold back a snort at that one.
“I guess we’ll have to find out,” Seungmin said, his voice too smug for Minho’s liking, but Minho was too excited about seeing Felix to teach him a lesson for it.
Minho felt his chest squeeze as he finally reached the dance studio doors, his heart blossoming with the familiar warmth he felt whenever he saw Felix. His skin began to glitter with little specks of gold, his fingers tingling as he pushed the doors open.
With that, Minho stepped out into the sunshine and his eyes fell onto his own sunshine.
The rest of the group tumbled out the building behind him, all eyes landing on a single figure skating towards them through the car park.
Felix was on one of his penny-boards, a short lilac board with various different sunflower and cartoon stickers stuck all over it. He was wearing a pair of black cargo pants with a couple of chains clinking on his belt, leading down to a pair of thick black boots with light pink laces. He also had on a black crop-top with hot pink graffiti-style lettering splattered across the chest and flames stitched up the sleeves.
His arms were covered by a series of black and white tattoos, a collection of planets and flowers and other cartoon-like creatures that Felix adored. His nails were also painted a light yellow, contrasting starkly with the bright mint-green pair of headphones he had looped around his neck.
But easily the most distinctive thing about Felix was the head of cherry-red hair that flopped into a mullet around his neck and flowed in the wind as he skated. It was freshly-dyed and extra bright, styled so that it curled at the ends and braided on one side to keep it out Felix’s face.
And then Felix finally, finally, skated close enough so that his face was nicely-illuminated and clear in the sunlight and Minho heard the entire group gasp behind him.
Felix was so unbelievably pretty.
He had glitter decorating his eyelids and small gems stuck under his eyes, a light pink glossed over his lips. His skin was tan and clear, his big eyes shining and his smile wide, his signature splatter of freckles practically sparkling in the sun.
Minho had to resist the urge to pat himself on the back, he really had found himself the perfect boyfriend.
And, judging by their silence, the rest of the group seemed to agree.
Minho waited until his boyfriend was just close enough before walking a few feet away from the group to greet him.
Felix stopped smoothly on the board, smiling warmly at Minho.
“Hey, hyung,” Felix said, his voice warm and honey-like, not having to get off the board as he leaned forward and placed a kiss on Minho’s forehead.
“Hey, pretty boy,” Minho said back, not hesitating to grab Felix’s face and pull him down into a proper kiss, tasting his strawberry lip-gloss against his mouth.
The rest of the group starting exclaiming loudly from behind them, but Minho ignored them, too addicted to the electricity that Felix’s kiss sent shooting through his veins.
But then Felix pulled back, a faint blush dusting his cheeks and a shy smile on his face. Minho cooed at him, unable to resist planting a loud kiss on the tip of Felix’s nose.
“Just ignore them, baby,” Minho said, loud enough for everyone to hear, “They’re just jealous.”
At that, the group exploded into firm denials that were way too dramatic to be real and Felix giggled in a way that was music to Minho’s ears.
“Come on, baby,” Minho squeezed Felix’s face, speaking only to him now, “Show them just what they’re missing.”
A smug smile appeared on Felix’s face, his feet hopping lightly off the board. He turned and gave the group a quick wave before turning back to Minho and helping him to step onto the board.
Minho wobbled slightly, but felt himself relax when Felix’s hand slipped into his and squeezed. They’d done this a lot lately, tried to teach each other the things they loved. Felix was actually proving to be a natural dancer with a surprising elegance when he took to ballet.
Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Minho’s skateboarding skills. But that never seemed to matter, not when all Minho needed to do was stand correctly on the board whilst Felix grabbed his hands and dragged him around to wherever they needed to go.
Which is exactly what happened when Felix dragged him over to stand in front of the group.
“Um, hi everyone,” Felix waved shyly at them with his free hand, his extra-deep voice slipping out with his shyness, “I’m Felix, or Yongbok if it’s easier, whatever you prefer.”
The groups’ mouths only dropped open more.
Minho made a smug noise from the back of his throat, “I told you he was pretty and hot!”
Apparently Minho bragging about being right about something was enough to finally snap the group out from their funks.
“Oh my god, hyung!” Hyunjin screeched, both hands coming out to smack either side of his own face, “You never said he looked like that!”
Minho just grinned at the way everyone nodded in agreement, “I couldn’t have you stealing him away from me, not that he could ever resist my charms.”
Felix let out a snort at the words, but turned to give Minho a look that suggested he’d hit the target dead-on. Minho couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride, his boyfriend was just as whipped for him as he was for his boyfriend.
“Well, hi,” Chan was the first to actually speak normally, trying to act casual as he took a step forward and held a hand out to Felix.
Felix let go of Minho’s hand to shake it, looking up at Chan with just a small hint of suspicion. Minho couldn’t help but feel suspicious too, narrowing his eyes at Chan.
That was when Chan switched to English.
“My name is Chris,” Chan said, Australian accent dripping with confidence, “But you can call me anytime.”
At the end of his sentence, Chan winked with his signature tongue clicks and Felix broke out into giggles. Minho bristled, not having understood all the English words, but having understood the sentiment perfectly well.
“Hey, get away from my boyfriend!” Minho squawked, intending to step forward and barge between Chan and Felix, but he forgot he was still on Felix’s board and he found himself flying forward a lot faster than he’d intended as the board swooped out from under him.
But, thankfully, Felix was used to these things by now, and slim but strong arms were quick to wrap around Minho’s waist and stop him from face-planting to the ground, pulling him up to stand on his own two feet.
The board flew behind them but Felix just laughed, settling his hand comfortably around Minho’s waist and shaking his head.
Minho grumbled at the embarrassment, but realised he actually had nothing to be embarrassed about when Jisung surged forward and stared at Felix like he was the biggest wonder the world had to offer.
“Oh my god,” Jisung yelled at Felix, only making him laugh harder, “You’re Superman!”
Minho couldn’t help but join in the laughter, turning to press a kiss on the side of Felix’s neck in thanks.
Jeongin gagged loudly at the action and pretending to look away, halfway into an eyeroll when his eyes suddenly landed on Felix’s empty board now halfway across the empty car park.
“Hey, Minho-hyung’s boyfriend?” Jeongin turned back to them, both Minho and Felix raising an eyebrow at him, “Can I ride your board?”
Felix lit up, nodding enthusiastically at Jeongin, “Go ahead!”
Jeongin whooped in celebration, shouting a thanks at Felix before sprinting off to grab the board. The rest of the group followed him like a gang of toddlers, all starting to scream and shout about who should get to go on the board next.
Minho and Felix stepped back to watch them, Felix’s arm still rested around Minho’s waist.
They could only laugh as Jeongin almost skated straight into Seungmin, the two of them clashing into Changbin and sending Jisung into a spiral whilst Chan and Hyunjin screamed something about how they actually knew how to use a skateboard, so maybe they could be in charge.
Minho just snorted at their antics, turning to look at Felix.
“You know they’re never going to leave you alone now that they think you’re Superman?” he said, and Felix just grinned at him.
“Maybe it’ll be humbling for you,” Felix said cheekily, dodging the flick that Minho tried to aim at his forehead, “Alright, alright! I promise I don’t mind, I’ll put up with a whole hoard of idiots as long as I get to keep my beautiful ballerina.”
Minho couldn’t hep but smile, “Aww, how unbelievably sweet of you.”
Felix just laughed, leaning in to connect his lips with Minho’s. Minho hummed at the feeling of Felix’s grip tightening around his waist, both their faces flushing with warmth and butterflies starting to flutter around them.
A small hand wormed its way into Minho’s hair. Minho reached up to cup Felix’s face, slowly moving into the kiss and savouring the feeling blooming all through him. Minho had missed having Felix in his arms, had missed having his beautiful boyfriend warm and wonderful under his touch.
They were just about to deepen the kiss when, predictably, came the first shout of protest.
“Hey, weirdos!” Seungmin screeched at them from across the car park, “No making out outside the dance studio!”
Minho couldn’t help but pull away with a roll of eyes, squeezing Felix’s face before turning to glare at Seungmin.
Felix just placed his head on Minho’s shoulder as everyone else joined in with the shouts, keeping his eyes on the group as he whispered in Minho’s ear.
“You wanna go make out round the back?” Felix said casually, and Minho felt himself perk up.
“I couldn’t think of anything better, baby,” Minho turned to grin at Felix, grabbing his hand with a squeeze before starting to lead Felix away.
The protests from the group followed them the whole way, but Minho ignored them, too excited to finally have Felix all to himself again.
And when they were finally alone and Felix giggled and settled his hands back on Minho’s shoulders, his face all mushy and perfect and smiley, Minho couldn’t help but place a soft ‘I love you’ against his lips, feeling Felix melt under his touch.
“I love you too,” Felix whispered back, before Minho’s lips were back on his and the two were lost to each other once more.
