Chapter Text
It was a quiet and peaceful day so far, but the Toon Force had school as Lionel wore his Pietro guise. The students were talking among each other until it was time for them to go to lunch as their teacher was out of the room until class would start.
"So, it's been quiet lately," Cherry said to the others. "Maybe we should meet up and hang out if there's nothing else planned for The Justice League training."
"I thought we were going to Neverland?" Atticus replied.
Everyone soon looked over at Thor.
"Sorry, guys, but I can't say much until Uncle comes over and says it's time." Thor shrugged.
"Oh, come on!" Cherry complained.
"He still hasn't said a word about when it's time to go there?" Mo asked.
"Sorry, I don't control his schedule," Thor shrugged. "If I did, things would be a lot different for me right now."
"Fine," Cherry rolled her eyes. "I guess we'll just try to be patient."
Eventually, everyone looked forward as the teacher walked in.
"All right, people, let's get started with today's lesson plan... A pop quiz!" Miss Grundy said as she walked into the classroom before her eyes widened and the lights suddenly went out.
"Bad news," Mr. Kraft said as he suddenly walked into the classroom. "The building's lost electricity so the school is closed until the lights can be fixed."
"Something tells me we know who's responsible for the electricity being out." Lionel whispered to the others.
"Either him or a blackout." Thor whispered back.
"Both sound possible." Atticus whispered.
The students then flooded out of the classroom and soon the whole school. The group looked at each other and shrugged before they joined their classmates out the school for an unexpected half day of school.
"You guys want McDonald's?" Atticus suggested.
"I guess we better get some lunch while we still have the time." Cherry replied.
"Yeah, some lunch at McDonald's sound perfect." Lionel said.
"Count me in." Thor nodded.
Patch was seen running over to Atticus, happy to see him after school.
"Hey, Patch, good to see ya," Atticus smiled as he knelt down to hug his dog. "Looks like we're taking the rest of the afternoon off from school today."
"I know school is important to you, but I love it when ou don't have to go to school." Patch smiled before licking his face in excitement.
"I can tell." Atticus said between laughs.
"We're gonna be heading to McDonald's for lunch." Thor told Patch.
"Cool." Patch smiled.
"Are dogs allowed in McDonald's?" Lionel asked Cherry.
"I don't think so." Cherry shrugged.
"It's okay," Atticus told Patch. "We'll eat outside by the playground area."
"I'll be fine as long as that Ronald McDonald doesn't ask us to play with him." Cherry rolled her eyes as they left school to get some lunch.
"Mm... Lunch, here we come." Thor smiled.
"This is going to be a delicious lunch." Patch smiled.
"Then again, what lunch isn't delicious?" Mo asked.
"Liver and onions with broccoli." Thor stated.
The others looked at him funny.
"She asked..." Thor shrugged in defense.
"Oh, kids," Mr. Kraft called as they all acted and looked innocent while Lionel tried not to look annoyed as he personally strongly disliked Mr. Kraft. "Your younger cousins are here so you can take them home with you. Guess the power outage crossed to the elementary or middle school too."
"Younger cousins?" The group asked in confusion before they came to see a couple of kids who wore pink and blue outfits.
"Yeah, I think they said their names were Steven and Nora." Mr. Kraft replied as he came into his car to get back home himself.
The group looked around before they made it into the principal's office as the kids were shown to be there before their faces looked familiar.
"Jack and Jill!" The group then realized once they saw who their "younger cousins" really were.
"Hi there, 'cousins'." Jill smiled.
"What are you two doing here?" Thor asked. "Here to join us for lunch?"
"Well, there's that," Jack said before winking. "But you're also due to meet your ring leader, Drell."
"That's something to call him..." Cherry rolled his eyes. "Well, where is he now?"
"He's going to meet you down with us at Looking Glass when lunch is over," Jill replied. "Alice is gonna help send us to where we need to go to meet this Peter Pan that you speak of."
"Good to know." Patch said.
"Let's get to lunch." Atticus said.
They soon met up at McDonald's while Jack and Jill looked confused and curious.
"And two cheeseburgers and fries for these two." Atticus said, finishing the order to the person up front.
"Very well," The cashier replied. "That'll be $30.45."
Atticus paid the money before nodding as he gave everyone their cups so that they could get some drinks.
"This just looks like a place with enough food for Sir George himself." Jack commented as he looked in the back.
"McDonald's has delicious food." Thor smiled.
"I'll take your word for it." Jack replied.
"I can't wait to eat." Mo said.
"Just try it, you guys," Cherry said. "It'll only kill you if you eat it every day for every meal for 30 days like in a documentary we watched for school."
Jack and Jill glanced at each other nervously.
"Real encouraging." Lionel deadpanned.
"I was supposed to help?" Cherry shrugged in defense. "Erm... Never mind that, I guess... How's everyone been doing lately?"
"Jack had a lot of fun meeting Aunt Alice's niece, Clara~" Jill smirked.
Jack simply blushed by the mention of Clara's name.
"Ooh." Mo smirked playfully.
"W-Well, why wouldn't I?" Jack asked while blushing.
"Hmm... Clara... Wasn't that also the name of a character from The Nutcracker?" Thor asked.
"Yeah, that's the girl who goes on the adventure with The Nutcracker and he saves her from the evil Mouse King." Cherry nodded.
"I like seeing that ballet every Christmas." Mo blushed.
"Really?" Lionel smirked. "Interesting to meet a tomboy with hidden depths."
"Yeah... I was dragged there when I was younger, but I loved it after seeing it for the first time," Mo explained sheepishly. "It's cool that you guys got to meet her though."
"Huh. Strange that Alice's niece has the same name as the character from the girl in the ballet." Patch said.
"Yeah," Atticus nodded. "Could it be a coincidence?"
"I doubt it based on what we've seen with The Avengers Grimm and The Sinister Squad," Lionel said to them. "It's pretty obvious when you think about it."
Eventually, the food was shared and Jack and Jill ate their cheeseburgers before liking them and eating more than a couple of bites.
"Good, huh?" Thor smiled. "I'm a Big Mac man myself."
"Delicious." Jack smiled back.
"It's the best cheeseburgers we've ever had," Jill added. "Then again these are the first and only cheeseburgers we've ever had."
"Well, that's good." Lionel said.
"Can we borrow one of your telecommunication devices?" Jack asked the Toon Force.
"You mean a cell phone? Uh... Sure." Cherry shrugged before she took her phone out.
Jack soon took it and punched in a certain number before waiting for it to ring.
"Hello?" Alice's voice asked.
"Aunt Alice, we just got lunch, and-" Jack began to say.
"Hello~" Alice smiled as she turned around from the worker counter, revealing herself.
"...How does she do that?!" Jack and Jill asked with wide eyes.
"You learn a few special tricks when you've been to Wonderland as many times as I have." Alice smiled innocently.
"Of course you do." Lionel said.
"It's great to see you again, Alice." Thor smiled.
"Great to see you again, my dears," Alice replied. "Have we finished up our little Happy Meals and are ready for a brand new adventure?"
"As we'll ever be, I guess," Lionel shrugged. "Make it so, Wonderland #1."
"Excellent," Alice said to them. "Come with me."
And at that, they soon left to go with Alice in her limo as Hatter drove them off to Looking Glass for a new mission together.
"Guess this can keep us busy if things are quiet for The Justice League," Mo said to the others. "Speaking of which, I hope Connor's doing alright with your grandparents." she then said to Atticus.
"Oh, he's getting the full experience of farm life." Atticus smiled.
"Sounds like he'll never get bored there." Mo smiled back.
"Nope." Atticus shook his head with a smile.
"So will we be getting any new allies coming with us in this mission?" Patch asked Alice.
"I don't imagine so aside from the child in question who you must meet for your quest." Alice replied.
"That's good." Thor said.
"Alright, let's do this thing." Atticus said.
They soon drove down over to Looking Glass. Snow White and Charles were standing in the meeting place with small smiles.
"Mother? Father?" Jack and Jill asked.
"We're here to see you out," Snow smiled. "Be very careful when crossing different realms."
"Especially in places you haven't been to before." Charles added.
"We will, Father." Jack said.
"And we'll stay close together." Jill added.
"Just remember to stick together, no matter what happens," Snow said to the twins as she knelt down in front of them. "There's nothing worse than losing your own twin through cowardice or at a villain's hands."
"Well, that wasn't suspicious at all," Lionel remarked. "Foreshadowing, anyone?"
"Does she have a twin sister we don't know about?" Thor wondered.
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't," Snow said mysteriously. "Just keep a good eye on the twins so that they don't get in trouble or there will BE trouble from me." she then warned The Toon Force firmly.
"Yes, ma'am." The Toon Force gulped.
"Good." Snow smiled.
"Yeesh! Nearly forgot how frightening she can be." Thor gulped.
Snow nodded sharply before she hugged Jack and Jill one last time. "I love you two so much," She said to them softly. "You'll always be my little prince and princess."
"We love you too, Mother." Jack and Jill replied softly in the hug.
The others smiled softly and warmly as they watched the comforting family time between Snow and the twins.
"How sentimental." Alice remarked.
Once Snow, Charles, Jack, and Jill finished their hug, it was time for the group to start heading for their mission.
'Well, here we go.' Patch thought to himself.
"Yes, it's time to visit the story about a boy who would never grow up, about the pirate who wished to kill him, about the island where fairies roamed, but this isn't the story you've heard before, because sometimes friends begin as enemies, and enemies begin as friends," Alice remarked. "Sometimes to truly understand how things end, we must first know how they begin."
"Spoken like a true narrator," Hatter said. "Now if only we had an author to tell OUR story, Alice my dear."
"That would be nice, Hatter." Alice nodded before she took out a shard of glass.
"What's this?" Cherry asked as she carefully held out her hand to hold it as it glowed.
"That's the magic mirror that was shattered and had different Fairy Tale Realms when I woke up in Looking Glass when we faced Queen Magda." Snow memorized.
"Correct," Alice nodded. "You see, when Rumplestiltskin and Snow White shattered the mirror, it brought out all kinds of different Fairy Tale Realms," she then informed The Toon Force. "Such as that one you have in your hands which would be the one to Neverland. Such a beautiful land, no wrinkles or growing old to worry about, even if the pirates are a bit of a handful."
"Whatever they have to throw at us we can handle it." Atticus said.
"You can count on us." Mo added as Patch nodded.
"Now, Drell sent a message while you were in school," Alice said to them. "He said you could either go to Neverland now or you could go end up where Peter was before Neverland."
"Well, I dunno about the others, but I for one am curious to see what Peter Pan's life was like before Neverland." Lionel spoke up.
"Yeah, me too," Cherry shrugged. "Though I feel like it's gonna be a bit dark and scary."
"I think we can all agree on that." Jack said.
"Yeah." Jill nodded.
"Besides, how will we know everything about him if we don't see what Peter Pan's life was like before he ended up in Neverland?" Atticus asked.
"Suit yourselves," Alice replied. "This shard when added to a bigger mirror will send you right to this Peter Pan you speak highly of, I just hope you know what you're doing."
"It'll be interesting, that's for sure." Cherry said as she held the shard closeby as it glowed.
"Almost looks like the glass coffin that the dwarves made for me and the tower that Sleeping Beauty was trapped inside of after she was put under her sleeping curse." Snow remarked.
"The Storybook Villains probably used the same material in your different stories." Mo guessed.
"Just put this to our magic mirror in the armory and you'll be transported instantly," Hatter instructed. "There's no turning back once you do though until your mission will be over."
"Right." Atticus nodded.
"And we'll be ready to face anything," Thor added. "I mean, come on, we've faced the worse so far, especially on Justice League/Toon Force missions alone."
"You didn't have to face Gelda and Wonderland like I did." Alice mumbled.
"At least we met each other?" Hatter asked Alice.
"Yes, quite right," Alice replied. "You always understood me better than my own family."
The Toon Force soon made it into the armory as they stood in front of the magic mirror that had a piece missing.
"Well... I guess this it," Cherry said to the others before she put the missing piece into the hole. "Off to Peter Pan we go."
After the mirror piece was placed inside, there was soon a bright glow and eventually, a gray landscape was shown in the mirror before showing a dark and cold evening as a woman was running with a baby in her arms. The others looked ready to jump in.
"Wait," Cherry said before stopping them. "We probably shouldn't tamper with this part of Peter Pan's story. This looks important."
"Right, if we mess with anything in the past, it might alter the present." Atticus agreed.
"So then guess we'll just watch for now." Jack said.
"Looks that way." Jill replied.
"It might not take too long." Cherry suggested.
The others looked at each other before they continued to watch. The woman was shown to be looking around, carrying the bundle in her arms as she ran and jumped as carefully and quickly as she could. She then looked around before coming through a gate, making it over to a place known as The Sisters of Prudence Lambeth Home For Boys and soon came to the front doors before setting her baby down in front of the doors. The baby was shown to be stirring and seemed to be wearing a necklace around his neck which resembled that of the musical instrument known as the panpipe.
"Come on..." The woman said softly as she set him down, looking like she was about to cry. "I love you, my son. I love you, my Peter." she then told him before she had to leave him at his new home.
"Oh, my..." Thor frowned.
As the woman left her baby at his new home, the door soon opened to show some light, showing that someone was inside.
"So he first started out at some kind of orphanage." Patch said.
"Well, I knew that Peter Pan had to have parents," Cherry said. "At least at some point in his life."
"He never had a real family," Lionel realized. "That explains it."
Eventually, someone came out and picked up newborn Peter, bringing him into the orphanage, seeing a note that was left in his blanket with him.
"Since we don't have years to watch his whole entire life story, let's skip up to 12 years later." Lionel suggested.
"Agreed, but how do we get the magic mirror to do that?" Thor asked.
"There must be someway." Patch said.
"Uh, guys?" Jack and Jill spoke up, pointing to the mirror.
The mirror seemed to be changing on its own before it glowed, showing the orphanage to 12 years later.
"All right then," Lionel said before snapping his fingers to give them all clothes to fit the time period. "Gotta get back in time! ...To the era of World War II! May we survive and be very careful out there."
"So, what happens?" Thor asked the twins. "We just jump into the mirror?"
"Yes," Jack nodded. "Then we'll be right there in an instant."
The others nodded as well as Jack and Jill demonstrated by jumping in ahead of them, instantly being in the orphanage setting as Peter and the other boys were waking up and getting ready for breakfast.
"Man, it looks like Oliver Twist in there." Cherry cringed at the setting.
"I know, right?" Mo added with a grimace.
The rest of the Toon Force soon jumped through the magic mirror next.
"Alright, we're here." Atticus smiled.
"Now we just have to make sure everything stays on track." Patch said.
They soon made it into the orphanage as the kitchen was getting ready for breakfast.
Patch sniffed the air before groaning. "Ugh... Is that supposed to smell like food?" he then asked. "It smells worse than the mystery meatloaf in the school cafeteria."
A woman was shown to be cleaning up before she checked the time and was on her way out of the room with a bell in her hand before looking over and glaring.
"Hi?" Jack and Jill grinned nervously.
"Street urchins," The woman glared. "I think you better vacate the premises before I call the authorities."
"Please, ma'am, let us stay," Jill begged. "We don't have any place to stay."
"And if you let us stay, we promise to help out with any chores around the house." Jack said.
"Yeah." Thor nodded.
The woman narrowed her eyes. Patch tried to do the puppy dog pout to help convince the woman into letting them stay.
"...I'm not fond of animals." The woman said, about to kick them out after seeing Patch.
"Please, ma'am, Patch won't hurt anyone," Atticus said. "Plus it might make some people around here a little happier to see a cute little doggy around."
Patch nodded as he began to do the puppy dog eyes to look cute.
'That should do the trick.' Thor thought to himself.
'Please let it work.' Mo thought to herself.
The woman simply looked annoyed, not falling for the trick, but decided to just go with it. "Fine, you can stay," she then said. "But if you're going to be here, you're going to work."
"We understand, ma'am." The group replied calmly and patiently.
"We won't let you down, Miss..." Lionel added, drawing out a bit.
"You will me know me as now and forever as Mother Barnabus," The woman replied strictly. "I don't want any trouble from any of you, especially the mutt or else you'll all be on the streets and left to fend for yourselves in this crazy war we're forced to be apart of."
"Yes, ma'am." The Toon Force Jack and Jill said.
"We promise not to cause any promise." Atticus said.
"Good then." Mother Barnabus nodded firmly.
"What can we do for you now, uh, Miss?" Lionel asked.
"Some of you can wipe down the tables in that room over there and sweep up the floor and arrange the plates and trays," Mother Barnabus suggested, pointing down the hallway. "The children will be up any moment to get their breakfast, NOW BE QUICK ABOUT IT!"
"Okay!" The group replied before taking off into the next room.

"Sheesh! That woman acts as though she was married to Mr. Kraft or somethin'!" Lionel commented.
"Let's just get to work so she doesn't get any more mad." Thor suggested.
"Yeah," Jill replied. "Though I wonder if Peter Pan's soldiers are around here too?"
"Soldiers?" Cherry asked. "Oh, you mean The Lost Boys... Most likely." she then shrugged as they got to cleaning.
"Well, there's one good thing about this adventure; we'll be making some new friends." Atticus said while cleaning.
"Yeah, that's one good thing," Thor said while cleaning. "Another would be meeting Peter Pan in person."
"I hate this already," Cherry complained during the cleaning. "Maybe we should've met Peter in Neverland when the choice was given to us."
"Don't worry, we'll have this place cleaned in no time with all of us working together." Patch smiled.
"You're a dog," Cherry rolled her eyes. "How are YOU gonna clean up?"
"Mm... I dunno..." Patch shrugged before Lionel snapped his fingers, putting sponges on Patch's paws. "What the...?"
Lionel smiled, then pushing Patch around in the room to help him scrub the floors with the sponges.
"Whoa! Guess this is how." Patch said while scrubbing the floors with the sponges.
"Cool." Atticus said while cleaning.
"I hope we get to Neverland soon." Jill stated while cleaning.
"We'll get there when we get there," Cherry said. "These things take time."
"Tell us more about it?" Jack asked. "...If you don't mind?"
"What? About Neverland?" Cherry asked.
"Yeah." Jack and Jill smiled and nodded in excitement.
"We don't know a lot about it, but Alice says you'll never grow old, but there are pirates like Bluebeard down there." Jill said.
"Well, she's right, based on what I read in my old book," Cherry shrugged as she swept up the floor with a broom. "But yeah. Down there, you'll never grow up unless you're already an adult. They say there's an Indian tribe there, a lagoon filled with real live mermaids, and of course, Peter Pan himself and The Lost Boys."
"Cool." Jack smiled while dusting.
"I hope that we won't have to wait very long to get to Neverland." Patch said while scrubbing the floor.
"You and me both." Thor said while washing the window.
Eventually, a bell was heard ringing which made them all look around. The boys in the orphanage were soon starting to wake up after the bell was ringing.
"I guess the boys will be here soon," Jack guessed. "I hope we get to eat too."
"Ugh... I doubt you'll want any of this food." Lionel said, having a bad, sinking feeling.
"Why?" Jack asked.
"Because orphanages and their food back in World War II weren't the best and the same is said for orphanages in, well, any year." Atticus said.
"How do you know that?" Jill asked.
Atticus looked down with a deep sigh.
"What?" Jack frowned. "Did we say something wrong?"
"...It's complicated," Atticus replied quietly. "...I'll tell you later."
Jack and Jill looked at each other before shrugging as they continued to clean up until they were all done. Everyone smiled at their hard work before yelping as the orphan boys ran on inside, suddenly making the room dirty again since some of the boys were dirty and didn't wash up before getting their food for the day.
"Great..." Cherry complained, snapping her broom in half suddenly.
"Well, looks like we have our work cut out for us." Thor sighed.
"No kidding." Lionel said.
"We'll get back to cleaning after breakfast." Atticus said.
"If there's any food left." Patch whispered to the others.
The boys soon went to get their food as they stood in line.
"Quiet over there! I said quiet! Eat that up! Now. I won't tell you again!" Mother Barnabus complained and barked to the orphans.
"Sheesh... Talk about a hard case." Lionel quietly snarked to himself.
Jill waited her turn, looking around as she looked hopeful and excited about meeting a certain one of the boys, but tried to keep it to herself.
"Where's the bacon?" The boy in front of her asked the nun who served his food for him. "We always have bacon rind of a weekend."
"There's a war on, Peter." The nun replied apologetically.
"Peter?" Jill beamed, whispering in excitement and hopefulness as she hugged her bowl.
"Rationing. You're lucky to have any food at all." The nun then told Peter softly.
"She's got that right." Lionel whispered to the others.
"So that's really him?" Jill whispered.
"Yep." Jack nodded quietly.
Peter soon left the line with his plate of breakfast. Another boy soon joined after Peter once he got his food next.
"Why don't you kids go and join those two?" Cherry suggested to Jack and Jill. "We'll be with you shortly."
"Uh... Okay..." Jack shrugged before he got his food with Jill.
Jill eagerly got her food before nearly running after Peter.
"...I've never seen her do that before..." Jack said to himself before shrugging as he got his breakfast next before sticking his tongue out and then followed behind.
"Oh! Mother Barnabus, forgive me." One of the other nuns said nervously as she ran into the more ill-tempered one.
"Get over there." Mother Barnabus glared at her.
"How much you wanna bet she's nickin' all the rations?" Peter whispered to the boy next to him.
"Shh. She'll hear ya," The boy shushed as he whispered back. "She's got ears like an elephant."
"Bum like one, too." Peter then smirked before they went to sit down.
"This is actually happening, I'm really going to talk to Peter Pan," Jill whispered to herself. "What should I do? What should I say?"
"Are you going to stand there all day or go over and talk to him?" Jack whispered to his sister once he caught up with her.
"Well, I am, but what should I say?" Jill whispered back.
"I dunno, maybe you could tell him your name, get to know him better," Jack shrugged. "Just try to be cool."
"Cool... Right..." Jill nodded as she soon walked on over to the table that Peter sat at with his friend.
Jack smiled, following after his twin sister carefully and calmly.
"Uh... HI!" Jill nearly exclaimed, startling Peter and his friend before they looked over as she cleared her throat. "Erm... I mean... Hi." she then said, a bit more quietly.
"Hi." Peter and the boy replied.
"You should get a haircut," Peter said to Jill, not realizing that she was a girl. "You look like a girl."
"Oh, um, that might be because I am a girl." Jill said.
"What? But then what are you doing here?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, this is a home for boys," The other boy added. "No offense."
"Uh... M-M-My brother and I are working here," Jill explained bashfully. "We... Uh... Um... It's complicated to explain."
"Well, I guess that makes sense," Peter shrugged. "Go ahead and sit down if you want."
'This is actually happening.' Jill thought to herself before going over to sit down.
'Good cover-up, Jill.' Jack thought to himself.
Peter and the other boy soon noticed there were more empty seats than usual. Jack and Jill cringed, but they tried to eat their food, not liking it at all.
"Look. More empty seats." Peter noted.
"Nelson and Billy both got evacuated," The boy scoffed. "Lucky sods."
"Both of them?" Peter asked his friend. "When?"
"Don't know," The boy shrugged. "When I woke up, they were both gone. Off to some family in Canada until the war's over."
"I guess at least they'll be safe?" Jill shrugged bashfully.
"Yeah, I guess," The boy said to her. "I wouldn't mind goin' there."
"Don't be daft. You gotta stay put." Peter scoffed.
"For when our mums come fetch us?" The boy smirked, scoffing a bit too.
"Exactly," Peter nodded. "We hunker down here. Hold the fort. Wait for the cavalry." he then suggested.
"So, uh, what's your name?" Jack asked the other boy.
"Everybody calls me 'Nibs'." The boy replied.
"Nibs?" Jack repeated.
"Well, I didn't pick my name." Nibs shrugged in defense.
"Well, it's an interesting name." Jack said.
"Thanks." Nibs replied.
The boys and the group began to enjoy their breakfast as best as they could.
"Well, they seem to be getting along okay." Cherry said from her table with the others.
"Better them than me." Lionel replied, pouring salt into his bowl to at least give it a little bit of flavor.
"It's interesting to see a girl around here," A young nun said, coming over to clean up a little. "She's not orphaned, is she?"
"No, we're just visiting," Mo told her. "I hope that's okay."
"It's fine with me, but just watch out for Sister Barnabus," The nun said cautiously. "She feasts on the fear of children and the sisters that rank below her. Sometimes I wish I could help some of these children get out into a more proper home, but what can you do when there's a war going on?" she then sighed softly with a pout.
"That's true." Mo said softly.
"We'll be sure to keep a look out for her." Thor said.
"You seem familiar... Do we know you?" Cherry asked the nun.
"No, I don't think so." The nun shook her head.
"Sister Rose, stop talking with those urchins and get back to work!" Mother Barnabus scolded sharply.
"S-Sorry!" The nun replied, flinching before she ran off suddenly.
"Man... Who put a bee in her undies?" Lionel rolled his eyes about Mother Barnabus.
"Now both of you hurry up and eat for your volunteer jobs for the day." Mother Barnabus smirked at Peter and Nibs.
"We didn't volunteer for jobs today?" Peter replied.
"Well, I volunteered for you, I'll see you outside shortly." Mother Barnabus smirked before walking away from the table.
"Wonder what she volunteered them for?" Patch whispered to himself.
"Whatever she volunteered them for, it can't be that bad, right?" Thor asked.
"Something tells me it might be." Lionel said.
"Why don't we try to stay positive?" Thor replied.
"Kinda hard to stay positive in a place that makes the orphanage in Little Orphan Annie look like Warbucks' Manor." Lionel retorted.
"Ooh~..." Thor gasped in the background.
"Looks like we got work to do after we eat." Peter told Nibs.
"Uh! I could help you guys!" Jill gasped suddenly before blushing. "I-If you want... I mean..."
"Well, okay," Peter said to her. "It's just not gonna be fun."
"I'm sure whatever it is it can't be that bad." Jill replied.
"Well, we'll see how bad it is." Peter said.
'If it's anything like scrubbing the floors or taking out the trash, we can handle it.' Jack thought to himself.
After they were done eating, Jill met Peter and Nibs outside as promised. Peter was shown to be sketching what looked like a woman with some chalk as Nibs cleaned up the mess outside until water was splashed onto Peter's drawing suddenly, washing it away instantly.
"Now, get on that roof and clean those filthy gutters." Mother Barnabus firmly demanded to the children.
Peter looked up, looking a bit scared from the height. "Is it safe, Mother Barnabus?" he then asked softly.
"Well, I've not tested it meself, like. You know, not recently, but all the necessary paperwork is in order should an orphan perish in a fall," Mother Barnabus smiled sweetly before shouting harshly. "NOW GET UP THERE!"
Peter and Nibs shivered nervously.
"And while you're aloft and closer to our Lord, you may reflect on your festering souls," Mother Barnabus then told the children before she took out what looked like edible food that she kept hidden from them. "Your souls that fester as do the leaves." she then added before heading inside as she put the food into her mouth.
'That woman should be ashamed of herself for being called a nun.' Jill thought to herself.
"See? I was right she's hiding all the rations," Peter told Nibs. "Where's she hiding all the rations?"
"In her office. No one's ever been in there." Nibs said.
"No one?" Jill asked.
"No one," Nibs repeated firmly. "I heard a rumor it's booby-trapped."
"Well... Maybe that needs to change." Jill suggested.
"Good luck with that." Nibs sighed and shrugged in defeat.
It was soon time to get cleaning for Peter and Nibs and it took a very long time. Pretty much all day actually.
"Remember to come and get something to eat if you feel hungry," Sister Rose advised Peter and Nibs. "I won't let you go hungry while at work."
"Not even the rats will touch that food," Peter scoffed. "No offense, Sister Rose."
"I just wish I was brave and strong enough to stand up against Mother Barnabus for you all," Sister Rose replied softly. "You're such good young boys who deserve so much better than her caretaking skills."
"She's got that right." Jill muttered to herself.
"Well, one day our mums will come and get us." Peter said.
"Do you really think they will?" Jill asked.
"They promised," Peter replied. "Though sometimes I'm not sure. At least you have a family to go home to, right?"
"...Yeah, kinda..." Jill said, not sure what else to say, especially since Snow White and King Charming were far away from her and Jack right now.
"Well, you got a family," Peter then said. "That's a lot more than any one of us around here can say."
"...I'm sorry." Jill said softly.
"Everybody's sorry, but it never really does anything to help." Peter replied firmly.
"No, I guess it doesn't..." Jill said softly.
One of the orphan boys from inside watched from outside the window of what Peter, Nibs, and Jill were doing until a warning call was heard, informing everyone that the enemy was about to attack.
"What was that?!" Jack cried out.
"It's an alarm," Cherry warned. "You have to go to a bomb shelter."
"Ooh... I should've stayed back home!" Jack said, shivering before looking around. "Wait! Jill's still out there!"
"Silence, I said! Quiet!" Mother Barnabus called out sharply as the kids began to evacuate the orphanage. "Everyone, down to the shelters! In chaos is death!"
The warplanes began to zoom up above in the skies as Peter, Nibs, and Jill were on their way back inside.
"Come along, dear." Sister Rose told Jack as calmly as she could.
"I can't leave without Jill!" Jack told her, panicking about his twin sister.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure your sister makes it inside, along with Peter and Nibs." Sister Rose assured him.
"Thanks, Sister Rose." Jack smiled.
"I do my best." Sister Rose smiled back.
Jack smiled before he took a deep breath and went to follow after the other kids who were running for their lives under Mother Barnabus's orders.
"Children?!" Sister Rose called out, looking around as she tried to find the missing kids.
Peter, Nibs, and Jill began to look around as they made it inside and started to sneak around as quietly as they could.
"Come on." Peter told Nibs and Jill as he got the door open.
"I don't like this. Fort Knox," Nibs frowned. "The lair of the dragon."
Peter and Jill came closer into the room and found the office door before flames shot from the inside, almost like there was a literal dragon inside the door.
"Whoa!" Peter cried out as that startled him.
"There's an actual dragon in there!" Jill gasped, taking the warning too seriously. "We better come up with a plan."
"I have an idea," Peter said. "Come here. Both of you."
Nibs and Jill both came over to Peter's side.
"I sure hope you know what you're doing." Jill said.
"Of course I do," Peter replied. "I wouldn't suggest it if I wasn't sure."
"Heh..." Jill grinned nervously before putting her hands behind her back.
"Don't worry, you just stand there and look out for us," Peter said. "Nibs will do the heavy lifting."
"I will?" Nibs asked with wide eyes.
Peter soon came over to Nibs who then hunched down and Peter began to climb up on his friend's shoulders and Nibs soon handed Peter one of his shoes.
"Could you just--" Nibs grunted.
"Quiet!" Peter told him before shattering the glass on the door with the shoe.
Mother Barnabus is seen counting the orphans as they go down to the shelter while the alarm was still going off. "19..." she then counted as an orphan went down to the shelter before another went down. "20." After the last orphan went down to the shelter, Mother Barnabus knew that there were still some that had not gone down to the shelter one in particular.
Jack frowned, feeling lost without Jill there by his side.
Peter and Nibs explored the room they made it into as Jill kept a look out for them outside the door.
"Ugh. What a dirty old nun." Peter groaned as he found a pair of bloomers.
"I don't think you should be messing with those." Jill said to him.
"Sorry," Peter smirked as he put them away before finding an old ship in a bottle before blowing the dust off of the bottle. "This is so unhygienic."
"Why is the Virgin Mary so clean?" Nibs then asked.
Peter looked over to see what looked like a figurine of the Virgin Mary from The Bible in a praying position. He then saw something weird about it before he grabbed the nose and turned it as Nibs yelped and seemed to fall right through the floor. He then looked over to see that his friend was missing. "...Nibs?"
"Down here!" Nibs cried out as he had fallen through some sort of trapdoor.
"Nibsy!" Peter called out as he ran to the trapdoor.
"Well, looks like we now know why Virgin Mary is so clean." Jill said.
"Don't just stand there; help me save him!" Peter told her firmly.
"Okay, Peter." Jill replied nervously.
"I told ya, booby-trapped." Peter then smirked at both Jill and Nibs once he saw hidden crates of food.
Jill backed away slowly.
"Well, come on," Peter told her. "You're not gonna be a scared girl for the rest of your life, are ya?"
"I wouldn't want to be, no." Jill said softly.
"Then come on." Peter said before hopping down to go and join Nibs.
"I sure hope that Mother Barnabus hasn't noticed us not with the others." Jill said before hopping down to join Peter and Nibs.
"I'm sure we'll have plenty of time before she notices." Peter replied.
Jill soon looked all around with Peter and Nibs in the underground room. "Man... It's like Treasure Island down here, but with food... Delicious food..." she then said in amazement.
"Yeah... A treasure trove." Peter agreed as they explored.
"Flippin' heck!" Nibs beamed, opening up a chest of gold coins and quickly filled his pockets with them.
Peter found a pack of sugar and instantly gulped it down.
Jill found some cookies and ate one before packing a few extra to share with Jack later.
Nibs soon found a jar of honey and ate it up before seeing a back door and removed the tarp over it before finding something hidden. "Peter! Girly!" he then called out to both Peter and Jill as he saw packed up piles of paper everywhere on shelves. "It's the records!"
"Whoa." Jill said.
"We better start looking." Peter told her.
"For what?" Jill asked.
"Our records." Peter and Nibs replied.
"Uh... Sure... Okay," Jill blinked before shrugging. "Quick question?"
"Yes?" Peter asked.
"What kind of records are you looking for?" Jill asked.
"Sister Rose said when I came here, there was a letter with me," Peter said to her. "This is very important to me if I can find it because then maybe I can find out what happened to my mother and why I'm here."
"Ooh. Good reason. So, then let's start searching." Jill said.
Peter, Nibs, and Jill began to start searching the records, hoping to find Peter and Nibs' records before they would get into trouble.
"There are so many records here; I can already tell Mother Barnabus kept all these well hidden." Jill said while searching.
"Tell me about it," Peter scoffed. "I'll be an old man by the time I find something useful."
Eventually, after a little while had passed...
"Peter!" Nibs called out to his best friend and took out a certain folder. "It's your file."
Peter looked over and soon took it before opening it to see the letter from his long-lost estranged mother.
"I think that's the letter." Jill gasped to Peter.
"Is it from your mum?" Nibs asked as Peter took the letter. "What does she say?"
Peter looked like he was struggling to read the letter before frowning and shaking his head. "I can't. Will you read it?" he then asked one of them.
Nibs took the letter and began to read it to himself.
"...I think he meant aloud, Nibs." Jill said to the boy.
"Oh," Nibs blinked before he soon read the letter aloud for his best friend. "'My dearest Peter. Everything I have done, I have done because I love you. I long for the day that I can come back for you and explain everything. Don't doubt me nor most importantly, don't doubt yourself. You are extraordinary. More than you can imagine. I promise that you will see me again, in this world or another'."
They soon heard a bomb going off outside.
"We better get back to the others." Jill told Peter and Nibs.
"Come on then." Nibs agreed.
The three soon looked over to the hole.
"How're we gonna get up through there?" Jill wondered.
"Children... There you are," Sister Rose sighed in relief as she knelt over. "How did you get down there?"
"It's... Kind of a long story." Peter replied nervously.
"All right, let's get you out of there." Sister Rose said as she reached out to help the kids out of the trapdoor and back on the upper floor.
"Thanks, Sister Rose." Jill smiled.
"Now let's get you children back to the others before Mother Barnabus has a field day with you three." Sister Rose said.
"Yes, Sister Rose." Nibs and Jill said.
Sister Rose began to escort the three out of the way.
"Sister Rose, you naughty troublemaker." Mother Barnabus glared.
"Oh... Hi..." Sister Rose grinned nervously. "I was just about to send these three off to bed."
"I don't think so," Mother Barnabus glared. "I think we need to pay a visit into my office."
"I-Into your office?" Sister Rose smiled nervously.
"Yes. Why? Is there a problem?" Mother Barnabus asked.
"Uh, no. No, of course not." Sister Rose smiled nervously.
Jill made sure to hide the letter Peter's mother from Mother Barnabus. Mother Barnabus narrowed her eyes before forcing the kids into her office.
"Me too?" Jill asked. "But... I... I'm not from around here."
"I don't care, you're coming too." Mother Barnabus decided sharply.
"But that's not fair." Jill frowned.
"Life, my dear, is NOT fair." Mother Barnabus replied firmly.
Soon, they were in the woman's office, while Sister Rose felt so sad for the kids for getting in trouble like this as she was just hoping that they wouldn't get in trouble. It soon got worse as Mother Barnabus snatched the letter from Jill's hold.
"That's my private property! Give it back!" Peter cried out.
"You can't take it!" Jill added.
"You know, Peter, every little orphan dreams he's special," Mother Barnabus sneered as she grabbed the letter and soon began to rip it into shreds. "That he'll be the one whose mother comes a-skipping back for him, but your mommy's not for skipping. And why is that, hmm? Because you're not special, Peter."
Jill and Peter firmly pouted at Mother Barnabus.
"You're not even special in your own way," Mother Barnabus continued cruelly. "You're just a nasty little creature abandoned by a feckless mommy who's forgotten you exist."
Then, something unexpected happened, as Jill joined Peter as they both lunged out and attacked Mother Barnabus, grunting. Sister Rose gasped before trying to restrain both of them before they would get in any worse trouble, but it seemed unlikely that they would get out of trouble tonight.
"Oh! You little savages!" Mother Barnabus scowled as she pushed them off. "One of you bit me!"
"And I'm not sorry I did it!" Jill glared. "You're unfit to look after this place! It should be run by someone nicer and more friendly like Sister Rose! She's more of a mother than you'll ever be!"
"Well, I never!" Mother Barnabus glared back.
"I'll bet you haven't!" Jill snapped. "Why don't you stop picking on these poor boys who have already lost their homes and families and just get your own life?!"
Mother Barnabus looked very angry as she brought out a ruler. "Hands! The three of ya!" she then demanded.
"He never did nuthin'!" Peter said as Nibs was in trouble too then.
"He's guilty by association," Mother Barnabus stated firmly. "It is time for the pine."
"You are a heartless vile woman!" Jill spoke up fiercely. "I hope God sends you to Hell because that is where a woman like you belongs! You are unkind, ruthless, and above all, uncaring! I bet you've never cared about anyone besides yourself!"
"Hands, now." Mother Barnabus told her.
"I just don't understand why you were put in charge of the orphanage with of how cold-hearted, selfish, greedy, vile, and evil that you are!" Jill glared.
"HANDS!" Mother Barnabus glowered. "And for your insubordination, you get a double dose!"
"That was very brave, but you really shouldn't talk to her like that." Peter said to Jill.
"I don't care," Jill firmly pouted before sighing in relief. "Phew... That actually felt pretty good... I've never stood up for myself before."
"I'm glad you feel better cuz we're about to feel worse." Nibs then told her as their punishment was on its way.
Soon, the three kids were whacked as punishment as Sister Rose flinched and winced for them, feeling bad that they had to endure such treatment. After the kids were hit on their hands with the ruler, it was time for them to go to bed.
"I'm very sorry," Sister Rose said softly. "I do wish I could make it better and easier for you all."
"Then why don't you inform the ones that put her in charge, telling them about everything's she's been doing?" Jill asked her.
"Oh trust me. If I could I would, but things are complicated." Sister Rose said.
Jill frowned a bit.
"I'm afraid I don't make the rules, I just report them," Sister Rose replied. "I'm really sorry. So, why don't we get you back to your brother and friends, huh?" she then asked. "Peter and Nibs need to get some sleep."
Jill looked over at the boys as they were on their way to their room.
"It's really not a good idea for young boys and young girls to share rooms together at this age," Sister Rose said, putting her arm around Jill and escorting her away from the sleeping quarters. "Come, you'll see them tomorrow, I promise."
"Okay, Sister Rose." Jill replied softly.
Jack was seen pacing around, waiting for his sister before he heard Sister Rose coming in with Jill. "Jill!" he then smiled as he went over and hugged his sister. "Thank goodness you're alright."
"Well, I am okay. My hands, not so much." Jill replied.
"What happened?" Jack asked in concern.
"Mother Barnabus hit me because I was trying to defend and protect Peter and Nibs." Jill pouted.
Jack narrowed his eyes. "She did WHAT?" he then asked firmly.
"Oh, Jack, it was terrible," Jill began to cry before hugging him again. "That woman is truly heartless and shouldn't be in charge of an orphanage."
"I couldn't agree more." Jack said.
"Well, get some sleep children." Sister Rose said softly.
"Thank you, Sister Rose." Jack and Jill replied thankfully.
"It's my pleasure," Sister Rose smiled softly. "I do wish that I could help make things better."
"You remind us so much of someone back home," Jack said. "Someone like our mother."
"...Your mother?" Sister Rose then asked. "So... You do have a family back home?"
"We were adopted, but yes," Jill replied. "We love our new parents and the dwarves very much, especially with our honorary aunts in our little group together like our new friends in their League of Justice."
"Oh... How very creative..." Sister Rose smiled. "Good night, dears. Hopefully things get better by sunrise at least, even if you aren't permanently living here."
"We hope so too." Jill said.
"Yeah." Jack nodded.
Jack and Jill both soon went to the beds that they were given as they got some sleep. Atticus, Cherry, Lionel, Mo, Thor, and Patch looked over.
"Good night, guys," Cherry said. "Ooh... Jill, you okay? Your hands are looking a little red."
"I tried to stand up for myself, Nibs, and Peter, but that mean old lady wouldn't listen." Jill firmly pouted.
"Yeah..." Cherry nodded as she understood that. "She seems like a real Trunchbull."
"That depends, would Trunchbull tear up a letter from Peter's mother?" Jill asked firmly.
"She did what?" Patch growled.
"It's true. I saw her do it." Jill said.
Patch snarled viciously.
"So, what're you gonna do? Bite her and then get us thrown out?" Cherry asked Patch.
"Well... No, but I think she has to pay," Patch replied firmly. "One way or another, like the villains we all faced with both The Justice League and The Avengers Grimm."
"I like that idea, so we should probably treat her to something in the morning." Lionel smirked a bit diabolically.
"If we do that, she'll want to know who 'treated' her." Atticus said.
"I'm on board." Thor said.
"All right," Lionel smirked. "Let's make this a fun time."
Jack and Jill yawned a bit as they got comfortable in the beds that were there for them.
"You guys get some sleep," Lionel said to them. "You've had a long day."
"Thanks, Lionel." Jack nodded as Jill brought out the teddy bear that Goldie gave to them.
"Also... In case you feel homesick..." Lionel said before bringing out a framed picture of the twins with Snow White and King Charming like a family portrait.
"Whoa... That's amazing..." Jack said as he took it in amazement. "Where did you get this?"
"Believe it or not, I made it," Lionel smiled softly. "You can look at it before you go to bed if you ever get sent on missions or adventures away from Snow White and Charles. I know how much they mean to you two."
"Thanks, Lionel." Jack and Jill smiled back.
"You're welcome." Lionel replied with a small smile.
"We better get some sleep for tomorrow." Mo said.
Jack and Jill looked at each other and soon went to get some sleep.
"It'll be okay," Cherry told the twins. "You'll see, it'll be just fine."
"I sure hope so." Jack said softly.
"Me too." Jill added.
The two then drifted off to sleep as Lionel took notes.
"Remember to get some sleep too, Lionel." Mo reminded.
"Oh, I will," Lionel nodded. "Just recapping our adventure so far and how to put that hard case Mother Barnabus in her place."
"With the time of year we're in right now, it'll be rather interesting." Patch said.
"Still couldn't hurt to try." Lionel replied.
"Good point." Patch nodded before he began to fall asleep.
Jack and Jill both yawned sleepily and soon went to get ready for falling asleep. Cherry lightly stroked their hair and everyone else seemed to fall asleep, except for maybe Lionel as he sat beside the perky goth. Cherry and Lionel soon fell asleep next as everyone else was sound asleep. Jill soon woke up, smacking her lips, and soon went to get a glass of water.
Sister Rose was praying beside her bed, looking rather angelic and smiled, having short black hair that almost seemed familiar if it was a bit longer. "God bless all of the darling little children who I wish I could adopt and raise each as my very own," she then said. "Especially our new arrivals: Cherry, Atticus, Mo, Lionel, Patch, and especially the darling two, Jack and Jill, who are just the sweetest little dears I have ever seen, especially with little Jill befriending Peter to hopefully keep him out of trouble," She then heard someone getting a drink of water. "Who could that be?" The woman soon asked herself. "And up at this hour of the night?"
Jill was seen drinking a glass of water.
"Oh... Hello there, dear," Sister Rose sighed a bit. "You frightened me a little."
"Sorry... I was thirsty." Jill replied softly.
"That's okay," Sister Rose smiled softly. "But children really shouldn't be seen or heard after lights out."
"Sorry, I'll try to be more quiet next time." Jill said softly.
"Well, after you finish your drink, head on to bed." Sister Rose told her softly.
"I will." Jill nodded.
Sister Rose smiled warmly.
"There really is something familiar about you, but I can't place it." Jill said to the short-haired woman.
"Oh, I'm sure it'll come to you soon," Sister Rose replied. "Now, run off to bed before Mother Barnabus finds you up."
"Yes, ma'am," Jill replied before she went back to her temporary bedroom. "Good night, Sister Rose."
"Good night, Jill dear." Sister Rose smiled.
Unknown to anyone, as they went to bed, a flag was raised and it was black with a skull and crossbones which usually symbolized pirates from a ship.
Jill began to make her way back to bed as she looked ready to get some sleep. 'Why do I get the feeling that something big is gonna happen tonight?' she soon thought to herself.
Chapter Text
It was a very sleepy evening for the orphans, though Jack and Jill both started to have trouble sleeping. Since they were twins, they could feel each other's pain and sickness and since Jill was worried while sleeping, Jack began to feel worried with her, though he tried to sleep off whatever it was. Patch slept soundly before his ear went up, disturbing his sleep as he got up and looked around before biting on Atticus's sleeve, whining and lightly growling.
"Okay, boy, okay..." Atticus mumbled as he got out of bed briefly and opened the door for him. "Go outside, Patch."
Patch then went out the door once it was opened and began to follow the sound to what he heard. Inside the boys' sleeping quarters, someone kept coming down with a rope and began to take some of the boys while they were sleeping. And where it didn't seem to disturb anyone from their sleep while that was going on. That was, until Nibs heard something fall on one of the boys' beds as it was a teddy bear. Patch continued to follow what he heard before seeing what it was.
"What's this?" The young Dalmatian whispered to himself in concern.
Peter and Nibs were still trying to sleep until Peter rolled over in his bed and gasped as a bright light shined in his face and woke him up. Someone swooped down from the ceiling and snatched one of the other boys.
"NIBS!" Peter cried out, going to his best friend.
"Peter!" Nibs replied as he began to do the same.
"Oh, my gosh! I gotta tell everyone!" Patch panicked as he went to wake up the others so that they could help before stopping himself. "But wait... They could be kidnapped too. Oh... What to do?"
"I told you it would happen tonight," Peter told Nibs as they hide under their beds. "I was right!"
More and more kids were soon heard and seen getting kidnapped by more and more people as they kept coming down from above.
"What's going on?" Atticus groaned as he could hear what was going on with his super hearing.
"Atticus, stop talking in your sleep, I'm trying to get some rest here." Cherry grumbled.
"Go outside if you're going to make so much noise." Lionel added.
"Guys, I think the kids might be in trouble," Atticus said before he rubbed his eyes. "I think we better check on the boys."
"Ugh. Fine." Cherry groaned.
"Alright." Mo yawned as she got out of bed.
"Let's get going." Jack added, yawning too as he got up.
Atticus soon jumped out of bed and helped the others out after him.
"Always whenever I have a great dream..." Lionel mumbled to himself. "Okay, Patch. Lead us to victory."
The group was in agreement and so they ran off, going to take them into the sleeping quarters so that they could probably help the boys.
Unknown to anyone else though, Peter was under the beds and was crawling away as he watched as the boys were snatched out of bed, one-by-one.
"Guys, good, you're here." Patch said once they all caught up.
"Hmm... I smell rum... Bottles of rum..." Lionel remarked. "Definitely sounds like a pirate attack."
"It sounds too crazy to be true, but at this point in my life after finding out that Fairy Tales are real, I believe just about anything." Cherry rolled her eyes.
"But wait, why would pirates be here?" Jill whispered to the others.
"Maybe so they can get some free cabin boys against their own free will." Jack whispered back.
"Yeah, but how come they chose this orphanage?" Thor whispered.
"I'm afraid to find out the answer to that question." Lionel whispered back.
A pirate soon swooped down and grabbed Jack, taking him next.
"JACKIE!" Jill cried out for her twin brother, reaching out for him.
"JILLY!" Jack cried back as he reached out for her only to be taken next.
Thor glowered as his eyes glowed before he made a lightning ball in the palm of his hand before trying to shoot it at the pirate. The pirate yelled in pain and frustration, getting electrocuted, but kept leaving with Jack.
"Nice shot though," Cherry told Thor sincerely. "Really, that was good."
"Thanks." Thor replied softly.
"You know what this means, right?" Mo asked the others.
"Yep. Time to get caught by pirates." Patch said.
"Well, here we go." Atticus said as he stood still.
"Get caught by pirates?" Cherry asked before flailing out. "We should be calling the police!"
"911, what's your emergency? Ah, yes, there are some boys being taken by pirates. Can you please assist us?" Lionel simulated, using puppets as a demonstration.
Cherry gave him a deadpan look.
"NIBS!" Peter cried out as his friend was taken next.
"Peter, there you are!" Jill gasped. "Then I'm not too late."
"Jill? We gotta get out of here!" Peter told her. "There are pirates here!"
"But what about Nibs? We can't leave him behind!" Jill told him.
"We'll find someway to rescue him and the others." Peter replied.
"My brother was taken too." Jill then said.
"We'll help him too," Peter told her. "Now get down!"
Jill looked around before she soon fell down on her hands and knees, then crawled after Peter as she felt she had no other option.
"Hopefully Sister Rose understands," Peter said. "I know that she will help us. She cares the most about us orphans."
Jill followed as the pirates kept leaping inside the room, taking whichever boys they could find before the two came to the double doors and opened them to run out and get help.
However, the doors were suddenly opened up and Mother Barnabus was there and she kicked Peter right back into the room. "Goodbye, Peter!" she then told him sternly.
"Mother Barnabus? What's going on?" Sister Rose's voice asked from one of the other rooms.
"Sister Rose! Help! Pirates are kidnapping the boys!" Jill called out.
"Oh, my word!" Sister Rose gasped and frowned.
"Get back to your chamber!" Mother Barnabus scowled at Sister Rose.
"Stop it!" Jill cried out before she grabbed onto Peter's legs as a pirate caught him after he was kicked away.
"Let go!" Peter cried out as he was being lifted by one of the pirates and they were soon in a pirate's ship with the other boys.
"I've got to alert the authorities!" Sister Rose panicked. "I've got to get help... Yes, that's what I'll do! I'll run off and get help and--"
Mother Barnabus glared and soon elbowed Sister Rose against the wall and she hit the wall by her head. Sister Rose groaned a bit before that knocked her out, but luckily for her, only temporarily.
"Bothersome girl." Mother Barnabus scoffed.
"I never did like that woman." Lionel glared.
"With how she has shown no kindness at all, who would?" Patch whispered.
"So, what're we gonna do about the pirates?" Lionel asked.
"I know it's risky, but as I said, let them take us so that we can find out what they're up to and why they want the boys." Atticus replied before he was soon taken next.
"Ooh... This one's a strong one~" The pirate who grabbed Atticus said with a smirk and dark chuckle.
"I hate pirates, but if we must..." Cherry sighed before she waited for her turn to come.
A pirate soon grabbed her and took a look at her. "This one's a girl!" she then scoffed. "What good are girls anyway?"
"Uh... Well..." Cherry blinked.
"She could cook and clean for us if she don't give us bad luck." Another pirate suggested with a smirk.
"We could always use more than one to do the cooking and cleaning." A third pirate suggested with a smirk.
'Of course that's what they're going to make me Cherry and Jill do.' Mo thought to herself.
"There's another one down there!" One pirate called out.
"Get her too!" A second pirate added. "Say... That one's kinda dressed like a boy."
"Aw, heck no!" Mo cried out before she ran for her life and she was suddenly taken next.
Mother Barnabus seemed to smirk about the kids being taken away, but kept it to herself while the orphans panicked.
"I swear you will get your just desserts, madam!" Lionel glared at Mother Barnabus while being taken away.
"We shall see." Mother Barnabus smirked.
"I truly hate this." Patch muttered.
Soon, everyone looked around as they made it onto the pirate ship where several of the boys were, including Peter and Nibs.
Peter looked around and kept trying to look for a way out, but all he saw were pirates before he saw their flag. "Holy pudding!" he then gasped at the sight of the traditional pirate flag.
"Prepare to set sail!" One of the pirates called out.
Peter and Nibs looked over the edge of the ship as they were suddenly in the air.
"We've got to get out of here." Nibs told Peter.
"Ooh... I don't like heights..." Jill said nervously.
"We'll have to jump." Nibs suggested.
"I can't!" Peter told him.
"We have to! Come on!" Nibs replied before he jumped overboard.
Nibs soon fell through the air and then hit the roof of the orphanage, hurting himself as the ship began to set sail.
"Nibs!" Peter cried out for his best friend as the ship began to leave without Nibs.
"This is bad! This is bad!" Jill panicked.
"What do we do?" Mo asked.
"Join him?" Thor guessed.
"Are you crazy?!" Lionel asked Thor. "We could get hurt if we jump out after Nibs! Besides, we might miss since the ship is moving and end up as roadkill by sunrise!"
"Fair point." Thor nodded.
"So guess we're stranded on this ship." Jack said.
"Looks like it." Cherry said.
"Besides, if you just beat up all the bad guys and meddle like you usually do, this story would be way too short." Lionel muttered.
"What?" Atticus asked.
"Nuthin'," Lionel replied innocently. "You okay, Cherry?" he then asked the perky goth.
"I'm very annoyed at this situation right now." Cherry said.
"So nothing's changed in us at least," Lionel then remarked. "Good."
Peter looked around, very scared as they flew away from the orphanage in the pirate ship, passing by the night sky.
"Well, this is one way to travel." Jack said.
"Are all of us here?" Thor asked.
"I think so." Lionel replied.
Jill shivered from where she stood.
"Oh... Jill, there you are," Jack said in relief as he came over to his twin sister and hugged her warmly. "It's going to be okay."
"I'm just so scared of facing pirates," Jill said nervously. "Especially after just dealing with Bluebeard in Aunt Alice's Sinister Squad."
"You don't think anyone will notice the pirate ship, do you?" Thor asked.
"Something this big? Yeah, I think so." Lionel said.
"Well, we better stay together right, Patch?" Atticus asked as he looked over to where he thought Patch would be.
There was no answer then.
"Patch...?" Atticus asked in a panicky voice.
"Wuh-oh..." Thor mumbled. "I guess someone got left behind."
Atticus then began to panic, feeling lost and worried without Patch.
"Hmm... Well, if we truly need our Team Pet, I could always bring him back if I wanted to." Lionel suggested.
"With of how lost and worried Atticus is being, it looks like we might need him with us." Jack said.
"He must be a very special dog." Jill said.
"Well, they've been together ever since we found him, Lucky, Rolly, and Cadpig in that submarine." Cherry replied.
"A submarine?" Jack asked.
"It's a really long story," Atticus replied. "But yeah, the day I met Patch was a very happy day for me. Looked like my life was starting to pick up after meeting Cherry."
"Let's just hope Lionel doesn't take too long," Jill said with a small sigh. "...For your sake anyway."
Atticus nodded as they just waited along as they sailed through the sky that night.
"Incoming!" A pirate called out.
"Huh? What's that?" Cherry asked before yelping and ducking down as there was suddenly gunfire. "Somebody's shooting at us!"
"Well, this definitely tells us that The Air Force noticed us!" Mo yelped as she and the others joined her.
"Too bad they don't know there are children on board!" Jill added.
"This way," Peter whispered to Jill. "I found a place to hide away for now."
Jill nodded before following him and soon, so did the others. The group soon came into a safe room and hid during The Air Force attacked against the pirate ship.
"This is the last way I wanted to spend my evening." Cherry rolled her eyes.
The pirate ship continued to fly away from the warships through the skies.
"Ma'am, regarding identification of the enemy, um, aircraft, it rather resembles a, um..." A soldier reported from his plane, sounding nervous about explaining what he saw.
"Spit it out, man." A woman on the other line demanded.
"It looks like a pirate ship, ma'am." The soldier informed.
"...Come again?" The woman then asked as that sounded very strange.
"FIRE!" A pirate called out before shooting a cannon to shoot cannonballs back at The Air Force.
"Guys, maybe it's just me, but I think I see a train on the ground," Cherry said as they continued to fly around before she began to hold her stomach. "Also... I don't feel so good."
"Just hold it in." Jack told her.
"And Cherry, you're right, I just saw a train pass by on the ground." Atticus told her.
"But what model was it?" Mo asked.
"Uh... I'm not sure..." Atticus replied.
The pirate ship soon came up to a nearby window of the train, coming right beside it. Inside was a young boy who was playing with a toy plane before he saw the pirate ship right next to him. The ship soon tilted as they left the train tracks and soon splashed into the water. The group screamed and panicked as they tried to hold onto something as they slid across the floor as Cherry looked more sick to her stomach. A warplane continued to fly behind them, trying to shoot at them.
"Somebody do something to get us out of here!" Cherry cried out with a groan.
Peter looked down to see a net before falling out of the ship and grabbed onto it as the pirate ship continued to fly around and hit a bridge while the warplane shot at it, passing through the water. Peter screamed as he dangled from the net and screamed even more as he was almost shot at.
"Peter!" Jill gasped.
"We have to get him back up here!" Thor yelped. "And why hasn't Lionel come back yet with Patch?"
"One problem at a time." Jack told him.
"Come on, Atticus, let's help out Peter." Thor suggested.
"All right." Atticus nodded as they soon grabbed the net to help Peter up.
"Hold on, Peter!" Jill called out.
Peter either didn't hear her or was too busy panicking as he just kept panicking and screaming as the bullets kept nearly hitting him. It got even worse once the net caught on fire after a Hindenberg was shot and struck down and Peter began to try to blow out the flames on the net. Eventually, the net was pulled up and Peter was brought back on board with Atticus and Thor's help as a pirate glared and growled right behind them.
"Bluebeard...?" Jack asked wearily once he took a look at the pirate, but wasn't sure if it was him or not.
"Don't go dying," The pirate told Peter. "You're precious cargo."
"Am I?" Peter asked softly.
"Somebody thinks so." The pirate nodded.
"Is it my mother?" Peter asked hopefully.
"Going UP!" The pirate soon called out to the others on deck, ignoring Peter's question.
"Wait, what?" Mo asked.
The warplanes began to start going towards the ship on both sides before it started to go up, making the two planes miss them.
"If Lionel wanted to get back on the ship with Patch, now would be the time!" Thor yelped.
"Pfft... Maybe he just ditched us." Jack scoffed.
"Bite your tongue," Cherry scolded. "Lionel is not like that."
"Then where is he, hmm...?" Jack asked. "Yeah, that's what I thought."
The others tried to stay positive, but with Lionel and Patch gone, it was a little hard to do that. Peter soon found some rope and tied himself down before showing some rope to the others.
"Oh, good idea, Peter," Jill said as she took it and tied herself up too. "Maybe this should help us while we get to--Uh... Wherever we are going." she then added, covering up the truth from Peter in case it would ruin his destiny.
The pirate ship soon began to go high into the sky before a random note appeared.
"Don't worry, I didn't ditch ya guys, I found Patch and we're off to you-know-where - Lionel." The note read.
"You-know-where?" Peter asked out of confusion.
"Well, at least we know where we're going to be meeting them." Atticus said.
"But what is he talking about?" Peter asked. "Come on, guys!"
A plane was soon hit by one of the cannonballs and it was going down with flames all over the wings. The soldier in the plane soon grabbed a parachute and soon jumped out of the plane while the chance was still open. The ship kept riding upwards, going past the clouds, and into the dark sky, away from the chaos.
"...It's quiet," Cherry said. "Too quiet."
"That means we're out of their range of fire." Atticus said.
Peter soon began to start floating in the air as there wasn't gravity to keep him on the floor.
"One of us should keep him from floating away." Thor said.
Peter waved as he kept floating, enjoying it very much.
"Peter, get back here!" Jill gasped as she tried to go after him.
"No way!" Peter laughed. "This is the most fun I've ever had!"
"Wait... Are we in outer space?" Cherry asked. "How?! That's impossible!"
"Welcome to Looking Glass where nothing makes sense." Jack reminded with a cocky smirk.
"Very funny, Wonder Brat." Cherry rolled her eyes.
"Argh..." Jill groaned, then floated after Peter, trying to be careful as he kept getting further and further away from her.
Peter looked around as he floated away from the pirate ship and soon pushed beside the planet Saturn and Jill kept going after him, even if he was being stubborn about it.
"Boys..." Jill rolled her eyes before she soon grabbed onto Peter. "Gotcha." she then smirked.
"Aw, come on!" Peter complained before they both yelped and were suddenly pulled tightly on the rope and sent right back onto the ship, making Jill fall on deck, though Peter got struck right between his legs before he came back on deck with her.
"What happened?" Jill asked.
"I think we're arriving at our destination." Thor said.
"Then we might wanna embrace for impact." Jack replied.
"I feel sick again." Cherry complained.
"I don't think you're alone." Jill groaned as she sat up and rubbed her head.
The ship soon shot right down out of the sky and splashed into the water. After splashing, they soon lightly landed in new waters and came into a bright and shiny new place which could only be one place.
"Neverland..." The Toon Force whispered to themselves as it had to be the place.
They passed by bubbles filled with fish as they traveled into the strange new world. Peter looked around and smiled once they sailed in the air.
"So this is Neverland?" Jill asked.
"It must be." Cherry nodded at her.
"Wow." Jill smiled.
"Sure is no place we've ever been to before." Jack said.
They soon saw flying fish actually flying past them and into another bubble of water.
"Cool. Flying fish." Thor smiled.
In one of the bubbles, they saw a crocodile and where it soon looked as if it was looking at them.
"Whoa." Mo yelped.
Cherry looked wide-eyed before gulping and chuckling sheepishly at the crocodile.
"Never smile at a crocodile." Peter advised.
The pirates soon shouted as they began to free the children they took from the hatched room below and they soon came out to see where they had ended up outside of the orphanage.
"Get out here!"
"You little rat!"
"Make your move!"
"Come on, hurry up!"
"Move it! Come on!"
The boys soon joined Peter and the Toon Force at the sides of the ship as they explored and looked at the new sights and sounds of Neverland. They passed through the clouds as it suddenly became dark as they looked all around in wonder and awe.
"C'mon, fellas." Peter told the other boys before they ran to the front of the boat to see more of Neverland.
The pirates grinned as they continued to sail through the air before there were more pirates shown to be chanting and stomping.
"Is this Canada?" Peter blinked as they looked around.
"I don't think so." Jill said.
"Unless they have pirates chanting for us to entertain them." Jack said.
"Entertain them?" Thor asked. "Why don't I like the sound of that?"
"Look! There's other stuff in the sky!" Jill pointed out.
"Oh, my gosh, there are!" Jack replied once he saw that his twin sister was right.
There were other young boys in the crowd who were chanting along with the pirates. However, one looked terrified and was even shivering.
"SING!" The pirate behind him demanded, scaring him into changing with the others.
The pirates on the ship soon sang along before one stepped out between the others. "KNEEL!" he then demanded to the kids.
The kids soon fell down to kneel on their knees, except for Peter and the twins.
"I don't kneel for anyone!" Peter replied firmly.
"We're a prince and a princess, we shouldn't have to kneel." Jack added, referring to himself and his twin sister.
"Guys, you should show some respect," Atticus suggested. "I don't think you'd have much of a life to live if you didn't around here."
"Oh, you'll kneel to him," The pirate firmly told them. "He's the pirate all pirates fear! The original nightmare! The man they call Blackbeard!"
"Oh, joy," Cherry groaned. "Just what we need right now, a pirate to fear."
A pirate was seen coming out of the captains' quarters as he joined in the song/chanting. Cherry looked up and down at this so-called Blackbeard, wearing all black and hints of red, before she smirked, biting her lip, then took out a wooden bucket before laughing into it.
"Cherry!" The others quietly warned.
"He looks like The Evil Queen or somethin'~" Cherry quietly told them before laughing while cupping her mouth and trying not to laugh too loudly.
Luckily, no one else really heard her since the singing and chanting was too loud.
"SING FOR YOUR MASTER!" One pirate in the crowd called out sharply.
The singing soon ended as Cherry kept laughing before she looked around and cleared her throat before grinning sheepishly as it was suddenly silent and she was caught in the act of laughing.
"Sweet, gentle children. You who weep molten pearls of innocent tears, dry them, dear nippers. For I have sprung you from life's cruel dungeon, and hereby grant you liberty!" Blackbeard soon began to make an announcement.
Many pirates and boys in the area cheered and roared.
"Suffer no more. Come unto me. You are home," Blackbeard then continued. "Here you join orphans alike from every corner of the globe, every race, creed, and color. Every age and era. You are pioneers. Brave creators of a new society. For this, my poppets, is a land of opportunity!"
There was more cheering in between while Peter just looked confused with the twins and The Toon Force.
"My justice is divine," Blackbeard then said. "My laws are so simple you could write them on a pig's ear," he then smirked before he took out a pig's ear, making Mo cringe suddenly. "In fact, I have."
One of the pirates chuckled, finding that to be funny
"Law #1: 'Those who work with bright, honest vigor will be rewarded with prizes and trophies and confectionery'!" Blackbeard soon read aloud. "Law #2: 'Those who fail to work hard, those who skive or malinger, will hereby know the brooding majesty of my disapproval'," he then chuckled before suddenly flinging away the pig's ear, then spritzed his hands clean. "Mark me well. I know no pity. No second chances. I don't do mercy, but remember, don't forget to help yourselves to lots and lots of jolly old fun!" he then exclaimed in excitement. "Hey, kiddiewinks, welcome to Neverland!"
"So this is Neverland..." Cherry realized.
"Not at all like I imagined... Even if this was before Peter became Peter Pan." Mo added.
There was light growling heard as Atticus's pant leg was tugged and pulled on.
"Huh? What?" Atticus asked before looking down and gasped. "Patch! There you are!"
"Sorry for not joining you guys on the ship." Patch replied.
"Wait, if you're here, then that means Lionel isn't too far behind." Thor smiled.
"Great," Mo said. "Because we'll all need to be together while we're in Neverland."
"Yeah, Lionel's here," Patch replied. "He was gonna bring you guys too, but once he realized what was going on, he decided to come here while he still had the chance and plus, his teleportation skills are a little wonky."
"Well, he is a kid," Mo remarked before looking at Cherry and Thor. "...He is a kid, right? How old is Lionel supposed to be?"
Cherry and Thor mumbled awkwardly as they weren't sure themselves.
"The point is, Lionel would never ditch us," Mo then said, mostly to Jack and Jill. "He's apart of OUR family like Snow White and Prince Charming are apart of yours and anyone else in The Avengers Grimm."
"Yeah, I guess." Jack shrugged before crossing his arms.
"What're we supposed to do here?" Jill wondered.
"Get to work!" One of the pirates glared. "You kiddies are going to make yourselves useful around here."
"Of course we are." Cherry grumbled.
And soon, the orphan boys began to get to work which was like mining. Lionel poked his head out of a cabin before throwing something.
"Ow!" Thor yelped as he got hit before he picked up what hit him. "Huh? A gumball?"
The group soon looked over and saw that Lionel was over at a cabin that was a bit far away.
They looked around before they rushed over, going to hide in the cabin with him.
"Oh, there you are, Lionel," Thor smiled. "We were wondering about you."
"Yeah, sorry about that," Lionel replied. "I tried to bring you all into Neverland with me, but I guess I need to work on my teleportation skills a little bit."
"Yes. Do work on it." Jack nodded in agreement.
"The important thing is all of us are together." Atticus said.
"Yes." Patch nodded.
The others came to check out the cabin.
"So... Uh... Does Blackbeard know about this?" Cherry asked.
"Lionel figures that what Blackbeard doesn't know won't hurt us." Patch replied.
"Very impressive, Lionel..." Thor said.
"Yeah," Lionel replied as he rested on a hammock, drinking from a coconut shell like he was on a tropical island. "I just never knew discovering Neverland would be so exhausting."
"I'm just surprised Peter Pan knew Blackbeard." Thor said.
"Well, at least we now know how Peter ended up in Neverland." Mo said.
"And that crocodile in one of those bubbles must of have been Tick-Tock Croc." Jack replied.
"Good, you're learning," Lionel replied as he nodded. "That'll be very good."
"I just hope that we can help out Peter," Jill said softly while blushing before her eyes widened. "Erm... And the other... What was it you called them? Lost Boys?" she then asked bashfully.
"Yes, Lost Boys," Cherry replied. "Peter's future men army to square off against Captain Hook and his pirate crew."
"Oh... He sounds so amazing the way you guys talk about him." Jill smiled while blushing.
"Yes, he'll make a fine addition to Looking Glass," Jack added. "I'm sure Aunt Alice and Hatter will be pleased."
"Yeah, but I doubt Peter would want to leave Neverland that easy," Thor said. "After all, Captain Hook will still be here to try and take someone's treasure."
"We'll get there when we get there." Atticus said.
"What he said." Patch added.
"Uh, shouldn't we be getting back to Peter and the other boys before the pirates find out some of their workers aren't working?" Mo asked.
"Eh, don't worry about that," Lionel replied. "We won't get caught and I don't think we should do much unless we're really needed."
"And if those pirates realize we're not working?" Mo reminded firmly.
"They won't," Lionel said before coming over to a window and pointed out to the cave to show them something. "Look."
The others grouped together and looked out the window to see illusions of themselves working with the orphaned boys.
"Oh... That doesn't feel very fair," Jill frowned. "Maybe we should help out."
"If you want, but there's no need to worry," Lionel replied. "We'll get through this together. We're the Toon Force," he then reminded. "We helped The Avengers Grimm and Sinister Squad against Rumplestiltskin and other storybook villains, we helped Atticus find his long-lost parents, not to mention these guys took down Darkseid together before I showed up, so it's a team effort and we can do it together," he then reassured and comforted. "But perhaps you're right, Jill."
"Plus Peter's our friend and it wouldn't be right for us to be in here while he's working." Jill said.
"She's got a good point." Jack agreed.
"It would be like we're relaxing while he and the others are doing the hard work." Thor said.
"All right... Get ready for contact in 3... 2..." Lionel began.
Then suddenly, the group disappeared in a quick BLIP! of light and reappeared where their doubles were before they looked around and no one at the site seemed to notice anything different or unusual.
"Heigh-Ho, boys," Lionel said in a gruff, grumpy voice, lugging a pic-ax. "It's off to work we go."
"You sound like Queen Snow--I mean Mother's grumpy dwarf friend." Jack chuckled a bit.
Lionel then smirked as Jack and Jill laughed together.
"MORE HACKING AND LESS GIGGLING!" Blackbeard's voice snarled.
Jack and Jill yelped as they quickly got to work together.
Chapter Text
A bearded, glasses-wearing man, stepped out and looked around while the boys worked with the pirates. "Sam Smiegel, supervisor." the man then introduced himself.
"Sam Smiegel?" The group wondered.
"SMEE!" Lionel suddenly exclaimed in a cartoony pirate voice.
"Ohh." Thor whispered to himself.
"So that's who that is." Jack whispered.
"Then again what other pirate wears glasses?" Jill whispered back.
"Eh... Smee's not so much of a pirate, more of a goofy sidekick if you ask me," Lionel remarked. "Sorta like the Greasepit to his Limburger."
"Oh, yeah... Totally..." Mo nodded, though she felt confused.
"Biker Mice from Mars." Cherry told Mo.
"...I knew that." Mo replied, though it seemed to be a lie.
"Excuse me," Peter spoke up as he approached Smiegal curiously. "What for is we digging."
"Did no one explain?" Smiegal replied.
"I'm afraid not," Cherry said. "We don't know much either."
"We are mining for these little chaps," Smiegal explained as he took out a tiny box and unwrapped it before taking out some sort of mineral to show them. "Fairy dust, otherwise known as Pixum."
"Huh... Well, I'll be," Lionel remarked. "Fairies are real."
"Aunt Cinderella's fairy godmother gave her magic." Jill commented.
"Well, that explains her powers from the first Avengers Grimm adventure." Lionel then said.
"They were real. Yeah," Smiegal clarified. "There were millions of them all over the island."
"What happened to them?" Cherry asked as she fiddled with her glasses.
"Blackbeard hunted them into extinction." Smiegal replied.
"Why?" Peter then asked.
"For the fairy dust," Smiegal then informed. "You know. The old Pixum."
"What does he want with it?" Jack asked, though he sounded angry.
"I do not have any idea," Smiegal replied. "No one knows. No one has allowed to know."
Peter frowned a little bit, feeling concerned.
"Well! You best not dwell on it. Just... Get and move on!" Smiegal suggested before he walking away to make the other kids get to work so that they wouldn't get into trouble.
"Real fairies are actually real." Peter said.
"Well, that would explain how the pirate ship flew all the way from here to London." Thor replied.
"Hey! You kids!" A male voice spoke up.
The Toon Force, Jack, Jill, and Peter soon looked over to a man who was mining.
"That fat kid is right," The man replied as he continued to strike with his pic-ax. "You just got here on a flying pirate ship. 'Real' should be a very fluid concept for you right now. Get to digging." he then told them while working.
"I'm not fat, I'm big-boned." Thor pouted.
And so, everybody got to work for a while, and it began to become a real pain in the hands.
"Ooh... I think I got a splinter." Jill pouted and winced.
"BACK TO WORK!" Blackbeard shouted.
"If this is Blackbeard, then I'm terrified of what this Captain Hook you speak of must be like." Jill whispered to The Toon Force.
"We'll have to worry about that later." Thor whispered back.
"Agreed." Lionel nodded quietly.
"This Pixium sure is hard to find." Jack said.
The others kept working while they still could, though Mo stopped to tend to Jill's splinter, giving her a pair of tweezers, then gently and carefully plucked the splinter out.
"I just hope all of the pixies aren't dead." Jack remarked.
"Oh, I don't think so." Lionel said knowingly as he thought of possibly one pixie that they would meet since this was Peter Pan's origin story.
The group kept going until they had to stop and Peter frowned at the scars and injuries he had in the palm of his hand.
Give me your pic. Kid," A man demanded as he was lying there before he took his hand to take the pic part of the pic-axe before Mo bandaged Peter's hand. "Your hand has all messed up. Because your blade is blunted," he then began to sharpen the pic-axe for Peter, using what looked like a hook. "If you keep swinging like that, you are going to break your wrist."
Peter and the Toon Force and the twins then introduced themselves as Peter held out his hand to be shaken.
"How long have you been here?" Peter then asked the strange man.
"Forever." The man replied as he didn't shake Peter's hand before he finished what he had to do.
"Do you know why they want it so badly?" Peter then asked as he dropped his hand. "The Pixum?"
"You ask too many questions, kid," The man replied, shaking his head as he put his hat back on, over his eyes. "They kill for it. We die for it. End of the story."
Peter shrugged before smiling. "Thank you very much." he then said.
"Do not thank me," The man scoffed. "I do not care about you, I am not your friend, and, I do not have your back. Simple as that. Shoo, kids!" he then demanded as he leaned back, looking like he was about to take a nap.
"By any chance is your name James?" Lionel asked.
'Is he asking this guy who he thinks he is?' Jill thought to herself.
'Please let Lionel be right.' Thor thought to himself.
"What's it to ya?" The man scoffed.
"Someone got kicked out of charm school," Lionel snorted to himself. "Please just tell me?"
"Fine," The man rolled his eyes. "But yes, the name is Hook... James Hook."
"No way!" The group gasped at him.
Peter and Hook just looked confused.
"So you're gonna end up becoming Peter's sworn ene--" Jill began to say until Jack covered his twin sister's mouth as she muffled.
"Huh?" Peter asked.
"You two are very interesting," Hook scoffed as he looked at Jack and Jill. "I'm surprised they let a girl in whatever orphanage you came from since they usually separate boys and girls like at Old Lady Hannigan's place."
"Let's just say we're from somewhere very far away." Thor said.
"Whatever you say." Hook said.
A while later, they were back to work and where it seemed they still had a hard time trying to find Pixium until Peter saw something as he was mining and began to mine faster.
"Ugh..." Cherry groaned as she wiped her forehead. "I'm sweaty and I hate sweating."
Lionel brought out a portable fan for her.
"Ah... Thank you~..." Cherry sighed, accepting it as she used it for a little while.
"Fairy dust..." Peter gasped with wide eyes in excitement before he took a glowing chunk out that he found.
"I found some of it." A man said, taking the chunk away from Peter, stealing it instantly.
"It's mine! Now!" Peter cried out.
"Why that no good dirty baloney sandwich head!" Thor sneered.
"I found some!" The man called out as he came out of the caves to show the others, taking the credit away from Peter.
"That is mine!" Peter glared as he ran over beside the man. "Thief, I found it!"
The man then glared back at Peter and elbowed him in the stomach, making him fall on the ground. "Hey, Small Fry, button it!" he then scoffed at Peter.
"Why, that no good!" Jill glared.
Another man soon came into the crowd to collect the Pixium while facing Peter. Atticus soon helped Peter onto his feet before glaring at the man who stole the credit for finding the pixium.
"Give it to me." The other man demanded.
"It was mine!" Peter cried out in defense. "I found the fairy pixium! This bogey stole it. He said he found it."
"That means he found it," The second man sneered in Peter's face. "Clear?"
"Clear as the scar on your ugly face!" Lionel retorted.
"Ooh! Burn!" Thor called out before laughing.
Peter laughed along with the others as the scarred man sneered and growled at the group as Smeigal appeared to check on the situation.
"Take them to the Captain!" The second man demanded. "Disorder and verbal."
"Move out of the way. Move it," A third pirate growled as he grabbed Peter, carrying the boy over his shoulders while other pirates began to shove and push The Toon Force and the twins to go along with Peter. "Get out of the way!"
Peter glared at the scarred pirate and flipped him a V sign which was London's way of flipping someone off with their middle finger.
"We're going, we're going," Jack glared. "No need to get mad."
"Sheesh! These guys can be so impatient." Mo said.
"No argument about that." Thor agreed.
'This can't be the end.' Jill thought to herself.
'I just know this can't be the end.' Patch thought to himself.
"There... There is a procedure for this. You know," Smegial spoke up nervously. "You have not supposed to--"
"Shut it, Mr. Clipboard," The scarred pirate scoffed at him. "Let us see what Blackbeard makes of these nasty little thieves."
"Thieves?!" Mo glared. "We didn't do anything, especially us!"
"Who the Shell do you guys think you are?!" Lionel added.
Unfortunately for them, the pirates continued to ignore them as they were being escorted away with Peter.
Meanwhile, Blackbeard was being tended to by a couple of his minions. One was dressing him by the mirror while a muscular one stood in the back, looking like he had something to say.
"Did you find the natives' camp?" Blackbeard demanded to the muscular pirate.
"They found us, sir. They sprang from the trees," The muscular pirate informed. "And, laid waste to 40 of our most formidable men. Then they disappeared back into the forest. As if, they were never there."
Blackbeard began to look very unhappy about that idea.
"We will get them, Captain," The muscular pirate then quickly covered up. "Given the proper time."
"Time?" Blackbeard sneered. "I have sucked these mines dry. There is almost nothing left. I must have their lands," he then said as he left the mirrors and approached his work table with a map and model ships. "However, these savages continue to ambush my ships. Operating from some hidden camp. Which no one can seem to find yet you assure me all will be given the proper time. THERE IS NO TIME! NONE!" he then suddenly shouted.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and out came a sickly pirate. "Excuse me, Captain?"
"Hey! Ho. The show must go on," Blackbeard then smirked before looking at him. "How do the miners seem?"
"Dirty, feverish, on the brink of collapse, sir." The sickly pirate informed.
"Why must it be so hard?" Blackbeard sighed at the others before looking back. "So... Whom are we making an example today?" he then asked with a smirk as he came to meet the "insubordinates".
The pirates were all heard chanting again and where soon Peter and the others were soon shown being brought up there for their punishment.
"What's going on?" Peter asked.
"What do you think?" One of the pirates asked him as he shoved him to the plank.
'Okay, there must be something we can do to stop this.' Jill thought to herself.
"He goes first and the rest of you follow!" The pirate cackled at the group.
"Walking the plank? You must be pulling my leg!" Lionel glared.
Peter soon walked onto the plank before looking at all the way down as it would be a rather long and painful way down if he were to fall.
"Any clearer now?" The pirate smirked and mocked Peter.
"I should not have come here," Cherry groaned. "I have severe vertigo."
The pirates continued to chant as Blackbeard walked across the deck to see what was going on without him.
Peter wasn't the only one on a plank though as he saw a couple of other boys on other ships beside him about to go down too.
"Brave heroes of Neverland! Behold these traitors!" Blackbeard announced to his people. "I entrust their fate to your gracious whim. This barbarian and his cronies," he then began, talking about Peter as someone whispered to him the details. "Was caught squealing? From the grain store."
"Stealing." The minion corrected.
"Stealing." Blackbeard then corrected himself.
"Twice." The minion then added.
"Twice!" Blackbeard then added before asking, "Will you spare them?"
"NO!" The crowd yelled out in response.
"Or, do you lust for justice?" Blackbeard then asked.
"Justice!" The crowd replied.
"Yes!" Blackbeard beamed before hopping down on one plank, making the boy on it fly up in the air and soon fall to the ground below.
"Do they ever have mercy?" Peter whispered to the pirate behind him nervously.
"Yes! They do." The pirate nodded with a sinister grin.
"...Often?" Peter then asked hopefully.
The pirate shrugged from that question.
"That's very reassuring." Patch deadpanned.
"No kidding." Atticus added.
Blackbeard soon jumped right over to Peter's plank.
'Whatever he says next can't be good.' Thor though to himself.
"This group has been in our mines but one day, and, one of them has already proven himself to be a thief," Blackbeard soon spoke as Peter looked scared to death. "A rabble sourer and a Pixum fraudster."
"I never--" Peter spoke up nervously.
"I ask... Shall you have mercy for the willful children and their miserable mutt?" Blackbeard soon asked the crowd.
"NO!" The group called out before they all gave thumbs up to the group.
"Or, do you be nasty?" Blackbeard then grinned darkly.
"Nasty! Nasty! Nasty! Nasty!" The group chanted.
"What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?" Cherry spoke up sharply.
"You'll get your turn, little lady!" Blackbeard sneered at her before looking back at Peter. "Alack! The people have spoken. Think a happy thought. I will have be darned." he then added before stomping on the plank.
Peter yelped as he wobbled and fell right off, falling right for the ground while Jack and Jill panicked, not knowing what could possibly happen next.
"Who's next?!" Blackbeard glared at the group before grabbing Cherry. "How about you with the silver tongue in her mouth?"
"Uh, no thank you, I'm good," Cherry said before getting forced onto the plank. "I was gonna be next either way, wasn't I?"
"Aye." Blackbeard smirked.
Peter kept screaming as he kept falling, but then all of a sudden he stopped falling as he floated in the air which surprised everyone as they couldn't believe their eyes. Jack and Jill hugged each other as Jill was crying her eyes out since Peter had gone down first and was probably dead... As far as they knew. Peter blinked before looking around and began to look wide-eyed once he saw that he was floating.
"Jack! Jill! You've gotta see this!" Patch told the twins.
Jack glanced over curiously before looking over to the side and gasped before he patted Jill. Jill sniffled as she faced him before looking over as well and her eyes grew wide.
"Whoo!" Peter cheered as this was the best feeling ever for him.
"Well, I guess he didn't need faith, trust, and pixie dust." Cherry remarked.
"Or to think happy thoughts for that matter." Thor added.
"Amazing." Jill smiled.
Blackbeard turned to where he had thrown Peter overboard. Peter began to do some flips in the air while cheering. Jill wiped her eyes with a small sniffle as she smiled fondly at Peter.
"I do not believe it!" Peter beamed as he had fun with his brand new ability. "I can fly!"
"So how is he flying without pixie dust?" Jack asked the group.
"Uh... I'm not sure..." Cherry replied thoughtfully. "I don't think the story we grew up with ever explained it."
"I think this might be what his mother meant by him being special or possibly one of the reasons." Atticus said.
"You just might be right." Jack nodded.
"How long do you think he'll stay flying?" Jill asked.
"No idea." Mo shrugged.
Peter kept flying around before he suddenly hit his head and was knocked out.
"PETER!" The group panicked.
"You know that boy pretty well, huh?" Blackbeard grinned at the group.
"What's it to ya?" Lionel glared.
"I think I'd like to speak with you all and him in private." Blackbeard then said.
"Yes, Captain." Atticus said with a salute.
'Well, at least we're not getting thrown overboard,' Cherry thought to herself. 'Then again if we did, then this adventure would have a short but sad ending.'
"All right," Lionel rolled his eyes before groaning. "We'll talk with ya, but I got a feelin' that I ain't gonna like it."
"Come now, you can trust me." Blackbeard grinned.
"No, I don't think we can." Thor mumbled.
"You said it, big guy." Lionel agreed.
Jill bit her nails nervously since Peter was still knocked out.
"Ah, don't worry, girly," Blackbeard smirked at her fear. "Your little boyfriend will be okay, especially after I talk to him."
"B-Boyfriend?" Jill blushed.
"We'll see." Jack whispered to himself.
A while later, they were soon seen in a room on the ship as Peter woke up. The group was shown to be hanging out there.
"So you know why Peter Pan never gets grounded?" Lionel asked. "Because he 'never lands'!"
There was then a random rimshot as Thor laughed out loud while the others looked awkward.
"...Yeah, not my best joke," Lionel shrugged before looking at Jack and Jill. "I'll tell ya more later."
"Guys...?" Peter spoke up softly.
"Oh, look. Our new friend is awake." Cherry soon said.
"...Where are we?" Peter asked them.
"I think this is probably Blackbeard's office," Atticus guessed. "He said he wanted to talk with us in private."
"Erm... Are you okay, Peter?" Jill asked as the boy got up on his feet and came to explore the room.
"Yeah... I'm okay..." Peter said as he explored. "I'm not sure if being in this room is a good idea though."
"Trust us, being in here with that guy isn't exactly what I'd call a good idea." Cherry said.
"Who would?" Thor asked.
"So why are we around here for?" Peter scoffed.
"We might as well see what he wants." Cherry shrugged.
"But if he tries anything, I've got a couple of plans," Lionel spoke up before smirking. "Especially with giving him a makeover."
"He looks like Snow White's step-mother, The Evil Queen, from the book." Jack said before taking out the book that he and Jill had found in Snow White and King Charming's libary.
The others looked over before chuckling at how The Evil Queen looked and how similar she looked to Blackbeard's current outfit.
"Neverland is a dream from which you never wake. Ever had that one?" Blackbeard spoke as he came towards the group, wearing a coat that looked more professional than what he was wearing from when everyone had first met him. "A dreadful nightmare you know is not real. However, your sleep is so heavy... So, deep, so delicious… That you just cannot wake up. Drowning in sleep. Slow dream. Drowning in the soft, Black Sea... Do you know that sea, children?" he then asked them rhetorically.
"You're just describing my life before I moved away from my parents, buddy." Cherry replied cynically.
"Charming..." Blackbeard chuckled. "It is death, children. Murmuring to you. It is where we end. Most of us." he then added darkly.
Jill shivered and whimpered nervously before Jack carefully hugged her to comfort her.
"Would you all like some chocolate?" Blackbeard then offered.
Peter soon looked over to the chocolates before looking back to Blackbeard who simply gestured for Peter and the kids to go and each take a piece of chocolate.
'Well, it has been a while since we ate.' Jill thought to herself.
Lionel shrugged before he decided to take some chocolate anyway, though he wasn't much of a candy eater.
"Well... At least it's not cod liver oil." Thor chuckled bashfully.
Cherry coughed a little since she ate a lot of chocolates. "Can I get a glass of water?" she then asked as eating chocolate always made her thirsty.
"Perhaps... But you should learn a lesson..." Blackbeard smirked before a "ZING!" sound was heard as he then drew out a sword right behind their backs. "Childhood is not so jolly. In fact, it is rather frightening... Agree?"
Peter sharply turned around before his eyes widened as Blackbeard pointed his sword right at him, lifting up his panpipe necklace slightly, luckily his blade not touching the boy's flesh.
"Whoa! Buddy... Put down the sword and maybe we can talk about this..." Thor said nervously.
"Are you brave, Peter?" Blackbeard asked. "Are your friends brave?"
"We try to be." Mo spoke up as bravely as possible.
The others simply nodded in silent agreement.
"Yes! Of course!" Blackbeard agreed before looking Peter dead in the eyes. "...Are you scared?"
"...Yes." Peter admitted nervously.
Blackbeard gave him another look while the others watched closely in case something bad had happened. "Have you ever flown before?" he then asked the boy.
"No." Peter then shook his head.
Blackbeard eyed the group and soon simply held out his sword in front of Peter.
'Wait, is he wanting Peter to accept his sword?' Jill thought to herself.
Peter soon accepted the sword from Blackbeard who looked a little soft before walking over to one of the windows.
'This just became more interesting.' Patch thought to himself.
"Beyond that wall, there are savage people. They have an ancient prophecy," Blackbeard informed Peter and the others before glancing out the window into the far off horizon. "From when the fairy kingdoms reigned on this island, the prophecy tells of a boy born of the love, between a fairy prince and a human girl. A boy who would be disappeared from this world until he was old enough to return and lead an uprising against me. A boy, so says the prophecy--"
"Who could fly?" Peter guessed.
Blackbeard then looked back at Peter before nodding, looking at him quizzically. "Have you come to kill me, Peter?" he then asked.
"I do not believe in bedtime stories." Peter simply stated.
"But fairy tales are real." Jill frowned because of where she and Jack had come from.
"No, they aren't." Peter told her, not knowing the truth.
"Oh, you'll change your mind later on." Jack said.
"Uh-huh. Sure." Peter muttered.
'Once he sees a real fairy, he'll change his mind.' Atticus thought to himself.
"My brother and I were adopted and raised by Snow White and Prince Charming, we've faced Rumplestiltskin, and we're part of a group called The Avengers Grimm!" Jill told Peter sharply.
"Fairy Tales..." Peter rolled his eyes. "You need to learn how to grow up."
Jill glared, nearly growling.
"Perhaps you all need a lesson in learning how to grow up," Blackbeard said before grinning darkly. "Behind bars~"
"Oh, trust us. We've learned about growing up," Atticus told him. "After all, we've faced many dangers."
"Yeah and we've seen many things some fantastic and some dangerous, but most importantly we've learned things growing up." Mo said.
'That's right.' Patch thought to himself.
"Don't... FUSS with me." Blackbeard told them sternly.
And so, the group was suddenly behind bars. Peter took something out from his pocket which was his estranged birth mother's letter and he was struggling a bit.
"Peter... Forgive me for asking, but can you not read?" Atticus asked.
"Not very well." Peter frowned.
"Well, we'd be more than happy to teach to read." Mo smiled.
"Thanks." Peter replied.
"What are friends for?" Jill asked.
"Well... I guess you should know," Peter said before sighing. "I can read a little, but sometimes... Letters get mixed up and all over the place."
"Ah... You have something called dyslexia," Atticus then said. "I figured you couldn't read very well when you asked Nibs to read your mother's letter to you."
"Yeah..." Peter nodded. "The letters get mixed up and I get confused. I can't help it though, so don't blame me."
"We're not blaming you, Peter," Mo coaxed. "Not everyone can do everything, though it helps to have someone to help you out to at least do better than you were before."
"Yeah... Atticus helps me out with Math most of the time," Cherry remarked. "So we'll at least try to help you how to read a little better. Whatya got so far?" she then asked.
"One of the shredded pieces from Mother Barnabus." Peter said, showing the remains of his mother's letter.
"Hmm..." Thor paused as he leaned over a bit to see the note. "Looks like that says 'or another' based on what I'm seeing."
"I wonder what she meant by that?" Peter said.
"Well, I think she might have meant here or Heaven." Jill replied.
Peter gave her a look.
"Or... It might not be Heaven..." Jill said sheepishly. "I... Uh... I wouldn't worry about it too much."
A group of men were soon shown to be walking past the prison cell before one was thrown into another cell. The others just sat there as that probably didn't concern them until the wall right behind Peter began to crumble apart as a hole was being carved into the wall.
"Hey! Fly Boy and friends!" A voice called from the hole in the wall before showing his face.
"Hook? Is that you?" Thor asked as he peeked into the hole a bit.
"Yeah, it's me," Hook replied. "That was some little airshow your flying friend put on out there. Could he do that again?" he then asked them.
"Uh... Maybe..." Jack said. "Whatya think, Peter?"
"Of course I can fly!" Peter defended. "You saw me."
"Good," Hook nodded then. "Put your ear to that wall over there."
Peter looked curious before he soon did what was asked of him before he heard something.
"Now that is the sound of a blast cap," Hook then instructed. "I stuck to the other side... Set to go off in 30 seconds."
"If I fly, you help me and my friends find my mother," Peter began to tell Hook. "I have a feeling she's here on the island."
"It's no negotiation, kid," Hook replied. "Without me, you and your friends are stuck in these cells."
"Without him, you're stuck behind these walls." Jill told Hook.
"I hate to admit it, but I think Hook might be onto something," Jack added. "He could be our only way out of this dump."
Peter was still pausing thoughtfully while the others relied on him and what his own final, confirmed answer would be.
"Okay! Then we' will talk about it. Just move away from that wall before, you get yourself blown up," Hook told Peter urgently then. "All right?"
"So, what is it going to be?" Peter asked Hook then.
"Quit stalling!" Cherry called out. "I don't think we have much of a choice in waiting much longer!"
"I just need to think about this and see if I can trust him." Peter retorted.
"Kid!" Hook cried out.
"Tick... Tock..." Peter then began to say slowly.
"Okay! We have a deal, just--" Hook began to tell him.
Then suddenly, the wall burst and exploded, pushing Peter right off of the wall and slamming into the cell bars instantly.
"...Fly Boy?" Hook asked, a bit concerned.
They soon left the prison and ran right out before Cherry yelped and nearly slid off the cliff before coming right back, looking incredibly nervous from her vertigo and fear of heights.
Chapter Text
"Hurry! Slide down!" Hook urged the kids. "They will be coming for us!"
Peter looked hesitant before he soon slid down and the others began to join him.
"I feel siiick!" Cherry cried out on the way down.
"Don't worry! I won't let ya get hurt!" Lionel promised her.
"Wahoo!" Patch cheered with a howl.
"This is fun!" Thor cheered.
"When it comes to sliding, how is it not fun?" Jill giggled while sliding down.
"Even in situations like this!" Mo added.
Cherry just groaned, looking a bit sick to her stomach.
"Well, not fun for everyone." Lionel remarked, though luckily, Cherry didn't throw up this time.
Meanwhile, the pirates and boys continued to mine, working all day and night without a proper break.
"Left foot in front of the other. Put the right one in front of the other," Smiegal began to order around the boys as a couple of large baskets flowed through the water, covered up in some laundry. "That is it. It has called walking. Go on. Go on."
"Smee." Hook's voice whispered.
"Well! Go on, then. Carry on." Smiegal continued, not hearing that at first.
"Smee. Down here!" Hook's voice whispered again, a little bit louder now.
Smee looked around before he looked around, still confused. "Whoa! 6:00... I do not--"
"Darn it, Smee, in the basket." Hook grumbled then.
"Get over here!" Lionel added in a Scorpion-like voice.
"Please do not call me Smee?" Smee asked before he looked into the basket to see that Hook was hiding inside of it.
"Hey, uh, sir? Could ya maybe get us up to the surface?" Jack asked. "Mr. Hook said that you could help us."
"There is no use," Smee whispered to them. "Once you are up there, you cannot get anywhere else."
"Not today~" Hook smirked as he made a gesture.
Smee soon looked over and moved the blankets again to show Peter and the rest of the group as Patch let out a small, friendly, cute bark. He then gasped before he soon took them into a larger, covered-up cart, and they rode in through the mines together before they came inside what looked like an elevator shaft.
"Good knowing you," Hook said to their helper once they were safe to come out, but not just yet. "You have been a true friend. Someday I will find a way to repay you. Now! Send us up." he then commanded.
Smee nodded, but instead of leaving, he shut the doors with him inside with them.
"Hey! What the heck are you doing?" Thor asked in confusion.
"Hook just said someday... He will find a way to repay me." Smee explained.
"Someday, not today! Get out!" Hook clarified and snapped.
"I think that is a very minor technicality," Smee replied innocently. "Someday could be today, if you think about it, and--"
"Smee!" Hook complained.
"Smee... That name suits him more..." Jill commented.
"Trust me, you better get used to that name." Cherry replied as they began to escape.
"So where are we headed?" Jack asked.
"The Skyport." Hook replied.
"What's the Skyport?" Thor asked.
"And won't Blackbeard notice us missing?" Mo added.
"Oh, would you rather go back to him right now so he doesn't worry about you?" Hook smirked.
"Erm... No thanks, Mr. Hook..." Mo grinned nervously.
"Ah... There it is," Hook said as they made it to the clouds. "The Skyport."
"Is it a hot air balloon?" Thor asked. "It looks like a hot air balloon."
"Let's just say that it'll be a great help to us from here on out," Hook replied mysteriously. "We can take one of the cable cars up to the dock," he then told Peter. "Then you will fly us to a ship. Okay?"
Peter only answered by hiding under the blankets, looking scared.
"Peter, you seem scared." Jack remarked.
"Shut it! I am not scared!" Peter pouted while hiding.
"Okay, this will be a problem." Patch whispered to Atticus.
"Yeah. It's obvious he's scared of heights." Atticus whispered back.
"So, what's our second option of getting out of here?" Jill asked Hook.
"Like I told your fat friend," Hook replied. "It's this or going back to toiling in the mines."
Jack and Jill frowned at each other.
"So, do you trust me?" Hook asked.
"For now..." Cherry said mysteriously.
"Then I suggest you come with me and Smee and get over that fear of heights." Hook then said sternly.
"We'll help you through this Peter." Jill said.
Peter shook his head as he looked all around, feeling incredibly nervous. A different pirate soon came to take the covers off only to get suddenly kicked in the face.
"Pirate attack!" Thor called out.
Jill let out a scared scream before Jack frowned at her before glaring as he grabbed a shovel and whacked the pirate in the face with it. Peter laughed as that made him laugh while they came out of the mine cart.
"Looks like you boys could use a slide." Jack smirked as he wheeled the mine cart over to a slide before tipping it over with Peter and the two pirates rolled out and slid down, flat on the ground below.
"And down they go." Mo smiled.
"Hopefully we can get out of here before any more pirates decide to try to get the jump on us." Thor said.
"Kinda wishful thinking, Storm Cloud." Lionel replied.
"Keep your heads down, guys." Hook advised as he crouched down on the floor.
Peter and the others then followed Hook, keeping themselves as low as possible Another pirate soon came out only for Hook to punch him right in the face, knocking him over the railing, and falling right to the ground. One pirate soon came out from the corner, taking out a sword, then ran right towards the group before Peter tripped him with his shovel's handle. A third pirate rushed out as Hook kicked a bucket to the second pirate's face, then Cherry tossed one of her Batarangs at the new pirate before it knocked him out, then he tripped, and a net came out from the Batarang, ensnaring the pirate.
"Go! Go!" Hook told Smee, Peter, and the group as they ran out of the way until he pulled a lever so that they could ride away through the Skyport.
"Please tell us you know how to drive this thing!" Jill yelped.
"Of course I do, but it's a little more difficult!" Hook replied.
"Well, this is going to be interesting." Jack said.
"My stomach is beating me up inside already." Cherry grumbled.
They soon rode through the sky before being quickly lowered near the ground and the caves below.
"See? They anchor the galleons far enough off the dock so, they are impossible to steal." Hook pointed out to the others.
"Gotcha." Thor commented.
"So, you want me to fly from the dock, over to one of the--" Peter spoke up, uneasily and nervously.
"What?" Hook asked him. "Speak now, or forever hold your peace."
"How are we supposed to stop this thing?" Mo wondered before yelping suddenly.
The car soon shook around a bit before they began to go backwards.
Atticus took a closer look from further away with telescopic vision to see what was making them backwards. "It's those thieving pirates!" he then noted.
"Forget the Skyport," Hook soon told Peter urgently. "You have to do it now."
Peter soon went wide-eyed as he went back to the other side of the car before seeing how far The Skyport was and how high they were.
"Are you waiting for an invitation?" Hook asked him. "Go! Now!"
"I'm afraid heights!" Peter told him.
"Dude, how do you think I feel?!" Cherry retorted sharply.
"Yes, but this kid can fly!" Hook reminded both of them.
"Yesterday was my first time." Peter retorted nervously.
"Well, you better fly again before we fall for the last time!" Hook then told him.
"Might we bicker about this later?" Smee suggested as they were rocking back and forth.
"There must be some other way out of this." Jack said, trying to spare Peter from his fears.
Peter then suddenly had an idea. "Smee! The sword!" he then suggested.
"The sword?" Cherry asked.
"I have an idea!" Peter smiled before taking the sword and climbed out of the crane car.
"Yeah! That is going to work, kid," Hook remarked as Peter climbed up and out. "Get up there and, wave it at them."
"No, I think he's going to try and cut the cable." Jill said.
"With a sword? Yeah, I don't know if that will work." Mo said.
Peter began to try and do just that, but didn't know that swords were not sharp enough to cut the cable from the cable car.
"Peter, that blade isn't sharp enough!" Atticus told the boy.
Peter sighed before looking down and he saw the cable and thought of a Plan B.
"...Peter, what're you doing?" Lionel asked.
"This is the only way." Peter said before taking out the cable, sending the cable car shooting right down through the air.
"AAAARRRGH!" Cherry cried out as Lionel and Thor held onto her protectively and comfortingly.
Nearly everyone else screamed, though Hook seemed to be laughing while Jack held onto Jill good and tight. The cable car then went flying and zipped through one of the pirate ship's sails before they hit another sail, then rolled out from the cable car, riding down the sail, then landed on flour sacks.
"Well, at least it was a soft landing." Cherry groaned sickly.
"Incoming!" Thor warned as the cable car came crashing down on top of them before they moved out of the way in time.
"Well, that was close." Hook said after seeing the cable car crash down.
"Do you know how to work a ship?" Peter asked him.
"How hard could it be?" Hook asked.
"Well, we're doomed." Cherry said bluntly.
"Smee! The ropes!" Hook suddenly called out.
"Yes! Yes!" Smee nodded as he went to help out.
"Get used to a lifetime of that." Cherry told him bluntly then.
"Clear!" Smee called out after he took care of the ropes.
"Boy!" Hook then called out to Peter to do the same.
Peter soon did what he had to do next while Hook took the helm.
"Augh!" Mo cried out. "This is like a pirate ship ride at an amusement park, but more out of control!"
"This is a lot harder than it looks!" Hook agreed before steering the helm and they soon rode through the air. "Yeah! We're sailin' now!"
"Whew." Mo sighed.
"We're free!" Jill cheered.
Blackbeard was seen clearing off the ship figurines off the table out of frustration after one of the pirates had told him that Hook Peter and the others had stolen a ship. "Well! Do you have anything to say?" he then complained.
"I worked hard setting up that table." The pirate under the table frowned as he saw the mess.
"What? Forget the table. Pick them up later!" Blackbeard glared. "If that boy makes it to the natives, you can forget any chance of us winning this war. All will be lost."
"We will find them, sir," The pirate replied as he looked out the window. "They cannot have gone far."
"Well! Then where are they?" Blackbeard scowled.
Eventually, the pirate ship was zooming back and forth, passing by the window before part of the mast broke off, crashing against the window, shattering it, answering Blackbeard's question.
"Get me that boy before the savages do it!" Blackbeard then demanded.
The ship continued to fly until a new pirate ship came up.
"Captain! Other ship dead ahead!" Lionel warned.
The pirate ship then shot cannonballs at them before Hook steered the helm and sent them spinning to the side and even going upside down while in the air, flopping them all around on deck.
"I wish I was in a coma right now." Cherry said, looking very sick.
"I have a bad feeling about this!" Mo yelped.
"Well, luckily we're going to survive this." Atticus said while holding onto Patch.
"Hopefully." Jack replied.
"Smee! Get off my leg!" Hook complained.
"I think I'm gonna be sick!" Smee cried out.
Peter gulped nervously as he dangled onto the mast while they were flying all around in the air with the pirate ship.
"Guys, I'm starting to think letting Peter Pan join Looking Glass isn't gonna be worth it!" Jack said.
"Yeah, can't you guys send us back home?" Jill added. "I'm sure Aunt Alice will understand!"
"I think that I might agree with them." Cherry said to her friends.
"I'm not sure if it's that simple though," Thor replied. "We accepted this mission, so it's our responsibility."
The cannonballs soon hit the great wall in front of them, nearly crumbling.
"The wall! THE WALL!" Peter cried out as that looked very dangerous.
Hook soon kicked the helm with his feet as they dangled upside down before moving the ship right-side-up and they were soon spinning around before they made it over the wall while Blackbeard's ship tried to shoot at them again only to get stuck in the wall, freeing Hook, Smee, Peter, and the rest of their group from Blackbeard's territory.
"Smee! Get the sails up!" Hook called out as he held the helm once they were back on top. "We need a strong headwind to make the jump!"
"What jump?" Peter asked him.
"You never told us that we'd be doing any jumps." Jill said to Hook.
"Home?! We're getting the heck off this island!" Hook replied.
"What?!" Jack asked out of surprise.
"Not home! You promised to help me find my mother!" Peter told Hook.
"That's right." Jill nodded.
"You did promise!" Jack added, firmly pouting with Jill and Peter.
"I'd settle for the ground any day of the week." Cherry said, sounding rather sick to her stomach.
Hook just glanced at them while looking back at the sky while sailing the ship.
"I am not leaving Neverland!" Peter firmly exclaimed.
"And I'll stay here with him if I have to!" Jill added before blushing at what she just said.
"And it looks like the ship could fall apart at any minute." Atticus remarked.
Hook soon looked around as it almost looked like the ship was about to fall apart, making Atticus's statement true. "Well! Not now, anyway!" he then told the kids.
They soon began to fly right through the jungle of Neverland.
"Get the sails up!" Smee cried out as he held onto the mast as they went out of control. "The sails!"
"This is gonna be a little rough!" Hook warned the others.
"Brace yourselves!" Atticus called out.
Their ship began to start going down looking like it was going to crash land as they all began to scream for their lives.
"I sure do hope we'll make this out alive!" Thor cried out.
Meanwhile back on a certain ship...
One pirate appeared to be concocting something while on his cot, covering himself up with a blanket before using some sort of remedy to help mask himself and relax himself as he appeared to be old and withered. He then removed his mask to reveal that he was actually Blackbeard and somehow made himself appear to be decades younger. He sighed deeply as he looked in the mirror before hearing a knock at the door that triggered him. "How many times I am not to be disturbed when I am at the rejuvenation?!" he then snarled once he heard the knock and threw a blade at the door before answering the door calmly. "Yes?"
"I am sorry, Captain, however, it is about the kids and their mongrel," The pirate at the door explained calmly and carefully. "The stolen ship went down in the Neverwood."
"So... The kids and their pet are lost?" Blackbeard guessed.
"Yes, sir, they are a lost dog, lost boys, and lost girls, but our best men are searching for them now." The pirate informed.
"Imbeciles surround me," Blackbeard growled. "Must I do everything myself?"
"Sir, you cannot really, believe that the flying pipsqueak is the one," The pirate then replied. "He hardly seems capable."
"His mother hardly seemed capable either, and, yet, here we are." Blackbeard retorted before slamming the door on his face.
Meanwhile in the Neverwoods...
"The deal was that you were going to help me find my mother." Peter told Hook.
"You were going to leave Neverland and break that promise." Jill added.
"In fact, I think I'll do Peter a favor for ya." Thor smirked as he took out a random knife.
"Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa, time-out, big guy!" Lionel scolded, holding Thor back. "Man... That's dark, even for you."
"...Aw, I'm sorry, Lionel," Thor said bashfully. "I just feel so frustrated."
"We all do, but relax a little." Lionel advised, rubbing Thor's back to get him in a better mood.
Thor soon groaned before cupping his mouth and his foot tapped up and down rapidly like an excited bunny rabbit.
"No, your flying friend broke the deal first!" Hook glared. "He lied to us!"
"No. I fibbed," Peter retorted. "I can fly... Just not every day."
Suddenly, Smee cried out as he ran toward them and they had to run from the trees as the ship came crashing down as they were lost in the woods.
"The ship is goin' down, Captain!" Lionel cried out in a Scottish voice like from Star Trek.
"Ah, our only way off this island and is in pieces, satisfied?" Hook asked Peter.
"Well, yes, I am quite content because I don't want to get off this island." Peter replied.
"And we're not leaving either." Jack said.
"That's right." Jill nodded.
"Kids..." Hook sighed at them.
"If Jill doesn't leave, I don't leave either," Jack stated strongly. "We've been taking care of each other our whole lives."
"And one of us comes before the other," Jill added. "So you might as well get comfortable with our company if you know what's good for you."
"...Didn't expect a sweet girl like Jill to say something like that." Mo remarked as the others agreed.
They soon came into the ship to look around a bit further.
"All gone," Hook sighed before seeing Peter heading inside the ship where the others were going after him. "Hey! Quit messing around. It is not safe in here."
"Every ship has one." Peter said to himself.
"What?" Thor asked. "You looking for something, buddy?"
"A map!" Peter beamed once he found what he was looking for and opened up the rolled-up piece of paper. He then looked over, squinting his eyes at one section of the map. "What does that say?" he then asked.
Hook looked over his shoulder before reading it for him. "'Tribal Territory'." he then read.
"Exactly. The prophecy said: 'A boy would lead the tribe'," Peter then explained before pouting as Hook seemed to be ignoring him. "So, what? You do not care!"
"I do. Keep going." Smee replied as Peter came out.
"Blackbeard thinks the prophecy is about me which means my mum is from here and which means the natives might know where she is too." Peter said.
Smee began to look like he had followed everything Peter said, only he was lost for words.
"Are you insane?" Hook asked Peter. "If those savages would just kill you. I help you."
"Ever meet one?" Peter smirked smugly.
"No!" Hook glared. "And, I do not plan to meet."
"Well, they might be very nice," Peter replied. "I am not afraid of them."
"There is a fine line between bravery and suicide, kid." Hook warned.
"I have to agree with him here." Lionel spoke up.
"I am going off to find the Tribal Territory. Goodbye!" Peter decided as he walked on, following the map.
Jill soon walked after Peter while the rest of the group pondered on what to do next.
"He will not last an hour out there." Smee spoke up.
"His problem. Not ours." Hook told him.
"Thing in this, if he was the chosen one... If that prophecy is real--" Smee began.
"Trust me, he is not it." Hook retorted.
"But, if they thought, he was... They believed he was... I bet they would handsomely reward..." Smee disagreed. "Anyone who brought him to them."
"Well, they do not have a ship." Hook retorted then.
"Wait up, Peter!" Jill called out as she followed after.
"I better go after Jill," Jack sighed. "We can't be separated."
"And she is our friend." Atticus said.
"And family and friends stick together." Mo said.
"So we better go with em." Patch said.
"Hmm..." Lionel paused before shrugging.
The others then decided to follow Jill after Peter as they thought that it would be the right thing to do.
Suddenly, night fell over the woods, as Peter continued to follow the map as best as he could as Jill stood close behind him and the rest of the group continued to travel together.
"Who has fought the pirates more than natives?" Hook asked as they continued, using his hat to swat away some bugs that swarmed them.
"If anyone could find a way, it's them." Peter reminded.
"Just remember, when we find those... So, sweet-natured locals, true or not, you tell them you are their savior, then, we will go our separate ways," Hook then said a bit sharply. "Got it?"
"Why would you want to leave a place like this?" Peter ignored with a small smile. "Where will you go?"
"This place seems like Kid Heaven, especially away from that mean old Mother Barnabus." Jill added.
"I don't know," Hook shrugged at them with a scoff. "Somewhere I'm a little higher up on the food chain, for starters."
A shadow then whizzed by suddenly, passing them.
"What was that?" Peter asked with a gasp.
"Something a little higher up on the food chain." Hook remarked.
Cherry snickered, finding that a bit funny. They continued to go forward as they followed the map to the natives until they began to notice something flying around.
"Uh, Smee, are you seeing this?" Lionel asked.
"They look like some kind of bugs or something." Thor said.
More things flew by as they walked along through the Neverwoods together.
Jill gasped as she huddled closer to Peter for protection.
Jack frowned softly for his sister before beginning to narrow his eyes at Peter. Eventually, what looked like bugs were flying around and they seemed to be glowing like fireflies.
"That is pretty, Hook. Do you see that?" Smee soon remarked. "We got pirates trying to shoot us down with cannons. Nearly falling a thousand feet to our deaths. Twice. Shipwrecked. And, you see something like that, and, you think to yourself. 'Worth it'."
The others glanced at Smee awkwardly before going on a bit further.
"We should probably stop for the night," Jack suggested. "It's pretty late and we won't see much in the dark."
"Except for maybe me." Cherry smirked smugly.
Once they stopped for the night they soon began to build a campfire. Once they had a campfire, they began to start having a little chat.
"Were you once an orphan?" Peter asked Hook.
"My ma left me if that counts." Hook replied.
"Well, do you remember her?" Peter asked him.
"I can't imagine life without my mom," Thor smiled. "She's so awesome!" he then pouted a bit to himself. "Except when she calls me 'Thornton'."
Hook looked like he was trying to think about it before shaking his head. "I am not wasting tears missing someone who never missed me." he seemed to scowl.
"Maybe she does," Peter shrugged. "How can you know?"
"I don't remember much about Mother," Jill said softly. "But at least we reconnected before she disappeared with Death's Messengers."
"That was so hard." Jack added, remembering their latest Avengers Grimm mission.
"Do you really believe your mom is here?" Hook scoffed at Peter.
"Well, she left me a note saying--" Peter began as a strange sound was heard as Patch turned his head, bringing his ear up as he heard with his special dog sense of sound.
"Well, if she left you a note, sure." Hook scoffed at the boy.
"Just because yours never loved you--" Peter began as the sound got stronger before Hook covered his mouth.
"Stop." Hook warned.
"Does not mean my mom never loved me." Peter continued before muffling.
"Stop talking right now!" Hook hissed before looking cautious. "Did you hear that?"
"It was a deafening nightmare shriek," Smee panicked. "How can anyone not have heard--"
The sound got stronger before he was suddenly quiet and a giant red feather fell from the sky and landed in the puddle in front of them. They looked into the puddle before a face looked at them and jumped out from behind, roaring and shrieking at them, showing to be a rather large bird, but he was no Big Bird from Sesame Street.
"Demon parrot!" Thor gasped and ducked down behind the trees. "Hit the deck!"
"No, that's a Neverbird." Hook replied.
They soon saw another one land close by.
"Looks like that one's got company because there's another one." Jack said.
"What do we do?" Mo asked.
"Hopefully not become bird food." Thor added nervously.
"We need a plan! We need a plan!" Smee gasped.
"RUUUUUN!" Hook cried out before he ran ahead of them.
"That's his plan?" Jack and Jill asked while sweat-dropping.
The Neverbirds soon chased after the group as Hook ran ahead of them, acting as the leader.
"We'll lose 'em in the mists! GO!" Hook urged to the others.
One of the Neverbirds got caught in a trap, but the second one was still flying after them.
"Their faces are terrible, however, their feathers are quite lovely." Smee commented as they ran away.
"Shut up and run!" Cherry replied.
They began to run into the mist and where it seemed to work, but not for long as the fog wasn't too thick as one of the Neverbirds flew down and grabbed Smee with its talons.
"Mr. Smee!" Peter cried out.
Smee began screaming for his life as he was taken away by the Neverbird.
"Oh, no!" Thor cried out.
"Leave him!" Cherry replied.
"Cherry!" The others scolded.
"What?" Cherry shrugged.
Peter and the other kids kept running before they suddenly stopped and caught their breath before looking around as they were surrounded by colorful lights.
"...Colorful." Mo had to admit it as she gasped to catch her breath.
However, they suddenly got alert as they heard various sounds in the distance that almost sounded like yelling.
"Hook...? Is that you?" Peter asked hopefully before going to check out the sound up close.
"Kids..." Hook panted as he found them and caught up with them.
"That giant bird got Smee." Lionel spoke up.
"Don't worry, everything is going to be all right." Hook said softly.
The next Neverbird shrieked and flew out, startling them and making them fall before it landed in the corner, then became to approach them.
"Or maybe not!" Cherry said. "One Neverbird was bad enough, now we have another one to deal with!"
But as it began to approach them it soon fell into a trap before they were greeted by a native person.
"Whew." Jill sighed.
"I knew we would find the natives." Peter said.
"Same here." Jill smiled.
"I'm glad we did," Jack smiled back before looking cautious. "I just hope that they're friendly natives."
"They should be." Patch whispered to himself and nodded.
The native girl looked down at them as they laid on the ground together.
"We're saved!" Peter smiled at his friends in excitement.
The native girl soon took out a blade and sliced the air after the group flinched, but luckily, neither of them were cut, and soon Smee yelled out as he plummeted and fell right in the middle of the ground, away from the Neverbird.
"Please! I am ready to go home now. Please." Smee begged before thumping.
Everyone looked around and more natives came out from the bushes.
"Let me handle this," Hook told the group before winking at them and he soon approached the native girl, removing his hat, trying to sound like a civilized gentleman. "Good, fair woman. We come in peace, and, with treasure. May I proudly present to you--"
The native girl suddenly punched him right in the face, knocking him out instantly.
"Guess that didn't work." Patch said.
"No kidding." Thor said.
"Now what?" Jill asked.
"Well, to not start any fights or have her knock any of us out either I suggest we let them take us to their village." Atticus suggested.
The native girl came closer to them.
"Greetings... Friend?" Jill said nervously.
"Look, we won't hurt you," Cherry spoke calmly to the native girl. "We come in peace. I'm sorry if our friend was an idiot to you, but you can trust us."
The native girl looked up and down at them, though mostly to Peter, and soon held out her hand. Peter smiled hopefully before the native girl suddenly grabbed him over her shoulders and other natives came out to tie him up, then began to do the same to Hook and Smee.
"I guess they're gonna be taking us to their village in one way or another." Lionel said.
"Well, at least they haven't tied us up yet." Thor replied.
"I have a feeling they might just do that." Mo said.
"Oh, come on. Would they really do that?" Thor asked.a
Chapter Text
Eventually...
"I thought we agreed to stop saying stuff like that." Lionel rolled his eyes.
"Sorry, Lionel." Thor pouted nervously.
It's okay," Lionel replied. "I just think maybe the co-author of this story likes to forget that forgetfulness and stupidity are two different things and you had no choice but to say that."
"Yeah... I think so too..." Thor agreed.
"Could be worse." Cherry spoke up.
"How's that?" Thor and Lionel asked.
"You could be Hook right now," Cherry said, pointing her head in the direction of their new friend as he was still knocked out and was dangling by his rope, upside down, in front of the villagers. "I'm glad that's not me with my extreme vertigo."
"Oh, for sure." Lionel nodded in agreement.
The native girl soon pushed them down and they were tied up beside Smee and Peter while the villagers danced and chanted. Hook soon yawned as began to wake up while dangling upside down and as he woke up he soon saw all the natives dancing and chanting.
"Smee!" Jill called out.
"Smee!" Peter added.
"What?" Smee asked.
"What are they singing about?" Peter asked him.
"Sounds like a different language or something," Atticus shrugged. "I just hope whatever word they're using doesn't mean 'death'."
"I don't wanna die!" Jill suddenly cried out.
"Don't worry, Jill, we'll get out of this somehow." Jack reassured.
"Search me!" Smee cried out suddenly.
The villagers continued to chant until one of the women walked up and over to Hook as he dangled upside down.
"It sounds like they're saying the word 'Pan'," Lionel then said. "That must mean something to them."
"Like I said, I hope it's not death." Atticus replied.
"What is going on?" Hook asked the woman who had approached him. "What is 'Pan'?"
"The Pan is our tribe's bravest warrior," The woman informed as a strong and aggressive-looking man was shown. "It is our tradition to grant you the chance to win. Your freedom before we kill you and your friends."
"Kill?!" Jack and Jill gasped.
"Kill? What do you mean kill?" Hook asked.
"You are our sworn enemy," The native woman replied. "You are pirates."
"Pirates? We're not pirates!" Hook retorted before getting an idea. "The kid with the necklace is the one you have been waiting for!" he then told her as she looked like she was about to surrender him into being killed.
"Listen!" The native woman stopped him before offering a deal. "Your chance to live. Your fiercest fighter against ours. Our Pan. You win. You live. You lose--"
"I get the idea," Hook told her. "Bye for now."
The woman glanced at him and soon walked away suddenly as the natives continued to chant for "Pan". The strong and aggressive man was soon given a weapon as he then went down and ran up to Hook looking like he was going to kill him right then and there only he cut him down, causing Hook to fall to the ground as the strong and aggressive man got onto a pole, looking like he was floating while his feet were holding onto the pole as the natives seemed to be laughing at Hook.
"So... How do we know when to start?" Hook then asked once he got up on his feet.
The warrior soon jumped down from his pole and began to beat Hook by punching and kicking, bouncing on the platform below them.
The natives watched while The Toon Force, Peter, and the twins just stood in silence while Hook was being beaten down by the warrior native.
"Ouch! That has to hurt!" Thor winced as Hook then crashed against the wooden deck over the bouncy platform.
"Smee!" Peter suddenly called out.
"What?!" Smee replied.
"We have to tell them about my mother!" Peter suggested.
"Is that a good idea?" Jill asked.
"I think and hope so." Peter nodded at her.
"No one cares about your darn mother!" Smee told Peter which got him looks from the others.
"Dude..." Lionel said softly as that sounded too cruel.
"...Sorry, that was a bit harsh." Smee admitted.
Hook continued to get his butt kicked by the strong and aggressive man as he didn't seem to be getting any better in the fight. Peter and the other winced from how the fight was going as the strong and aggressive was getting to the upper floor to finish off Hook.
"We've gotta do something," Jill said. "We can't just watch."
"I think I can get my hands free." Peter said as he began to start fiddling with one of the cuffs around his left hand with his right hand.
"Maybe The Toon Force can help out." Lionel smirked.
"As well as a couple of Avengers Grimm." Jack smirked back.
"And the one and only Peter Pan." Patch concluded.
Hook groaned as he got back up on his feet before he grabbed a loose floorboard and whacked the warrior in the face with it. The warrior yelped as that hurt him before Hook smirked and hit him again while the natives watched in suspense. The warrior soon had enough of that and bounced up against the rafters and hid away before Hook saw a space for him and decided to do the same on the other side as Peter was freed from his cuffs and he decided to help the twins out and help out The Toon Force. Hook and the warrior soon bounced right at each other, but before Hook could hit the warrior, the warrior hit him first, sending him flying up and landed on one of the rafters and soon looked down to the native woman who sat at her throne.
"Your Highness... I was hoping to get you alone." Hook grinned at her hopefully.
"Oh, barf." Cherry rolled her eyes at that.
The native woman giggled a little before the warrior bounced back up and grabbed Hook, pulling him down with him.
"All right, we're out, let's do this!" Lionel told the others as they came to help out Hook. "Booyakasha!"
"Booyakasha?" Peter asked out of confusion while running.
Peter and the group soon ran to help Hook as they jumped down as Peter landed on the strong and aggressive man.
"He can't take on all of us." Lionel said.
"Maybe he'll be smart and give up." Thor said.
"Let's hope." Patch said.
The warrior snarled once he saw them.
"We can take anything you can throw at us." Jack glared as he stood in front of Jill protectively.
Patch even growled and barked, trying to sound as aggressive as a bulldog. The warrior snapped and soon bounced down at them, sending them all flying in the air as they bounced up and off of the ground. Peter soon yelled out as he braced himself before he landed on the wooden deck above the bouncy platforms. The Toon Force and twins began to attack the warrior with everything they had.
"Okay, guys, let's not do too much," Lionel advised. "I have a feeling that Peter should deliver the final blow."
"Agreed." Atticus nodded.
"Besides, this is his story." Thor shrugged.
"Yep." Patch nodded.
"Hey, did anyone else notice his necklace fell off?" Jill asked.
"...I guess not since no one addressed it except for you just now." Lionel replied.
Peter yelped as he suddenly fell from the deck and his necklace was then noticed by the native woman.
Angry and weaponed natives soon surrounded Peter with spears, about to kill him.
"Hey! You want that punk, you'll haveta go through me!" Lionel glared.
"So different from my Once Upon a Time book..." Cherry remarked.
"Huh?" The others asked her.
"Those books I was reading before we ended up meeting The Avengers Grimm," Cherry reminded. "In one of my books from Henry Mills: Journey to Neverland, Peter Pan is feared by many and he's pretty wicked and cruel. I just thought I'd say."
The others glanced at her funny before shrugging and decided to not say much about that.
"STOP!" Someone soon called out which made everyone look over and the one who had spoken was The Chief.
"Now what?" Thor groaned before they saw that the Chief was speaking now.
"The little one... He wears the Pan," The Chief stated, showing the necklace in his hand. "He is a boy that can fly."
The villagers who surrounded Peter with their spears soon backed off suddenly.
"I've seen it," Hook chuckled weakly from the floor. "It's terrific."
Peter soon began to get back up before the natives all began to kneel down before him.
'Well, this is unexpected.' Patch thought to himself.
Hook just put his head down, still quite dazed from his experience against the warrior. Jack and Jill soon came beside Peter to help him back on his feet after the natives had backed off on attacking any of them.
"Come... I must show you something..." The native girl said to Peter and the group.
"Can my friends come too?" Peter asked, referring to the others who had come with them.
"...Yes." The native girl said before nodding, deciding to allow it.
The group soon followed the native girl as she showed them something very special from their world.
"Okay... So what's this?" Lionel asked once they gathered around a magical stump.
"We call this the Memory Tree," The native girl said, showing various images that came out into the tree stump, almost like it was showing them an untold story. "It was a time of war, Blackbeard destroyed everything in pursuit of the Pixum, but then, the chief
made a pact. With The Great Fairy King, uniting our people against the pirates. One night, the king's son, The Fairy Prince, found his way onto Blackbeard's ship," she then added before a woman's image was shown. "Her name was Mary. The love of Blackbeard's life and his most prized possession. Night after night, the prince visited Mary, but when Blackbeard discovered the, he flew into a jealous rage," she then continued as two people were shown to be in love, but Blackbeard's image looked monstrous and angry, as well as jealous. "So, in order to save her, the prince took human form, but though fairies can live many thousands of years. In human flesh, they can live only one day. The prince sacrificed his life for the girl he loved, and, the child of that love... Was you." she then concluded to Peter, looking right at him as an image was shown of someone wearing the panpipe necklace.
Peter looked a bit wide-eyed as he didn't expect that and neither did his new friends.
"Our people helped your mother hide you in the other world, and, they made you this totem," The native girl soon continued. "So, that when you returned. We would know it was you."
"What happened to my mother?" Peter asked her.
"She returned to The Neverwoods and fought bravely with us for many years." The native girl replied.
"And...?" Peter asked.
More images were shown in The Memory Tree as the native girl told them more.
"The pirates... We have won the war," The native girl continued to explain to Peter and the others. "And, the fairies had to retreat to a hidden kingdom. They have remained there, in hiding, unknown by Blackbeard. Until a time when they can reemerge and fight."
"And, my mother?" Peter then asked.
The native girl hesitated in answering that question before looking over at The Chief who soon nodded at her, allowing her to speak the truth. "She is with them." she then said to Peter.
"She's alive?!" Peter and Jill gasped.
"Are you sure?" Thor asked.
"I have to go to her!" Peter added urgently and hopefully. "Please, take us now!"
"No," The Chief disagreed. You must be patient."
"But she's waiting for Peter!" Jill retorted.
"The fairy kingdom is the greatest secret of this land," The Chief explained. "Our duty is to protect it. Before we take you there, you must prove us to be Mary's son. The one we have been waiting for. When the third moon rises, he must fly. If he lives, he is the one."
Smee soon began to clear his voice before whistling, causing everyone to look over to him. "And what if he dies?" he then asked.
"Then he is an imposter his death will be justified," The chief said as the natives began to pound the end of their spears on the floor. "Three days."
'Oh, boy. That's not good especially since Peter has a fear of heights,' Jill thoughts to herself. 'But I know that he can fly again.'
And so, the group was free to wander about freely. Lionel then kicked the warrior in the side before making him fall and bounce over and over. He then smirked before he followed after the others a bit more. Cherry decided to read her book from the Once Upon a Time series that just so happened to be about Neverland as they got settled in.
"I know that Peter can do this," Jill said. "I believe in him."
"Sounds like someone's hopeful about their boyfriend." Cherry smirked.
"What?! Boyfriend?! No!" Jill gasped and blushed nervously. "Why would you say something like that, Cherry?"
"Believe me, I can see it in your eyes," Cherry smirked. "The same thing happens whenever Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper try to ask out Archie Andrews back at our school. Those two are nuts about that boy."
"And yet he can't seem to choose between the two of them." Mo said.
"Really?" Jill asked.
"Really." Thor said.
"Let's hope Peter gets over this fear of heights." Patch whispered to the others.
"Spot, of course he will," Cherry rolled her eyes. "He's going to become Peter Pan."
"So Peter Pan flies all the time?" Patch asked.
"Oh, yeah," Cherry said before showing a picture in her book that had the story's version of Peter who was flying with a shadow beside him. "Just wait 'til he meets the Darlings."
"Who are they?" Jack and Jill then asked.
"You'll find out later." Cherry smirked at them before putting up her book then.
"Hmm..." Jack and Jill paused as they didn't know about that yet, especially what might happen to Peter by the end of this mission.
"I have the necklace. Isn't that enough?" Peter complained as they followed the native girl around her home.
"You could have stolen it." The native girl retorted.
"However, I did not," Peter glared before looking back at Hook and Smee. "Tell her!"
"Kid's always had that thing." Hook defended.
"How long have you known him?" The native girl retorted.
"Three days/All my life." Peter and Hook both said at the same time which didn't seem to help Peter's case.
"The flying thing is a stupid detail," Peter then groaned. "Why can't they just see that?"
"If you don't believe, Peter, then neither will them," The native girl soon said, looking back at Peter, dramatically serious. "But, if you do, they will, too. I promise." she then added before walking on ahead of them.
"Are you who they think you are?" Hook asked Peter.
"I don't know." Peter replied.
"They think you're their messiah and you're here to liberate them. Are they right?" Hook asked him.
"I said I don't know." Peter replied before walking off ahead.
"It's late," Cherry said while looking at her book. "You kids should be in bed."
Jill sighed and pouted a little.
"What's wrong, Jilly?" Jack asked, coming beside his twin sister. "You feeling homesick?"
Jill pouted and nodded, feeling very hurt and sick on the inside.
"It's okay... I'm here," Jack said as he took her hands. "We'll be back home soon after we do what Aunt Alice wants us to do for Looking Glass and The Avengers Grimm. We'll be with our new mother and father... We'll be all right."
"At least you kids have parents to go back to." Mo said softly.
"At least you have parents period." Lionel added.
"Here... Will this help make you feel better?" Jack smiled at Jill before he reached into his backpack, then took out the teddy bear from their last adventure. "Remember when Goldie gave this to us?"
"Uh-huh..." Jill nodded before she took the bear and hugged it instantly.
"Let's get some sleep." Patch said.
"Yeah, we'll need it." Thor nodded.
"Sleep sounds good." Jill said as she held her teddy bear close to her.
"Sure does." Jack nodded.
Everyone soon began to bunk in for the night and tried to get some sleep.
"Rabbits..." Smee mumbled as he talked in his sleep a little.
Jill hugged her teddy bear, but still had a hard time getting some sleep, especially since she missed Snow White and King Charming and all of her and Jack's honorary aunts in Avengers Grimm, wishing she could see them again really soon. Though as she woke up, she looked over and saw that Peter had trouble sleeping too. Peter soon looked around and snuck out of his bed, then snuck a bit away from the Indian Camp. Jill looked perplexed, then decided to follow him, trying to be quiet in the process.
"I believe... I can fly!" Peter told himself as he stood on the edge of the cliff he was standing on before sighing, not moving at all. "If only Nibs was here. He would know how to help."
"I feel the same way about my mother..." Jill said softly as she hugged her teddy bear tighter than usual.
Peter soon began to start climbing up to get higher ground to jump and try to fly.
'I know Peter can do it, even though I have to wonder how he began to fly in the first place.' Jill thought to herself.
Unknown to either of them, the native girl from before snuck out and saw what Peter was doing.
"I believe." Peter told himself before he jumped down from where he was.
Jill hugged her teddy bear close before covering her eyes slightly.
Peter grunted as he fell flat on the ground before he soon punched the ground, feeling more frustrated. He then got up and went to head back over to where they were sleeping for the night before glancing over. "...Jill?" he then asked.
Jill grinned nervously and waved at him.
"...What're you doing here?" Peter asked her.
"I... I couldn't sleep... So I was just taking a walk..." Jill shrugged innocently.
"So, did you see?" Peter asked.
"Um, yeah, but don't worry, I know you can fly," Jill smiled. "After all, you flew after being thrown overboard."
"Thanks, Jill," Peter replied. "So, why couldn't you sleep?"
"I guess I'm just homesick." Jill sighed.
"Homesick?" Peter asked.
"Yeah... That's when you miss your home and your family when you're away from them," Jill said softly. "I never really had much of a family before, it was just me and Jack... Until we found Snow White and she adopted us as her children, then her friends became our honorary aunts since our mother couldn't take care of us anymore. I guess I was away from them longer than I thought I would be."
"Well, don't worry; I'm sure you'll be back with them soon." Peter smiled.
"Yeah. You're right." Jill nodded.
"Come on, we better head back." Peter suggested.
"Okay." Jill replied softly.
They soon left where they were and the native girl continued to hide before they could see her.
Back at their campground, Hook was shown to be sharpening his hook before glancing over at them. "Have you seen Smee?" he then asked them.
"Uh, no... I thought he'd be with you." Jill shrugged.
"The things they expect me to do," Peter scoffed and pouted as he stormed off inside before going to sit on his bed and take his boots off. "I can't do them Hook. I've tried."
"Hey! Stop. Hey!" Hook called to the boy before going after him along with Jill.
"I can't do the things, therefore, I can't be the one!" Peter huffed.
"Listen." Hook continued.
"Hook... What the bloody hell am I?" Peter pouted.
"Oh, Peter..." Jill frowned softly in sympathy.
"You can go feeling sorry for yourself all you want, kid," Hook sighed at him. "However, knowing where you are from, that is, half of knowing who you are, that is more than most of us here will ever know."
"But you said that your mother left you." Peter retorted softly.
"Yeah. I lied. I do that sometimes," Hook responded. "It's called being a grown-up!"
'He sure knows when to lie.' Jill thought to herself.
Hook walked off a few feet before sighing.
"You shouldn't lie, Mr. Hook..." Jill pouted and tutted.
"...Well, who invited you, huh?" Hook glanced at her. "You shouldn't even be here. You're a girl."
Jill firmly pouted as she squeezed her teddy bear.
Hook looked like he was about to leave before he sighed sharply as the kids looked very upset with him right now. "...At least you know where you come from," he then lightly told Peter. "Born to be a warrior, heir to a prince. Does that mean you are the one?" he then asked. "...I don't know," he then answered himself. "I don't know if there is a 'one', but I do know that if you aren't the guy and you are just you... Maybe that's enough."
'Wow. That's actually some good advice.' Jill thought to herself.
Pirates were seen searching The Neverwoods to see if they could find Peter or any of the others that escaped and where Smee was seen coming down from a tree. Smee soon looked around and came over to a bush, getting ready for a bathroom break. However, the pirates surrounded him and held pistols as Blackbeard came out from the crowd.
"Where are the boy and his allies?" Blackbeard demanded to Smee firmly. "Spill the beans or I will spill your blood."
"I will never tell." Smee replied.
The pirates then readied their pistols.
"They're right over there..." Smee then confessed, pointing in the direction before pointing elsewhere as he suddenly looked confused. "Nope! Nope! Wait! My mistake. Sure, it is that way. No! No. Right the first time. Definitely, maybe definitely, this way."
Blackbeard glared as his pirates then looked ready to shoot Smee anyway.
"The point is, we are very close." Smee then told them.
Blackbeard looked at his pirates before commanding them. "Ready the ships. Bishops, kill him."
"No! Just wait! Wait!" Smee panicked. "You might not want to kill me just yet, for I hold the crown jewels... You know. Information ally."
"Speak." Blackbeard glared firmly.
"Sorry, a bit nervous," Smee smiled nervously. "You are quite intimidating."
"Speak!" Blackbeard barked.
Smee shivered nervously before he prompted something. "Now! You know the so-called extinct Fairy Kingdom?" he then asked.
Blackbeard looked curious before they continued to talk, almost all of the whole night.
Later on, the sun began to rise, leading into the next morning. Cherry groaned as she felt the sun's rays coming in through the window, so she put her pillow over her eyes to protect herself.
"Well, better get up." Atticus said with a yawn as he started to get up.
"Ugh. Five more minutes." Cherry groaned.
"Oh, come on. The sooner we get up, the sooner we can help Peter fly." Patch said as he got up.
Cherry then threw a pillow at him before smirking.
"Come on, Cherry," Mo said. "You'd want us to help you, wouldn't you?"
"Well, yeah... But--" Cherry rolled her eyes.
"But nothing!" Thor replied. "Friends come first, especially friends who are like family."
"Ugh..." Cherry groaned, very much annoyed with them.
"Has anyone seen Jill?" Jack asked as he looked around as Jill was missing from her bed.
"She must already be up." Thor said.
"Then we might as well join her." Patch said.
"Ugh..." Cherry groaned before getting up. "It's too early."
"That's what camping out is all about," Lionel told her. "I'll make it up to you though."
"...Have you ever been slam-dunked before?" Cherry narrowed her eyes firmly.
Lionel just chuckled nervously with a big grin on his face before they decided to get up and ready for the new day. Hook was soon shown to be getting up and leaving.
"Huh... I guess he woke up before we did." Patch commented.
They soon saw which direction Hook was going and where the native girl was seen, watching the sunrise and as the adult man stepped out in the open the native girl turned to see him startled.
"Sorry, I was just looking for you." Hook told her.
"Well, you found me." The native girl replied.
Unknown to them, the group was secretly watching everything that was going on.
"What's he up to now?" Patch wondered.
"Let's watch and see." Thor suggested.
Lionel soon put his hand to his ear to listen in a bit.
"Don't see stuff like that in the mines," Hook said as he looked out at the sunrise with the native girl. "Kind of beautiful. So, do you like sunrises?" he then asked her.
"What is it you think you are doing?" The native girl asked sternly.
"Strike 1." Cherry remarked.
"Well, I think it's called flirting," Hook shrugged. "However, if you have to ask, I might be doing it wrong."
"You are not like the men from my tribe." The native girl then said.
"Thank you." Hook smiled, taking that as a compliment.
"No," The native girl retorted. "They are honest, strong, brave..."
"Ooh! Strike 2!" Cherry then smirked, chuckling as that had to burn.
"Brave... That what you call it?" Hook then asked. "Letting my little buddy take a leap to his death?"
"When he ceases to doubt himself, he will fly." The native girl insisted.
"How do we know?" Hook shrugged. "There are any fairies still left on this island... Or, that they will come help fight just because they see him fly?"
"You have to trust us." The native girl retorted.
"Why should we?" Hook scoffed. "You certainly don't trust us."
"There is a map to The Fairy Kingdom," The native girl soon told him. "We guard it with our lives."
"Of course there is," Hook smirked smugly. "Why would not there be a secret map to the secret kingdom?"
"This isn't a game!" The native girl glowered. "You have seen what Blackbeard has done to Neverland already. He will reduce the rest of it to nothing but mine pits if we don't stop him."
"Has anybody ever told you you have really beautiful eyes?" Hook then asked, trying to be sweet.
The group rolled their eyes, though Lionel snickered a bit as the native girl then suddenly slapped Hook across the face.
"And Strike 3..." Cherry then said. "And we have a winner!" she then added sarcastically.
The native girl soon walked off, leaving Hook to be by himself before seeing the others. "How much did you all hear?" she then asked them.
"Oh, enough," Thor said. "Especially with Hook's failed attempt to flirt with you."
"Pfft..." The native girl rolled her eyes. "Don't talk to me about that."
"Sorry about that," Cherry replied as she put away her book. "So... Uh, this secret kingdom?"
"Sorry, I can't tell you much about that." The native girl smirked smugly.
"Of course you can't." Lionel said.
Jack and Jill soon went wide-eyed as they saw familiar pirate ships floating up through the clouds before stopping.
"Guys, we have company and not the good kind!" Jill panicked.
"What's that?" Patch asked before he listened in.
"Fire on the foredeck!" A voice called out from one of the pirate ships as Hook slowly turned around to see that he had company in the clouds.
The pirates in the ships yelled out to each other which was definitely not a good sign for Hook and the others since they escaped the pirates a long time ago.
"Prepare to come around!" Another pirate told the others.
"TIGERLILY!" Hook soon cried out in fear for the native girl as she ran into the Neverwoods.
Tigerlily ran through the woods before a pirate jumped down on a tree she was underneath, looking ready to attack. She then took out her own weapon and tossed it, but it didn't hit him.
"You missed." The pirate scoffed.
Tigerlily merely smirked as the weapon came back, hitting the pirate in the back, making him fall off of the tree, and he fell flat on the ground, thumping instantly as she had used a boomerang.
"Nice." Mo smirked.
"Thanks." Tigerlily smirked back.
Jill was soon seen running back to where Peter was sleeping.
"We better get ready to fight these pirates." Atticus said.
"Sounds good to me," Lionel replied as he got ready in a Bat-Mite fashion. "I'm ready to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum."
"You have bubblegum?" Thor asked.
Lionel gave him a deadpan look in response.
"Peter! Peter, please! Wake up!" Jill called as she rushed over to the boy.
Peter's eyes flashed open before he looked at the black-haired girl. "Jill?" he then asked.
"Pirates have come back for us," Jill warned Peter. "It looks very dangerous out there."
Peter looked at her, then crawled out of his bed before slowly walking over to take a closer look outside and gasped to see that there were, in fact, pirates attacking the village. "You're right!" he then said to her.
"And they're shooting!" Jill cried out before doing a double-take as colorful smoke bursts exploded all over the village. "...Color bombs?"
"...How strong are you as a fighter?" Peter asked Jill.
"Uh... I know a bit of fighting skills from Goldilocks back home," Jill shrugged and rubbed her arm. "I'm not as good as fighting as the older members of our family or my brother though."
"Well, it looks like you're gonna learn how to become a tougher fighter." Peter suggested, determined.
"Looks like it." Jill replied.
The pirates continued to come down from their ships, using their color bombs. Peter and Jill both yelped as went back as that startled them before Jill took a deep breath before looking brave. Jill and Peter soon climbed one rope, moving swiftly together while trying to stay brave as the pirates attacked. The Toon Force soon hit the pirates with everything they could throw at them.
"I sure hope that Snow White lady appreciates this." Lionel huffed.
"Especially Alice and The Hatter." Cherry added.
One pirate swooped down on a bungee cord and tried to grab Jill or Peter before bouncing back up in the air, but came back.
"Okay, Jill, I think I see a safe place to land." Peter told the girl behind him.
Jill looked over and saw a wooden floor over one of the bases. "Right, Peter!" she then nodded.
"All right..." Peter nodded. "And... DROP!"
And at that, Peter and Jill dropped to the floor together, letting go of the rope, then began to run away together. Tigerlily soon came back and she began to help out in the pirate attack while trying to stay hidden from them. Peter and Jill soon saw the strong and aggressive man that had fought Hook fighting off some pirates before he slid under a railing once he saw them.
"Peter. Jill." The strong and aggressive man said.
"Have you seen Hook or our friends?" Jill asked him.
"All of this because of you." The strong and aggressive man scolded.
"Hey! You can't talk to Peter like that!" Jill pouted.
One pirate soon punched the strong and aggressive man, making them fight each other before running. The floor was soon cracked open and there was a hole in it. Jill and Peter soon began to run until one of the pirates came out and tripped them before jumping up in front of them with a pistol, about to shoot them. The two kids yelped and panicked before the pirate was shot away and Hook was shown to had done that with his own gun.
"You're welcome!" Hook told them. "Now come on!"
"You got it!" Jill replied as she went with Peter after Hook since he helped them.
"Hey, Jack! I see Jill!" Cherry called out as she hid in a tree after making two pirates run into each other and knock themselves out after trying to look for her.
"Whew! That's good." Jack smiled.
"We better follow her Peter and Hook." Patch told the others.
"No arguments here." Thor said.
The group soon went and began to go with Hook, Peter, and Jill as Tigerlily joined them.
"Keep moving!" Tigerlily told them as she ran past them.
"No problem, Tigerlily!" Cherry replied.
One pirate swooped down right in front of them. Tigerlily then turned around to run away only for more pirates to show up from behind. Hook soon tried to shoot his gun, though he wasn't able to, as Peter suddenly hid away.
"Out of bullets already?" Lionel asked.
"I guess so." Hook replied weakly.
A battleship soon came from behind and Blackbeard was soon walking off of it.
"Oh, great... This clown again." Thor rolled his eyes.
"Just what we need, a pirate with zero taste of a decent pirate look." Lionel replied.
"Well, well, well. The princess I presume?" Blackbeard said as he faced Tigerlily.
"Well, actually, I'm just a miner, but I appreciate the compliment." Hook smiled and tipped his hat at the pirate.
Lionel snorted in response to that little joke.
"Bishop?" Blackbeard called.
The strongest pirate soon came over and struck Hook right in the face, making the smaller man fall and hit the ground.
"Ooh!" The group winced as that had to hurt.
Peter poked his head out from where he hid, quietly laughing to himself and Hook then saw him from where he fell.
"Go on." Hook quietly told Peter.
"We're out of here." Peter told Jill before he ran away with her.
Peter and Jill began to go off on their own without being spotted as Atticus, Mo, Lionel, Cherry, and Thor following them also not being spotted. As they continued to go on their own they saw began to see the pirates taking Hook and the natives that they caught, ready to get rid of them.
'Oh, my...' Thor thought to himself.
"This is not good." Jill frowned.
"No, it isn't." Peter admitted.
A loud sound was heard underneath the cliff before Peter glanced over, carefully looking to see where the sound came from. There were a few Neverbirds shown to be underneath the cliff, though they didn't see Peter, Jill, or their friends yet.
"I think I might have an idea." Peter said to Jill before backing away quietly so the Never Birds wouldn't attack them.
"We're all listening." Mo said.
Peter began to tell the group of what his idea was.
Meanwhile with Blackbeard and the other pirates and natives...
"All these years digging our hands raw, for tiny lumps of Pixium," Blackbeard began to firmly say to Hook. "And, now I learn from Mr. Smee, you know where there is a mountain of the stuff."
All of the pirates soon broke out laughing as Hook glared right at Smee who looked bashful and nervous of being called out like that.
"Nice as pie," Blackbeard then continued as he loaded his gun, aiming for The Chief. "Tell me where the flying boy is and, how to find The Fairy Kingdom, and you may live."
Peter and the others were hidden under the deck and the flying boy soon peeked from the gaps to see The Chief was kneeling, though brave in spite of the gun in his face.
"Death is the greatest adventure." The Chief bravely responded, not wanting Peter to get hurt.
"Bon Voyage." Blackbeard glared and soon shot The Chief, resulting in a colorful explosion.
Peter and the others soon rushed off from where they were back to where the Neverbirds were.
"Oh, boy. Well, this is going to be interesting." Thor whispered.
"All hail the new chiefette," Blackbeard told the crowd as he walked over to Tigerlily. "Princess Tigerlily."
"All hail!" The crowd replied.
Blackbeard soon loaded his gun, ready to kill the native princess.
"Tell him or he'll kill you." Hook told Tigerlily.
"He's right, you know." Blackbeard smirked, aiming his pistol right at Tigerlily.
Peter and the others were soon climbing down.
Cherry kept staring up towards the sky as she climbed down.
"Why is she looking up like that?" Jack asked the Toon Force.
"Cherry's afraid of heights," Lionel replied. "This was the only way me, Nightwing, and Batman could teach her how to climb without feeling sick to her stomach or being afraid of falling."
"Ohh..." Jack then said before nodding.
Peter overheard that and soon tried to do the same since he was afraid of heights too. A Neverbird was shown underneath him and it cooed, moving its head around.
"Nice birdy!" Peter called before jumping up onto the Neverbird suddenly.
The Neverbird flinched once he was on its back before looking back at him and shook, almost trying to throw him off.
"Well, let's hope the Neverbird doesn't mind more company." Jill said as she dropped down next.
Unfortunately, that surprised the Neverbird even more.
'This idea of Peter's is crazy.' Jack thought to himself.
"There's a map." Hook told Blackbeard.
"Traitor." Tigerlily sneered at Hook.
"Don't shoot her," Hook continued to Blackbeard. "She told me there is a map to The Fairy Kingdom."
"Traitor! How dare you betray us, pirate?" Tigerlily glared at him.
"I'm trying to save your life, sweetheart!" Hook glared back. "It won't happen again!"
I am trying to save your lives.
"It will not, I guarantee it." Blackbeard glared as he looked ready to shoot Tigerlily then.
Tigerlily squeezed her eyes shut as this looked like the end. Until suddenly...
"HEY, UGLY!" Lionel's voice called out.
Blackbeard snarled as he turned around from that.
"THE CAVALRY'S HERE!" Lionel continued as he and the others rode on the Neverbirds who swarmed around the pirates.
Blackbeard began to shoot as the pirates scattered before Hook and Tigerlily rolled away into a safe spot, then continued to run away while they still had the chance.
"Wahoo!/This is fun!" Jack and Jill cheered.
"You know what? Flying on these birds is a lot better than running from them." Thor smiled.
"I think I might be even sicker." Cherry groaned as they rode on the Neverbirds.
Peter laughed and cheered as he probably had the most fun on the Neverbirds so far.
Chapter Text
Blackbeard grinned once he spotted Peter and soon tried to shoot him off of the Neverbird that he was on. The Neverbird was soon spooked from the bullets and then bucked Peter right off of its back, sending him flying in the air, and crashing through one of the Indian tents.
"PETER!" Jack and Jill cried out.
"You brats too?!" Blackbeard glared once he saw the twins and The Toon Force.
"You better believe it!" Thor smirked.
"Yeah!" Lionel added.
Jill gulped before jumping down to join Peter.
"Jill, have you lost your mind?!" Jack exclaimed.
"I have to help him!" Jill called to her twin brother.
"Oh, Jill... What's gotten into you?" Jack sighed and shook his head.
"She's really coming out of her shell," Mo commented. "Metaphorically speaking, of course."
"Is she gonna be okay?" Jack asked Mo.
"I'm sure she'll be fine," Mo replied to him. "Just give her some time to find herself."
Jack blinked before shrugging as Jill went down after Peter and they both landed through the tent together.
"Can I tell you something, Peter?" Blackbeard's voice asked, making Peter and Jill look around for the horrible pirate. "You will never find your mother."
"Yes, I will find her." Peter nodded.
Blackbeard soon used his sword and made a small hole in a fabric startling Peter. "I know what you really really want," he then told him from the other side of the fabric. "You'll never find your mother and you know why? Because I killed her."
Peter looked shocked after hearing that.
"She died at my hand by this very blade," Blackbeard said before looking ready to strike. "As you will too."
Peter gasped as he spun around.
Jill grabbed onto him and fell backwards with him before ripping through the fabric and they both suddenly fell on the floor as Blackbeard came closer, glaring at both of them as he was going to cut them with his sword.
"Two for the price of one... How very promising~" Blackbeard grinned darkly.
Peter and Jill both flinched as Blackbeard towered over them.
"Close your eyes, children, and both of you think of happy thoughts~" Blackbeard smirked as he raised his sword high and was just about to drop it to cut them.
However, someone swooped down from the air and suddenly grabbed the kids, pulling them out of the tent while gliding up in the air and landing on a tree branch where Tigerlily was.
"BAD FORM, SIR!" Blackbeard glared as the tent ripped and fell all around him.
"We have to run. Now." Hook told Tigerlily.
"No, we have to jump." Peter said.
"That's right." Jill nodded.
They soon jumped down together from the tall tree in order to make their escape, using the tent as a parachute. Blackbeard soon saw them floating down from the tree behind his back and began to shoot at them with the other pirates following suit. A hole soon came in the fabric, making them shoot down a lot quicker.
"Oh, no!" Jill gasped.
Peter. Hook, Jill, and Tigerlily cried out before groaning as they hardly hit the floor after their parachute was destroyed, though Tigerlily wasn't badly hurt as she had landed on top of Hook.
"Peter... Jill... Are you hurt?" Tigerlily asked as she came to check on the kids.
"Well, I'm fine too, thanks for asking." Hook groaned as he tried to get up off of the ground.
"Don't speak to me," Tigerlily glared at him. "Because of you, everything, my people have fought to protect will be destroyed."
"Hey..." Hook began.
"Because of you, the Chief is dead." Tigerlily continued.
"Smee was the rat!"
"He was your friend."
"How was I supposed to know?"
"You should've known."
"I'm sorry if I did something wrong!" Hook snapped.
"Jilly? Jilly!" Jack called as he tried to look for his twin sister, scared and worried about her.
"He's with Peter." Tigerlily told him.
"Okay, and where is he?" Jack asked.
"Peter?" Tigerlily called out.
"We better go find them." Patch said as he walked over.
"Come, Dog, you can help too." Tigerlily said, suddenly grabbing Patch.
"Whoa! Hey!" Patch gasped.
"Dogs are excellent trackers," Tigerlily said. "Let's take a look."
Peter and Jill soon ran through the fields, though Peter was mostly running because he felt heartbroken.
"Peter!" Tigerlily called out.
"He's somewhere this way and I think that Jill's with him too." Patch said as he sniffed the ground, heading right for the fields.
Peter and Jill continued to run until they stopped as Peter had tears in his eyes.
"Finally caught up with you two." Patch said as he and Tigerlily came out from the bamboo plants.
Atticus and the others soon came out of the bamboo plants next.
"You lied. You all lied." Peter told Tigerlily.
"Lied about what?" Thor asked.
"I'm sorry." Tigerlily said softly as she knew what Peter was talking about.
"So it's true!" Peter glared with tears in his eyes.
"It's complicated." Tigerlily replied.
"What are you talking about?" Thor asked Peter.
"Like you don't already know," Peter glared tearfully. "Is my mother or alive or isn't she?"
"Ohh... Um..." Thor paused and stammered, not sure how to answer that question as he didn't know.
"...Blackbeard spoke the truth." Tigerlily admitted.
"And you lied to me!" Peter glared.
"Had we told you she was dead, you would have walked away from your destiny." Tigerlily explained.
"Whoever it is you think I am, whatever it is, you expect me to be, I am not, and, I cannot." Peter replied sadly.
"Peter..." Jill frowned, about to go to him.
"Just leave me alone! All of you!" Peter snapped at Tigerlily and The Toon Force before running away into the field again.
"We better go after him." Thor said.
'Even if he doesn't want to accept his destiny it's bound to happen sooner or later.' Atticus thought to himself.
Tigerlily and the Toon Force soon began to start following after Peter.
"Thank you for helping." Tigerlily told the Toon Force.
"Let's just say we have a big outlook for Peter's future." Lionel hinted slyly.
"Sounds good." Tigerlily nodded as they came into the field after Peter had run away in tears.
"Oh, believe me, this'll all be worth it in the end," Lionel nodded. "No tears from you either, Jill."
"Sorry," Jill frowned as she wiped her eyes. "I just wanted to help Peter and for him to be happy. You guys said that he would be happy in Neverland if we helped."
"And he will." Atticus said.
"Well, he's not happy now." Jill said.
"Well, I'm sure that things will cheer up later on." Patch smiled.
Jill frowned and rubbed her arm.
"Come on, Jill; it'll be okay." Jack comforted.
"I don't know..." Jill frowned.
"We can do this, together," Jack smiled to help comfort her. "Charming Twins' powers activate."
"Charming Twins' powers activate." Jill smiled back a bit.
"I guess they came up with a new catchphrase since the last time we saw them." Lionel shrugged at himself.
"It's a work in progress." Jack and Jill told him in unison.
"I couldn't..." Hook soon said as he came to see Tigerlily. "I didn't want to watch you die."
"You should've closed your eyes." Tigerlily retorted before going after Peter and the others.
Hook soon followed after her and where the sun began to look to be setting.
A while later, they were soon going down the river while floating in what looked to be a nest big enough for both of them.
"Blackbeard won't stop searching for Peter; there's only one place on this island he wouldn't look for him." Tigerlily told Hook.
"Mermaid Lagoon?" Hook asked as they got in the nest and he let his hand touch the water. "Sounds pretty... Therefore pirates are afraid of mermaids?" he then added.
"Because of what we will pass through to get there." Tigerlily clarified.
"Yeah?" Hook wondered.
"Crocodiles," Tigerlily then said as Hook removed his hand nervously and she noticed that. "Afraid?"
"No, ma'am..." Hook said, though obviously afraid and tried to hide it.
"Sure you aren't." Cherry smirked as she and the others were shown in a raft, going down the water after them.
"You guys made it?" Hook asked them.
"Yep!" Lionel replied, dressed like a ship's captain like on a cruise and even had a flower necklace around his neck. "Welcome to the S.S. Schwartz! There'll be shuffleboarding, live music, and margaritas at the midnight buffet!"
"This is nice." Thor smiled as he soon relaxed.
"Good thing crocodiles can't get in boats." Patch said.
"Oh? Is that a fact, Spot?" Hook asked before face-palming himself. "Am I arguing with a dog right now?"
"Yep!" Patch rolled his eyes before nodding. "And yes about the crocodile thing. It's scientifically proven that crocodiles are afraid of boats, canoes, or other watercraft."
"Funny... I thought that was alligators." Cherry snarked.
"Shh~" Patch shushed her.
Meanwhile, Blackbeard's crew were searching everywhere for important things to find the group with, especially Peter, but were surrounded by books as Smee wandered around nervously.
"Find the map. Keep looking." Blackbeard commanded his crew as he carried around a lantern.
"Is Smee please free?" Smee asked, coming beside Blackbeard anxiously.
"Pull the place apart!" Blackbeard continued, seeming to ignore Smee at first.
"So, may Smee be free?" Smee then asked the captain.
"No. You are too useful." Blackbeard scoffed.
"But, Smee has promised-" Smee began to speak up again.
"Smee should cease to talk of himself in the third person or Smee will be a non-person." Blackbeard threatened.
"Yes..." Smee nodded to Blackbeard as he looked all around before he saw a map that looked like it was sparkling a little bit, almost like it was hiding something very important and valuable to Blackbeard's search. "I found it. It's a map to The Fairy Kingdom."
Blackbeard came beside him before he called out to his crew. "Ready the ships!" he then commanded them before facing Smee. "We must get there before Peter and his friends."
Meanwhile back with Peter and the others...
Peter, Hook, and Tigerlily were still floating in their nest boat while the Toon Force were still floating in their boat. Peter brought out the piece of paper from his mother's letter before he began to tear it up and dropped the pieces into the water.
Jill saw what Peter did and frowned as she knew Peter was still hurting. 'Oh, Peter...' she then thought to herself softly.
"At least you have a family and home to go to," Peter told Jill as he stared into the water. "I have nothing left."
"Don't say that." Jill frowned.
"I just did," Peter replied firmly. "I'll never have anything."
Jill kept her frown, feeling very hurt and sad for Peter. Suddenly, there were bubbles that popped to the top of the water before something came out.
"CROCODILE!" Jack and Jill cried out as out came a vicious and hungry predator which was, in fact, a crocodile.
"I thought that stupid dog said that crocodiles hated boats!" Hook glared.
"Okay, so I was wrong!" Patch yelped.
"Let's use the torches!" Mo told the others.
"Yeah, aren't they afraid of fire? Or is that tigers?" Thor asked.
"Who cares?! Let's just get rid of this thing!" Lionel called out, flailing his arms.
Everyone soon grabbed a torch, hoping for the best as they looked all around for the crocodile. The crocodile didn't seem to be around... At least not yet. Perhaps it was hiding.
"Did we scare it off?" Peter asked as he looked in the water with the others.
Unfortunately, suddenly, the crocodile came back and leaped right out of the water and right over their heads before splashing back into the water.
"It's just like Free Willy!" Thor gasped.
"Except that was a killer whale," Cherry deadpanned. "Never smile at a crocodile."
"Oh, come on! It can fly?!" Hook complained.
"Keep waving your torches!" Tigerlily told the others.
"You got it!" Jack replied back.
"This croc is going to be quite a nuisance." Thor said.
"It's a croc," Hook scoffed. "They're all the same."
The crocodile snarled while seeming to come right back toward them.
"THERE!" Peter called out once he saw the bubbles in the water.
The crocodile soon hit the nest which made Peter fly out of it and splash into the water along with his torch.
"PETER!" The others cried out, but they couldn't find him.
"NO!" Jill cried out, feeling the most upset over losing Peter.
Jack frowned and hugged his twin sister to help comfort her.
"One of us has to go down there and save him!" Jill told the others.
"While there's that crocodile down there?" Hook asked.
"Well, we have to do something!" Jill replied.
"And what? It's going to be you?" Hook asked. "You're just one girl."
Jill looked at him and she soon jumped into the water suddenly.
"JILL! ARE YOU CRAZY?!" Jack cried out to his twin sister.
"I have to help Peter!" Jill called back. "And if you guys aren't going to help me, then I'm going after him myself!"
"Ooh... I don't trust this..." Jack said nervously as Jill went after Peter as best as she could in the water.
Peter reached his hand out as he gurgled under the water and the crocodile was dragging him down with it. Jill's eyes widened and she swam over, trying to get the crocodile away from Peter so that she could save him.
"I never thought I'd say this, but I kinda wish that Aquaman was here." Cherry commented.
"Wait, can't Jill change into any animal?" Thor asked.
"Yeah, she can." Patch nodded.
"And I can turn into anything from water to vapor and even ice." Jack said.
"So then why doesn't she change into an animal that can swim and help him?" Thor asked.
"Guys? She's already doing it." Cherry said.
"What makes you say that?" Patch asked.
Cherry pointed downward to see that there was a dolphin in the water that wasn't there before.
"Oh..." The others then blinked.
"Oh, Jill, do be careful down there." Jack said nervously.
Jill glared as she punched away the crocodile in the way of a dolphin to keep it away before she came to help out Peter before he could drown. However, as she was down there, there was something, or rather, someone glowing in the water who also came to help. There came two others as they all glowed and surrounded Jill and Peter. The girls in the water soon grabbed the crocodile to keep it away as Jill moved Peter out of the way in her own special way and the crocodile soon swam away in defeat.
"They've been down there a long time," Thor said in concern. "Maybe they met the little mermaid."
"We can only hope." Mo said.
"Well, we're about to find out." Patch replied.
They soon saw Peter gasp for air as he and Jill got up to the surface.
"Peter! What happened?" Hook asked as he took Peter's hand and helped him back up into the nest.
Peter gasped and panted as Jill changed back to normal to help the boy back onto the nest.
"You'll never guess what we saw down there." Jill said to the others before coughing a little.
However, before she could have them guess, the source was wading in the water, close behind them, and glowing under the sea.
"What are... Those?" Hook asked in shock.
"I don't know, but I think you're going to like them." Peter replied.
"You can say that again..." Hook said, entranced by the mermaids in the water.
"Those are mermaids." Atticus said.
"They sure are beautiful." Jack said.
Once they got close to shore, Tigerlily, Jack, Jill, Patch, Peter, Jack and Jill, and The Toon Force got out of their boats. Most of them were still in the water, but they were able to float. Jack and Jill stood close together since their bond was very strong and important.
"Guys, we can stand on this ground below, it's right here." Lionel told the others once his feet touched the ground underwater.
"He's right." Thor said.
The mermaids soon began to swam off once Peter was safe for the time being.
"They sure don't stay around for long." Patch said.
"I guess they're going back home." Lionel shrugged.
They all then looked forward as they saw a fallen down pirate's ship across from them.
"Hmm... Interesting," Thor remarked. "Must be an old rundown ship."
"I'm gonna check it out." Hook decided before he swam/walked towards the ship.
"Be careful." Tigerlily advised.
"Who's more careful than me?" Hook smirked as he continued to swim over to the ship.
"Famous last words." Thor said.
Hook soon swam into the water to find the mermaids.
"Something tells me he might meet up with the mermaids or will encounter the crocodile." Jack said.
"What makes you say that?" Cherry replied sarcastically.
"...Not very social, are you?" Jack asked her.
"Ask a stupid question, get a smartass answer," Cherry shrugged. "That's how my mind works."
"Just don't do it around Bruce... That got you in a lot of trouble when you sassed him last time." Lionel spoke up as Cherry then suddenly shuddered nervously.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about what happened to your mother," Tigerlily softly said to Peter. "However, Blackbeard didn't tell you the whole truth either."
Peter raised his head from that.
"Let me show you and if your friends want to come see too, they may." Tigerlily then added.
"Yes, please." Patch said.
"After all, we should get the whole story." Jill said.
"Very well." Tigerlily replied.
They soon went back into the water.
"Why are we going back in the water?" Mo asked.
"Follow me." Tigerlily told them as she began to lead the way through the water.
The others soon followed as Peter joined, staying close beside Jack and Jill though.
"The mermaids changed these waters with memory," Tigerlily began to explain. "You can see the past."
"Hmm... I did hear about water having memory..." Lionel commented and nodded.
Tigerlily put her hand on Peter's head. "Deep breath." she then told him.
Peter took a deep breath as Tigerlily put his head under the water while the others began to join him under the water.
To everybody's surprise, they saw a story playing out right in front of them through the water as they took a look, almost like the tree from the native tribe from earlier.
"There's no time," A woman's voice spoke. "Blackbeard's men nearly have us. Go to the Fairy Kingdom, hide, keep our people safe." she then ordered before going to charge for the shroud of darkness that resembled Blackbeard and the battle in The Fairy Kingdom.
"You never should have come back, Mary." Blackbeard's voice said before getting into a sword fight with her.
'Now we're about to find out the whole truth.' Jill thought to herself.
Jack gently took Jill's hand to comfort her. Jill glanced over and lightly squeezed his hand as they watched Blackbeard swordfight with the woman named Mary. Luckily for Mary, it seemed like she was winning so far.
"Yet here you are..." Blackbeard continued speaking to the woman. "Ready for them all to die rather than live with me."
Mary gasped as Blackbeard then became more violent in the fight against the rogue pirate, though he was still just a bit stronger than she was. Eventually, Mary cried out as she seemed to have been suddenly struck by Blackbeard.
"No... Mary! No! NOOOO!" Blackbeard cried out then as Mary seemed to had been killed.
'Wait, why did he cry out no?' Thor thought to himself.
Peter, Jack, Jill, and The Toon Force came up for air after seeing everything.
"My mother was a warrior." Peter said.
"A brave warrior. Her sacrifice still inspires us." Tigerlily nodded.
"...Did you know Peter's mother?" Jill asked as that response made her think.
"She trained me." Tigerlily nodded again.
"Would she had been proud of me?" Peter asked hopefully.
"Yes. Very." Tigerlily warmly reassured.
"But... What if I can't do what she did?" Peter then asked cautiously. "What if I fail to fulfill the prophecy?"
"And what if you fail to try, Peter?" Tigerlily lightly retorted. "What are you then?"
Peter didn't say anything and just stared down at his feet under the water.
"Hey!" Hook called out as he swam back toward them and grinned in excitement. "You gotta see this!"
They soon followed Hook to a pirate ship and where it looked like it was in one piece.
"Sweet." Thor smiled.
"It sure looks sturdy." Lionel said.
"Looks older than Drell." Cherry chuckled a bit.
Hook soon helped them aboard once he got to the ship first out of the water. "Now, the hull's a little banged up. See those teeth marks?" he then instructed before pointed up into the distance. "You see those teeth marks? Those crocs can jump!"
"I bet they can, especially around here." Jill nodded in agreement.
"But once I get her fixed up, she's gonna be in good shape!" Hook then told the others as he stumbled across the deck since the ship was tilted.
"For what?" Tigerlily asked Hook.
"To get us the hell off this island!" Hook replied.
"So you're gonna run like a coward?" Tigerlily asked him.
"Well, I never really thought of it in those exact terms, but in a matter of speaking yes." Hook told her.
"Where will you go?" Tigerlily asked.
"Home. It's, you know, it's where I come from." Hook replied.
"Home's not where you come from, it's how you make it." Tigerlily told him.
"Home is where the heart is." Thor added.
"I couldn't have said it better myself," Lionel agreed. "And I should know about home not being where you come from."
"So help me do that!" Hook retorted, a bit childishly.
The others just gave him a bit of a blank stare.
"Anyone that survived Blackbeard's attack is in the mine by now," Hook then continued as he got the ship ready as best as he could on his own. "And, I have been in there. I am not going back. Not for anything or anyone."
"Well, if you have no reason to stay, then go," Tigerlily retorted. "Go now. Leave us to die."
"Is she guilt-tripping him?" Jack asked Jill.
"I think so." Jill replied.
"I don't want you to die, I want you to come with me." Hook explained to Tigerlily.
"And if I don't?" Tigerlily asked.
"Then that's your decision... Not mine." Hook replied.
Hook soon went over to Peter thinking he and the others would join him.
"Well, kids, looks like the old gang's getting back together," Hook told Peter, Jill, Jack, and The Toon Force before walking up the stairs to the helm. "Let's get this ship in the air."
"Are you all thinking what I'm thinking?" Atticus whispered to the others.
"Yeah..." Thor replied. "I could go for a burger too. It seems like it's been ages since I last had any real food."
"...That wasn't what I was thinking." Atticus sweat-dropped.
"Whoops... Sorry," Thor chuckled nervously. "One-track mind."
Lionel rolled his eyes before he made a couple of burgers appear and Thor took them and stuffed his face instantly.
"As for the rest of us, yeah, we're not leaving Neverland yet," Jack said. "Not while Blackbeard is still around."
"And I'm going to do my best to fight off against Blackbeard." Peter told The Toon Force.
"You're just one kid." Jill reminded Peter.
"He wants me," Peter told her. "You all shouldn't have to suffer just because of me."
"So... You're going right away?" Thor asked.
"First, I'm going to talk things out with Tigerlily before I do anything else." Peter replied.
"Okay, but we're staying in Neverland." Atticus told him.
"That's right." Mo nodded.
"There's no way we're leaving as long as that heartless man or his crew are here." Jill added.
"Oh, don't worry," Lionel smirked. "I'm sure we'll take good care of Blackbeard once the time is right."
"Anything in your book about Blackbeard?" Thor asked Cherry as she looked at her Once Upon a Time book that revolved around "The Journey to Neverland".
"Uh... Just that the Captain Hook in this book used to work under him and imprisoned a human prince who fell in love with a mermaid princess," Cherry shrugged as she flipped through the pages in her book. "They had a swordfight at one point."
"Then maybe that's what we should do to take down that joke of a tyrant pirate." Thor then glared as he squeezed his hands together into strong and brutal fists.
"Sounds like a good idea to me." Patch said.
"After all, how else do you take down a pirate with that kind of outfit?" Atticus asked.
"Besides, he is a rotten pirate." Jack said.
Chapter Text
Peter soon went to talk with Tigerlily once it was morning. The others were getting set up as Peter went alone.
"I feel like I should've gone with him." Jill sighed.
"He'll be fine, Jilly," Jack told his twin sister. "He'll be right back too."
Jill blushed before looking over.
"...You really like Peter, don't you?" Jack guessed.
"...I think I might," Jill said bashfully as she stared down at the ground. "He makes me... Think about things I never thought about before."
"Yep, that's what love does to you." Mo smiled.
"Love." Jill smiled back happily.
Tigerlily watched as the ship Hook was on leave, thinking Peter and the others were with him before she saw Peter go up to her.
"Let's get one thing straight," Peter began to tell the native girl. "I'm not the Chosen One and the prophecy wasn't about me if it was ever real at all, but I am my mother's son and if Blackbeard is going to destroy everything my parents died for, I will stand against him to the last. Just like they did." he then said with a confident smile.
Tigerlily didn't say anything and just let him speak as needed.
"Now... Take me to The Fairy Kingdom." Peter lightly requested as he looked out to Neverland.
And so, Peter and Tigerlily began to walk off together as the ship took off to the sky as the sun was rising in the background.
"We better hurry and catch up to them." Thor said.
"Agreed." Jill nodded.
"Come on then, Storm Cloud and mi compadres," Lionel replied as he turned into Indiana Jones. "We're gonna go on an adventure through Neverland."
"Well, at least it's not like the one in my book." Cherry mumbled before shuddering in both fear and disgust.
"I shall torch Neverland in your honor." Lionel said with comfort in his voice before he walked with the others after Tigerlily and Peter as they began to venture together through the woods.
It took quite a while until they came through some dark caverns and walked across a path, leading up to something amazing and magical.
"It's just as The Chief described it." Tigerlily remarked breathlessly.
Peter put his hand on the wall and began to feel all around them. "These are words!" he then realized.
"That's great," Jill smiled. "We can find out what they say."
Unknown to them, Blackbeard and his crew were in hiding, waiting to ambush.
"What language is it?" Peter asked Tigerlily.
"Must be fairy language." Tigerlily guessed.
"Wow." Jack said.
"I don't think I can read this." Jill pouted.
"If you can't, then I definitely can't." Jack remarked.
"Well, I can read it." Peter told the twins.
"Really?!" The twins asked.
"I can read it!" Peter beamed as he looked at the ancient text.
"What does it say?" Tigerlily asked him.
"'Only the prince who bears the key shall pass'," Peter read aloud. "Just that. Then some boring stuff about the great fallen dead. It means we need a key," he then added. "Then this was all for nothing."
"Oh, I wouldn't say that." Blackbeard's voice smirked.
They all soon turned to see Blackbeard and his crew.
"Somehow I had a feeling we would meet him here, only I was hoping it was to keep him from getting in once we got the gate open." Patch said.
"Ya think?" Lionel replied cynically.
"'The prince who bears the key'," Blackbeard memorized with a sadistic smirk. "Don't you see, Peter?"
The others soon looked wide-eyed as that seemed very important suddenly.
"I am the--" Peter began to realize.
"You bear the key." Blackbeard clarified.
"I/He do/does?" Peter and the others asked in shock.
"Of course! How didn't I realize that sooner?" Lionel glared as he slammed his fist into his open hand.
Blackbeard smirked before he approached Peter and slashed his sword against the boy's panpipe necklace, cutting it right off from around his neck. "You've had it all along." he then told the boy as he swiped the necklace's trinket with fiendish glee.
"Wait. That's the key?" Jill asked.
"Well, not every key has to look like a key." Thor said.
"She knew I'd come for her." Peter replied to Blackbeard.
"Yes and of course I knew your friends would join you as well," Blackbeard smirked. "Mother tries to protect the kingdom by giving son the key. I killed her, but failed to get her son. In turn, son fails to protect the kingdom by giving me the key. Mum would be very disappointed, wouldn't she?"
Jill looked enraged towards Blackbeard as she knew in her heart Peter's mother wouldn't be disappointed in him.
"Y-You don't know that!" Jack glared. "Peter's mother wouldn't be disappointed in him!"
"Yeah!" Jill added.
"How would you know?" Blackbeard grinned darkly.
"I believe in my heart!" Jill huffed before crossing her arms. "You leave Peter alone, you big bully!"
"Very amusing, my dear, but not very scary," Blackbeard chuckled. "Just admit that I'm right and you are all wrong."
The rest of the group just glared, though Peter seemed to be the only one who believed the evil pirate.
"Don't listen to that palooka," Lionel told Peter. "You can trust me and the rest of the Toon Force. I don't know Jack and Jill that well, but you can trust them too based on the adventures I've seen with them and The Avengers Grimm."
"And besides, why believe anything this guy says?" Jack asked, referring to Blackbeard.
"Yeah, he left out some parts of the truth on his part." Jill nodded.
"So you learned more about what happened." Blackbeard smirked as he soon walked past them with the key. "Well, no time like the present."
Lionel soon stood in front of the way he knew that Blackbeard was going to. Blackbeard glared and simply whacked Lionel out of the way.
"Lionel!" Cherry and Thor cried out, rushing to their fallen friend.
Blackbeard soon used the key and unlocked the latch inside the wall, pulling it right off and chuckled. However, surprising to all of them, the wall began to crumble and opened up a secret door where a shimmering and shining light was right behind and they soon saw what was hidden inside... Something very valuable indeed to Neverland.
"Eternity beckons... I will live forever." Blackbeard said in relief and excitement before stepping inside.
"There must be that pixie dust stuff in there." Lionel guessed as Cherry and Thor helped him back up to his feet.
"Looks like it." Patch said.
A while later, they were soon back on a ship as they sailed through with Blackbeard in the front, not wanting to miss a second of getting as much Pixium as he and his crew could as well as possibly get rid of as many fairies as he could.
"Wakey-Wakey! Rise and SHINE!" Blackbeard called out as he sailed his ship.
"If I woke up to see that face in the morning, I'd never wanna wake up." Thor whispered to Cherry and Lionel who snickered in response.
"Solid burn and surprising from you," Cherry smirked in approval. "Nice one."
Thor grinned and chuckled, feeling pleased with himself. Peter, Tigerlily, the twins, and the Toon Force were shown to be tied up by their wrists as the ship sailed to collect the Pixium which could possibly destroy Neverland with its belief in fairies and magic.
"That's where we're going," Blackbeard remarked as he found something interesting. "The Fairy Hive. Destroy that and we destroy them all. Yes... YES! COME ON!" he then laughed in victory while Peter could just look around in horror.
One fairy soon flew out while she had the chance and she soon flew right around Peter, sensing a trust and friendship with him. She also seemed to like Jill too.
"Who are you?" Jill smiled and giggled in amusement over the pixie who approached them.
"Her name's Tinkerbell." Tigerlily informed.
"I can hear her." Peter smiled.
"They've been waiting for you, Peter." Tigerlily told him.
Tinkerbell began to start talking to Peter acting as if she was happy to see him.
"Listen, you have to get out of here," Peter began to warn Tinkerbell. "He's going to destroy all of you."
Blackbeard soon turned around with a smirk as the pixies glittered and fluttered around their hide-out.
"I know what I've meant to do, but I've failed!" Peter told the pixie in front of him and Jill. "I'm sorry."
Tinkerbell continued to speak to the boy before flying away.
"I'm sorry!" Peter told her.
"Oh... I hope she's not mad." Jill frowned in concern.
"All right, boys... Let's BURN THEM!" Blackbeard called out with a wicked chuckle as flames came from all around the ship's sides. "BURN THEM! BURN THEM! BURN THEM ALL!"
"NO!" Peter cried out.
"All right, think... Think... How can we get out of this mess?" Lionel wondered to himself.
"This is worse than Rumplestiltskin and that Wolf." Cherry groaned.
"There must be something we can do." Jack said.
'I doubt if there's anything we can offer him to make him stop.' Thor thought to himself.
"PLEASE I'LL DO ANYTHING!" Peter cried out to Blackbeard. "PLEASE!"
"Kid, no!" Cherry cried out.
"Don't beg." Blackbeard said as he faced Peter.
"Anything!" Peter cried out.
"No... It's bad form to beg," Blackbeard said as he slid down the rope to come down at Peter, Tigerlily, the twins, and The Toon Force as he drew out his sword. "Where is your sense of honor, boy?" he then cut down the ropes to free his hostages.
"It was that easy?" Cherry rolled her eyes. "You must want something from us."
"Certainly... Now kneel." Blackbeard smirked.
The group just stood there blankly, though Peter seemed to be crying.
"I SAID KNEEL!" Blackbeard barked.
"I am the son of a warrior and a prince," Peter spoke up as bravely as he could. "I will never bow to you and if I know my friends, Jack and Jill, and The Toon Force like I know them, they won't either. I won't let you hurt them, but if you're gonna kill me, then get on with it."
"As you wish." Blackbeard told him.
"You don't have to do this." Tigerlily told Blackbeard.
"No, but I will if I have to." Blackbeard replied.
"Why do you even want to kill the fairies? What have they ever done to you that you want them all to burn?" Jill asked the cruel pirate. "Don't you know that they are all important to Neverland?"
"That is none of your concern, little lady," Blackbeard glared. "I need their dust and in order to get the dust, the fairies need to die and when they die, I'll be free to have as much as I would want."
"Don't you have any remorse for the idea of killing innocent fairies?!" Jill glared sadly.
"I didn't expect you to understand," Blackbeard glared back as he raised up his sword. "You seem close to Peter... So you shall die with him."
"NO!" Jack cried out, fearing for his sister.
However, there was then suddenly a very loud and heavy bump that knocked the ship slightly off-balance, though it made Blackbeard fall and literally hit the deck.
"What the bang...?" Lionel muttered before looking over and beaming. "All right! Another flying pirate ship on OUR side!"
"Another flying pirate ship?" The group asked before looking out as that could only mean one thing.
"Did ya miss me?!" Hook chuckled as he was sailing beside them while steering his ship and tipping his hat to them.
"Hook?!" The group gasped.
"He came back!" Jill smiled.
"Why is it always him?!" Blackbeard glared.
Hook's pirate ship soon sailed ahead a bit as Tigerlily did her best to fight some pirates before her rope as wrapped around Blackbeard's ankle, causing her to pull it and causing him to fall on his back.
"Hope you had a nice trip." Thor smirked.
The Toon Force soon helped out in some of the pirate fights while Jack and Jill smiled at the sight of Hook. Peter then got down on the deck before Jack and Jill came by his sides as they tried to get out of the chaos of the pirate fight.
"We have to get down there and safely." Jill pointed out.
"But how?" Jack pondered.
"This way." Peter said once he found a way across one of the boards.
Jack and Jill then followed him. Mo took out some vines and whipped them at Blackbeard, stinging him and making him trip before she laughed as The Toon Force came to help her out so that they could come onto Hook's ship instead of Blackbeard's ship.
"When I say 'go', we all jump." Peter told the twins as they walked off together, carefully as possible.
"Wait, what?" Jack asked.
"Right." Jill nodded.
"Well, guess this is how we're getting on Hook's ship." Patch said.
"This is the way we're going and you can come too if you listen to what I say." Peter told Patch.
"Well... Okay," Patch replied. "I trust you."
Peter nodded firmly as they continued to walk during the pirate fight against Tigerlily, The Toon Force, and Blackbeard's men. Tigerlily soon jumped down while she had the chance and Smee looked amazed at the sight of that.
"Jump!" Hook called out once he saw them.
"Okay, guys! GO!" Peter told Jack and Jill before they jumped together first onto Hook's ship.
"You came back!" Peter smiled at Hook.
"We thought you didn't care." Jill smiled.
"Like I said, sometimes I lie." Hook reminded them.
Tigerlily soon came over the edge, about to jump down after the kids. Atticus decided to pick up Patch and carry him in his arm before jumping down with his Dalmatian. Thor held onto Lionel and Cherry the same way before going down after them.
"Looks like it's up to us..." Mo said as she and Tierlily were next to jump down onto the ship below them.
"COME ON!" Hook called out to Tigerlily as she was still on Blackbeard's ship.
"I can't let Blackbeard get to the hive!" Tigerlily called back before facing Mo. "You go down, I'll have to catch up later."
"No way. He'll have to fight the two of us." Mo told her.
"Are you sure?" Tigerlily asked.
"Trust me, I've faced worse than Blackbeard and the ones I've faced had better fashion sense than him." Mo told her.
"I heard that, you rapscallion of a girl!" Blackbeard snapped. "Girl? What am I saying? You look more like a boy! You're dressed the part."
"At least I look the part!" Mo retorted. "Man, you look worse than what my Aunt Carolyn wears at costume parties!"
"Why, you--" Blackbeard growled.
"You better not ruin his temper any further." Tigerlily advised Mo.
"I'm not scared of him," Mo smirked. "Some cheerleaders are stronger than him."
"We'll face you both then!" Blackbeard glared. "Get those girls!" he then commanded to his pirate crew.
"Well, this is going to be interesting." Mo smirked.
"You sure have a sense of adventure." Tigerlily said to Mo.
"I try anyway," Mo shrugged. "I've always been told that I've had a fiery and adventurous spirit since birth."
A pirate soon jumped down and slashed his sword at them.
"Didn't anyone ever tell you that it's rude to interrupt?!" Mo glared before she grabbed the pirate and threw him down to use him as a plank as he gripped the bars so that he wouldn't fall before she walked across him.
"Nice one." Tigerlily giggled, following after Mo.
Another pirate came down only for Tigerlily to punch him and knock him down, then Blackbeard came down next with his sword, facing the native girl and the tomboy.
"Mind if I cut in?" Blackbeard asked the girls before kicking the pirate off of the bar he was kneeling on, then came to slice, dice, and cut into the girls as Tigerlily was in front of him and he nicked his sword against her throat.
"We might not have swords, but we can still take him." Mo told Tigerlily.
"Indeed." Tigerlily nodded.
And where even without a sword, the two of them seemed to fight pretty well against Blackbeard and even had some fun as one of them had taken his wig off his head without him knowing.
"Missing something?" Mo smirked at Blackbeard.
Blackbeard touched his head before looking wide-eyed as he realized he was bald before he glared and continued to fight Tigerlily and Mo with his sword. Tigerlily and Mo swiftly dodged the blade as they moved to the other side before fighting back.
"Careful up there, Mo!" Atticus called.
"Dude, you are so into her." Cherry smirked slyly.
The ships sailed side-by-side as they traveled through the pixie dust encrusted scenery.
"We have to help them!" Hook told the others before facing Peter. "Take the wheel."
Mo and Tigerlily kept on fighting Blackbeard before he sent them both tumbling down to one of the other poles.
"You can get this puppy as close as you can." Blackbeard told Peter.
"Alright." Peter replied.
"Uh-oh..." Mo said, a bit nervous as she feared falling.
"And I'll jump across!" Hook then said as he grabbed his hat.
"In that case, I wish you a lot of luck." Cherry stated rather cynically.
Tigerlily soon helped Mo back up on her feet and they had to move quickly as Blackbeard went back to clashing his sword at them.
"Argh!" Mo cried out as she got cut in the arm, but luckily, it wasn't a deep cut, but it still hurt.
Tigerlily and Mo soon jumped back together as Mo held her bleeding arm and a sail was soon moved to dodge Blackbeard as he growled and went back to fighting them. Tigerlily then threw out her ax before making Blackbeard duck and fall onto the pole and he now had a cut against his head and Tigerlily held Mo close as they bounced back up against the ropes. Blackbeard glowered as he felt the cut and saw the blood on his head before the ship raised higher into the Pixium realm.
"Uh, Hook?" Patch called as Peter kept trying to steer the ship.
"Not yet." Hook told him as he got ready to jump when he needed to.
"Well, I hope it's soon." Thor said.
"Hold on!" Hook called out.
"Don't worry, we are!" Mo replied.
Blackbeard soon used his sword and cut one of the ropes, causing Tigerlily and Mo to yelp as one of the ropes was cut loose.
"Oh, no!" Mo panicked as they were close to falling.
The two ships soon bumped into each other which knocked Peter down from the helm and landing on top of Jack and Jill by accident.
Hook then groaned as he fell down the stairs from where he stood and landed on top of The Toon Force.
"Argh! Watch it!" Cherry complained.
"Hang on tight, Mo," Tigerlily told the tomboy. "We're gonna swing."
"Like Tarzan?" Mo asked weakly.
"I guess." Tigerlily shrugged before she got the rope ready and soon swung from it as Mo held on as tight as she could.
Jack and Jill soon grunted as they helped Peter back up on his feet and brought him back over to the helm as it was spinning out of control. Peter then grunted as he grabbed the helm and tried to steer it as strongly as he could.
"I'm feeling sick..." Mo said, starting to sound woozy.
"Please hold on." Tigerlily told her.
"I-I'll try." Mo said woozily.
The two of them soon looked to see Hook's pirate ship close by. Blackbeard looked ahead, smiling as he saw the pixie hive in sight.
"CAPTAIN!" One pirate called out before hopping off of the plank and throwing himself overboard... Right onto the ship with The Toon Force, Peter, and the twins.
Jill whimpered nervously and hid behind Jack. Jack frowned at his twin sister before glaring at the pirate who bounced on deck. Hook glared before throwing a loose plank at the man in front of him, putting him into a daze briefly as the wind blew strong, knocking Hook's hat right off of his head. The pirate laughed wickedly.
"All right, move left!" Hook told Jack and Jill. "Just trust me!"
Jack and Jill looked at him before moving out of the way like he did as the crane hook from the mast swung forward and then suddenly struck the pirate down, knocking him out that time. Tigerlily and Mo continued to swing while Mo held on as tight as she could while looking a little sick.
"We're not gonna win!" Mo cried out and groaned. "I just wanna go home!"
"Do not worry! We will win!" Tigerlily assured her.
"She's right!" Atticus added.
"Yeah!" Patch nodded.
"Besides, when has evil ever won a fight or battle?" Thor smirked.
"From every battle we've been in: 0." Lionel said.
"I really don't feel so good though..." Mo groaned.
"Hmm..." Lionel paused before concentrating and poofed away before he soon poofed up next to Mo, then saw her scrape. "Yowch! That looks pretty painful."
"I think I'm gonna be sick." Mo pouted at Lionel.
"Sorry about this, but it'll only be temporary," Lionel said before untying Mo's bandanna, then used it to tie around Mo's arm tightly to stop the bleeding. "This will have to do for now. Here, Mo, you can hang out with us so that silly dressed pirate doesn't ruin your day any further."
Blackbeard growled as he heard that before Lionel poofed away again, then came back over to the others as he gently set Mo down next to Atticus and smirked at both of them since he knew how much they liked each other, even as friends.
"Guys, I need to know if you can trust me." Peter began to tell Jack and Jill as he steered the helm before having another idea.
"Of course we do." Jill said.
"Yeah, whatever you have in mind we're on board." Jack nodded.
'Whatever idea he has going on in his head I'm hoping it involves flying.' Thor thought to himself.
"I'm very nervous, but I think if I believe enough, I can make it." Peter told the twins.
"Are you gonna jump?" Jack and Jill asked in twin unison.
"I think I should," Peter replied. "But do you trust me?"
Jack and Jill nodded in reassurance.
"Okay... Here I go..." Peter nodded before taking a deep breath and yelling out before he rushed to the side of the ship before looking down between the gap of their ship and the other ship with Tigerlily and Blackbeard on it.
"No..." Tigerlily whispered in concern as Peter looked ready to jump.
"PETER, NO!" Hook cried out as one of Blackbeard's stronger pirates lifted him off of the floor, about to throw him overboard.
Peter soon leaped out from the ship and soon crashed onto the other, grabbing one of the stands to hold himself up and he tried very hard not to let go.
"Whew! That was close." Thor sighed.
Tigerlily looked over to see Blackbeard still looking aim to kill as for Mr. Smee he decided to try and do the right thing as he made the rope Tigerlily was holding onto lower, but of course he got caught by one of the pirate crew members when he did that.
"Did Smee do that even if it meant getting in trouble?" Patch asked.
"I never know what to make of the character of Mr. Smee." Cherry shrugged.
"Hopefully he's come to his senses and is going to turn his back on Blackbeard," Lionel said before mumbling. "Not that Captain Hook is any better of an option."
Blackbeard grabbed Smee's shoulder which meant that the smaller man was in trouble now as Tigerlily was now free to kick the other pirates' butts once she had the freedom. The ship began to go down and was crashing against some Pixium crystals in the process.
"The Pixium!" Jill gasped. "Oh... I hope that's not bad for Tinkerbell and the other fairies."
Hook and the strong pirate grunted as they crashed against the ship since they were out of each other's grips as Peter swung over, trying to stay steadied and balanced on the runaway pirate ship.
"Okay, now I'm going to be sick!" Cherry groaned as the ship skid and slid around across the crystals.
"Well, at least this'll get better," Thor said. "Or at least that's what I'm hoping for.
The anchor began to go on against the crystal even when the pirate ship kept on going down.
"How in the world are we going to stop this thing from falling?" Patch asked.
"How do you guys think I feel?!" Hook called out sharply as he dangled from the mast.
The rogue and strong pirate who tried to brawl Hook was soon yelling out as he flew through the air and fell right down to the ground as the former continued to dangle for his life.
Peter looked down and around and Hook began to look sad as it looked unlikely for him to survive, like he could fall at any minute now. "No..." he then whispered worriedly for his friend.
Hook then squeezed his eyes shut and let himself fall off and came crashing down after the pirate who tried to beat him up on deck. Jack and Jill looked at each other before hugging each other, feeling emotional from that moment.
"It's over, boy." Blackbeard challenged Peter.
"Very well, you may challenge him," Jack spoke up before glaring. "But you're gonna have to take me with him."
"Me too as well." Jill added, sounding brave.
"Fine then." Blackbeard smirked.
"Jack. Jill." Peter said as he looked at how brave they were facing Blackbeard.
"We're not going to let this pirate kill you, Peter." Jack said.
"We're friends and we help each other," Jill added. "Even if it's risky, we're a family and we'll stand strong together and we won't fall."
"That's part of being in The Avengers Grimm too," Jack nodded before looking back at Peter. "Aunt Alice and Hatter would very much like you to join our division of The Toon Force's allies in The Justice League."
"...I'm glad I met you two," Peter said with a small smile. "I wish we could've met sooner in the orphanage."
"Me too," Jill smiled back. "Though our mother says that things happen for a reason... Like our birth mother had to leave us and retire into the afterlife."
"Oh... How very sweet... It's so cute to see you three being close together," Blackbeard cooed before smirking darkly. "But I'm afraid that it won't last long, even with your little petty power of love and friendship. All of you then... Come." he then did a "come hither" gesture with his finger.
"If you still trust me, you'll follow me." Peter told Jack and Jill before he jumped backwards and came crashing down off of the plank, avoiding Blackbeard suddenly.
"Is he crazy?!" Thor yelped.
"Well, here goes nothing." Jill said.
"He did say if we still trust him we'll follow him, so..." Jack said.
The twins soon followed Peter as they jumped.
"I take back what I said. Are They crazy?!" Thor yelped.
"Kids! NO!" Cherry cried out.
Lionel bit his nails nervously as Peter and the twins fell down together before they soon came over to Hook as the man was still falling as well. Tigerlily then jumped down from where she was, avoiding the pirates, then kept running, looking out for them to make sure that they wouldn't hurt her.
"YOU! Grab that girl!" Blackbeard commanded his crew.
Two pirates soon grabbed Tigerlily and held her up against the mast as Blackbeard hopped down to approach the native girl.
"Faith... Trust... And pixie dust!" Jack and Jill called out as they grabbed Hook and Peter took the man's shoulders.
"Let's go!" Peter told them before flying with the twins with Hook as they came back up towards the ship.
"Right!" Jack and Jill nodded together.
Tigerlily and the others soon looked to see that Peter and the twins were actually flying.
"Pan!" Tigerlily smiled as she saw them flying.
"Wahoo!" Patch howled out of excitement.
"They're flying!" Thor cheered.
"Of course, uh, I knew it all along." Lionel chuckled.
"Sure, Lionel." Cherry rolled her eyes with a smirk.
"They're gonna save the world..." Mo smiled wearily as she looked a little better, but was still a little woozy from the blood loss.
Blackbeard glared once he saw the kids flying through the air with Hook at hand as he looked around in amazement.
"We can fly!" Peter beamed.
"We're flying!" Jack added.
"Look at us, Hook! We're flying!" Jill smiled.
"All right, you don't have to crow about it!" Hook complained before it looked like they almost dropped him before he yelped until he was caught right back again. "Whoa! Crow all you want, just neither of you drop me!" he then warned them.
Tigerlily soon found that as the right time to kick Blackbeard away from her before kicking and elbowing away the two pirates who had grabbed her and tried to hold her down against the mast. Peter, Jack, and Jill soon arrived at a crystal before landing as they set him down on it.
"Now go." Hook told them.
Peter, Jack, and Jill soon took off flying.
'This is amazing.' Jill thought to herself.
"We did it, Jill... We mastered the use of pixie dust," Jack smiled at his twin sister. "I think we did something really great."
"Wait 'til Mother, Father, and the other Avengers Grimm see this." Jill smiled back as they flew with Peter.
Hook watched the kids go, hoping that they would be alright in the end, though he believed that they would be just fine. The pixies seemed to fly over to the kids, especially around Peter, as they seemed to trust him and he was going to have a very bright future from now on.
"We're going to beat Blackbeard and help you, I promise." Jill told the fairies who flew beside them.
"She's right," Peter agreed. "If we're going to beat him, we're gonna do it together. Do you hear me?"
The pixies then agreed with him.
"Then let's get extra help too, Sis," Jack said. "Tell some of them to go over to The Toon Force."
"You heard my brother," Jill told the pixies, sounding very brave and confident. "Go let The Toon Force help us stop Blackbeard and we can all save Neverland."
The pixies nodded before flying off to let the Toon Force help stop Blackbeard.
"Ooh, I have a good feeling about this." Thor smiled.
The pixies soon flew over to the Toon Force and began to help them fly so they could help stop Blackbeard.
"Looks like they trust us." Patch smiled.
"Just think of the happiest things," Peter told them. "It'll be the same as having wings."
"Let's all try, just once more." Atticus suggested.
"Look! We're rising off the floor!" Patch pointed out as they began to levitate off of the crystalized ground.
"Primo! We can fly!" Lionel cheered.
"We can fly!" The Toon Force beamed together.
"YOU CAN FLY!" Peter and the twins cheered.
"Come on, everybody, here we go!" Peter called as they flew right back for the ship. "Off to Blackbeard!"
The group soon flew off altogether and they were even being watched by a telescope.
"FIRE!" Blackbeard commanded as the pirates soon lit and blasted off cannons to shoot down Peter and the rest of the group with him beside the pixies.
The Toon Force, Jack, Jill, Peter, and the pixies soon dodged the canon balls that were launched right at them and they began to fly around the pirate ship, ready to attack at any time. Blackbeard soon threw Tigerlily across the floor and where they soon saw what the group in the sky were doing.
'Here goes nothing.' Jack thought to himself.
"Ready?" Peter asked the twins, Toon Force, and the pixies.
"Ready as we'll ever be." Cherry replied.
"Good..." Peter nodded as he rounded up the pixies as they flew over Blackbeard's ship. "Everybody get ready for a new move I'm gonna call 'The Pixie Punch'."
The others then moved their hands together and looked ready to punch as they did what Peter did before he then punched the air with the pixies as the others did the same.
"GO!" Peter then called out as they thrusted together.
The pixies then swarmed Blackbeard's ship, whizzing all around the pirates and accidentally knocked Tigerlily down as they zipped all around the ship.
"Sorry, Tigerlily!" Jack and Jill called out.
Tigerlily then got back up really quick before she took her axe away from Blackbeard and he used his sword to hit her, but their two weapons began to clash together as the pixies swarmed on the ship.
"I think the pixies are really excited to be helping us out." Cherry commented.
"Yep, I think you're right." Atticus nodded.
The pixies began to make one of the pirates fly up into the air without him in control.
"Nice." Patch said.
Tigerlily continued to fight with Blackbeard while the pirates were flying without in their own control as the pixies were more powerful with their magic and power of flight. Some pirates were spun around, some were crashed out the windows and the doors, and some were even moved to run into walls, but most of them were being sent crashing overboard of Blackbeard's ship. Smee even tried to sneak onto a lifeboat before the pixies tripped him into it and he soon loosened the rope so that he could go down in the lifeboat as he luckily made it inside.
"Now where do we go, Peter?" Cherry asked the boy.
"Right for Blackbeard." Peter replied as he stormed that way.
"Aye-Aye!" Cherry nodded before they began to follow him.
Tigerlily dropped her short sword in the middle of the deck floor, but she continued to beat up Blackbeard until she dove out of his way every time he tried to cut her with his own sword as Peter and the others made it over toward the brawling two before they gently landed on the floor and looked over at Tigerlily and Blackbeard. Tigerlily looked happy to see them before getting grabbed from behind by Blackbeard.
"Got you." Blackbeard said as he grabbed her.
They soon saw the last pirate be sent flying off the pirate ship by the pixies and now it was just them and the pixies.
"Looks like someone's without his pals." Cherry taunted Blackbeard.
"What're we gonna do to him, Peter?" Jill asked.
"Just follow my lead with the pixies." Peter told her.
Blackbeard saw that his crew was all gone and it was just him as he kept his hold on Tigerlily.
"Think a happy thought." Peter smirked before he thrusted his arm and the others began to do as he did.
The pixies then shot out together as they grabbed Tigerlily's short sword and began to grab onto Blackbeard to get him away from Tigerlily. The pixies then began to attack as Tigerlily was free while Peter and the others looked relieved.
"Let's get out of here." Peter told his friends before he grabbed Tigerlily and flew up with her to get her off of the ship.
Once they got off the ship, they flew back to watch Blackbeard's demise.
"Boy!" Blackbeard glared while he's being handled by the pixies.
Everyone watched as Blackbeard's pirate ship was heading towards a giant pixium crystal before the ship crashed into it.
"Hello..." Blackbeard muttered as he looked up while he and his pirate ship went crashing down.
"And goodbye." Cherry added a bit darkly.
The others bowed their heads a bit as this looked like the end of Blackbeard.
"Well, he went down the honorable way," Lionel remarked. "A good captain always goes down with his ship."
"Come on, let's get back down," Cherry said. "I miss the ground right now."
Peter then flew with Tigerlily to come down out of flight and the others soon followed after him. After they landed, Hook watched them calmly and carefully before Peter and Tigerlily suddenly shared a hug.

Peter then flew with Tigerlily to come down out of flight and the others soon followed after him. After they landed, Hook watched them calmly and carefully before Peter and Tigerlily suddenly shared a hug.
"We came all this way and I wanted to help Peter find his mother... But I couldn't do it." Jill frowned as she felt bad suddenly.
They all soon saw something happening with the pixies.
"Uh, Jill, I think the pixies can help him meet her which is kinda like finding her." Thor said.
"Peter..." Tigerlily said to the boy.
Peter soon turned around to see the pixies all forming into what looked like an image of Peter's mother.
"Peter..." The image spoke before smiling.
Tigerlily then let Peter go and the boy slowly approached the image of his late and estranged mother, Mary.
"Mum?" Peter blinked.
"You found me." Mary smiled.
Peter soon stopped, looking emotional. "...I have your eyes." he then said to her.
"You have my heart." Mary smiled softly.
Thor soon hugged Lionel in the background as the smaller boy looked a bit emotional himself.
"I have imagined this moment my whole life, and now... I love you, Mum... So much," Peter said emotionally. "I don't know how you can miss someone you've never met, but I've missed you every day."
"Every day?" Mary repeated softly.
"Without you, I'm lost again, even without Sister Rose... What do I do now?" Peter asked.
"You're not lost, you're home," Mary said as she came over to him to gently touch and comfort her son. "On this island with these people. Your people. Your family. You must never give up on them as you never gave up on me."
"But Mum... I don't want to lose you again." Peter frowned tearfully.
"You'll never lose me," Mary promised. "I will always be a part of this Neverland and a part of you. I love you, my son... My Peter. My Peter Pan..." she then added before her image began to dissolve and she was now gone forever.
Peter was happy he got to meet his mother even if it was for a short time. The next thing that happened was Peter and his friends were flying around Neverland with the pixies as everyone in the woods were happy that he was their Pan from the legend and knew it was time for celebration. As Peter and the others flew off to a good distance, they saw fireworks going off.
"Everyone sure is happy." Jill said.
"It's a very happy ending for our new friend." Jack added.
"No, actually, it's something even better." Jill smiled.
"And what would that be?" Jack asked his sister.
"A happy beginning." Jill smiled in excitement for Peter's new life and legacy.
"Thank you for helping me," Peter smiled fondly at the twins. "But there is something that needs to make Neverland even more complete after the defeat of Blackbeard and me becoming the new heir to The Fairy Kingdom and calling myself 'Peter Pan' from now on."
"Really?" Thor asked.
"And what might that something be?" Lionel asked.
"Special help from other lost boys I happen to know," Peter replied. "They can help me stand up in Neverland and protect it from any threats that might come its way..."
"Lost boys... That sounds like a good idea, Peter." Jill remarked.
"Yes," Peter nodded. "I know just where to look too."
MEANWHILE, BACK IN THE ORPHANAGE...
"Good night, my little angels," Sister Rose said as she shut the door on the sleeping boys before sighing. "...Good night, Peter and friends... Wherever you ended up... I know just how you feel about being lost and alone... I too wonder what my purpose in life could ever be... Without a family there to help you." she then said before holding out her hand before a fireball seemed to appear in the palm of her hand like how Snow White could make icicles appear through magic and her own special ability.
In the boys' bedroom, all the boys were asleep while one of them couldn't seem to stop thinking of how his best friend and other new friends were gone. "Peter," Nibs said in his sleep before waking up after hearing something or someone land on his bed and see who it was. "Peter?"
"You thought I'd leave you here?" Peter smiled innocently.
Nibs smiled back as he sat up and looked very thrilled to see his best friend finally back. "No, I never." he then shook his head.
"Feel like some fun?" Peter smiled back.
"Yes, please!" Nibs nodded.
Suddenly, a light shined all over from above the ceiling which began to make the other boys wake up as something was about to happen. Rose looked over as she thought she saw a light shining under the crack of the door from where the boys slept and cracked the door open a bit before gasping as Nibs looked excited and hopeful. Meanwhile, Mother Barnabus was fast asleep in her bed until her eyes flashed open and she sensed a disturbance. She then quickly got out of her bed and dashed down the hallway to get to the bottom of the mystery that haunted her.
"What's going on here?" Rose asked as she stepped inside as ropes dangled from the ceiling and she gasped "Oh!"
"Sister Rose, I'm going to make all of the lost boys happy," Peter told her. "I was hoping that I would see you too."
"Peter, I'm so happy you're alright, but what's going on?" Rose asked.
"I'm taking the lost boys to Neverland." Peter smiled.
"Neverland?" Rose asked.
"Yeah. It's a place where they'll be happy." Peter said.
"Hmm... Well, this orphanage isn't a paradise with Mother Barnabus in charge," Rose said. "Wait, what about Jill and the others? Are they alright?"
"They're fine," Peter replied. "They promised that they'd help me out before they would go back home."
"Well... I'm glad they'll be okay," Rose smiled. "I always knew there was something very special about you, Peter."
"Yes, I think I've found it in myself too," Peter smiled back before thinking about it. "...Why don't you come to Neverland with us?" he then offered. "You can meet Tigerlily and Hook and we'll all live happily together where we never have to worry about Mother Barnabus again."
"...It does sound nice," Rose said softly. "I don't know though... I've been in this place so long."
"But don't you hate working for Mother Barnabus? She's horrible." Peter reminded.
"Yeah, she is horrible." Rose nodded as she had to admit that.
"So come with us? You'll love it in Neverland." Peter smiled.
"Oh... Perhaps..." Rose replied. "I'll see you off there, but I'd like to think about it."
"Of course," Peter reassured. "Take all the time you need."
Rose smiled before hugging him, lightly stroking his hair before they separated. All of the boys soon stood upon their beds as Peter made sure that they did and held onto some ropes that were given to them.
"All right, gentlemen. Hold on tight." Peter instructed bravely and confidently.
"Peter! You don't have a rope." Nibs noticed.
"We have a lot to talk about." Peter simply replied.
And so, one-by-one, the boys began to fly up with their ropes as Peter soon jumped off from the wall and floated in mid-air.
"All right, let's see what this Neverland is all about." Rose said to Peter before she took off on her own rope.
"You're gonna love it." Peter smiled.
And just as they began to take off, Mother Barnabus soon burst into the room before seeing Peter in mid-air as he saluted her away before taking off flying to get back to join the others. The pirate ship was then seen flying off and away from the orphanage.
"Goodbye!" Rose called out before she looked at her outfit and frowned. "Hmm... I suppose I could go through a new life."
"Maybe you'd like a new outfit too." Cherry suggested as she was shown with the others on the flying pirate ship.
"Yes... I suppose that could do," Rose nodded. "And don't call me 'Sister Rose' anymore. I'm Rose-Red after all."
The others nodded before they used some magic to give Rose an outfit that suited her more which was a tank top with a black jacket and leggings with boots and her black hair, showing a slight crimson tint in it, was worn down. She looked a lot more familiar to the twins and The Toon Force when she looked more like her natural self.
"Phew... Thank you..." Rose smiled before she took off her jacket, showing a special birthmark on the side of her left arm which looked like a crown.
"No prob." Lionel said.
"Now get ready we're headed to Neverland." Thor said.
"Just be ready to hold onto something on the way there." Patch told her.
"He can talk?" Rose asked.
"Yeah. Everyone reacts like that the first time." Patch replied.
"I always believed in magic, even if I come from a land without magic," Rose said. "...As far as I remember anyway."
"Do you know much about your past?" Cherry asked curiously.
"I'm an orphan myself," Rose replied. "As far as I remember. I believe my parents died after I was born because I had no other relatives or anything else of my own home and I've been working in this orphanage for as long as I can even remember."
"Sounds mysterious." Patch remarked.
"Mysterious like in mystery," Cherry added. "Maybe we can try to help you find yourself."
"Thank you." Rose smiled.
"It's no problem really." Mo smiled back.
Rose smiled before she looked out as they were on their way back to Neverland.
Tigerlily soon climbed up on a deck to see a certain friend of theirs. "I thought you were leaving?"
"Change of heart," Hook replied at the helm. "Will you take the wheel, please?"
Tigerlily gave him a small smile, then approached the helm and began to steer it a bit. Hook put his hand on her hand before he then began to leave as she took it from here.
"You don't want to go home?" Tigerlily then asked him.
"I already am." Hook said calmly as he looked back at her.
The two then shared smiles with each other as Cherry read from her 'Journey to Neverland' book.
"And with one final twist, Peter Pan was gone, never to be seen or heard from ever again," Cherry read from her book as Lionel rested his head in her lap while the twins sat at her feet. "And then, he disappeared in a bright light and the town was saved from his cruelty and abuse, freeing young Wendy to go back home with her brothers to be a family again."
"Whoa." Jill said.
"The Peter Pan in that book sounds completely different from the Peter we know." Jack said.
"Yeah, there are different versions of him in different Peter Pan books." Cherry replied.
"Interesting..." Jack commented before looking at his twin sister. "...Jill, you really like Peter, don't you?"
"...I kind of do, yeah." Jill blushed.
Jack frowned before he took a deep breath and a slow, shallow sigh before he shut his eyes. "...Well, if you want to stay in Neverland with him... I won't stand in your way," he then said. "Just know that I will miss you a lot."
'Oh, right. After this adventure, it's back home, but I don't want to leave Peter,' Jill thought to herself. 'What do I do?'
"Too bad we can't visit this Peter whenever we want." Patch said out loud.
"I dunno, but it looks like Peter's gonna be added into the book of The Avengers Grimm." Cherry said to the others.
"That should be interesting," Patch commented. "That is what that book is, right?"
"I guess so," Jack shrugged. "It was in our new parents' library and it tells stories about them, Aunt Cinderella, Aunt Rapunzel, Aunt Briar, Aunt Alice, and even Red before Rumplestiltskin struck and led the rebellion wars in the kingdom that started our misadventures in the first place."
Then suddenly, the book glowed before, in fact, Peter's story was added to the book as a brand new page through magic.
"Ooohh..." The others reacted in awe as the book seemed to be collecting fairy tale history.
"Man... I wish I could come up with good stories like that." Cherry said softly.
"Sure you can." Atticus smiled.
"Yeah." Mo nodded.
"You're a great writer." Lionel assured Cherry.
"That's right." Thor added as he nodded.
"Mm-mm..." Cherry shook her head a bit before the book glowed again. "What was that?"
"Huh?" Jack asked before he checked the book. "It looks like another page has been added too."
"Maybe it's for Tigerlily or Hook?" Thor suggested.
"Let's see," Jack said before opening the book. "...Hey, it looks like a picture of our new mother as a little girl with another girl who looks just like her."
"Does it have a title?" Mo asked.
"It says... 'The Untold Story of Princess Snow White and... Princess Rose-Red'?!" Jack replied, looking wide-eyed.
"Did it just say Princess Rose-Red? Okay, looks like we have some questions that will need answering." Atticus said.
"Yep." Mo nodded.
Peter and Nibs soon came onto the main deck where everyone else was.
"Is he a pirate too?" Nibs asked once he spotted Hook.
Hook then went to hide behind Tigerlily once the boys looked over.
"No," Peter chuckled. "Not yet anyway."
"Which way should we go?" Tigerlily asked as she steered the helm.
"Set a course!" Both Hook and Peter said at the same time.
"Hey! Who's in charge here?" Peter asked the adult man.
"Well, I'm the captain here." Hook reminded him.
"And I'm The Chosen One." Peter retorted smugly.
"Oi." Jill rolled her eyes playfully.
"They are definitely friends." Patch whispered to the others.
"Yep." Mo nodded.
"We'll have plenty of time to argue about that later, Fly Boy." Hook smirked at Peter.
"Suit yourself, Captain Hook." Peter smirked back.
Tigerlily smiled in amusement as she continued to steer them back to Neverland.
"Set a course!" Hook soon called out to Tigerlily.
"And where are we going?" Jill then asked.
"Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning!" Hook proclaimed.
All of the boys soon cheered in excitement over that.
"Onward to Neverland." Rose smiled.
'They are going to have great adventures.' Mo thought to herself.
"Uh, so how exactly are we getting back home or to the next adventure?" Patch asked the rest of the Toon Force.
"Don't worry about it." Lionel replied.
"Whatya mean?" Patch asked.
"Just trust me, okay?" Lionel grinned and winked. "Are you forgetting that I often travel through dimensions?"
"Oh, yeah." Patch smiled.
"Exactly." Lionel nodded.
"I can't wait to tell The Grimm Avengers about this adventure." Thor said.
"It looks like we're gonna build onto The Avengers Grimm too," Jack smiled as he hugged the book. "Maybe you guys could join us on even more fairy tale adventures in the future."
"Maybe so and maybe if you guys are lucky, you can join us on Justice League adventures too." Cherry replied.
"Yeah!" Jack and Jill cheered together, excited about that possibility.
The boys then began to cheer in excitement about going to Neverland and being far away from that horrible orphanage they were forced to spend their whole lives in.
"We'll always be friends, Hook. Won't we?" Peter smiled.
"Always," Hook smiled back. "What could possibly go wrong?"
"Oh, they have no idea." Mo whispered to Atticus.
"Let's hope that it won't ever have to come to that." Atticus whispered back.
"So should we get back home?" Patch asked.
"Yeah, home sounds good." Thor nodded.
Eventually, the ship called The Jolly Roger docked in Neverland. The orphanage boys, now called The Lost Boys, ran all over and began to get settled into their new home.
"Peter, I think you're gonna be very happy here," Jill said emotionally. "Neverland sounds wonderful and amazing."
"Well..." Cherry began.
"Shh. Don't ruin it." Lionel advised since she had read a darker and scarier version of Neverland.
"So, Jill, you're leaving?" Peter asked the girl.
"Yes, Peter," Jill said, bowing her head before looking back up at him with tears in her hazel eyes. "I know this is your destiny and this is your home now... So I'll let you stay here and I'm going to go back home with my brother, Jack."
'Goodbyes are always hard.' Patch thought to himself.
'Let's see how Peter responds.' Atticus thought to himself.
'She loves him. That's why she's not looking him in the eyes, she knows it's hard to say goodbye.' Rose thought to herself.
Peter soon hugged Jill suddenly. Jill's eyes widened before she blushed and hugged him back, looking emotional.
"I wish you could stay, but I understand," Peter said to Jill. "You need to go home to your own family... And I've found a family and home of my own too. Here in Neverland."
"Yeah," Jill nodded. "I'm gonna miss you a lot, Peter. Maybe we can meet again after I tell my Aunt Alice all about you down at Looking Glass."
"This Looking Glass place sounds amazing," Peter smiled. "Put in a good word for me to this Alice lady."
"I will, I promise." Jill smiled back before they hugged again.
A door-shaped hole soon appeared behind The Toon Force.
"Guess that's how we're going back home." Patch said.
"If we're all done, then we should go," Lionel said. "Everybody say your goodbyes."
"Goodbye, Peter," Jill told the boy. "Thanks for being our friend."
"I just wish we could've met sooner." Jack added.
"Me too," Peter nodded before hugging the twins goodbye. "I'm really gonna miss you two."
"We're gonna miss you too." Jack and Jill nodded in the hug.
After separating from the hug, Jack and Jill soon went through the portal with The Toon Force. Once they went through, the portal soon closed as they arrived back home. Peter then smiled at his friends, now being called The Lost Boys, as they began to start their brand new adventures together.
Chapter Text
Eventually, everyone at Looking Glass was waiting and soon, Jack, Jill, and the Toon Force came back after their adventure was complete.
"Ah, good," Alice said with a warm smile on her face at the sight of the twins and the new allies to The Avengers Grimm. "I see you were able to survive the pirates, especially that joker: Blackbeard."
"With his choice of clothing, it was not really a challenge." Jack said.
"And we met lots of pixies in their kingdom." Patch added.
'Time to keep my promise to Peter by putting in a good word for him to Aunt Alice.' Jill thought to herself.
"So how was this Peter Pan?" Alice asked. "Is he going to join The Avengers Grimm?"
"Probably in the future, but we had a good time," Jill replied. "Neverland is something like I've would've only seen in my dreams... I just wish we could've helped his mother."
"Ah... Yes, I trust it was a hard time." Alice said.
"I kinda liked this Peter Pan better than in my book," Cherry smirked. "It was interesting to know about his origin story. Though I guess we'll see what happens next when he meets the Darling children... If they're a part of your world or not that is." she then added with a shrug.
"You mean like that girl Wendy?" Jill asked.
"Yes, like Wendy," Cherry replied. "At least in the versions of I've always seen of Peter Pan, he always meets a girl named Wendy who he takes to Neverland along with her brothers."
"Right." Lionel nodded.
"Yep." Mo added.
"So when should we do our next adventure?" Patch asked.
"That's kind of sudden, Spot," Cherry said. "We just got home. Maybe we'll go on another adventure next time."
"With The Avengers Grimm?" Patch asked.
"Well... I dunno..." Cherry shrugged. "Alice?"
"Well, only if your group is interested," Alice replied. "We have a lot of fairy tales to uncover and build up upon Looking Glass, especially since we've recruited Piper and Goldie who is currently going steady with The Big Bad Wolf, or 'Wolfie' as she calls him."
"You could also help us on Justice League adventures if you've wanted." Patch suggested.
"That might be nice, seeing as we're now a part of your world," Alice shrugged. "If only we had an author to keep track of our stories, especially from our world. I mean, who knows what might become of us in the future without you children looking out for us?"
"Good to know." Atticus said.
"Anyway, let's get home." Thor suggested.
"Run along now," Alice said. "I suppose we'll meet each other again in the future."
"Thank you, Alice," Thor beamed. "It's been fantabulous."
Cherry rolled her eyes a little while Lionel beamed as they left Looking Glass Headquarters.
"I guess we'll see them for another fairy tale adventure?" Mo commented.
"Yeah, I guess," Cherry shrugged. "Or we'll see them with The Justice League sometime... Sounds kinda interesting. I'd like to see Green Arrow and Red Riding Hood have an archery match against each other."
"Same here." Lionel said in agreement.
"Yeah, it would be interesting to see who would win." Patch added.
"I'm so happy that we'll get home and get some rest." Thor beamed.
"Same here." Mo replied.
"I guess call us again later if you have anything for us," Cherry said to Alice before shrugging. "Or to maybe just say hi."
"I'll call you. Don't call me, I'll call you, my people will call you." Alice replied as she stood between Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
"Uh... Right..." Cherry replied. "See ya around, Wonder Girl."
"You too... Baby Bat." Alice smirked.
"Watch it." Cherry warned about that nickname before she soon followed the rest of The Toon Force back home until their next adventure.
As they walked home, there seemed to be a cloud in the shape of a flying pirate ship in the sky. Patch glanced up to the sky as he wondered if he actually saw that or not, but decided not to say anything to the others as they went back home and so did The Avengers Grimm after reporting to Alice and Hatter about their adventure with Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Tigerlily.
