Summary:

“I deserve a raise for this”, Luz muttered as she carries the Blight to her room.

or
Luz found the Duke’s daughter in the garden with chocolate wrappers next to her and a book. Apparently those aren’t ordinary chocolates, it has alcohol content in it.

Work Text:

The youngest Blight woke up early to start off her daily routine, which is just reading and learning the ways on how to rule the kingdom and its history. It’s not that she wasn’t enjoying it- she does and she finds the history very interesting, except for the fact that she’s getting tired of her same routine every single day. If she wasn’t studying, she would be meeting heirs from neighboring kingdoms who’d try to win her heart. Unfortunately for them, the heiress is not interested with any of the men she met.

“Miss Blight?”, a voice called her from outside the room. Right on time, as usual, the Blight amuses.

“How many times do I have to tell you to drop the “miss”, Noceda” she says as she opens her door to let their butler in.

“And how many times do I have to explain to your royal-ass that the Duke or one of those suck up maids might hear me?”, Luz replied as she got in the Blight’s room.

“Whatever Noceda”, Amity rolls her eyes cause she knows that the Latina was right. They were never supposed to get this close with each other, unfortunately one could not keep their mouth shut.

“So what’s the schedule for today Blight? Meetings? Tea parties? Or just studying?” Luz asked while walking over to put down the tea on Amity’s table.

“Well, the usual, studying and recalling history event. Just your typical daily routine.”

“Or, you could sneak out” Luz said suggestively while wriggling her eyebrows with a smirk plastered on her face.

The Latina had no idea what that did to the poor Blight. Amity looks away hiding her red face. Just the thought of that smirking face was enough to make her look like a tomato. She was unfortunately aware of her feelings towards the butler, however she couldn’t say the same to their dense butler. As amazing as Luz can be, with her knowledge about the kingdom and some of her skills, she’s denser than a black hole. “You know I can’t do that, I— no, you will get in trouble if someone finds out. You are after all the one who’s guarding me as of the momen-“ Amity’s words were cut off by a knock from her door.

“Miss Blight, a letter from Lord Mattholomule”

Amity groans as she walks her way to her door and takes the letter, uttering a small thank you to the maid.

“Ergh. That douchebag again?”

“Apparently”, the Blight rolled her eyes while opening the letter.

“What does the prick want now? A calm and peaceful tea time with the Duke’s youngest lovely daughter?”

Amity couldn’t decide whether to glare at her butler or avoid her gaze while blushing because Luz just called her lovely. So she somehow did both by looking at the letter intently while blushing. Amity rolled her eyes after reading the letter, “Unfortunately, that might be it but he’s with his father, their Duke”

“Right, I still don’t know how he can still send letters like nothing happened the last time he went here.” Luz walked towards Amity while keeping her eyes on the heiress. She stopped a foot away from her and puts her hand on the heiress’s shoulder, “You know you can decline their offer, right?” Luz stared at her carefully as if she was the most fragile gem piece she’s ever seen.

Amity wanted that as much, but she knows how controlling her parents can be. She tried declining to an offer back then, and it didn’t end well. “You know damn well that I can’t, no matter how much I want to.” Amity smiled painfully then took her butler’s hand to get away from her gaze and walked to her table. “Besides, he said that they’re here for an apology, though I doubt that’s all that’s gonna happen.” She chuckled then went on to prepare for the event later.

“Amity, dear, so glad for you to finally join us in this fine evening.”

Great, there’s only one seat that’s available and it had to be near that prick.

Amity walks towards her seat and sits down as gracefully as possible with a forced smile on her face. As Amity sits down, she’s greeted with a smirk from him. She tried to calm herself from making any inappropriate scene that might lead to another long “talk” from her parents.

“Yes, lovely dear. So as I was saying..” Amity zoned out and just continued to eat her meal until-

“So where’s your butler now?”, Matt asked, obviously trying to provoke the young heiress.

Amity groaned “What the fuck do you want now? Aren’t you satisfied that you already got away with what happened last time?” she whispered as quietly as possible.

“C’mon Ames, you know that was an accident.” Matt smiled as he put his hand on top of her now clenched fists.

“Do. Not. Touch. Me.” The Blight gritted her teeth, hands shaking.

“Feisty aren’t we? Don’t think I notice how close you are getting with your butler, Amity.” Matt, seemingly doing it on purpose moved up his hands from the Blight’s hand, caressing as he move it slowly to Amity’s wrist.

Amity couldn’t handle it anymore, “That’s it! You-“ as Amity began to stand up, Luz just got to their spot to offer them tea when she accidentally poured it to Matt’s shoulder.

“whoops, I am so sorry” Luz said as she was about to wipe the stain but was caught off guard when Matt slapped her hand away from him.

“Don’t touch me! Look at what you’ve done!” Matt growled while looking sharply at the butler who had a small smile on her face.

“What’s going on?! Amity! What’s the meaning of this?!”

“My apologies your highness, it was my fault.” Luz said to his highness. However, her tone has no intentions of apologizing sincerely.

“That butler of yours spilled that tea all over me! This is why people like her have jobs like this! I-“

“Mattholomule, that is enough. Behave yourself.”

“But father, she-“

“None of that, we are done here. Let’s get going.”

“I am terribly sorry, this will not happen again. Please, we have things to-“ Amity’s father was cut off by the latter.

“Oh it will not happen again indeed for this is the last, but thank you for the time.” The Duke replied and got up to leave with his son. As the Duke left, the place has gotten quieter and could feel the tension.

“Father I-“

“Save it! Come with me. You. Noceda, I want this place clean when I come back before I send you to another kingdom.” The Duke said.

Luz slowly nods and went to get the supplies, stopping when she got close to Amity and uttering a sorry before moving forward.

“That was quite a show back there, you just made me loose a deal and a great opportunity for the kingdom! Do you have any idea how rare those deals are?”

“But Father, he was touching and provoking me! He ha-“

“Don’t raise your tone on me Amity! I want you to write a letter of apology for them while I try to make amends of what happened awhile ago.” The Duke stated, not leaving any room for argument as he walked out of the room leaving Amity alone.

Great, Amity thought as she walked to her father’s desk to notice that a paper and pen is already out, the only thing missing is her apology on that paper. As if she’d write an apology to that prick, but if she doesn’t do that, it will lead to another long “talk” from her parents. Amity sighs as she sits down and picked the pen up hovering over the paper. Amity, seemingly having an internal crisis kept on staring on the piece of paper in front of her. Thousands of thoughts racing through the Blight’s head and none of them was good. After what felt like half an hour of glaring at the paper, she finally settled the pen on the paper, she stops and lets go of it followed by a groan. “This isn’t gonna work.” The heiress glances around the room and back to her father’s desk till her eye lands on a jar that she hasn’t seen before. She reached out to grab the jar with a paper attached to it.

May your kingdom prosper and have a bright future. I offer this jar of chocolates-

The Blight didn’t bother reading the rest of the message and only focused on the treat that she had on her hand. Though the heiress isn’t quite fond of sweets herself, that night she felt like having a few hoping to boost her mood. As Amity opened the jar, she was met with a strong aroma of chocolate and something more, but she couldn’t name the latter. Slowly, as if eyeing a one of a kind food, she unwrapped one and ate the piece.

huh, its not.. bad?

The Blight thought as she took another one, clearly enjoying the taste of the treat. “Wow, who knew chocolate would be this delicious” She said smiling to herself. Amity looked at the jar, then back to the paper.

You know what? They want an apology letter, then I’ll give them one.

The heiress thought while smiling mischievously then began writing. As she continued writing, she kept on eating the chocolates every once in a while. One glance at her work made her grin and stood up feeling dizzy. She left the paper there and grabbed the jar then went out.

Amity stumbled across the hallway as she tried to remember where her room was, seemingly forgetting that her room was at the other building. She found herself in their garden, walking towards the little house that is located at the end of the garden. As she entered the house, memories started flooding, remembering the time she and the twins would play hide and seek here. She stopped at the little table and picked up the book sitting on top of it. Amity blew off the dirt and found that it was her favorite book when she was young, The Good Witch Azura.

Luz finished cleaning the mess and was on her way to the garden to return the supplies that she used. She was still pissed with what happened earlier. The butler didn’t know what got into her head when she spilled the tea to the young man’s shoulder. It was probably nothing, it’s normal to get pissed when a guy is touching your friend and making them uncomfortable right? Right. She closed the shed then continued walking until the Latina noticed a mane of green hair under the Blights family tree. The butler approaches the tree trying to see if her eyes aren’t playing tricks on her.

“Am-,” Luz quickly stopped herself as she remembered that they are outside. “Miss Blight?”

No response

The Latina quickly ran towards the heiress’s side when she saw her unconscious. “Amity. Amity wake up” Luz slowly nudges the girl to see if she would wake up. Suddenly, Luz noticed the wrappers near the heiress and picks it up. “Is this- chocolate?” said the Latina as she smelled the wrapper, “-and alcohol?!”

The butler looked at the unconscious girl beside her and slowly lifted her. “I deserve a raise for this”, Luz muttered as she carries the Blight to her room.

Luz walks slowly and carefully while looking around hoping that no one notices them. “Of all the days that you could’ve ate those alcohol flavored chocolate- it had to be today, when the Duke is mad at you. Of course. You don’t even like sweets.” The Latina spoke as if her companion was awake. They turned left and was nearing the Blight’s room when the heiress decided to wake up followed by a groan.

“Luz? Heyyy if it isn’t my favorite buttllerr.” The drunk girl spoke loudly while grinning at her butler.

“Amity shh, not now.” Luz whispered to the heiress’s ear while covering the latter’s mouth.

“Hello?” called out from the other end of the hallway.

The butler panicked and quickly found a cleaning closet near them and got inside along with the poor heiress. Maybe that wasn’t the best way to avoid things, the Latina thought as she was hovering over her drunkish companion which she just noticed that smelled like chocolates and a hint of alcohol.

“Well, never took you for a straight-forward person Noceda.” The Blight looked up and grinned at her butler.

The butler had no idea why she felt like her face was burning up but she knew that their closeness was not helping. “Will you shut it for a few seconds? I’ll get in trouble for this.” She said then moved her hand to cover the Blight’s mouth again before she got to utter another word. Luz was trying her hardest to focus on the noise outside to know if the maid went away, but her companion won’t let her as she tries squirming under the Latina’s hold. As if that wasn’t enough, the heiress bit the butler’s hand which made the butler move her hand away and griped the latter’s wrists.

“What the—Did you just bit me?” Luz looked down to the girl shockingly. The young Blight just looked up at her and smiled. Luz froze, noticing the space– which is probably non-existent as their noses are almost touching. The Latina thought that they couldn’t get any closer than this when the Blight proved her wrong by moving further.

“Amity” Luz whispered to the heiress.

“Yes?”

“I think we’re clear.”

“Wha-“

Luz opened the closet and dragged the girl out before even letting her finish her question. She carried the girl in a bridal way and picked up her pace while walking towards the Blight’s room.

The butler closed the room, sliding down to sit on the floor with her back on the door with the heiress still in her arms. Breathing heavily from all the running, she forgot that Amity was still there until the girl placed her hand on her face. Luz froze, second time that night.

“You’re amazing,” the girl spoke while looking intently at her butler. “but dense.” Followed by a chuckle that made the butler feel something weird inside her stomach.

“What do you mean Blight?” Luz asked, avoiding the heiress’s gaze.

“Oh Luz,” Amity moved towards her butler and stopped as their noses touched. “I hate you.” She said while smiling before closing the gap between them.
