Work Text:
Soobin and Yeonjun met in middle school. Soobin was gangly awkward pre-teen who had very few friends, was very shy, but was also very intelligent (much to his own dismay). Yeonjun was the hyper-active, outgoing, cool kid who had lots of friends and could dance. They seemed like night and day to each other. It’s always why many think that their teacher paired them together for a project. To get Soobin out of his shell, and Yeonjun to quieten down and get some proper work done.
Soobin, at first, did not want to work with him. He knew that the people around Yeonjun wouldn’t like him regardless, even if Yeonjun was the nicest kid in class. To them, he was “stealing him away” and had already heard the mutterings as soon as his name was mentioned with the other’s. He’s not getting out of it however, so he guesses that he just has to suck it up for now, get the project over and done with as fast as he could so he could disassociate with and go back to his quiet life.
Yeah, that didn’t happen.
The project was set on the Monday, Yeonjun was busy until Thursday, and told Soobin to write a rough plan of what they needed to include in final piece. So, Soobin did. Then, when Thursday came around, Yeonjun spent the WHOLE day with him, much to Soobin’s unfortunate pleasure. For the whole day Soobin was surrounded by chatting people who barely acknowledged his existence, and was only spoke to when they hadn’t done the work asked of them, and they needed answers (to which Soobin ignored them).
Then, at the end of the day, Yeonjun followed Soobin out of school to where Soobin’s mom was parked and got in.
“Hi Mrs Choi, I hope you don’t mind me coming over tonight, but me and Soobin have a project to work on. I have my mom’s phone number if driving me home is going to be an issue,” Yeonjun said politely.
“Oh, no, it should be okay, but thank you,” Mrs Choi says before turning to her son, “I didn’t know you had a friend coming over tonight. You should’ve said so we could something in for him!”.
“Honestly, it’s okay Mrs Choi. I’ll eat pretty much anything, so I don’t mind if it’s not something fancy, or bought especially for me coming over,” Yeonjun says, before Soobin could say anything.
“Even so, what would you like to eat tonight? I’m assuming you’ll stay for dinner?” Mrs Choi poses.
“Yeah, I can stay for dinner if that’s okay. And tonight. Hm. Maybe.... Pizza?” Yeonjun asks.
“Pizza? Yes. Sure. Is that okay with you Soobin?” Mrs Choi says.
“Yeah, that will be fine. Thank you,” Soobin says, silently happy that he’s getting pizza, but doesn’t say anything more.
When they got to Soobin’s house, Mrs Choi said to make their way up into Soobin’s room where they could start the project.
“So, this is where the genius Choi Soobin spends most of his time,” Yeonjun says as he enters Soobin’s room.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Soobin shrugs.
“I’m getting vibe that you’re not the biggest fan of me. Why’s that? Not that I’m trying to pry, but...” Yeonjun says as he sits in Soobin’s spiny chair.
“It’s not that I don’t like you, I do, but I don’t like the people that surround you. They’ll peak in late middle school, and early high school, then everyone will see through them because they’re only around because you’re popular. It seems like you’re popular, but don’t actually have many friends,” Soobin states as he starts getting the materials prepared.
“Wow. I hadn’t thought of that. I guess that’s true. They don’t even know when my birthday is—”
“13th of September”
“— so they... Wait, what? What did you say?” Yeonjun asks.
“I said 13th of September. It’s your birthday, right?” Soobin repeats.
“You. You know my birthday?” Yeonjun asks surprised.
“Yeah, I remember it. Is that really so surprising?” Soobin asks.
“YES! Sorry, yes. No one has ever remembered it outside of my family,” Yeonjun says, almost sadly.
“Oh,” Soobin says lightly, “I’m sorry.”
“What are you sorry for?” Yeonjun says quizzically.
“I don’t know. I just think that it’s kinda sad that you haven’t had a friend to remember your birthday. I remember people’s birthdays. I feel like it’s one of the few important things you should know. If I knew that no one had wished you a happy birthday, I would have. This year, I promise to, I’ll wish a happy birthday,” Soobin promises.
“You will? Thank you. I really want to get to know you now Soobin. I wanna get to know the boy behind the genius,” Yeonjun says, learning forward with his chin resting on his hands staring at a confused Soobin.
And that’s where their friendship began.
Over the next few years, Soobin and Yeonjun got closer and closer. Yeonjun made sure that his cling ons knew not to bother him and Soobin felt at ease. Their teachers quickly realised that they were better together, and Soobin’s no nonsense approach to classes help Yeonjun immensely. His grades were going up, his parents weren’t constantly being called about his lack of attention and participation, and his free time was truly free time. Soobin made a massively positive impact on Yeonjun’s behaviour in class, but Yeonjun really helped Soobin too.
Yeonjun was known to be a social butterfly. Soobin was the opposite. As soon as they started becoming friends, Soobin began to attract people, and people started to like him, and though he wasn’t able to see it, everyone saw the impact that being friends with Yeonjun made to his life. Soobin finally got to know what it meant to be popular, and slowly he was less and less against it. He just let himself get a little swept up in it. He knew that peaking in high school isn’t what he wanted, but whilst he was here, why not?!
Then, the awkward “discovery” period of a teenager’s life kicked it, and oh boy was it fun for the both of them. Soobin was suddenly made aware that people of the same sex are very fucking attractive. He didn’t understand the obsession of wanting to bed the people who he found attractive (unlike some of the people he knew), but he knew that he was most definitely not straight. As Soobin was figuring this out, Yeonjun watched from the side-lines.
Yeonjun knew he was bisexual when he was around 8. Boys were pretty and so were girls. The only difference now though is that he’s much more attracted to guys than girls. Boys are just... Addictive. Watching Soobin go through the same discovery was a wonderful experience. He had his first baby gay to guide, and he was so happy it was Soobin.
Looking back, Soobin feels dumb that he didn’t realise Yeonjun was attracted to guys too. Yeonjun never hid his attraction, and openly talked to Soobin at the guy he saw at the bus station, or the guy he saw at the gym, or the guy who was walking down the other side of the street. It was pretty obvious, but Mr. Dense™, Choi Soobin completely missed that, so on the fateful day that he brought up the courage to tell him that he was gay, he oddly wasn’t expecting the support his best friend gave him, unconditionally. He was so happy to have Yeonjun as his best friend. Literally no one made him happy cry as much as Yeonjun did. He loved that human more than anyone else could imagine.
Fast forward to the summer before their Junior year. Yeonjun, Soobin and their three other friends (Beomgyu, Taehyun and HeuningKai) were hanging out at their favourite spot on a field, under a tree, having a picnic. It was their favourite summer activity. (in reality, it’s Soobin’s favourite, it requires no movement).
“You know, you two would make a fantastic couple,” HeuningKai says as he takes a sip of his drink.
“Wha-” Soobin coughs out, choking on the food he was eating.
“Why are you surprised? If I didn’t know you, I’d think that you at least had feelings for one another, but at most, I’d think that you’d be a couple months into a new relationship,” Taehyun says, backing up the youngest.
The eldest two looked at each other with expressions that read, “what the fuck?”.
“Don’t act surprised! You’re always all over one another. I’ve thought you were going to kiss more than once, and sometimes several times a week. It’s weird that you haven’t noticed it. Literally everyone else has,” Taehyun says incredulously.
“Oh,” Soobin says.
“Oh? Yeah, oh. Please. I don’t know, but it seems like after today you two need to talk,” Taehyun laughs lightly.
“But I don’t have feelings for him?” Soobin says questioningly.
“The fact that sounded like a question suggests that there’s something you’ve either suppressed, or not even thought about. I’m not sure which, but it’s one of them,” Taehyun announces.
In all of this, Beomgyu has just been watching Taehyun. He’s in awe of the boy’s observational skills, and wasn’t as interested in the relationship between Yeonjun and Soobin as he was trying to figure out if Taehyun was interested in someone.
“Yeah, I have feelings for Soobin like the way you have feelings for Beomgyu,” Yeonjun adds, breaking his silence.
Taehyun immediately does quiet. Shit. Yeonjun picked the wrong person.
“Ah. I guess that’s... Yeah,” Taehyun says looking at Beomgyu as he said it making the boy’s heart skip a beat after he realised.
“Cool, so all of my friends like each other. Fair enough. That wasn’t my intention, but I guess you don’t always get was I asked for,” HeuningKai adds after a few beats of silence.
And then the conversation continued. Feelings now somewhat out in the open. Neither pair said anything more. It couldn’t go unspoken about however. So, they had the conversation 3 weeks later.
“Yeonjun, do you have feelings for me?” Soobin asks as Yeonjun was making a drink for him.
Yeonjun places the kettle down, before turning around and looking at Soobin directly.
“I do,” Yeonjun replies confidently, “do you reciprocate?”.
“I... I believe so. I think I do,” Soobin says, brining his eyes up to meet Yeonjun’s.
Yeonjun moves forward before getting onto his knees in front of Soobin.
“Be my boyfriend?” Yeonjun says.
“Yes,” Soobin replies as Yeonjun dives forward hugging his best friend turned boyfriend.
And now the two of them were at university. The two hadn’t intended to go to the same one, but the courses they wanted were only available at a select few, so here they were. 3 years into their relationship, still going strong and very much in love.
This weekend was a little different from the others though. Yeonjun finally got a weekend off, and Soobin made sure that he’d caught up with all of his projects in time to just relax with his boyfriend. It’s one of the first times they’ve had time to spend together since the end of high school. They missed each other. They’re planning on moving into a flat together after this year but for right now, they just have to live with the weird ass hand they were given.
Soobin arrived back at Yeonjun’s place at around 9am, and had brunch. Soobin hadn’t eaten since 5pm the previous day, and was very, very hungry. Luckily, he had the best boyfriend ever who was willing to make him some food.
After Soobin had eaten, he placed his plate down, and snuggled up to Yeonjun as he pressed play on the last couple of episodes that they were watching the last time Soobin spent time over. Soobin got really invested in the story line, and was really interested in what was going to happen. He loved series like this.
When the last episode finished, Soobin was mess. He wasn’t expecting it to end the way it did.
“She deserved better, that’s all I’m going to say,” Soobin says, sitting up.
“Couldn’t agree more,” Yeonjun replied.
Now they were staring at each other, and both knew exactly what was going to happen. The only thing they didn’t know was who going to start it.
Turns out, it was both of them. They saw the other start leaning in, and met the other’s lips halfway. Yeonjun’s lips always tasted sweet, and it was Soobin’s favourite part about kissing him. He never got tired of the sweetness, and genuinely found it very additive.
Yeonjun pressed his lips harder onto Soobin’s. Bringing his hand to Soobin’s face and the other to the boy’s waist, pulling him closer.
Soobin opened his mouth, and invited in Yeonjun’s tongue. The fight for dominance began. Yeonjun licking into Soobin’s mouth before pushing him onto the sofa behind him. Climbing over his and grabbing Soobin’s hands, placing them above his head as their tongues continued to dance together. Yeonjun could feel himself getting really into this, and thought that it was the perfect time to make his move.
Yeonjun rolled his hips against the boy beneath him, causing both of them to gasp in each other’s mouths as a wave of pleasure washed over them. Yeonjun was screwed, Soobin’s noises were just as addictive as his lips. He needed go draw more out him. And he did so by kissing and nipping at the boy’s neck whilst experimentally rolling his hips down. Soobin responded to this by freeing his arms and then putting them around Yeonjun’s head, and bringing him closer, and kissing him harder.
Allowing his hand to follow the shape of Soobin’s torso, Yeonjun put a hand under his shirt, and began rubbing circles into the boy’s hips. He could feel himself getting harder. He needed to make his move now, or he’d come in his pants like a hormonal teenager.
So moved his other hand to the hem of the boy’s shirt, and started to lift it off the boy. Soobin responded by siting up, and making it easier to take his shirt off. Yeonjun now focused his attention on kissing his way down Soobin’s torso, and seeing the boy writhe beneath him was enough to convince him that he and Soobin were on the same wave length. He made his way up to kiss his mouth again, before reaching one of his hands down to the band of Soobin’s trousers. Sliding his hand along the band until he found the button. Undoing the fly, and unbuttoning the trousers—
“Yeonjun, wait,” Soobin says as he puts his hands on his boyfriend’s chest, “what are you doing?”.
“I just thought that, today, we could, y’know, go all the way,” the other admits.
“Oh,” Soobin says in response.
“Oh? What does that mean?”.
“I just didn’t realise you wanted to do that, much less today,” Soobin says.
“What did you think I meant when I said I wanted to spend the weekend with you?” Yeonjun asks confused.
“I don’t know. I thought that we might just snuggle on the sofa and watch a new drama, or film, or do some baking. I’m totally okay with kissing you, but I just didn’t realise that you wanted to have sex,” Soobin says.
“Oh,” Yeonjun says, “does that mean you don’t want to have sex today, or?”.
“I don’t know. I really don’t. I enjoy kissing you. Making out with you. Fuck. That feels amazing. I love it. I just... don’t feel the need to take it any further. I guess I’m just not interested in having sex right now,” Soobin reveals, saying the things he’s been thinking for years out loud for the first time, and feeling weigh lift from his chest.
“Right. Okay. We’ll stop here today then. I don’t mind,” Yeonjun says as he gets off of his boyfriend, “if you don’t mind, can I ask you a couple questions?”.
“What kind of questions?” Soobin says, slightly worried.
“Is sex important to you, or do you find other things more important?” Yeonjun asks.
“Honestly, I’d rather go on a hike, or bake, or travel, or learn a new language, than have sex. I’m still interested in sex, and I am willing to have sex with you, but please understand that I will not want it often. I am interested in trying different things in bed, but also understand that I’m very likely to leave you blue-balled, as I go to sleep after a make-out session,” Soobin reveals, now realising that voicing these things make him feels very, very vulnerable and it’s almost overwhelming.
“Okay. So, sex is on the table, but for ever 10 times I want to have sex you’re somewhere between 1 and about...?” Yeonjun asks.
“Depends, but usually about 2 to 6. Some months I’ll want to be more active, and some months we might not have sex at all. My asexuality is to the point that if I was straight, or planned on marrying who can conceive, I’d be willing to have sex for the purpose of having children, but I’d still not be very interested in sex before or after,” Soobin explains further.
“Ah, okay. That makes sense,” Yeonjun nods.
After a couple minutes, Yeonjun turns to his boyfriend.
“You know that this doesn’t, and won’t change how I feel about you. I’m so, so thankful that you told me, and I didn’t over step your boundaries. Thank you for letting me know. I know revealing things about yourself isn’t easy, and even you coming out as gay took so much courage, so this must’ve taken so much courage to tell me too. I honestly am so proud of you. Thank you so much for telling me. Oh Binnie, I love you so much,” Yeonjun says, searching his boyfriend’s eyes to make sure the other knew how serious he was.
And that was it. Yeonjun’s acceptance of his asexuality spectrum self was enough to open the flood gates, and once he’d started it took a lot for him to stop. He’d kept this to himself for so long because it didn’t matter that he didn’t want sex because he wasn’t really interested in any before, and was sure that the only person he had feelings for wouldn’t like him because there’s more attractive allosexuals for him to be with and would want to have sex with him. But no, here was that person, who has been by his side for so many years being the most supportive person in the world.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Yeonjun says, pulling his crying boy into his arms, and kissing the crown of his head as he tried to calm him down, “I love you so much. You’ll always be my Binnie. It’s going to be okay”.
>>> <<<
It had been a few months, and it was August. Yeonjun had been incredibly respectful of Soobin’s boundaries, and was super gentle for the couple times they had sex. It wasn’t a common occurrence, so when they do, Yeonjun makes sure to not make a fuss, and treat the boy of his dreams with the respect and not push him too far to the point he was uncomfortable. This caused Soobin to fall even deeper in love with his boyfriend. He had never met someone like this, and if something was to happen to him, he wouldn’t ever want to date anybody else. They could never live up to the standards that this man was serving.
They were due to go to party for Yeonjun’s best friend Changbin’s birthday on the 10th the month (the day before, because he was going to his parent’s for his birthday on the 12th but wanted to celebrate with his friends first). It was going to be a small affair of around 15 or so people, with Changbin’s friend group, Soobin and Yeonjun’s group and a couple others that Changbin and Yeonjun knew through classes. Soobin was looking forward to it.
The party started at 6pm, and by 9pm everyone was either drunk, or very much on their way to. A lot of Changbin’s friends has formed a circle for a game of truth or dare (I know, how original for a 21st birthday party), and Soobin was asked to join when he had returned from the kitchen. He accepted, mostly because Yeonjun was already sat down, and he could just sit beside him and hope that he doesn’t get picked.
The first rounds were pretty tame, but then Hyunjin (who was acting much more drunk than he was, and Soobin knows it. Hyunjin had been giving his drinks to Seungmin all night without him realising, so it was safe to say, Seungmin was kind of out of it), said, “y’know, this is pretty boring. We’re all adults here, why don’t we start asking/doing more risqué things?”.
Everyone looked around at one another, before murmuring agreements.
“Cool, I’ll go first. Hm...” Hyunjin states before looking sprung to pick his victim, “Chan. Truth or dare?”
Chan looked up wild-eyed, before saying, “truth.”.
“Ugh, you’re no fun. Lemme think. Have you ever had sex with anyone in this room?” Hyunjin connivingly asks.
Chan looks down.
“He has, hasn’t he?” Soobin thought.
“I have. I have slept with someone in this room,” Chan confirmed.
“Who? Either tell us, or down your drink!” Hyunjin says.
Soobin was impressed, but low-key terrified of Hyunjin ability to get his friends to spill this sort of information.
Chan downed his drink, and left the room.
“Yup, thought so. Lix, I think you should go talk to him,” Han says, much to everyone’s confusion.
Felix then also left the room.
“So, who’s next?” Sungho asked, somehow missing the vibe the pair’s departure had had, but the group was thankful for.
The game continued, and Soobin luckily wasn’t really involved. He was asked, he said truth, and was asked what his most embarrassing moment was. He was okay sharing that.
“Yeonjun, truth or dare,” Taehyun asks.
“Brat. Truth,” Yeonjun says.
“Oo. When did you lose your virginity?” Taehyun asks, even though he already knows the answer (not because it was him, no, but because Kai had asked randomly just before Yeonjun got together with Soobin).
“I think I was about 13 or 14. It was someone really random. Don’t remember their name, just remember I was about 13 or 14,” Yeonjun admits.
“13?! You started young,” Jeongin laughs.
“Why, you still a virgin Innie?” Lee Know asks.
“Pfft, no. I just wasn’t that young,” Jeongin retorts.
“How old?” Lee Know presses.
“Ask me when it’s your turn, buddy,” Jeongin says, before taking a sip of his drink and turning back to the circle.
Nothing more eventful happens for another half an hour or so, until:
“Yeonjun, truth or dare?” Dongha asks.
“Truth,” Yeonjun says as he reaches for Soobin’s hand.
Dongha seemed to notice this, and it made Soobin somewhat nervous.
“What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done in bed with your boyfriend?” he asks, smiling.
“Get 15 hours of sleep,” Yeonjun laughs.
“That’s not what I meant, and you know it,” Dongha says.
“Yeah, I did get what you mean, but I’m not telling you what Soobin and I do in the bedroom,” Yeonjun states.
“I reckon you’re proper vanilla,” Dongha says.
“So what if they are? What are trying to get out of them?” Changbin asks, trying to protect his friends.
“Nothing, but apparently, according to my friend who lives next door to them, they barely fuck. Fucking weird if you ask me. Does he not satisfy you enough Soobin? Not worth the effort of being turned on?” Dongha says.
“Literally shut the fuck up,” Changbin says.
“Oh, so it’s true! You don’t fuck. Knew you were weird,” Dongha laughs.
“It’s not weird. At all. Some people just aren’t into it. Besides, why the fuck is your friend listening to their neighbours having sex? What, is he gay now? Knew his homophobic ass was secretly gay,” Changbin says, clearly very uncomfortable with his ‘friend’s’ behaviour.
“Why are you standing up for them? One of them is fucking broken. It’s bad enough that they’re fags, but knowing that one is broken as well. Funniest shit I’ve ever seen in my life. Like please, you could not make this shit up,” Dongha laughs again.
Chan suddenly returns into the room. He’d been missing for over an hour at this point, but it looks like he’d had some time to sober up, but he was clearly enraged. Where had he been witnessing this?
Grabbing Dongha by his shirt, Chan demanded that he, “GET THE FUCK OUT, BEFORE YOU FUCKING REGRET TREATING MY FRIENDS LIKE DIRT!”.
“Go burn in hell you disgusting, sick, abominations,” Dongha shouts as Minho and Chan were dragging him out the house.
Everyone was silent.
Soobin and Yeonjun were sat on opposite sides of the room as they were the direct line of the verbal berating, and where Minho and Chan had dragged him out of the houses. Yeonjun was hurt. He was very comfortable in his sexuality, and was extremely lucky to face very little interaction with homophobes, but he knew that it wasn’t just him that was hurt. He called Soobin BROKEN. Soobin is not broken. Soobin not wanting to have sex isn’t an issue. Not for him. Why does it matter?
Once Yeonjun stopped his train of thought to look around, he realised that the room was still silent, and that Changbin was sat back where he was, cup being held by the tips of his fingers, and he was staring at the floor. That fucker ruined his best friend’s birthday, and called his boyfriend broken. Yeonjun better not have to deal with his ass again, or it’s getting beat.
Yeonjun walked over to where Soobin was, wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s waist possessively, and kissed his nape in an attempt to comfort him.
“Baby, you’re not broken. You’re not. Your perfect. You’re so, so perfect. I couldn’t care less about your lack of interest in sex, or anything like that. You don’t have to make it up to anyone. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. I love you. I love you so much. You’re so beautiful. You’re perfect. So, so, so beautiful and perfect,” Yeonjun says quietly enough for only Soobin to hear. He doesn’t know if its soothing or not, but he just doesn’t know what else to do.
“I know,” Soobin says quietly.
“Good. I promise to make it up to you,” Yeonjun states as he pulls his boyfriend a bit closer, “I’m going to talk to Changbin now. I want to make sure he’s okay too. Is that okay?”.
Soobin nods, and Yeonjun pats Changbin on the shoulder and makes a motion to mean, “follow me”.
They stand outside the back door, and it’s a couple of minutes before any of them start talking.
“Thank you for standing up for Soobin and I. It means a lot. I’m just sorry that it ruined your birthday. Today was supposed to be your day, but it was ruined by that dick,” Yeonjun says not looking at the other because though it wasn’t his fault, he felt responsible.
“It’s totally fine. I don’t need to know the specifics of your relationship, because it really doesn’t matter how your relationship operate as long as you’re both happy, and you both look happy. Soobin seems so comfortable with you. And you seem... content. No relationship has ever made you as happy as your relationship with Soobin has. I had to stand up for my best friend and his relationship!” Changbin says, looking at Yeonjun, trying to convey his sincerity.
“Thank you Bin. You’re such a treasured friend. And in reality, I just hope that Soobin will still be comfortable after this. Being called broken and the f slur in one night won’t be doing great things, but I hope that we can all convince him that he’s totally normal, because he is,” Yeonjun says in an almost sigh. He’s frustrated, and sad for his boyfriend right now, and has no idea what he can do to help him heal from it.
“We’ll try and support him as much as we can. We promise. He doesn’t have to get specific, but I just want him to know that we’re all here for him. A lot of those slurs hurt my group too. I fucking hate them. They make my skin crawl. I just hope we can all heal from this and move on, and forget that fake fuck ever existed,” Changbin says before looking at the nigh sky that was still the slightest bit light in the mid-August night.
“We should head back in and check in on everyone,” Yeonjun says after a couple of beats of silence.
“Yeah, probably,” Changbin says.
They 2 head back inside, and everyone seems to be back in the room.
Yeonjun goes and sits beside Soobin, and wraps him up in a half hug. The vibe is definitely down, and everyone can feel it.
“Hey, um, I just want to talk about something,” Soobin says, waiting for people to pay attention before continuing, “for as much as Dongha was a dick, he wasn’t wrong. Not his use of the f slur or his insinuation that I’m broken (which isn’t true). I am on the asexual spectrum. I have a lower amount of sexual attraction than your average person (who are called allosexuals). Do I still have sex? Yes. Do I still engage in conversations regarding sex, and other sexual things? Yes. However, I do not have sex often. I would rather not, actually. Since I told Yeonjun, he has been amazing. I just wanted to tell you all. It might not be that important, but I just wanted you all to be aware. And besides, there’s not enough awareness about people on the asexual spectrum,” Soobin explains.
“Oh, that’s fine. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone on the asexual spectrum. Is it okay if I ask a question?” Chan asks.
“Yeah, sure,” Soobin says.
“So is sex in the relationship not important to you?”
“Yeah, it’s not important to me. If I’m in the mood to have sex, then I can and will, but I just don’t want it most of the time. I would much rather do other things,” Soobin explains.
“Ah, okay. That makes sense,” Chan rationalises.
“I have a question,” Jeongin says.
“Ask away,” Soobin smiles.
“Is it a conscious thought of not wanting sex, or?” Jeongin poses, unsure if his wording was okay.
“It’s definitely not a conscious thing. I’m not entirely sure how to explain it, I guess. I just don’t always want it. If I wasn’t in a relationship, I don’t even think I’d have had sex. It’s sort of like a food you enjoy, but you don’t have it often? I have literally no idea how to explain this. It’s the first time I’ve been open about this to anyone but Yeonjun, so this is all new. Sorry I don’t actually answer your question,” Soobin says, realising that he has no idea how to explain this.
The conversation about Soobin’s asexuality continues for a good half an hour or more, and Soobin’s heart was just filled with joy. Both his friends, and his boyfriend’s friends were really supportive. It was pretty nice to be able to talk about all of the specifics of his identity people never knew, and though it felt really vulnerable exposing things about himself this way, he also knew that them meeting him could maybe help them help another ace person in the future. Soobin was happy to be the source of information.
