Answer Me

Summary:

"Where are you from?" I don't know.
"Where are your parents?" I don't know.
"Are you alright?" I don't know.

Questions are useless to ask to someone who doesn't know the answer. And Y/N certainly doesn't.

"Do you love him, Y/N?" Yes.

[or the one where you have no memory of your past, live alone and work on an illegal job to sustain yourself and Bakugou decides to not leave you alone until he finds out everything about you (because he thinks you're suspicious)]

Notes:

oh hi! english is not my first language so I apologize for any mistakes!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

"Fumihiro Eito. 38 years old. Just bring him to me."

You learned to not ask questions. Questions were unnecessary, pointless and you didn't need answers anyway. You needed money and they paid well.

"Who are you?" You rolled your eyes to the question.

Why is everyone always so curious?

"I'm sorry, sir. I'm afraid I can't answer that," a knife appeared on your hand out of nowhere and you played with it while slowly approaching the man whose eyes were wide open.

He took some steps back, reaching the wall behind him in an instant. "What are you doing? Who are you? Is this because of the money I owe?"

You sighed. More questions...

"I'm sorry, okay? I'll pay! Just give me a couple of days and I swear I'll pay!"

You put the knife away as you realized the man was in no condition to fight, let alone throw the first punch, too frightened by the invisible power he could feel coming from you.

I'm not going to kill you so stop whining, you saw the scared tears coming down his cheeks as a small tranquilizer gun showed up on your right hand. The male kept begging, your arm going up to point the gun directly at his arm, ready to pull the trigger when a grey scarf wrapped itself around your wrist.

You turned to look at the person who was stopping you from doing your job and watched as the man waved his hand to the one in front of you, as if to tell him to take his leave. His black eyes never once left your figure, you could the 1010 questions that were most likely filling his head at that moment, but you didn’t have time to wait for him to ask them out loud. Your target was running away, and you had to catch him today, you had to get a hold of the money they would give you for his capture today.

Without wasting any more time, you passed the tranquilizer gun to your free hand, your mind and body knew exactly where you had to shoot so all you had to do was pull the trigger. But apparently not even that you were able to do as a foot hit the back of your hand, making the gun fall to the floor. You made a little sound of frustration, knowing well what was about to come, and realizing your predictions were right when a fist found its way to your face.

You dodged at the last second, feeling that your wrist had been released from the scarf. You smirked to yourself, your hand closing up and hitting the man right in the middle of his face. He stumbled back a little, you could feel that he wasn’t fighting with all he had, that his head was not focused on the fight and stopping you and more focused on “why would such a young girl be doing this?”

That annoyed the living hell out of you.

But time wasn’t something you had and were willing to waste, so you activated the tracker in your mind, repeating to yourself the only things you needed to know the exact location of the person you were looking for, their name and age. Fumihiro Eito. 38 years old.

You started running in the direction he had gone but once again a scarf stopped you from doing anything as it trapped you in place wrapping itself around you. An infuriate grunt left your mouth at that. You were really starting to hate scarfs.

The man positioned himself in front of you, slowly cleaning the blood coming out of his nose due to your punch, and you noticed his black eyes had turned red. Without any other thought, you tried making a new gun with your hand, but something was wrong. Nothing was forming on your hand as it was supposed to. It was as if…

As if the quirk had completely vanished.

You tried shaking your hand, like that was going to make it come back. Your eyes were wide, looking at it. But you didn’t dare to ask a question, you didn’t dare to even think about a question. All you had to know is that the quirk wasn’t there.

“That’s not going to work,” the man finally spoke. “You’re not going to be able to make any new gun as long as my eyes are open and focused on you.”

You just looked at him, face completely emotionless, head going at 100 km/s while forming a new plan.

All I have to do is wait for the millisecond his eyes close. During that time, I’m perfectly capable of creating a new gun. My hand is already at his legs size so I’ll just have to shoot. He’ll be out sleeping the second after and then I can finally do what I came here to do.

“I should take you to the police station. Have you arrested for trying to murder someone,” A small chuckle came out of your lips.

“I didn’t try to murder anyone, that was a tranquilizer gun.” You spoke for the first time.

“Have you arrested for trying to assault someone. Attacking a pro-hero. Using your quirk with no license.”

You rolled your eyes to the things he was listing. He didn’t have to tell you any of that, you knew what you did. But it’s not like you wanted to do it. It’s not like you had woken up that day and decided to go break the law because you were bored.

“Well, then go on. Have me arrested.”

The man whose name you didn’t know yet just stared at you. Red eyes glowing, and it was irritating you how much time he could go without blinking. “No.”

You raised one eyebrow at his reply.

“You’re skilled. I saw the way you moved. Not a lot of people can dodge from a punch after getting their weapon kicked out of their hand and throw a fist right after that. You did a big mistake though, not even bothering to check if your opponent had actually been taken down and wouldn’t purse after you. You were way too focus on your goal, which, by your movements, makes me believe is not hurting the man. ‘Is this because of the money I owe?’ he asked that, so my conclusion is that you’re working for someone and getting something you desperately need out of it.”

Not one sound could be heard when he stopped speaking, or at least you couldn’t hear anything else besides the loud beating of your heart. He didn’t seem like a man of a lot of words, his appearance looked tired and if he hadn’t said he was a pro-hero you would’ve confused him with a homeless person. But he was speaking like a teacher who was helping their student practice and was his duty to point out their flaws, saying everything they let transparent to the opponent, things they shouldn’t do when out on the real world.

And for just a millisecond, your body and mind seemed to try make that your reality.

And that millisecond made you lose your chance to escape, as the man blinked the quirk back into your body and erased it again the moment after. You clenched your jaw at that.

“You think you know it all…” Your voice was low but firm.

“Was I wrong?”

You just wanted to leave. Maybe it would’ve been better if he just turned you in to the police. This conversation seemed to be tiring you more than all the fights you’ve ever had up to that day.

“Who are you? Who do you work for?” And of course, the questions had to be asked.

He didn’t get an answer from you, didn’t really expect it.

“My eyes are starting to burn, are you going to try to escape when I close them again?”

A smirk appeared on your lips, your eyebrow going up once again and the smuggest expression was formed on your face. “There’s only one way to find out.”

The scarf tightened itself around you, making you close your eyes due to the pain it caused in your ribs. You knew you had lost you chance once again the moment you opened them and saw the man smirk. He’s good.

“How old are you? Fifteen? Sixteen?” No response. “Where are your parents?”

That made a shiver go down your spine. That was great question that your brain decided to not ask itself. Maybe it knew the consequences of the answer. Maybe it actually didn’t know where they were… Or who they were.

I don’t know.

“Where are you from?”

I don’t know.

Moments passed by in silence. You still haven’t figure out what the man wanted from you, if he was going to do anything to you. The hope that he would take you to the nearest police station started to fade away as more seconds passed with his scarf wrapped around you. But the hope that he would simply let you go had already disappear completely.

“U.A. High School, I’m sure you heard of it already,” your eyebrow went up again wondering why he was bringing that up. “A new school year is about to start in 2 months. I would like to have you there and train you to be a hero.”

You started to shake with the words that filled the air and suddenly your lips parted to let a laugh come out, so loud that the people walking on the main street probably heard it. You took a moment to calm down from the biggest joke anyone had probably ever said to you, and still shaking you finally replied,

“Yeah… That would be a no. Thank you, though.” A small smile appeared on your face. “Is that all? Can I go now? I have business to attend to.”

“You have great skills to waste them like this,” It’s not wasting if it gives you money to survive. “Just go make the admission exam, you’ll get in for sure, and who knows. Maybe you’ll enjoy it there.”

You just stared at him and frowned as you slowly felt the scarf loosening up around you. You looked down to see it go back to his owner’s neck and realized the red eyes had turned black again.

What the hell is happening?

“I don’t want to be a hero.”

“Everyone wants to be a hero, whether they admit that or not. Just most of them don’t have the courage to pursue that and hide behind the lie that they don’t want to be a hero, because that’s easier. And if there’s something being a hero isn’t, is easy.” Another gun was already on your hand the moment the man stopped talking, not putting your guard down even if your brain was more confused than ever as to why he seemed to be letting you go.

His eyes went down to your hand and the corner of his lips went up slightly in a small smile as if he had been expecting to see that. That sent a shiver down your spine and you slowly took a step back, positioning the gun better in your palm when his eyes found your face once again.

“When you go take the exam, tell them to inform Mr. Aizawa that you’re there.” Your frown intensified, you hated how sure he sounded. “Can I know your name now?”

You wondered for a moment if it would be a good idea to give away your name. It’s not like you would ever see the man again, it’s not like he could do anything with just your name, it’s not like him knowing your name would affect in anything, it’s not like your name was something important.

So you answered the question.

“Y/N. Y/N L/N.”
