A Magical Picnic

Summary:

Luka takes Marinette on a picnic.

Notes:

This story is for the discord server for The Writer Place Valentine bash. I chose to write for Sushi #0666. Sorry for the late post. I do hope you enjoy the story.

Work Text:

Luka waited for Marinette at the bakery. There were going to go on a date, and it was going to be a suitable date. They would not have to spend any money, which would be great.

Marinette came into the bakery out of breath, and she looked at Luka.

"Sorry, I am late. I had to go back to school to get my bookbag," Marinette lied.

"No problem, I just got here. Do you need a minute to get ready for our date?" Luka asked her.

"Yes, just let me run upstairs and change, and I will be right back down and ready to go," Marinette said as she headed upstairs.

It was great that she laid out her outfit for the date last night. Marinette changed and let her hair down. Luka had let her know he did like her hair down so that she would wear her hair down for the date. When she was ready, she headed downstairs.

"You're beautiful," Luka said as he watched her.

Marinette's cheek got some warmth in them.

"Thanks, let go,"

Luka took her hand, and they walked out the door. They got on his bicycle and head to the river where they were going to have their date. It took them a few minutes to get there. While he was riding, Marinette had her arms around his waist. Luka had a smile on his face the whole ride.

Luka helped Marinette off his bicycle when they got there, and then he got everything set up. Marinette just watched as he got the blanket lay down on the ground; he moved what was in the basket onto the blanket. Once everything was ready, Luka looked at her.

"Please have a seat. Luka said as he held out his hand to help her take a seat. Marinette smiled at him as she took his hand and sat down.

Luka sat next to her.

"Luka, this is lovely. Thank you for this."

"You're welcome."

Luka and Marinette sat and ate their food. The thing was, both Luka and Marinette enjoyed each other company even if they were not talking at all. Both knew how each other felt about the other.

Luka reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring; it wasn't an engagement ring. They were still young, and to give her an engagement ring so young would not be the right move at this particular time. Luka did the next best thing; he bought an engagement ring.

Marinette looked over at Luka to see him holding a ring.

"Luka, is that what I think that is?" Marinette asked as her eyes widen a bit.

"Marinette, this is not an engagement ring, but it the next best thing. It's a promise ring. It means that I promise you I will marry you when we are both ready to be married. I know we both are young and have our whole life ahead of us, so I will not ask you to marry me right now. Still, I will promise you I will ask you to be my wife when we are older. Only if you agree and have the same feeling which I have about you."

Marinette looked at him.

"Yes, I will," Marinette replied as Luka slid the ring onto her ring finger.

It was then Luka, and Marinette leaned in and kissed.

Five Years Later

"Marinette, you look wonderful," Alya said.

"Thanks, Alya. I am happy you are here. Are you sure that you are okay to be here?"

"Girl, I still have two weeks before this one comes," Alya said as she placed a hand on her very pregnant stomach.

Marinette smiled at her. The five years were interested. Of course, Luka had gone on tour. He had to deal with being away from Marinette for an extended period. Marinette had to deal with his absence. Marinette, on the other hand, had gotten the position of head designer at Gabriel Fashion. Adrien, who she had a crush on, owned the company when his father passed away. She did wonder if Adrien and Juleka were going to make it to the wedding. Adrien and Juleka were now dating. They were happy together. Who knows, maybe Juleka would be a sister-in-law twice? Marinette was happy. It was her day, and she was going to enjoy every minute of it.

"Okay, if you say so, Alya, so how are you and Nino getting along?" Marinette's curious voice asked.

"We are getting on simply fine. Our parents are going to babysit after the baby is born, and I get the little one-off breast milk," Alya told her.

"That's great, so where are you guys planning to go on your honeymoon?"

"I was thinking maybe Niagara Falls," Alya said

"Going to the United States of America, that should be fun. Don't forget to bring back some souvenirs for me, please." Marinette said.

Alya looked over at her and nodded her head in reply.

"Luka is a lucky man," Alya said.

"Don't I know it. I am a fortunate lady as well." Marinette assured her.

Alya helped her finished getting ready. It was a moment in time where everything was working out just fine. So far there was no problem which arises at the wedding. There were a could of hiccups before the official wedding date, but Alya, the maid of honor, could deal with it with the best man, Nino's help. It was a good thing they checked everything to make sure everything ran smoothly for the wedding. There had been a mix-up with the cake, but it got to straighten out before the big day. Alya was thankful that she had been able to keep Marinette from stressing out for her big day. Alya was there to help Marinette relax and not have to worry about anything except getting married. Alya was proud of herself for giving Marinette her day.

The wedding March started to play. It was their cue. Alya looked at Marinette to make sure everything was in its place, which it was. Alya gave her the thumbs up.

Marinette smiled at her. Then they proceeded to the main event. Marinette had a smile on her face, and she headed towards the door so she could walk down the aisle with her father by her side.
