Work Text:
Manon fought the urge to throw up. She'd felt rather sick all morning and had put it down to nerves, after all, how many times did you marry the love of your life? Her stomach forced up her lunch as she dashed towards the toilet, despite her joy, she was rather nervous about today too. She wanted everything to go perfectly, but knowing her track record the day would get screwed up somehow. It was just her luck.
She threw herself over the toilet just in time, as her stomach emptied the proof of her lunch from her body. Perhaps eating a few hours before her wedding was a bad decision. Perhaps.
Yrene rushed to Manon's side, "Are you alright?"
She brushed her friend off, "Of course I'm alright. What issues could I possibly have?"
Yrene rolled her eyes, Manon was always rather stubborn, but this was stupid. She'd just thrown right before her wedding and everything was fine? Yrene didn't think so. "Perhaps it has something to do with your upcoming wedding?" She asked carefully, not wanting to offend the witch.
"No, it does not," Manon responded with certainty, "I am positive that it has nothing to do with my wedding."
"Then you wouldn't mind me checking what the issue is?" Yrene dared to ask, wanting to look after her friend.
Manon did not want Yrene to check, with the fear that the Healer might have been correct that it was nerves from her wedding. But she wasn't about to admit that, it would make her look soft." Go ahead."
Yrene raised her hands towards Manon, and allowed her magic to flow through her body, she picked up on the issue straight away. "You are perfectly healthy bu-"
"Then that's the end of this conversation," Manon said finally, "after all, I've got to be heading down now, the others went down half an hour ago."
Yrene sighed, frustrated that her friend wouldn't let her finish her diagnosis. "Let's go then," she said defeated, there was no way she could win this battle on Manon's wedding day. Not a chance.
Twenty minutes later Manon had the bigger smile on her face than she could have ever imagined anyone with. Even Elide, and that spoke volume. She smiled at Dorian, her future husband as she walked up the wedding aisle.
When she reached the top, and faced Dorian, she held her hands out towards his, while the priest started speaking.
"Dear friends and family, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the union of his royal majesty King Dorian Havilliard of Adarlan and her royal majesty Queen Manon Blackbeak Crochan of The Witch Kingdom in marriage. In the years they have been together, their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured, and now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife.
"True marriage is more than simply joining two persons together through the bonds of matrimony. It is also the union of two hearts and the blending of two families. It lives on the love you give each other and never grows old, but also thrives on the joy of each new day. Marriage is, and should be, an expression of love. May you always be able to talk things over, to confide in each other, to laugh with each other, to enjoy life together, and to also share those moments of quiet and peace, when the day is done. May you be blessed with a lifetime of happiness and a home of warmth and understanding.
"Love should have no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if your love and needs must have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love and the compassion that love brings. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy; To return home at eventide with gratitude and loving embrace; Then to sleep with a vision of the beloved in your heart and a song of love in your dreams.
"May you always need one another; not to fill an emptiness, but to help each other know your fullness. May you want one another; not out of lack, but to feel the warmth of their touch. May you embrace one another; not to encircle one another, but to give comfort. May you succeed in all important ways with each other, and not fail in the little graces. May you have happiness, and may you find it in making one another happy. May you have love, and always find love, in the pursuit of loving one another."
The priest turned towards Dorian. "Do you Dorian Havilliard, take Manon Blackbeak Crochan, to be your partner in life and to share a path of life with; equal in love, embraced as a mirror for your true self, promising to honor and cherish her, through good times and bad, until death do you part?"
Dorian nodded with a smile permanently on his face,"I do."
The priest then turned towards Manon when he had finished with Dorian. "Do you Manon Blackbeak Crochan, take Dorian Havilliard, to be your partner in life and to share a path of life with; equal in love, embraced as a mirror for your true self, promising to honor and cherish him, through good times and bad, until death do you part?"
With her joy clearly showing through her words, Manon nodded quickly, "I do."
Elide stepped forward with their rings, and the priest, as if to tell them to put them on. Manin had chosen Elide to be their ring bearer. Not because she didn't mean as much to her as she once had, but because she meant so much to both of them.
"With this ring, I wed thee," both Manon and Dorian said happily as they slid rings onto the partners hands.
The priest had a tiny smile on his, as if Manon's and Dorian's happiness was radiating onto him. "And now, by the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Dorian leaned down to kiss his newlywed wife, with a huge smile on his face. He couldn't believe that he'd actually done it, he couldn't believe that he'd actually married his witchling. He kissed her and after they'd shown off for all of their two kingdoms to see, he said," I love you Witchling."
Manon laughed gently, "I love you too Princeling."
Sadly, the couple had to pull away from each other as everyone came to congratulate them. First Elide and Lorcan came up, then Aelin and Rowan, after that Aedion and Lysandra came up. And, some of the final people to come and congratulate them before the general public started coming up to speak with them were Chaol and Yrene. Chaol headed towards Dorian first, while Yrene headed towards Manon.
Yrene quickly congratulated them, and kissed her friends cheek so they had the chance to finish their conversation from earlier. "You didn't let me finish before, there was something else you should have known about," she insisted.
"What is it?" Manon asked quietly, bringing her friend into a hug so their conversation wouldn't be overheard.
"You're pregnant."
