The clock had just hit 3am when Draco opened his eyes. If it wasn’t for that cat that kept on meowing he could’ve been asleep already.
Groaning he turned towards the other boy‘s bed.
“Harry, get her to shut up, I’m bloody tired,” he hissed.
Potter, who was his assigned dormmate for their eighth year at Hogwarts, was also still awake, trying to figure out what the cat wanted from him. Apparently she was trying to get Potter’s attention so that he would follow her. He finally complied.
It took Draco a moment to realise that the feline was leading Potter towards his bed. A moment later she jumped on it and started to meow again, apparently wanting Potter to lie down next to him.
Realising exactly what she wanted, Draco sighed and gave in. He just wanted to sleep.
And it’s not like they were enemies anymore. Yes, they still had a fight here and there but overall Draco had to admit that the Gryffindor was good company.
They understood each other in ways not many others did.
“Only because otherwise that cat won’t stop, got it?” he shifted away, making some space for Harry to lie down next to him. But the cat kept on meowing. So they tried to move closer.
Only when Harry was basically lying on top of Draco did the cat’s meowing finally cease, and the Slytherin felt Harry’s breath on his neck as he made himself comfortable and then whispered, “She’s finally stopped.“
Draco could feel his cheeks heating up.
Potter may have brought the stray in earlier and begged Draco to take a look at her, checking if she wasn’t hurt.
And Draco may have told him she can only stay for one night.
But scrap that, Draco thought as Harry snuggled closer while he was falling asleep.
Draco’s definitely going to keep this cat.
