Barbara had been taking care of her holy duties at the cathedral all day and was on her daily walk/patrol outside of the walls. Despite what Jean may think, she was perfectly capable and could take care of herself.
She had spotted some Hilichurls making a ruckus and rushed over to help any who were injured and defend the people of Mondstat. When she finally got closer she saw some knights already at the scene fighting with the hilichurls. So she deferred to doing her usual.
“Hey everyone!” She called out cheerfully to the civilians, “is everyone ok? Shining Idol Barbara is here to help!”
She cast her healing spell on the civilians and backed up the Knights in front of her. She had found on some of her outings that this tended to help her with her healing.
More and more hilichurls started to arrive however. The knights were no match against the waves baring down upon them. They were getting tired.
“Ok everyone, those who can move, leave now! Take any injured people along with you and get to safety!” Barbara called, putting more effort into sounding cheerful and reassuring than actually healing her comrades. Luckily the civilians understood the severity of the situation and started to run away from the frenzied chaos the knights were barely fending off. ‘Where is Jean when you need her?’ Barbara thought desperately.
The normal Hilichurls were almost all gone and the Samachurl was long defeated when they all heard another horn bellow as more appeared, and what’s worse, two Mitachurls along with them. The knights were taking too much damage and Barbara was getting too tired to keep this up. They had to retreat!
“Knights, I think we should fall ba-“ she didn’t get a chance to finish as a Mitachurl with a shield bore down upon her. Her eyes darted every which way, not that it would matter, there was no way she could dodge this. She squeezed her eyes shut, anticipating the harsh blow of the shield and the additional knock back, but that’s not what she felt. She felt,,, warm.
As her eyes opened and her brain began to process things again she saw a young girl fighting the Mitachurl that had tried to attack her. She was still a little in shock but she knew she had to get up, she had a job to do.
With her refound vigor and determination she cast another healing spell over everyone and jumped back into the fray.
