Chapter Text
A wise man once said that nothing is fun if it’s too easy. That man never met Izuma Midoriya.
Because her life was not easy and it was certainly no fun. Constantly being bullied for having a weak quirk, for being less showboaty than her classmates and for her obsession with heroes. The greenette had it rough.
Let’s backtrack a bit.
Izuma Midoriya had a pretty ordinary life until she turned four, she had a super sweet mom and a great friend in Kacchan. Then she got a quirk, a slightly stronger version of her mom’s. Kacchan didn’t like it and didn’t want to be seen with someone with a weak quirk. Luckily for Izuma, her mom and aunt and uncle Bakugou still saw her as the same nice little girl.
Inko was worried about her daughter but her Izuma kept saying that nothing was wrong, so she couldn’t really solve the problem because she didn’t know it.
Sadly, more and more kids began finding her strange and started ignoring her. Around that time, Kacchan had enough of Izuma, he started calling her Deku, meaning something along the lines of useless, and began turning the rest of their class against the greenette.
So ten years later, they were in their final year of middle school and everyone was against Deku. Some just ignored her, others actively opposed her.
‘Alright settle down, settle down.’ The teacher said with a bored look. ‘I know you all have great quirks and want to get into UA but calm down.’
Izuma was just sitting quiet, writing in her notebook about a hero she saw on the way to school.
‘Hey teach, don’t lump me up with these weaklings .’ Bakugou roared through the classroom with a smug grin on his face, getting some angry yells from the class.
‘Kacchan, can you please calm down?’ Izuma softly asked.
‘You DARE to open your fucking mouth against me Deku!’ Kacchan yelled back.
“Both of you sit down or I’ll give you detention.” The teacher, Mr. Whatzenface said.
After the school day, the anger bomb walked up to the greenette.
“Hey Kacchan, how is your day?” Izuma asks, trying to defuse the situation.
Kacchan wasn’t having any of it. He grabbed Izuma’s notebook out of her hands and blew it up.
‘I see what you're planning, you’re gonna try to get into UA with that weak-ass quirk and embarrass me. Well let me give you some advice, don’t try it you bitch. You can’t save someone by lifting pens and mugs, so maybe take a swan dive off the roof, pray you get a better quirk in your next life.’ After that he just left.
Izuma felt terrible. She had to work hard to keep the tears in and none of the people on the street said anything, the closest to a reaction was some edgy black haired man with piercings who at least looked had her.
Izuma decided to take a detour to clear her mind so her mom wouldn’t worry.
Just when Izuma neared home, a slimy man jumped from a sewerhole.
“Ah little girls, my favorite.” The sludge villain said while jumping into Izuma’s mouth.
Izuma, feeling that her end was near, began thinking about her life. About her loving mom, about Kacchan’s treatment of her but most importantly, if someone would even want to save her.
Just as Izuma had completely given up, help arrived in the form of one glorious punch. It was the number one hero: All Might.
Alter waking up from fainting (because of the lack of oxygen or the sight of her hero) she noticed that All Might was still there.
“All Might sir please sign my notebook!” Izuma quickly asked, until she saw that he already did it.
“Thank you sir.” Izuma said while bowing profoundly to which All Might just raised his hand and waved.
Izuma then remembered her predicament and went to All Might to ask if people with weak quirks can still become heroes. But he already began charging up for a jump.
So Izuma did the only sensible thing and grabbed onto his leg.
Toshinori suddenly felt something on his leg, it wasn’t heavy but it was something. It was the girl he just rescued. He decided to land on a nearby roof and drop the girl off.
“Sorry All Might sir, but I have to ask you something. You see, I don’t have a very strong quirk, it’s a weak telekinesis quirk, but I really want to be a great hero like you. So if I train hard enough, can I too become a hero?” Izuma asked All Might, who began to emit smoke and deflate. The result, a sickly-looking scarecrow man.
“W-w-where is All Might? Are you an imposter? Are you alive?” Izuma asked rapidfire.
“I am here. No I’m real and yes, how else could I answer your questions.” Small Might answered.
“What happened to you?” Izuma then asked.
“Years ago, I had a fight that almost cost me my life. Luckily, I won and the villain is dead so we don’t have to worry about that.” Small Might reluctantly answered.
When Izuma asked which fight Small Might just said that it was kept a secret.
“Now about your question. No, I don't think that a slight telekinesis quirk is suited for hero work. Not all quirks are right for everything.” The hero followed up.
“But what about rescue work, lifting boulders and such.” Izuma tried.
“If you can just lift things like pens, I don’t think that you would be capable of lifting boulders.” Small Might said. After that, he just left.
Izuma was distrate.
“Maybe it would hold more weight if you didn’t look so weak yourself.” She thought bitterly to herself.
After that disaster, Izuma just wanted to go home. But on the way home she noticed a fire and went to check on it. What she saw was something she would never have liked to see.
The sludge villain was free again, he had Kacchan and the heroes weren’t stopping the villain.
“Why aren’t they doing something?” Izuma asked herself, starting to panic.
Eventually, she decided if no one was going to do something, she would. So she ran past the heroes, using her quirks to throw small objections like cans at the villain while trying to dig Kacchan out of the villain.
This sadly didn’t work, but then some bigger objects (trash cans or something like that) came falling down onto the villain. This made the villain loosen his hold on Kacchan so that Izuma could pull him out.
Kacchan didn’t appreciate it, he hated being helped by such a weak Deku. So while Kacchan tried to attack Izuma, the heroes were still doing nothing and the villain was getting up. Izuma looked up and saw who threw the bigger objects. It was a brunette girl with blushes. The girl was about to come down until the villain went for another attack.
Then suddenly, All Might appeared again and defeated the villain again with one punch.
After the fight Kacchan and the brunette were praised for their bravery while Izuma was scolded for her recklessness. But it went from bad to worse when All Might showed up.
“I told you that you couldn’t be a hero with such a quirk. You would only get in the way or get hurt, maybe worse. Not to mention that you're not even allowed to use your quirk.” He said with a smile, that FUCKING smile, like he was laughing about her misfortune.
“I was the only one who acted, the ‘real’ heroes just stood there. But in the end who are the good guys, the guy who started the fire WITH his quirk and the girl who acted WITH her quirk.” Izuma snarled at her former hero.
“You know what All Might, screw you.” She then said. After that she finally went home, once again with tears in her eyes, once again no one noticed.
On the way home, Kacchan followed Izuma to yell at her some more but he was completely ignored. Who Izuma didn’t expect to see again was the brunette girl.
“What do you want?” Izuma asked, annoyed.
“I wanted to thank you, you inspired me to try to save that boy. Also, I wanted to apologize for not standing up for you.” The girl said.
“It’s fine.” Izuma said back.
“My name is Ochaco Uraraka. Mind telling me yours?” Ochaco then asked.
“Izuma Midoriya.” The greenette answered.
They talked for a bit and exchanged numbers.
“Maybe not everyone is that bad as Kacchan.” Izuma thought to herself.
As Izuma was leaving, a man appeared behind Ochaco.
“Young miss, I would like to talk to you about something.”
Meanwhile on some nearly rooftops. Two men were discussing Izuma.
“I think she would make a great first friend, I mean an ally for you.” A misty man said to the twenty-something-year old man beside him.
“Then let’s ask her kurogiri.” The man said to his servant.
Inko saw the news and was furious. How dare that man publicly humiliate her daughter and scold her for doing the hero's work.
Then her daughter came home, struggling to keep the tears at bay. So as any good mother would do, she comforted her child. They spent two hours on the couch together until the doorbell rang.
Outside was a man made out of smoke and a younger man with blue hair and a black hoodie.
“May we come inside?” The mistman asked.
Once the four were inside the living room the younger man began speaking.
“I’m Tomura Shigaraki and I’m looking for people who will help me kill All Might. My sources informed me that you have a great tactical mind, being able to make detailed notes about the weaknesses and strengths of heroes. We could use someone like you. So join us.” Tomura said.
“Very good Tomura.” The mistman whispered. Tomura seemed to like it.
“Can you two wait here for a moment. I want to talk to my daughter for a moment.” Inko said while leading Izuma to a different room.
“Mom, I know that joining villains isn’t exactly a good thing but..” she was cut off by her mother’s finger on her lips.
“Join them, erase that bad man from existence. Just, be safe please.” Her mom said with tears in her eyes.
“I will.” Izuma answered back, also having tears in her eyes.
After twenty minutes, they returned to the two villains with their decision.
“I’m in. When do I have to leave?”
“Great and never. We don’t have enough room to house you too. So just come to this address every day at seven o’clock, we will train together then.” Shigaraki said. Giving the girl a piece of paper with an address.
“Now lastly, do you have an alias you would like to go by?” Kurogiri asked.
After thinking for a bit Izuma thought of something.
“Magica”
“I like it.” Shigaraki said with a thumb up.
“Now, let’s begin thinking how to bring All Might’s downfall.”
