Work Text:
A knock startled you out of your thoughts. Previously hovering over your canvas, your head whipped towards the door and you stood up, going to answer it. As you swung the door open, a bright smile and tufts of white hair greeted you.
"Nagito? What're you doing here?" You moved aside to let him in, which he took up gratefully. He set down the bags he was holding and shrugged off his coat with a sigh, rolling his head to the side.
"Good morning to you too, y/n!," You looked over to the stove clock. Sure enough, it read '6:29' in bright green.
"I'm here to visit you! I brought some stuff to make breakfast." As he spoke, he knelt down with a 'pop!' in his knees and started unpacking. He pulled out eggs, fresh vegetables, and other things.
You watched in stunned silence as if he was performing a magic act for your eyes only. "How did you get all this stuff? The grocery store doesn't open until later." Your legs moved on their own, kneeling down to help him carry everything. He chuckled, cradling some breakfast sausage close to his chest. "There was a farmer's market! And everything was on sale, nonetheless. How lucky, hm?"
"Really lucky," You sighed. Nagito placed everything gently on the countertop, taking what you were holding in your own hands and setting them down as well. "I wish you'd stop wasting your money on things like this for me."
Nagito's face scrunched up. "It's no waste! I like being able to take care of you," He wrapped his fingers gently around your wrist and tugged you towards him, placing another hand on your hip, "You do the same for me all the time, don't you?" Letting out a sigh of defeat, you leaned into his embrace and looked over to your workspace with resentment.
"Want to help me cook?" The tips of his fingers gently drummed at your waist as he murmured. You thought for a moment before nodding. Surely a small break to spend time with your boyfriend would be alright? Hell, it might even help you get back to work later. His face lit up and he made great haste of prepping the kitchen, grabbing pans and a colander to clean the vegetables in. Nagito seemed to know where everything was, possibly even more than you did, because he had everything set up in no time.
With Nagito, cooking always seemed to be a hit or miss, just like everything else he did. He was always coming to you with something new to try. Not everything he made turned out the best, but he seemed happy to have at least tried it with you. Even if you had to step in sometimes to keep him from burning down your apartment.
He eyed the Martha Stewart website on his phone before setting it on the counter face up. "Nothing new today, just omelets! I wanted to give you a break after last week." Ah, last week. He had come to your home with a pastry recipe eager to try and almost burned a hole in your countertop. You erupted into laughter at the memory and he looked at you with adoring eyes before following soon after.
Breakfast went by without a hitch, thank fuck. You plopped onto your sofa with your plate, a spring digging into your backside from underneath the cushion. Nagito grunted as he took a seat right next to you, nestling himself into your side with a small smile on his lips.
"Y'know one bell pepper would've been just fine, Nagito." You carved into the egg with your fork.
"Well, yeah! We used one in the omelets!"
"You bought five." You murmured while chewing, covering your mouth with your hand. Nagito simply giggled and tore into his own omelet, squealing with excitement and kicking his feet.
"You did such a good job, y/n! What a great chef you are!" He cooed, nuzzling his face into your neck and chortling when you shied away from the tickling sensation. You whined when he began attacking your neck with little kisses, holding his plate in the air away from you two.
You set your plate on the coffee table before setting your tickle attack into motion. Nagito let out a high-pitched squeal and almost dropped his food as your fingers prodded and jabbed his sides, unrelenting. He had a wheeze to his laugh, writhing under you and trying in vain to end your reign of terror.
"KehAHAHA- Y/N, please-!! I- I'm gonna pass ou- AHHGH!" He fell off the couch, dropping the plate on his head and gasping for breath as tears pricked at the corners of his eyes, all while a wide grin made his face ache. You cackled as the egg slid off his hair and onto your carpet, reaching out your hand which he took, hauling himself to his feet.
"Hooh man, now my stomach hurts!" He whined, sitting cross-legged as you disposed of the mess and cleaned food from his hair with care, pressing an apologetic kiss to the crown of his head when you finished.
"Sorry hun. Are you still hungry?" He shook his head and leaned in, pressing his grinning lips to yours as his arms wrapped around your shoulders. "Although if you wanted to feed me, I couldn't say I'd be opposed..." You scoffed and shoved a hand to his face, pressing his back into your cushions and following down with him.
A yawn interrupted you before you could even speak and Nagito smiled. "How long have you been up, love?" You pursed your lips in concentration, bringing up your hand to count on your fingers, causing Nagito to roll his eyes and pat your back. "Let's take a nap!"
Your eyes flickered to your desk again, biting the inside of your cheek. "I should probably get back to work..."
"Oh, work can wait! C'mon." He slipped out from under your arms and grabbed your hand, leading you to your own bedroom. You complied with a long, drawn-out groan.
As the two of you climbed under the blankets, Nagito quickly tangled his limbs with yours, basking in the warmth. "Wake me up in an hour..." You mumbled into the crook of his neck and he smiled in response and hugged you closer. The two of you slept until three in the afternoon.
