⊱ 🌹Memento vivere- TaeJin🌹 ⊰

Summary:

Kim Taehyung is a University student, who is too stressed about his Latin course and his upcoming Latin Exam. He studies all day and night and barely does anything else, even when he currently has semester break. His best friend Park Jimin wants to spend some time with him, so that the younger can take a break and stop worrying so much about the exam.

He takes him to a newly opened café where a cute and handsome man works, for who the younger immediately falls...hard.

Notes:

I am currently taking a Latin course because I am studying history and I need to be able to understand Latin. So my semester break is pretty much how I described it with Taehyung xD. I thought I write a cute and wholesome One-Shot about it, so that I feel a little bit better and actually do something else than just studying😅 I hope you‘ll enjoy this One-Shot🌹💕

Work Text:

"Tae, are you even doing anything else these days? Every time I come here to spend some time with you, you're sitting on your desk and studying. Take a break.", Jimin pouted while he sat down next to his best friend and laid his head on the younger's shoulder, "Don't be so worried about your exam, you can totally do it!", he tried to cheer the blond guy up, but Taehyung didn't react. He just kept on staring at his book and his notes. His round glasses nearly slid down his nose while his eyes scanned the text he was supposed to translate.

"Tae~", Jimin whined louder and grabbed the younger's arm and slightly shook it, "You can't just stop to live just because of this!", he added and Taehyung sighed before he turned around and looked at his friend.

"Jimin, it's really important! I have to pass this Latin course and get my Latin certificate, so that I can keep focusing on my actual studies! It is important.", he tried to explain the reason for his absence in the last few weeks to his friend, but Jimin just furrowed his eyebrows.

"Aren't you already one of the best in your class? You can take breaks, you know that, right?", Jimin answered and Taehyung sighed lowly. How many times did they talk about that already?

"Yea, I am not bad at it, but do you know that there will be an oral exam as well? You know how much I hate oral exams. I have to nail this shit, because I don't want the professors to look at me and think I am dumb.", he added and carefully took Jimin's hand away from his arm before he turned to his book again, "Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be if I struggle? Oh god, I don't even want to think about that.", he adjusted his glasses and continued to read the sentence he was struggling with.

"No professor would think your dumb just because you can't translate one or two sentences completely correct. Tae, you're worrying about nothing!"

"I'm not worrying for nothing. I can't remember all the Perfect Tense forms of the verbs! Do you know how important that is? Without them I can't recognize the Past Perfect Tense forms, either, and then I can't translate the sentences.", Taehyung continued to explain Jimin his struggle, because the older just didn't get it. Was it really that hard to understand that Taehyung just wanted to pass the exam without having to worry about it? He just wanted to be prepared as best as he could.

Jimin sighed before he put his elbows on the desk and his head on top of his hands. He glanced over to Taehyung, who was already writing down his translation again with a focused expression on his face; his lower lip caught between his teeth.

"You know that your exam does not have to be perfect, right? You just have to pass and no one will even ask you after that what grade you had in your exam. It's just important that you have your certificate. You could even pass with the worst grade- wouldn't make a difference on the outcome.", Jimin tried again to somehow calm his best friend down, because he knew that Taehyung was stressing too much about this particular course.

The younger turned his head to Jimin and looked at him with a disappointed expression: "Chimchim, do you even know me?"

"I know that you're a perfectionist, but you still should take breaks in between. It's semester break. You should go out, spent time with friends and just live."

Taehyung hesitated for a second. He knew that Jimin wouldn't leave him alone if the younger did not take any breaks. Maybe he should just spend some time with Jimin and then he could go back to studying?

"Fine. What do you want to do?", Taehyung sighed defeated, put his pen down and closed his book, a sign for Jimin that he was really listening and ready to take a break.

"There is a really cute café that opened not too long ago and I really want to go there! We can drink something and maybe eat a slice of cake or something like that. I heard that the guy, who makes the cakes, is the best baker around.", Jimin clapped his hands excited and already stood up, "All my friends, who were there loved the cakes!"

Taehyung opened his mouth in shock and put a hand on his chest: "You have other friends besides me? I was never betrayed like that!", he fake whined and Jimin laughed before he grabbed Taehyung's arm and pulled the younger up.

"Let's go, okay? And I promise that I'll let you concentrate on your studies after that, okay?"

Taehyung nodded and together they left the younger's small dorm room. They went outside and talked while they walked down the streets; the sun shining warmly and a few birds were chirping in the tree crowns. It was a beautiful spring day and Taehyung was actually happy that his friend had insisted for him to go outside. It was beautiful.

He could feel his skin prickle from the warmth of the sun, his headache, which had formed earlier, slowly started to fade away and in general Taehyung could feel his mood get better. Studying really was exhausting and maybe Taehyung had forgot to take breaks in the past few weeks. He had been to stressed because of the upcoming exam, to stressed about not knowing everything perfectly what they had learned in the past semester, and way too stressed about the fact that it would be his first oral exam in university- he hated it.

While Jimin was talking about his roommate Jungkook, who had the habit to walk around the room half naked every time he could, which made Jimin have a really hard time, Taehyung's mind already drifted somewhere else again.

'amavi, amavisti, amavit, amavimus, amavistis, amaverunt. okay, got that. What was the Perfect Tense Form of ludere again? ludi...no...right, it was lusi . Okay: lusi, lusistsi, lusit, lusimus, lusistis, luserunt. Great. And agere? It was irregular, right? What was it...egi! Right! So: egi, egisti, egit, egimus, egistis, egerunt. Okay and-'

"Tae, are you even listening to me?", Jimin looked at him with a frown on his face and Taehyung quickly cleared his throat and scratched his neck embarrassed.

"Sorry Jimin. My thoughts were somewhere else just now.", he smiled awkwardly at his best friend and Jimin sighed before he shook his head: "Tae, I wanted to spent time with you so that you can take a break from studying all the time, and you're still racking your brain about Latin?", he pouted and Taehyung chuckled out of embarrassment.

"You know me too well, hyung.", he admitted before he cleared his throat: "But you're right. I'll forget about studying for now, okay?"

Jimin looked at him for a second and stopped walking. Taehyung did the same thing and watched his best friend confused. Jimin pointed his index finger on Taehyung and looked at him seriously: "If I catch you thinking about whatever word forms or grammatical structures today, I will not hesitate to throw hands, got it? You're taking a break today and I don't care if you want to or not, because you need this break.", his words were serious, but Jimin's voice indicated that he was really just worried about Taehyung.

"I understand.", Taehyung chuckled lowly before he wrapped his hand around Jimin's index finger and pushed it down, so that it wasn't threatening to stick into his eyes any minute anymore. He then intervened their hands together and smiled: "Today I'll have a nice day with my ChimChim and tomorrow I can worry about my exams again."

Jimin blushed slightly but nodded: "Exactly."

They started to walk again and Jimin told Taehyung once more- because the younger hadn't listen the first time- how Jimin had nearly drilled when Jungkook exited the bathroom after his shower with only a towel wrapped around his hips: "Wow, Tae you won't believe me how hot he looked! I nearly passed out, or jumped him. God...", Jimin squealed at the memory and Taehyung couldn't help himself but laugh at his friend.

"I already told you that I have the feeling that he wants to seduce you.", Taehyung smirked and wiggled his eyebrows, but Jimin just slapped his shoulder and blushed furiously. He quickly shook his head that hard that Taehyung was scared it would rip off every second: "He does not!"

Taehyung looked at him with a 'What-the-fuck-of-course-he-does' face and Jimin started to blush even harder, "Sometimes you're really an idiot.", he murmured and the younger just laughed loudly.

They arrived at the café a few minutes later and Jimin went in first. Taehyung followed him and whistled lowly at the decoration. It was a pretty place: Creme colored walls, bright wooden desks and chairs, and every desk was graced with flowers. The ceiling was decorated with flowers in white and all shades of pink and chains of lights, which were tinting the café in a warm and faint light. The place had a nice and comfy vibe and Taehyung immediately fell in love with it.

The menu of the café hung over the bright wooden counter, on which bowls with cookies were placed. It was a beautiful handwriting with a pink pen on white background and every drink sounded like heaven.

"It's really pretty.", Taehyung murmured behind Jimin and the older nodded while they took their place in the quite long queue, which had formed in front of the counter, "I feel as if I am in a fairytale.", the older answered and Taehyung hummed in agreement.

"I don't even know what I want to order...it all sounds great.", Taehyung murmured while he let his eyes scan the menu.

"I definitely want to have a slice of the apple pie with vanilla ice. It sounds so good.", Jimin answered while he read the menu as well. Taehyung laid his head on top of the older's shoulder and hummed lowly: "It really sounds good."

The queue in front of them slowly moved forward and they followed; Taehyung's head still on Jimin's shoulder, which resulted in an - probably- awkward looking forward shuffling of the blond man, while he wrapped his hands around Jimin's waist.

They talked while they waited and when only two couples were left standing in front of them, Taehyung finally decided for a drink, "I think I am just going to take the strawberry milkshake. I like strawberries.", he murmured and Jimin chuckled lowly before he turned around and looked at his friend: "I would have been surprised if you picked anything else, to be honest."

Taehyung grinned and looked up to Jimin before he lifted his head from the older's shoulders and straightened his back. He nodded, "As I said before: you just know me too well."

"Thank you for visiting us. I hope you'll enjoy your drinks.", a smooth voice thanked the couple at the end of the queue and Taeyhung tilted his head to the side to look at the man behind the counter. He had brown hair and wide shoulders- but, like, seriously wide. 'Damn', the blond man thought while he looked at the man behind the counter. Taehyung couldn't see his face because one couple was still standing in front of him and the guy was blocking his view, but he could hear his voice and this voice sounded just...beautiful? Taehyung didn't know how he should describe it, but it was soothing and soft and just did something to the younger. It was nice.

The couple in front of Taehyung and Jimin placed their order and sat down on one of the still available desks to wait for their ordered drinks to come. Taehyung and Jimin moved forward, but the man had his back turned to both of them while he talked to his coworker before he finally turned around again.

"Hey, welcome to PinkDestiny, what can I get you?", he asked with a wide smile and for a second Taehyung forgot how to breath. This man was gorgeous!

"Eh...", was all Taehyung's overwhelmed brain could produce, but luckily Jimin understood right away and placed his order first to get Taehyung some more time to compose himself.

"Okay. And what can I get you?", the man asked after he scribbled Jimin's order on a note and turned to Taehyung. The younger noticed how it was the same beautiful handwriting like on the menu and he couldn't help himself but be impressed. Was this guy the whole package or what?

"I, uh...I'd like a strawberry milkshake, please.", Taehyung cleared his throat and tried to place his order without stuttering too much.

"Okay, and do you maybe want a cake as well?", the man asked and Taeyhung's brain went blank again. Oh god, someone please help me. I forgot how to speak.

"Eh, well...can you recommend something?", he asked shyly and started to fiddle nervously with his fingers while he looked down on the man's name card- Seokjin. Seokjin smiled and nodded: "I really recommend the chocolate cake with the hot chocolate filling. I think it would go really well with your strawberry milkshake and it is really good- and I don't just say that because I backed it.", he winked at Taehyung and the younger nearly had a heart attack.

"Oh okay, if you say so. Then I'd like to have a slice of that chocolate cake as well.", he answered with a soft blush on his cheeks and Jimin frowned at him for a second before his lips turned into a wide smile and he tried to hold back his laughters.

"Okay, you're order will be ready in no time. Do you want to take it with you, or you do want to eat here?", Seokjin asked and Jimin quickly answered: "We will be eating here."

The brown haired man nodded and pointed into the direction of the desks: "You can sit down then. We will bring your order to your desk when it's ready."

Jimin thanked Seokjin with a polite smile before he grabbed Taehyung's arm and dragged the nearly drooling blond man with him. They sat down on one of the tables at the window and Jimin pushed Taehyung down on his seat from where the younger could watch Seokjin without being to suspicious.

"Chocolate cake, huh? I thought you didn't like chocolate cakes because they are too sweet for you?", Jimin teased the younger and wiggled his eyebrows, "But I think I can't judge you. This guy looks fine!", he whistled lowly and Taehyung chuckled before he nodded.

His gaze travelled back to the young man, who was now helping his coworker prepare the drinks.

"How can someone look like an actual angel?", Taehyung thought out loud and Jimin placed his elbows on the desk and put his head on his hands before he  fluttered his eyelashes: "What do you mean? You should have know that already, I mean: we are friends and you see me all the time.", he winked at his friend and Taehyung bursted out in loud laughters before he pressed his hands against his mouth and blushed slightly.

A few costumers looked at him weirdly and he could see how Seokjin had turned around and was now staring at him as well. The brunette smiled softly at Taehyung before he turned around again and focused on the orders he had to prepare.

"Why are you laughing, huh? Am I not beautiful? Is that what you want to tell me?", Jimin continued to play hurt, his lips pulled into a pout and his puppy eyes looking directly at the blond man, who was still slightly blushing from the sudden attention.

Jimin clicked his tongue when he didn't get an answer to his teasing and instead tilted his head to the side: "Tae, you're staring."

Taehyung immediately averted his gaze from Seokjin and cleared his throat, "Am I that obvious?"

Jimin nodded slowly while his lips curled into a big smile: "It is cute to see you like that.", he said while Taehyung glanced into Seokjin's direction again.

"Oh my god, he's coming.", Taehyung mumbled and quickly averted his gaze to his hands, which he had placed into his lap. Jimin chuckled before he shook his head and lifted his elbows from the table to fold his hands in his lap as well: "Calm down, Tae."

"Here is your apple cake with vanilla ice-", Seokjin started and placed the plate with Jimin's dessert on the table, "And here is your strawberry milkshake and your chocolate cake.", he continued and placed Taehyung's order in front of the blond man and smiled, "I hope you'll enjoy it.", he said before he finally left.

While Jimin already took the first bite of his dessert Taehyung breathed out a breath he didn't even know he was holding while the other was there. He slowly took the first sib of his strawberry milkshake and hummed satisfied: "It's really good.", he murmured and Jimin nodded with a full mouth.

The younger took the fork in his hand and tried a piece of the chocolate cake. Normally, he really didn't like chocolate cakes because they were always too sweet for him, but he actually liked that one. It didn't have this strong chocolate taste, he normally didn't like. It was still sweet, but at the same time not too sweet. Taehyung really liked it.

He nodded positive surprised and let his gaze wander around the café, just to meet Seokjin's eyes. The other had his elbows rested on the counter and his head on his hands. He looked straight at him and when he saw Taehyung's positive reaction to the cake he smiled softly.

The blond man nearly choked on the piece of chocolate cake, but he succeeded in calming himself down before he smiled shyly at Seokjin and then averted his gaze back to Jimin.

"Tae, you really have to try this! It's so good!", Jimin said and already hold his spoon with the cake and vanilla ice into his direction. Taehyung nodded and quickly took the bite before he gave a thumbs up, "Wow, it's really good!", he agreed and Jimin nodded.

"I might come here more often and try everything on this menu.", Jimin chuckled with his mouth full before he already took the next bite and looked out of the window. Taehyung took a sip of his milkshake and let his gaze travel into Seokjin's direction again, but this time the older was frowning slightly at the younger before he straightened his back and disappeared into the kitchen, which was laying right behind the counter.

Taehyung bit his lips and sighed before he averted his gaze back to Jimin and started to talk to him about their plans for the next semester.

***

After they had finished their drinks and desserts they wanted to go back to the counter to pay. Because Jimin had finally made him take a break, Taehyung insisted on paying for them both and after a short discussion, they decided that Jimin would pay for both of them the next time.

Seokjin was standing behind the counter when Taehyung approached him while Jimin waited for him outside.

"I hope you and your boyfriend enjoyed your drinks and desserts.", Seokjin said with a polite smile and Taehyung froze for a second before he started to laugh: "Yeah, we did, but he is not my boyfriend.", he explained and Seokjin opened his mouth into a 'o'-shape before he chuckled and his ears started to turn red: ‚I am sorry, I shouldn't have assumed anything."

Taehyung waved his one hand at him and shook his head: "It's okay. Don't worry."

Seokjin nodded before he entered their orders into the register: "That's 17.000 Won, please.", he said with a smile and Taehyung quickly took the money from his wallet. He handed it to Seokjin with a smile and the brunette gave him the receipt back.

"I hope you'll visit us again soon.", Seokjin said before he bowed slightly and then turned to the next costumer.

Taehyung blushed slightly and exited the café. He would definitely come back again.

When he finally stood next to Jimin again he wanted to take the receipt in his wallet, but he stopped when he saw the beautiful handwriting on the bottom of the receipt.

"What is it?", Jimin asked confused when he saw Taehyung's face turn pale before it started to flush in a dark shade of red, which even reached his ears.

"He gave me his number!", he shrieked and Jimin immediately took the receipt into his hand to see it for himself.

"He really did? Wow, Tae! You have to text him later!", Jimin gave him the receipt back before he wrapped his hands around Taehyung's arms and shook him slightly: "Oh my god, my best friend will go on a date! Maybe you'll become boyfriends...or maybe you're even gonna get married and then you'll have ki-", Jimin started to rattle away before Taehyung finally stopped him: "Chimchim, you need to calm down, okay?", he chuckled before they both started to walk home again.

'You need a break, Tae.', 'It's just a few hours, Tae.', Taehyung recalled the things Jimin told him before they went to the café today. Yeah, right. He wanted to concentrate on his studies again after he spent time with Jimin. It didn't seem to be a big distraction. It was totally fine.

Yes, it was fine until Taehyung had met Seokjin, because now he was lying on his bed and giggling like a teenage girl while he texted Seokjin and his Latin book laid unopened on his desk, all the stress and pressure forgotten.

Yeah, he could worry about that tomorrow.
