Chapter Text
Marinette doesn’t want to go to Gotham. She might stand out too much, and she doesn’t know how to blend in other than not talking about accomplishments and being nice.
If someone says they know MDC, she’s not going to correct them.
Marinette isn’t going to run for class president.
Maybe Lila will be class president in Francois Dupont (Marinette hopes Ms Bustier is fired and Lila gets expelled).
Hawkmoth’s gone, so maybe the Ladyblog will be abandoned, though seeing the posts all about Ladybug’s best friend, perhaps not.
Marinette isn’t going to end up the same way twice, and she’s not going to be manipulated any longer.
She doesn’t have to be an example anymore.
Marinette hopes that Alya will call, so that she can hang up on her in the middle of the call, then bock her number.
But that isn’t important, not when she needs to get off the plane and find the person who’s going to be taking her in for the exchange program.
While walking towards where she hopes she should be, she sees three areas under construction. There are a few men with duffel bags and masks, but Marinette isn’t bothered since nobody else seems particularily scared.
She reviews the email she’s gotten from the family she’s staying with, and looks around for a woman with short dark hair and a cat shirt.
Walking through the crowd makes Marinette anxious. There are a lot of people, and why would anyone even come for her? Maybe she’s supposed to go somewhere else, instead. What if she’s bothering people?
“Excuse me, are you Ms Kyle?” she says.
The woman looks up, and grins. “That’s me! Marinette, right? Nice to meet you!”
Marinette tries her best to smile back. “Nice to meet you too, Ms Kyle.”
“Let’s go now, the faster we get there the faster you get to sleep!”
