Chapter 1: Reunited

Chapter Text

A few months after Kristoph Gavin's second conviction, Solitary Confinement Cell 13

A guard walks over to the fallen attorney's confinement cell. "Mr. Gavin, someone has paid your bail and is offering to take you home. Any idea who that might be?"

Kristoph Gavin rose from his chair and grabbed one thing, his Ariadoney nail polish. He sighed as he walked over to the cell's door, "I haven't the slightest clue who would bail me out. It could be a number of people who claim to care for me, they're foolish. All of them." The guard didn't say another word, he unlocked the cell door and escorted him outside to a car, then simply left. Kristoph squinted, it was rather bright outside. He eyed the car down, seeing one person's silhouette in the car. The silhouette resembled that of a beanie, only one person he knew wore a beanie. He sighed but he was interrupted as the window rolled down. "How goes it Gavin? It's been a while huh?"

Kristoph was silent for a moment but in this moment of silence he adjusted his glasses. "Phoenix Wright, this is most unexpected. To think you'd bail me out of my solitary confinement….and it seems as though you've learned how to drive, good for you. I'm doing quite alright, thank you very much.. What's the catch?” Phoenix cocked his head to the side, "Catch? Nonono, there's no catch." He laughed. "Just get in the car, we have a lot of catching up to do, don't you think?" Kristoph walked around to the passenger's side of the car and got into the car just as he was told to do. He swiftly buckled his seat belt and let out yet another sigh. "So, Wright, however did you pay my bail, hm? I can't imagine you have much money, seeing as you're still unemployed. I'd think it was quite a large amount of money too."

"Oh I have my ways Kris, don't you worry about me. So, shall we head to the Borscht Bowl Club? We can play a game of poker and catch up, even have dinner or something." Kristoph crossed his arms and looked out the window, mumbling "Anything is better than that horrid confinement cell." Which earned a small soft smile from Phoenix as he made his way to the Club. He was a pretty smooth driver Kristoph thought. The last time they'd met he rode a bike everywhere or walked. This certainly was an improvement but this did not make Kristoph think highly of Phoenix. He was still the depressed Phoenix he knew, where he lacked good hygiene and where wine lingered in his every breath.

The lights of the city distracted Kristoph the entire time, except, his brain was working as well. Questions were building up inside of his mind.

Kristoph's head was clouded with so many questions. He didn't understand why Phoenix bailed him. Did Phoenix still care about him? Was this all a trick to get revenge? Did Phoenix know about 7 years ago, what *really* happened? All these questions and more clouded his mind and gave him a small headache. When they pulled up to the Borscht Bowl Club he looked at Phoenix. He looked as if he was about to cry, but he couldn't. His reputation still mattered to him. Even though it was shattered by those convictions. "Wright...can I ask you why...why did you bail me out of my solitary confinement..? I've done nothing but destroy your life. What could you possibly want from a broken soul like me? Did you bail me just to laugh because I've fallen too?"
