Work Text:
Norman could hear the soft purring of the cat by the end of the bed, or what he assumed to be the cat since his wife was pretending to be asleep as she tangled her limbs around his body.
"Emma... We should get up..." The man tried to persuade her once more, only to feel her shaking her head and finding her way to be even closer to him. Norman sighed but it didn't take too long for a smile to return to his face, his hand gently brushing her orange locks as the little light that the room window's allowed to pass by the still closed white curtains, the lively hair in waves like a flame of fire that Norman loved to get drown in.
The sweet smell of strawberries filling his nostrils as he buried his face on her hair, which was far softer than the spiky hairstyle of his lover made it look like, the familiar aroma brings nothing but a feeling of welcome and love, a scent that always calmed Norman down and he sought for.
His free hand slowly caressed Emma's back, feeling her relaxed shoulders and down her behind, finally resting on her upper thigh that was on top of his leg.
Her skin was so warm against his hand, Norman mindlessly making his thumb rub slow circles under the hem of her sleeping shorts just to touch her, his mind requiring the need to feel her body and keeping her close.
He liked these moments when it was just the two of them, not to say that Norman didn't like when they were with their friends but being with Emma, living with her, being able of loving her as freely as he did were all things that made him treasure the moments he spends with the woman he loved.
"Five more minutes..." The emerald jewels of his wife finally revealed themselves to him, no traces about any worn expression and looking as lively and cheerful as always, which only made Norman sure that Emma had just been enjoying his warmth this entire time instead of sleeping.
"Your last ' only five more minutes' were two hours ago, baby" Norman couldn't help but let out a chuckle before finding his lips being taken in a stolen kiss, making him smile against his lover's pout.
"I'm feeling good like this..." Emma explained, continuing to steal a row of short kisses from her husband in-between words until Norman finally managed to reach out to hold the back of her head, making her face stay in place to be able to definitely greet her with a decent kiss and not just small teases from those delicious lips that always trapped Norman in their sweetness.
"You need to at least eat your breakfast, Emma." Norman reminded when finally deciding it was enough of their matinal kiss but his hand kept playing with her hair, also having few or no intentions or will to let her go.
"Then let's eat breakfast in bed!" Almost like a child, Emma hugged Norman to a point of making it impossible to break away, the movements on the bed making the cat that had been resting by their feet jump out of the bed as their sleep had been disturbed but seeing the black cat moving also reminded Emma of the fact that they also had the responsibility of watching over Ray's cat as their best friend was on a business trip "Oh right, Bella also needs to eat..."
Norman pondered for a moment about his wife's plan, her body was so warm against his, the sound of the rain outside making it so much more comfortable to just cuddle the entire day and enjoy the moments of peace between the two of them that he knew it wouldn't remain like that for much too long.
Finally coming up to a conclusion, he kissed her forehead and untangled himself from her embrace, seeing how her eyes looked at him with a hint of sadness within them, which made Norman reassure her with a smile "I'm going to feed Bella and also bring you something to eat, is there anything you want?"
"Are you on the menu?"
A blush crept on Norman's cheeks, not having at all expected the flirtatious remark but he knew he had to be strong in order to be able to take care of his wife.
"Only as dessert." He poked her nose, seeing her faking a pout when he didn't give in to her attempts "I'll be right back, okay?"
The man felt how the cat rubbed herself against his leg, knowing food would be on the way, but he only left the room after one more long kiss from his wife, making sure she went back to lay down before he turned his back to her.
Having fed the cat and eaten some quick toast while he prepared Emma's breakfast, Norman returned a few minutes later with a tray in his hands, smiling when seeing Emma still in her place on the bed while tying her hair in a small ponytail, while her hair was nowhere to be considered long it was now at a fair length that it would bother her when doing some tasks like eating.
Despite having told him that she didn't want breakfast, Norman still saw how her eyes glittered when her gaze landed on the food on top of the tray he had gently placed on her lap, looking incredulous at him.
"Norman, this is too much-"
"Nonsense. It's my job to take care of you, Emma." He reminded her and sat down next to her on his spot, seeing how the woman looked indecisive over what to eat first.
"Still..." Emma could feel herself salivate over the perfectly done scrambled eggs on one side of the plate, next to the grilled toast, and with the yogurt with pieces of strawberries and kiwi.
She ended up going to the yogurt first, the craving for strawberries making her giving in and taking into note how there seemed to have more strawberries than anything else.
Norman really did know her cravings.
The said man could only smile when he saw how his wife ate everything that he had presented to her without any complaint, the pure pleasure when devouring the meal was evident and Norman only felt proud filling him to see Emma satisfied with his work.
It took barely any time for only the porcelain plate and bowl to be in the tray, no evidence of food to be seen and Emma stretched her arms up into the air "It was so good! Thanks for the extra strawberries..."
"I'm glad someone isn't too picky today." Norman joked, earning a smile from Emma when his hand came to her stomach region, drawing small circles in the somewhat visible bump belly "And that it isn't causing too many problems to their mama."
He still remembers the morning sicknesses that always made him feel so weak against not being able to help Emma, it was a moment of worry about his wife that turned out to be the best news of his entire life when she announced the positive pregnancy test.
It seemed it had been a sign of their baby to show they were there and wanted to be acknowledged because, since the reveal, the morning waves of nausea had ceased to extremely rare occasions but to compensate one lost, the craving for a certain food, especially strawberries had increased drastically to the point of Norman finding Emma in the middle of the night with a bowl of strawberries with cream almost as a daily routine.
Setting aside the tray and carefully placing it on the ground next to the bed, Emma shifted to sit on Norman's lap with his arms immediately coming to wrap themselves around her body to secure her weight as the woman rested her forehead on his.
"You know we won't have this much privacy when the baby's here with us, right?"
"I know. But for now-" Norman gently picked her up to carefully lay Emma down on the mattress, seeing her gaze softening as he leaned in to meet her lips with his own "Let's make the most of our time."
