Sweets Have An Aftertaste

Summary:

If I love someone, I would take all the sweetness in the world and give it them, along with it’s unwanted aftertaste.

Work Text:

Geto Suguru always knew that Gojo likes sweets: chocolates, mochi, and a lot more. He always knew that, every once in a while Suguru would always buy new sweet treats for Satoru to try, from newly crafted candy to old treats that still taste sweet, he would get that for Satoru. “You keep on bringing me sweets, why is that?” Suguru looks at Satoru with pure adoration and wonder as he smiles and replies “Is it wrong of me to make you fall in love with me again and again?”

After that time where Satoru questioned Suguru, they both built some kind of stronger bond as they continue to voyage life together, Suguru never forgets to try to create a new kind of sweetness for Satoru, whether it’s a fail or not Satoru always enjoys every moment of it. “Are you trying to make a caramel flavored Mochi?” Satoru’s voice echoes in the hallway of the kitchen, Suguru quickly responds to Satoru’s question with a ‘yes’ as his mind trails off on how Satoru was able to figure it out just by smelling the caramel in the pot. “I’m pretty sure that will turn out well..” Satoru sang while he approached Suguru, helping him to create the treat.

Those days where sweetness drowned the two also helped them to overcome the bitterness in life, in fact those sweet and warm moments they both shared was one of the things that made them go on. To the first time they fall apart, to the second time they come around, and the nth time where they fall in love. Satoru doesn’t know where to start whenever he talks about Suguru, but one thing is for sure when Satoru talks about Suguru two words don't seem to miss and that’s love and sweet. Suguru, written on the other side, talks about Satoru in such adoration, power, sweetness, and love. The other may lack words, the other may have said too much but they both share that feeling of warmth and love.

Suguru used to see the word love as bad and bruised, he thought that love would be a curse but man, he was wrong. If love was a curse? Why does he feel safe whenever he stays at Satoru’s arms? If love is bad and bruised then why does Satoru is everything that he wanted and more? His peace, his warmth, his hope and his person that he can call as home, that’s Satoru for Suguru, but asking Satoru about his beloved favorite sweet which is Suguru is something that even a small being can’t stand: he would go on and on and on, Like he is creating a new meaning to the word ‘cloud-nine’.

This is their form of love, it’s not a shade of blue nor any amount of shade of blue can ever reach their form of love because it was not a shade of blue or even a red string of fate: this form of love is filled with comfort and a safe place. Such sweet remarks from the lover, such a sweet dream that you have in every season, such warmth in this cold world. How sweet it is, too sweet in fact. So, how does this kind of sweetness lead to this….

October 31st:

And on this ground, Satoru already forgot how sweet Suguru’s love once felt in his fingertips, Satoru seemed to forget that he already holds the man’s hand for eternity and yet, here he is staring at the man he once called his favorite sweet. There, watches the man he calls a safe place--that was his safe place slowly become his nightmare. Indeed, love is bad and bruised, Suguru once knew that and now Satoru has begun to feel familiar why love is a curse, without a doubt, he forgot that even sweet’s have an aftertaste.

“Good night Gojo Satoru. Let’s meet again in the new world.”
