Chapter Text

Okay friends and fools here we go I got this spurring of an idea whilst talking to a friend and decided to do it.

First off I'll list the fools that are siblings and then if they have a significant other who it is.

Varian-Hugo
Rapunzel-Eugene
Yong
Nuru
Keira
Catalina
Cassandra

Siblings on the left boyfs on the right now I might make OC's for those who have been left out. But for now it's safe to assume everyone is adopted except raps and Varian cause we all love the freckled siblings and it fuels me. So Varian and Rapunzel are bio siblings I wanna throw a big one and say Keira Catalina and Yong are related but I'll pick that later.

For now Varian and Hugo aren't together in the beginning but they do become a couple after a bit. Rapunzel and Eugene are a couple and these guys father will be Fredrick and yes that means Arianna is dead sadly. Varian will be most likely taking the place of Genevieve but things will be different in a sense.

Other things y'all should know is that I'll probably decide that Varian is trans at some point in this, I'll edit this when I decide those things and I'll add things In the tags.

Baby blue eyes scanned down the pages of the story book that rested on his lap. While he was more of a scientist then he desired to believe in fairy tales, this one was the only fable he let get as close to his heart as he had. It was his favorite since he turned 5 and his mom read it to him the first time. A small and sad chuckle escaped him as he reminisced. He knew he tended to pull away when this day came around and he would just sit and reminisce about the past. A noise drew him from his thoughts as the familiar smell of black powder filled his nose as his younger brother walked into his line of sight.
"Hey var" He said shyly as if trying to not set off one of his experiments.
"Hey Yong" A small chuckle left his lips at his younger brother's tentativeness. He patted the spot next to him on the stone. Yongs eyes light up at that and he was sitting beside him in a flash and he says "Are you reading the story mom used to read?"
"Yeah, I can't remember how many times did she get to read it to you?"
"only once before she started getting sick. So I don't really remember it"
Varian got a small smile and nudged him gently with his elbow. "want me to read it to you?"
Yongs eyes lit up like fireworks as he nodded his head with excitement sitting close to his older brother. Varian scooted closer to his brother before he opened the book to the beginning again.
"The princess danced on the stones, all twelve, spinning three times on the last stone. As she did it opened a magical portal opened it lead to a beautiful golden pavilion where she could dance to her hearts content. She found that there were magical flowers that could grant wishes, and water that could heal any ailment. She went for three nights before finding out after the third night that the magical world had dissapeared."
As he read he used the hand actions and different voices their mom used to use and when they finished yong jumped up and tugged Varian with him.
"Wait what happened to the world!"
"I don't know that's the end of the story"
"Dance with me, show me how to do the dance in the book! And don't say you don't know how because I've watched you do it before! please please please please!"
Varians thoughts of saying no dissolved at his younger brother's energy and excitement to learn the dance he had taken a year to learn and kept to himself. It warmed his heart and he decided to fall in and show him the dance. Just like he used to do with his mom years ago. He never stopped practicing it so doing it with someone else after years of only doing it alone made him feel a little more whole and complete than he had in years. As he moved to stand in the stone circle in the middle of the garden. He got into the first position for the dance and Yong tried to mimic it but had a little bit of a struggle before he got it and once he did he looked at Varian who got I to the next form of the dance and Yong copied it with difficulty. Varian showed Yong all the steps slowly before saying "Okay let's try it again all at once?" Smiling with a glow in his eyes the family hadn't seen in ages. Yong nodded his head enthusiastically as he tried to do the dance fumbling but he gets through it and Varian smiles and applauds him. Yong then says "You do it I wanna see you do it!" Varian sighs and fumbles out excuses before he got a glared at and he sighed before giving in and going through the dance losing himself in the steps that he didn't notice Yong joining him until he had taken his hands. Varian smiles and they began to break out into laughter. After some time they ended up tripping over their own feet and laughing on the ground before Varian noticed the sun and said "Do you think we should head in for dinner?"
"Yeah if not dad'll send the guard after us."
"Yeah and we wouldn't want dad to freak out"
"No we wouldn't"

Chapter Text

After arriving ten minutes late to dinner to find everyone already there and waiting Varian calls out
"Sorry dad, we got distracted and lost track of time, but we're here now" Yong trailing into the room after him and taking his seat next to nuru.
"That's alright son come sit I've had the chef prepare something special for us today" That got everyone's attention as they looked around trying to figure out what he could've possibly made and what the special occasion was. They all knew what today was but he seemed to be in a reminiscent mood rather than distant and sad. Varian took his seat between Rapunzel and Cass, the former who gave him a soft smile and rubbed his knuckles as she has done since they lost their mom. The latter gave him a subtle smile before saying "What made you lose track of time Var?"
"He He, uhhhh well I was out in the garden reading like I normally do, and uhh, well yongs came out and I offered to read the story to him so we did then after he wanted to learn the dance and since I uhh…ya know learned it…I was technically the only one able to do it in that moment so I did and then we got distracted enjoying ourselves and ended up losing track of time"
The older girls looked at him gently and smiled at him softly before the servers came out placing the food trays in front of each of the Royal kids. As the trays lids got lifted off the smell of one of their moms favorite dishes filled the air and they all turned to their dad and he smiled at them softly
"I thought it would be a happy memory to relive and enjoy this day" The children all smiled at him and Rapunzel stood up and gave him a tight and happy hug. Before the family began to eat. Once dinner was over the children filed out of the dining room towards the common area that connected their rooms together. Varian moves to his usual spot and comfy seat in the room before Rapunzel walks over and sits next to him.
"So when we're you gonna tell me you also learned the dance"
"well I uhh never…… wait are you saying you learned it too?"
"Well I am the oldest besides Cass and Cass knows it as well she just doesn't like anyone to know that"
"Well I uhh...well I learned it after mom died…it was my way of getting closer to her. Seemed like the only way of doing that"
"oh Varian…… here come on we can dance together" While pulling him to stand up and towards the center of the room.
"I uh but wait what why no please I don't" Before he can say anymore Rapunzel is pulling him through the steps of the dance. After some time he melted and joined in, not messing it up on purpose. It felt like the right way to end the day.
