Chapter 1: New Beginnings

Chapter Text

"go on, introduce yourself."

A red haired boy stood in front of the class. He nervously fidgeted with his fingers as he looked down at his feet.

"uh hi, I'm Reki Kyan."

The room was filled with a long awkward silence. Langa looked up from the page he was doodling on and observed the unfamiliar face, with interest

"is that all?"

Another long pause.

"well, I'm from Okinawa, Japan."

The room was again filled with a heavy silence.

"Is that all?" the teacher asked unknowing what else to say.

Reki turned to face the teacher,

"was that bad?"

The teacher looked down and scratched his neck, nervously.

"not bad per-se.."

__________

"A new student? And he's half Japanese?"

A low voice was heard from behind a counter. Dozens of snowboards varying in sizes hung from the wall, Along with countless ski poles. Shelves and cases were piled with ski goggles, helmets and other protective gear. Posters of snowboarders, and advertisements were dotted around the walls. The shop was awfully colourful compared to the layers upon layers of colourless snow surrounding it.

A pretty boy with ice blue hair walked out from the 'STAFF ONLY' room, two large boxes in hand, a few snowboards were held under his arm.

"Langa! Put the boxes there and take the boards out to the warehouse out back. Those ones need to be delivered tonight!"

Langa hummed in response, gently placing the large boxes onto the ground. He pushed the door open with his foot, he held the large boards under his arms struggling at their size and weight. He walked out the shop, the boards blocking his line of view. Unable to see where he was walking, a small pile of snow sent the boy flying forward.

"Oww,"

Langa fell face first into the frozen solid snow, he rubbed his forehead and sighed. He noticed that all but one of the boards were beside him, frantically looking around, he saw the board slowly sliding forward, towards a boy, his back facing langa.

"Hey, you! Can you catch that for me!" Langa asked, the boy turned around and picked up the large board.

"Snowboard?"

Langa looked up to thank the boy, suddenly realising who it was.

"Hi Reki, thanks for getting the board." Langa thanked the redhead. Reki stood paused for a minute, tilting his head, slightly confused.

"You don't remember me? I'm Langa from your class. I help out at my dad's Ski shop over there. " the blue haired boy finally said, pointing over at the shop he'd just left.

"Oh, ok,"

Reki looked at the board admiring it for a bit,

"I'd show you a bit of my snowboarding but I can't right here you know, if you want we can go over there and I can show you." the boy smiled as he stumbled over his words, seeing how interested Reki was in the board he couldn't help but ask.

"of course we don't have too, I just thought-"

"OK, Let's go." Reki said, cutting Langa off. Reki's eyes glew up for a moment, out of excitement.

"OK, let's go." Langa said, a smile beginning to form on his face.

________

Langa borrowed a bike from the shop. He grabbed his board and strapped it onto his back, he also put on a helmet, and had a pair of goggles dangling from his neck.

"Let's go Reki, Hop on."

Reki was hesitant at first but eventually got onto the bike, he held onto langa's waist, the board being the only thing separating the two,

"Hold on tight!"

Langa sped through the snow, causing Reki to cling onto him even harder. They drove through the snow, violently pushing the wind out of their way. Reki caught a glimpse of Langa's face, his eyes were sparkling, he smiled into the sky, his hair playfully flapping around with the wind, highlighted under the sun. He looked so. Beautiful.

"We're here Reki."

Reki snapped out of his thoughts and looked around. There was nothing but thick blankets of heavy snow, some trees were seen in the distance but not much else. The little area where the shop was could also be seen. The large area was mostly empty, maybe a few hills and ramps of snow were seen, otherwise, there was nothing, nothing at all.

Langa took the board off of his back, he placed it onto the ground. He walked over to one of the small hills dragging the board behind him. Reki watched as he did so. Langa secured his feet to the board once he reached the top of the hill. Pulling up his goggles, he positioned himself to jump.

Langa flung himself high into the air, spinning in the process, his board landed perfectly onto the ground, partials of snow flew up to the sky due to the impact. Langa's board shot forward full speed, skiing to one of the highest ramps he projected upwards. It looked as if time had slowed down. Langas posture, the position on the board. Everything. The rays of the sun bounced off langa highlighting all of his features, framing his face perfectly. Langa was really a God.

"Amazing."
