Balance was key in any universe and as Aleski learned after his love's mind and soul got twisted against him… not only was balance hard to match, balance of power, balance of life and balance of love… it was even harder to keep. Harder to hold steady along the storm cutting between them, harder for them to hold onto and do more than survive their afterlife.
Together, Caleb had promised.
They would be together forever, in life and in death. No matter where they were they'd always have each other.
Until He came into their lives.
Aleski could remember it like it was yesterday, though it happened in 1983, and he hasn't seen his husband in almost a century Aleski can remember Him.
The man, who claimed to go by so many names he didnt think to give them one. When he spoke the shadows bent to his will, and nightmares roared in Aleski's mind at night and he knew that the Old Man was bad news. Bad for them, but more importantly bad for Caleb. Because Aleski knew his husband, and Caleb at heart, was a showman. That's who he fell in love with all those years ago, back when they both had hearts to love. So, when the Old Man said Covington, I got an offer that you can't refuse , something about the web of lies and the still in the storm raging around them never settled quite right with Aleski…
And then he went home one day, home to the Orpheum… and waited.
And he waited some more.
Then he realized, the next time he saw the Old Man and he had a glint in his eyes Aleski couldn't quite bring himself to trust… he realized Caleb had made a deal. And well, no matter what was going to happen they said their vows and they were married , and at that moment Aleski knew he would do whatever it took to get his husband back. To get his love and his life and his heart back to him.
So he waited another few years until a new band popped up on his radar, a new sound. Four boys in a rock band, with more power and potential than they possibly understood. Than they will understand.
Aleski knows how important the balance of the universe is, how important life and death's teetering seesaw must be weighed equal. And so he knew, though all four boys had potential, and all four boys would be more powerful than separating them… Aleski knew. The balance had to be kept, and he had to get his love back.
