Notes:

Hello people from AO3! I've been away of writing fanfiction for a while, but this idea came to my mind and I jut could not resist! Since english is not my first language, I'll try to post weekly, to make sure I proofread and correct the text as much as I can! But please, have a little patience with me ^^
Just one more thing, for those of you who still hadn't listened to the Cindereki's cd, all you need to know to understand this chapter is that in the end, the story was all a Reki's dream. This is relevant cause we're picking up right after he wakes up!

Well that's it! Hope you enjoy it!

Chapter 1: Dreamy, no pun intended.

Chapter Text

Since he woke up in the middle of the night, Reki had been unable to get those images out of his head. From the path between the twins' room and his own, the scenes kept running through his head, like a low-budget parody directed and produced by his unconscious mind.

The prince's pale, icy hands held his, full of calluses from doing household chores. Promises of a happy future, in a distant kingdom, where the two would be together for infinity.

Head on the pillow, eyes more than open, chance to go back to sleep almost at 0%. Despite being usually hyperactive, what had driven his crazy brain to invent all that?...

What if the nosy narrator hadn’t messed everything up? All the stories he read to the twins ended in a happy ending, where the couple shared a kiss of true love. Would he have the courage to do it? To kiss that sweet stranger, that looked all over the kingdom to find him, a simple servant boy?

The next morning, his restlessness didn’t go away. Shouldn't we forget like 80% of our dreams after waking up? So why did the story seemed even fresher in his memory?

"Reki, breakfast is ready!" His mother called from the kitchen, but his redhead was still completely glazed over a single question.

Why the hell had he dreamed of marrying a prince version of Langa ??????

His feet moved the skateboard in an automatic, controlled motion, negatively correlated with the mess that was on his mind. Luckily, Langa had an appointment with his mother that Saturday or he would be there, beside him. The wind would mess up his light hair, the sun would reflect in his blue eyes, making his skin look even clearer ... Okay, not even such a mushy dream could take the blame for this current mental monologue. In short, before the thought trail continued, it was good that Langa was not here (a phrase that Reki never thought he would think). But he needed to clear up everything within his cognitive mess, and fast. Monday was a school day after all, and Langa would be able to notice something wrong with him in 0.4757 seconds. He had panicked with the absence of a greeting, imagine if Reki couldn’t look him in the face!

"C'mon God. I would trade my headband for a miracle if you like. Just help me out a little!" He murmured, not paying attention to the way ahead until he noticed a familiar pink hair. "Thanks! You can pick it up whenever you want, my dude!" Huh, good thing that spirit creatures apparently liked hair accessories.

How perfect could a Saturday be? Kaoru breathed a sigh of relief, a pleasant breeze cooling his skin. He was sitting in the park, listening to the birds singing after a successful work meeting (who said that working on Saturday would lead to nothing? Only lazy people, that’s who). Maybe he would have a nice lunch to celebrate, he could make that stupid gorilla serve him a fancy wine. But for now, he just wanted to enjoy that moment of peace and quie………

"CHERRY!!! MAN, WHAT A PERFECT TIMING !!" And his doctor still had the audacity to ask why he was already developing wrinkles.

"How many times will I repeat it to not be using that name outside of you know where, kid." Kaoru complained between clenched teeth, holding the teenager by his sweatshirt until getting nasty looks from some transients. With a sigh, he sat back down, reluctantly accepting his new company.

"My bad, I always forget! But I was needing some advice and ended up finding you. Doesn't it seem like destiny?" Is it my destiny to be miserable? The older one thought while Reki seemed to reconsider something in his own head. "The a-advice is not for me though. It’s for a friend, a girl friend of mine."

"Friend? And why don't you ask the green-haired primate? He would love to know about female friends." A girl? Huh, it looks like the theories about him and Snow were wrong, after all.

"You know what Joe is like, he talks a lot of nonsense when it comes to women hahaha hahaha." The uncomfortable laugh made the whole situation seem even stranger. What the hell did that kid want? "So ... This friend of mine Re ... Renna! Renna-chan is going through a difficult situation with her best friend La ... Lanna! And she asked for my advice on the topic since you know, I’m a nice guy." Oh. So the theories were true, after all. Of course, they were. Kaoru could recognize a couple of stupid teenagers in love when he saw one. But why the hell did he have to be in the middle of this afternoon drama script??

"What is it?" To avoid drawing more attention to them, Kaoru decided to listen to the story. At least it was inside information.

"I- Renna-chan had a dream where she was a princess and the best friend was the prince, and they were going to get married and everything ... And then she started to realize that she really likes Lanna's company and that maybe the dream wants to say something that she doesn't have the guts to assume. Not that she's a coward! But you know how Lang- how people are! Lanna can react badly and they would fight again ... After all, what if Renna- chan likes ... The best friend? " When Reki finished speaking there was almost no oxygen left in his lungs, and he was sure that his face was redder than his hair. Cherry must have found it all very weird, shouldn't he? Even for a weird old man like him??

"Dreams are just uncontrolled brain activity from our unconscious minds, so your..." Friend" shouldn't be so concerned. But if she really likes her friend, so what?" The adult shrugged, checking the time on his cell phone.

"But they are two guys- I mean girls!"

"If her determination is so weak as to be influenced by something like that, then maybe she should give up at once. It would save everyone’s time and energy." Kaoru stood up, wiping dust off his kimono.

"Maybe she just doesn't want to talk about something so serious without being sure... They are best friends, after all, it's important."

"So why doesn't she try some mental exercises or something? Not in a dream, imagine how she would feel being close to that person as more than friends." The boy seemed reasonably satisfied with the random, great advice. "I'm going to have lunch now, and don't follow me. You have used my goodwill too much."

"Okay, okay. Say hi to Joe for me." Reki teased, even knowing he was poking a beast.

"Sure. Say hi to Snow for me, even if it's when you go to sleep." Kaoru went on his way quietly, leaving the teenager completely embarrassed behind.

"You really are an evil half-sister!!"

In the perfect little chat world, at least the feeling of normalcy could prevail.

Reki: how was it with ur mom? Everything is OK? (˚▽˚)

Langa: yes, we only needed a few things for the house. And you Reki? How was your day?

Reki: normal hahaha I went for a walk around the center, but it was bland with no one to talk to. Its also impossible to do any cool tricks with so many people passing by. Weekends blergh ಠ~ಠ

Langa: oh I understand

Langa: why don't we go out tomorrow then? But I am still not 100% since the dispute with Adam .-.

Reki: I know it doesn't look like it, but I can do other things besides skateboarding

Reki: have u ever been to the cinema here? There's a cool movie playing now

Langa: sounds good

Langa: see you tomorrow then Reki ^^ By the station sounds good?

Reki: yup

Reki: see ya dude

Great, now he had one day less to recover from that stupid dream. Which meant following Cherry's absurd idea and imagining dating Langa.

What could go wrong, huh?
