Work Text:

Kakyoin slowly opened his eyes. The sunlight was already illuminating most of the room, but it wasn't bright enough to bother his eyes. The boy just sat on the bed, covering himself as much as possible with the blanket to prevent the breezes of fresh air entering the room from passing under his pajamas, which were clothing far too light for that time of year.
As a matter of fact, that trip to Egypt had been sudden, and Kakyoin hadn't been able to prepare properly. Those pajamas were the only thing he could sleep in.
He looked around, and noticed Avdol still sleeping on the pillow snoring loudly.
When he was about to get up, rubbing his eyes, he heard shots outside the window.
He didn't worry in the least, since they were in an isolated area and Jotaro had already mentioned him his particular training.

In fact, as Kakyoin expected, when he reached Jotaro he wasn't using a gun. Sometimes the redhead struggled to realize that Jotaro and himself were only seventeen, and therefore by law they could not legally own a gun. But in that moment what sense did it make to think about laws anymore? They had literally killed people, act without saying anything to anyone, even to their own relatives.
His flow of thoughts was interrupted by another shot, followed by a shatter of glass of a bottle of booze. He stopped to admire the boy coldly instructing his stand, placing a bullet between his fingers and then indicating him where to shoot.
When another bullet was shot at high speed and hit the other bottle placed on the wall, Kakyoin exclaimed: "Oh, cool!"
Jotaro, followed by Star Platinum, turned to the boy.
"Did I wake you up?" Jotaro asked, spinning another bullet among his fingers.
"No, I woke up alone."
Jotaro nodded, as a sign that, if he wanted to, he could stay there with him.
Then, he began to explain: "I'm rusty. I missed a bottle."
Kakyoin let out a surprised grunt, then turned to notice that a bottle was still intact, with the honey-colored liquid inside it glistening in the morning sun.
He couldn't hide his astonishment, exclaiming: "Woah, that's far!"
Moving his gaze slightly he noticed the scratch on Jotaro's dark uniform, which had been caused a few days earlier by an enemy stand. He was sure he could still see the blood and the not completely healed wound under it, so he asked, taking a few steps closer to see better: "How is your shoulder? Are you sure you can make certain efforts?"
Jotaro adjusted his hat, turning back to the wall: "It's just a scratch. Nothing serious."
"Woah, you're tough." Kakyoin let out a laugh.

"Do you want to try?"
"Uh!?"
Jotaro sought his gaze, hiding his face behind his shoulder in position to shoot from his stand.
His blue eyes shone, when moving his head slightly the visor of his hat no longer prevented the sun from reflecting in his eyes: "You can shoot, if you want."
"Really?" Kakyoin approached him enthusiastically, and Jotaro handed him a bullet.
The older moved a few steps to get him into place, and Kakyoin summoned his stand.
"It's not hard," Jotaro began, showing the redhead what position he should take.
Kakyoin unconsciously, probably from the fear of having a real bullet in his hand, bent his knees forward, trembling, assuming a rather funny and clumsy position, but Jotaro just looked at him sympathetically, limiting any comment.
His stand, imitating his movements, placed the cold bullet between his fingers, and together looked at the bottle on the wall, trying to aim.
"Come on, put your back into it." Jotaro sighed, with no intention of hurrying or scolding him.
He approached him, and firmly placed a hand on his partner's shoulder holding him to his chest: "Hold the grip tighter", and using the other arm to offer him a support for stability, he slid it from the arm to the back of the hand, resting his thumb on his wrist. Kakyoin couldn't help but notice how cold his hand was compared to his, but he didn't let himself get out of focus.
"They're magnum cartridges, if you're not careful you might hurt your wrist."
Kakyoin felt the presence of the non-existent bullet between his fingers being moved slowly by Star Platinum, accompanied by an almost whispered: "Don't worry about wind resistance at this distance." The bullet stopped, it was in place. "Aim well, and ..."
Kakyoin tucked his thumb behind the bullet, and concentrating with all his determination he shot, jerking slightly because of the recoil.
The echo of the shot slowly fainted, and Kakyoin regaining stability lowered his hands to look at the wall. The bottle was still there.
He sighed, but Jotaro immediately intervened: "Not bad."

"Hey!" The two turned.
kakyoin greeted warmly: "Joestar-san! Jotaro-kun was teaching me how to shoot."
Joseph chuckled, approaching them in large strides: "Ah, I saw it! Breakfast is ready. Go wake up Polnareff."
"Ok!" Kakyoin recalled his stand and, making a quick nod to Jotaro, he ran back indoors.
As soon as Kakyoin was out of sight, Joseph's face changed dramatically, and Jotaro noticed it.
With a mocking tone, he asked, "What is it? You don't want me to teach him how to shoot?"
Joseph ran two fingers through his beard: "No, it's not that."
And then sighed: "You two are so different. Your past, too."
Jotaro seemed irritated by that statement, and grabbed a handful of bullets: "You will have your reasons, but you often treat him like a child. Even though he is the youngest and had a difficult childhood, he must be able to stand up for himself." and ignoring Joseph's explicit grunt of dissent, he aimed again.
"In Japan, from what I know, I don't think guns are needed to defend yourselves."
Another loud bang, and finally that bottle too was on the ground in a thousand scraps, and the liquid quickly spread over the ground.
"But we're not in Japan here." And Jotaro turned, about to leave: "Try saying that when someone points a gun to your head, or" and walked over until Joseph's ears could feel Jotaro's breath on his skin: "when DIO will try to kill all of us. "
