Kenny had everything planned for today, he was to meet you at the park, take you to somewhere nice to eat and maybe if he was lucky you would return his feelings when he asked you out. Even though the man would never admit it, he was really nervous about the situation.
He couldn't believe himself really, a man capable of bringing down the most dangerous criminals while on duty not being able to ask out the person he liked without becoming a hot mess on the spot.
Even his 8 year old nephew was able to talk to that one boy he liked from his class without breaking a sweat, sometimes Kenny thought that made him inferior to a child, even if his sister always denied that and told him that he shouldn't worry about things like that.
Kenny cursed to himself, he was already dressed up and ready to go out when Kuchel suddenly appeared on his house asking if he could watch over Levi for the day, a co-worker of hers wasn't able to come to work and she needed to cover up for him.
Of course the man couldn't say no to his sister, or the look Levi had given him when Kenny opened the door, a tiny smile on his pale face, happy to spend some time with his favorite (and only) uncle.
Now sitting on the living room in his house with Levi coloring some drawing he wondered if he should give you a call to cancel the meeting, though it would really be a shame and he could already picture the disappointment on your voice. Kenny can't do that to you, if it was another person he would cancel the plan with no regrets to spend some quality time with Levi.
But it wasn't another person, it was you "hey kid, wanna go to the park for a while?" he asked the boy, who nodded and got up to grab his shoes and bag "let's hope it goes well..." Kenny muttered to himself as he grabbed a few things.

"Are you gonna ask (name) if they want to date you uncle?" asked the small kid walking next to the man, who looked down at him while laughing nervously "who gave you that idea little man? Was it that Erwin kid from school?" Kenny asked trying to change the conversation "no, it was mom"
On his mind, Kenny cursed his sister for telling Levi about his not so little crush on (Name), you two had met one Saturday at a bar, he was only there because a couple of friends from work had invited him, but he couldn't have been more grateful for that.
While his friends were inside he had gone out to get a bit of fresh air and clear his head after being there for a long time, he usually didn't mind the strong smell of alcohol but all the noise from the customers inside was driving him crazy tonight.
As creepy as it sounded, you had been watching him for a while on the bar, there was something about the mysterious man that just made you want to know more about him, so after a bit of thinking you went after him and met him outside. "Not too fond of crowded places I assume?" you had asked, you remember how he looked at you with a tired look on his face.
Soon enough, a conversation started, you both talked about whatever was on your mind at that time and even though Kenny never told you, he swore his heart skipped a beat when he heard you laugh at something he had said, it was then when Kenny knew he wanted to hear it again, he wanted to see you again.
Even though you had to leave some time later, the man got your number and the promise of meeting you again at the same time tomorrow, you left with a smile on your face.
Kenny's friends, who he had temporarily forgotten came out of the bar laughing after having too many drinks "come on Kenny! Let's get going!" one of them had said while leaning on his friend's shoulder. They left the place, and even after going home and to bed his mind would only think back to you.

Kenny arrived at the park a few minutes earlier and was surprised to see you sitting on a bench reading something on your phone, you looked good just like always.
They both walked up to you "yo (Name), you're a bit early today" the man said with a smile, you looked up recognizing his voice "Kenny! Good to see you" you said returning the small gesture to him.
Then you looked at the kid next to him "and you must be Levi right?" he blushed a little and hid behind one of Kenny's legs gripping the fabric of his jeans, the man laughed and set a hand on top of his nephew's head messing up his raven hair "he's a bit shy with new people" Kenny explained smirking looking at you with those beautiful greyish eyes you loved so much.
Getting up from the bench you went next to the man and put a hand on his shoulder "that's too bad, I guess he won't be able to choose his flavor of ice cream" you said in a slightly teasing way, hearing that Levi gasped a little before leaving his 'hiding' place and looking up at you "n-no, I want ice cream too!" the little one said with a small blush on his pale cheeks.
Laughing a bit you set a hand on his head "don't worry Levi, you will get one too" you told him and smiled at how cute he was, just like Kenny had told you a few times.
"Uncle Kenny is right! Your smile is so pretty!" he looking at you, said man had a noticable blush on his face while he tried to avoid your gaze "oh Kenny, that's so sweet" you said hugging his side, he smelled like mint and this one brand of cologne you couldn't recognize right now.
After the small chat, you three went to an ice cream parlor and ordered some of the cold treat for both you and Levi, Kenny insisted that he would eat some of yours instead of asking for one just for himself "how's yours Levi? All good?" the man asked looking at his nephew, who was quietly enjoying his vanilla ice cream.
"Yeah, it's very good" he answered softly, even if Levi coming to the small hang out was not planned, Kenny was happy his nephew was enjoying himself, it looked like you were too and he couldn't ask for anything else than that.
A few seconds later you were blushing a little, the small spoon in your hand filled with your favorite flavor of ice cream, you really want to feed Kenny some of it but you're worried he might not like the idea.
Almost as he could read your thoughts, Kenny looked at the sweet treat in the spoon and then at you "say, how about you give me some of that?" he asked with a smirk, you smiled a little before placing the spoon near his mouth, the man gladly let you feed him the ice cream "oh, this one tastes nice" Kenny said after you put the spoon down again.

The date in the ice cream parlor was great, you all had a good time and that got Kenny in a good mood "uncle, can I go to that playground over there?" Levi asked pointing at the place, there were a few kids playing here and there and some going down on a slide taking turns.
"Of course you can Le, we'll be on the bench near the swings" Kenny said taking his nephew's bag so he could go play with the other kids "he's such a sweetheart, I'm sure he'll grow to be a great man" you told him leaning your head on his shoulder, this time Kenny set his hand on top of yours and held it "yeah, he will"
Kenny knew it was now or never, the moment he had been preparing for was right here "(name)..." the man said with a soft voice, your heart sped up a little when you heard the man calling you, his grip on your hand tightened a bit "I...I've been wanting to ask you for a long time now, but it's only today that I got the courage to do it"
You lift up your head from his shoulder to look at him, he turns to look at you, Kenny takes your other hand with his own free one and holds both of them "you've been in my mind ever since I met you and I can't imagine being without you so...will you go out with me?" he said it, everything he's been wanting to tell you from the beginning.
You smile at him "do you have any idea of how long I've been waiting for you to say that?" his hands go from yours to your face, he leans in and kisses you, it's short but sweet besides, he will have plenty of time to enjoy your lips when you are both alone at his place.
After parting he takes your hands in his again and flashes you one of his charming smiles "we should have a date soon, just the two of us" Kenny said, his eyes were so full of love you just had to give him a peck on the lips.
"Huh? You're not letting me go with you?" you both heard Levi say in front of the bench, turning you head towards him you both wonder just how long has he been standing there gripping the end of his t-shirt with his hands.
Hearing that, Kenny pulled him into a hug and rubbed his cheek against Levi's in an affectionate way "don't be jealous Levi, you know uncle Kenny loves you very much too!" he said while the raven haired kid tried to get away "your ugly beard is hurting my pretty face!" he said and looked you for help.
You couldn't help but laugh watching the two of them "come on now Kenny, don't be mean to the poor boy" you said making the man stop, he chuckled before pulling you into a hug instead "you're lucky (Name) is here Le, or else you wouldn't have been spared from my affection" Kenny joked.
This was probably the best date you've ever had, Kenny was a gentleman and even walked you home after dropping off Levi at Kuchel's house.
With one last kiss at your doorstep, Kenny left to go back home feeling accomplished. You're really the loveliest person he's ever met.
