Work Text:
Harry always had constantly trembling hands after the Battle of Hogwarts, and Hermione had suggested the possibility of trauma. Whenever he was around his friends, however, he felt warm and safe. Protected, like he was far away from his trauma and his hands shaking.
When he visited Ron and Hermione, he felt the oddness, he saw the quick looks between the two, he noticed the quick kisses they gave each other when they thought he wasn't looking. He felt left out. Forgotten.
He wanted to be with them, he wanted to belong with them, but they just fit so well with each other, so seamlessly you would wonder why they fought years ago at Hogwarts. It was better to just stay on the sidelines, no matter how much he hated it, no matter how much he wished he could be apart of that closeness.
On the sidelines, he was safe to watch, to long, to hope, to not face ridicule if he said his feelings, to dream.
