"It takes two to tango"

Summary:

Hwang Hyunjin lives in a country called Bibury. He doesn't seem to need anything other than a tape recorder or gramophone to be fully happy but it's hard timing for having those things.
Minho's family has to move from Cirencester to Bibury. Minho had everything he wanted in town but hard timing hits his family as well as the whole of England in the 19th century.
Minho's trying not to die from boredom in the country. Maybe Hyunjin can be a little help for him. And Minho might have something Hyunjin craves secretly.
"It takes two to tango"- you have to give something to someone to take something from them.

Notes:

HELLO! I'm totally new to this, I just love Hyunho very much and I decided to write about them even though it might be nothing special but I promise that no one will die in the end. I hope you'll like it, I want to write a large fiction because there aren't many of them about Hyunho. And also English isn't my first language and I'm sorry for all of my mistakes in advance, I try not to make many of them BUT STILL I'M SORRY I'M REALLY NEW TO THIS. Not everything written here might be historically true and also characteristics of both idols are based on my imagination. Hope you'll look forward to it! SEE YOU NEXT TIME!

Chapter 1: Boredom

Chapter Text

Bibury, one of the most beautiful countries in England. Who wouldn’t like to live in this place? But in the 19th century, England was busy having wars against its colonies so life was tough here those days. Locals of Bibury were trying their best to live as much peacefully as possible.

There were many teenagers here in Bibury. Despite the wars, they enjoyed their lives. Hwang Hyunjin was one of them, he enjoyed his life more than anything. His family wasn’t really rich but they still managed to buy him painting supplies so he could sit in a picturesque view of his country and draw all he wanted. Hyunjin liked to dance as well. But yet he was still shy to do it in front of anyone. Hyunjin was clever with his hands he could make an amazing flower crown. Many of the girls liked him but due to the boy’s shy personality, they couldn't manage to get close enough to have any kind of love relationship with him. Hyunjin himself didn’t really want to have one. He was 19 years old, still young enough to have significant other. At least he considered so and his family wouldn’t force him to marry as soon as possible. Hyunjin was an only child, he couldn’t tell that he had a lack of sibling but it wouldn’t be bad either to have one because he was a quiet and peaceful person and the only thing, he wanted to have was someone very close to him as a friend to share his feelings and even practice in dance with them. So far, he couldn’t see anybody like this in his country, it was just him and himself.

Hyunjin had a horse called Marlu, she was white with grey and black dots alongside the back and at the end of the legs. Hyunjin loved horse-riding, he would run in the green fields while the weak wind was blowing in his long black hair. Peers would call him a prince because of his gracious looks and that beautiful long black hair. Hyunjin was also very much envied because of his plump lips and raindrop mole on the down left side of his eye. Hyunjin would often laugh when he’d hear some women talking to her mom about Hyunjin’s marriage, he knew that he was popular because of his looks and quiet personality but he wished he could show someone how childish and noisy he was while dancing at home when his parents were out. Hyunjin didn’t have any gramophone or tape recorder so he’d just hum the melodies he had heard when he was visiting his relatives in other countries or towns. He just loved music so much.

As it was getting harder to live in town people were moving to countries so Bibury often had new residents. Hyunjin was always so curious about new peers. He wanted to know more about towns life, maybe he’d be able to find someone interesting to get along with but most of them were so cold towards the villagers. But all of them also envied Hyunjin’s appearance. He was too attractive for girls who moved from towns, plus, they were flirtier and they’d often bother Hyunjin with their curious looks and flirty smiles. Hyunjin often refused to go out just because of the hungry looks on him. Hyunjin had to hide the horse and managed to take her out of the country so the girls won’t see him riding a horse and start to find out new ways to flirt with him. Hyunjin wanted to be loved because of who he was on the inside not only from the outside. Half of his “admirers” wouldn’t even know his name.

Once Hyunjin was lying in his bed, sleeping peacefully on a beautiful spring day. It was early to get up yet but the sound of carets and horses woke him up. He lazily got up and went to the window to see what was happening in the early morning. Well, new residents again. Hyunjin hoped that there wasn’t any other crazy girl who would stick around him all day. He couldn’t see who they were because they just went through the way and continued it. He would find out it later.

"Jinnie, sweetie...wake up " someone was shaking Hyunjin gently"dad needs your help, will you be happy if he won’t be able to do his job? "mom teasingly whispered these words to her son’s ears and smiled down at the boy as he lazily opened his eyes and set up.

"Where am I supposed to go, mom? " he asked as he was putting his clothes on.

"well, new residents moved here over the hill and he decided to help them so that we can have a good relationship with them, plus, they might, you know, give him some money for his help. People moving from town are way richer than anyone here" she sighed and went down the stairs with Hyunjin to have breakfast.

Hyunjin was in a good mood. He loved spring he loved happy noises of nature during this season. He loved making flower crown and he loved the scent of blossomed trees. The day was sunny Hyunjin wore just blue little bit oversized shirt and black pants, his hair was a bit messy just how him and her mom loved it.

"Hi dad" he greeted his dad as he ran his eyes over the house" is there anything I can help you with?"

"I think it’s better to go inside and ask them, they’ll know better" he smiled lightly and looked at his son.

"Oh don’t tell me that they want to introduce me to their daughter, that’s an old trick dad! " Hyunjin huffed and pursed his lips a little bit.

"No, they turned out to be like us," he stopped and laughed" not in a financial way, of course, they only have a son so you can go and make friends with him. They seem nicer than any others before."

Hyunjin looked curiously at the front side of the house as he went closer to the door. It was open because the servants and employees were bringing some furniture in. Hyunjin looked into the room slightly and let out a little “hello”.

A man and a woman, probably new residents looked at him in interest.

"hi, dear" the woman answered as she gestured him to come in "who are you?"

"umm," Hyunjin was not used to talking to townspeople, he patted his neck" my dad went to help you," he pointed his finger out of the door"I'm his son."

"So you are Hyunjin?" the woman smiled wider " You are so naturally beautiful, just like your father described, it sounded more like a praising your own child but you really turned out to be that gracious" she laughed warmly and slightly as he turned to her husband who was also smiling at the boy.

"Where’s Minnie? " she asked her husband.

"Don’t call him like this in front of others or he will kill us for sure " he laughed" he is upstairs, maybe he tries to arrange his room."

Hyunjin felt awkward- he was supposed to help them.

"Maybe I should help you instead, I don’t want to bother him or you" he smiled softly.

"You can help him and get to know him, Hyunjin. You are always welcome here and you seem so nice you won’t bother any of us, trust me" the man smiled.

After they guided him to Minnie's room Hyunjin gently knocked on the slightly opened door.

"Who’s this?" voice came out as something fell on the carpet."Soonie I told you to be careful! " the boy shouted as he came close to the door and opened it in no interest at first but as he saw someone different than servants he stopped and started studying his features." hey, who are you? " he asked as he continued looking at him" don't seem to be a servant."

"Hi, I’m Hyunjin, I live here" Hyunjin smiled lightly as he looked at shorter male with clearly big cat-like eyes and a sharp nose. He looked like a townsperson; his style looked rich as well as his hair and his room looked expensive "your parents told me to help you and we can get to- "

"Damn you are so sexy you know that? " the boy was surprised. Hyunjin gasped. " I bet towns girls are trying their best to get in your pants! " both laughed- Hyunjin because the boy really got his situation and the boy from amazement.
"So you are here to help me with this mess?" he smiled "okay then, first of all, meet my babies" he pointed to the cats "Soonie, Doongie and Dori."
Hyunjin wasn't really into cats but he patted three of them and looked around the room "your room seems nice."
The boy was putting small metal cars on the top of the fireplace carefully "yeah, but my room in the town was nicer."
Hyunjin understood the boy was not used to this situation here he would do more than just reading books and going for a walk. He'd have more duties. Hyunjin couldn't find many words to cheer the boy up.
"This country is very beautiful I hope that walking out in the streets and spending time in the fields will relieve your stress, nature can help more than four walls" he started to adjust the furniture.
The boy stopped in a while, smiled lightly at Hyunjin's words before finishing putting his cars collection on the top of the fireplace "I'm Minho by the way."
" Nice name, even it sounds rich" Hyunjin laughed and Minho giggled at that.
"How old are you, Hyunjin?"Minho fell on his bed with his back and put his hand palms under his neck. Hyunjin was putting books on the bookshelf, curiously looking at each of them."I'm nineteen, what about you?" he looked up to Minho.
"Awh, you are still a kid" Minho giggled "I'm 21" he sat up and bent his knees "I was a successful singer and a pianist, besides I love to dance. I'm literally a dancing gem in my team, well I was" he sighed and looked down to his knees"I'll miss it."
Hyunjin kind of felt his pain. He came near him and sat down on the fluffy carpet "I think others moved too, no one lives that happily nowadays. Once everything gets better you'll be back and so will the others. Before that, you can practise here. You have the equipment I'm sure."
"I do"Minho was staring at his shirt "but the dancing hall and teammates give off different vibes."
" I see"Hyunjin sighed, he couldn't understand but he guessed so. Doing something alone after doing it with friends( whom Hyunjin's never had before) would be boring right?
"What are your hobbies?" Hyunjin snapped out of his thoughts."hm?"
"Don't you enjoy doing anything Jin?"Minho chuckled.
"Oh, yeah, I do"Hyunjin wanted to say dancing but he knew Minho would ask him to show him and dance with him if he liked it, so he just "I love painting and horse-riding."
"Horses are scary" Minho almost shivered "I can't even get close to them."
"Almost none of the townspeople love them" Hyunjin teased the older and laughed "horses are good, you just have to be calm and patient "he smiled.
"You are really horses' type I can tell" Minho chuckled" you seem quiet and calm. You just seem" He smirked lightly.
"I've never been in the situation to act like myself in front of others" Hyunjin shrugged his shoulders" so I prefer to be like this."
"Nature doesn't seem to help" Minho smirked and chuckled while not taking his eyes off the younger.
Hyunjin huffed "Hey, of course, it does fields are the only place that know how hyped I am when I'm doing what I love."
"You have to show me them and show me everything or I'll die in this room" Minho cocked his head in annoyance.
"hey stop being overdramatic" Hyunjin smiled "you don't know a thing about that place so don't be that negative from the start" he stood up " it's been a while I think dad's about to go and so should I" he slightly stretched his arms and went slowly to the door. Minho stood up as well and went with him.
"When shall we start our TOUR?" Minho smiled whilst going down the stairs with Hyunjin.
"Whenever you wish" Hyunjin looked with a smile "tomorrow morning? or are you a typical sleepyhead townsperson?" he laughed.
"No way I'm waking up at 9 o'clock. 12 would be fine" Minho raised his hand for a shake
"Deal" Hyunjin nodded with a smile and shook hand with him. He went out of the door"see you, sleepyhead" he chuckled.
"See you calmboy" Minho smiled as he watched Hyunjin leaving, then he closed the door and went to the dining room. His parents were waiting for dinner.
"Hey, Minnie did you get along with Hyunjin?" mom asked Minho with a bright smile on his face.
Minho sat at the table with a nod "Yeah, he seems fine and interesting, I hope he won't let me die in boredom and loneliness in here" he laughed.
"Minho we have to be patient, neither I nor your father wanted to move somewhere, you know that" Minho's mom replied sadly.
"I know I'm just once again trying to cheer myself up"Minho chuckled and started eating dinner.
