Chapter Text
The entire commons was staring at the pair, varying degrees of shock, horror, and amusement on their faces. Alya’s mouth nearly hit the ground watching the exchange going on for nearly five solid minutes. Nino chuckled at his girlfriend’s shock, reminding her, “It’s not like this is the first time this week they’ve argued over this babe.”
Alya said nothing, forcing her jaw to close as Marinette turned away from the ray of sunshine. The clear scowl on the designers face wasn’t missed by a single person, nor was the huff as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“No.”
The single word echoed through the otherwise silent commons, spoken with such venom that any other person would have immediately backed down.
Well.. any person who knew just how deadly the pigtailed girl could really be. The innocent blonde cinnamon roll had become the single known person who could not be deterred under the might of their everyday Ladybug.
And he didn’t disappoint, even now. “Marineeeeeeettte, please!! I’ll do anything! I’m not asking for a lot, I just,”
“ADRIEN I SAID NO!” Marinette yelled, blue eyes burning into the forest of pleading green staring at her as though she was the taller of the two.
He fell to his knees, putting his hands together and Nino busted out laughing, the rest of the guys in their class that were scattered around joining instantly. They had all told Adrien of Marinette’s one weakness when she was being stubborn, and apparently the model was prepared to try it out in front of half their school.
“PLEASE MARI, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!” He grabbed her around the middle when she looked away, burying his face in her stomach and holding onto her tightly as she tried to pull away.
“Adrien let go! I’m not going to change my mind! The answer is NO!” Marinette said sternly, still trying to peel the obnoxious model off of her without success. His arms were like iron, and while most days she appreciated his physique, today it annoyed her to no end. “Stop being stubborn you obnoxious dork!”
“BUT I WANT IT!! I WANT IT MARINETTE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!” Adrien begged yet again, turning his eyes up to her.
Marinette froze, the glassy appearance of his eyes as they widened to an unimaginable degree, the way his lower lip puckered out into a pout as it began to tremble, and the feel of his arms tightening even further as his voice dropped to a whisper, “Please Marinette. I’ll never ask for anything ever again… please… please say yes.”
Damn it. She thought, Don’t fall for it. Don’t fall for it. It’s not going to work this time… it’s not… going to…
Adrien’s eyes got impossibly bigger, and she caved like the weakling she was.
“Fine I’ll give you the jacket.” She lamented, Adrien’s face brightening in a fraction of a second.
“REALLY!?”
She scowled at him, saying it sternly, “But I’m still not taking that ridiculous commission payment from you!”
He rubbed his face into her stomach, and she just knew that he was smirking as he did it, “You are taking at least half.”
“Adrien,” she warned, “No, I’m not.”
“You don’t have a choice.” He muttered in a sing-song voice, “It’s an MDC original, one of a kind, never to be made for anyone else ever again, Adrien Agreste exclusive…” finally letting go and getting back to his feet, he held her eyes with a seriousness that caught her off guard, “And you are going to take the payment.”
She said it loudly, hoping to deter him, “I’M NOT TAKING 5,000 EUROS FROM YOU!”
The silent commons let out a collective gasp, the whispering starting at the amount they were arguing about.
“It’s not just about the fact that you made it.” He reminded her, “I don’t want anyone else to have any version. I’m not just buying the jacket, I’m buying exclusive rights to the design itself.”
She facepalmed, “I already told you that the design isn’t for sale, but I promise not to make the jacket for anyone else. You don’t have to buy ‘exclusive rights’.” Her voice softened, and as she saw the argument starting in his eyes again, she tapped him gently on the end of his nose. “That’s enough.”
He opened his mouth to argue and she shook her head, “I’ll take 1,000 Euros if that will make you happy, but not a cent more. Even that is too much but if it will get you off my case,”
He threw his arms around her middle before she could finish and lifted her up, twirling her around happily, “THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! You’re the best, Marinette!”
She rolled her eyes, but Adrien’s smile widened as he saw the smile she was trying to hold back, “Dork.”
He had his phone out in a second, typing rapidly and ignoring her comment. “I’ll be by to pick up my jacket after fencing!”
She watched as he hurried away, her phone pinging in her purse. She pulled it out and her eyes widened at the notification. Her entire body felt like it was on fire as she screamed out at him, “AGRESTE YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! I TOLD YOU 1,000 NOT 10,000!”
Adrien’s laughter died out the instant he turned back, seeing his best friend quickly heading towards him with a vengeance.
