Work Text:
The shoot was going well. Yesung was really liking the bright vibe of it all, the song, the outfits as well as the mood on set. As they finished one of the scenes, he tried to recall when it was the last time he'd had a shoot outside during the day, especially a happy one. He didn't remember.
While he waited for the production team to adjust the set for the next scene, he sat down in the shade inside one of the tents they'd set up. He pulled his chair closer to a fan to escape a little from the heat, since he didn't want to sweat much and ruin his make up.
His makeup artist must have thought the same, since she also approached him to do a few retouches. He smiled at her for a second, and as he let her work on his face, his eyes caught a quick glimpse of three of the dancers laughing together in the distance. And it made him sigh.
Although he was happy they were having a good time, the image just made him feel a little lonely. It always happened to him during his solo promotions. It was as if without his members around, it just felt like something was missing. Still, he knew they always supported him nonetheless.
Donghae had been at the recording, Teuk had given him his opinion on each cover design and Shindong had apologized at least ten times for not being able to direct his MV this time.
And there was Hyukjae. What hadn't he done? Yesung smiled at the thought. The dancer was almost more excited about his album than he was, and of course, he had also helped where he knew best.
The younger had actually come to watch his practice with the dancers a few days earlier, the last one he had before the shoot. Once everyone else was gone, they had even stayed behind so Hyukjae could give him a few tips here and there.
"Much, much better," he'd said after Yesung had adjusted his moves. Hyukjae had clapped as he turned off the music, approaching him with a smile. "Gosh, I'm a good teacher."
Yesung had laughed, stretching out a hand to timidly grab Hyukjae's. "Yes, you are."
Hyukjae had blushed a little, always loving Yesung's sincere compliments. "Just remember what I told you, and you'll be great," he'd said. "Sorry I can't be there."
"It's fine, don't worry," Yesung smiled at him reassuringly. "I can always just pretend you're watching me. See if that makes me do better."
Hyukjae had just chuckled, leaning in to nuzzle his nose against Yesung's cheek. "I'm always watching you."
Now as he sat in that chair in the shade, he didn't realize his mind had wandered off so much until his makeup artist was done and finally took a step back. With that, he was pulled back to the present, putting on his best smile again before thanking her.
Once he was alone again, he pulled out his phone only to smile at the message Hyukjae had sent him that morning wishing him good luck. Gosh, I really wish you were here, he thought.
He sighed, putting his phone away and closing his eyes for a long second as he tried to relax a little. When he opened them again, he took a quick look around, searching for something to drink and then simply stretched an arm out to grab a new bottle of water.
Just when he was about to crack it open, however, he heard the crew's expression of awe almost in unison, followed by the distant sound of wheels coming to a stop.
He lifted his head, a little puzzled, and when he saw a few of them turning to look at him with a smile, he could only smile back at them confusedly.
His manager laughed out loud. "Ah, Yesung-ssi," he said. "I think that's for you."
The singer quickly stood up, now curious, walking out of the tent to follow everyone's gaze. Yet, as soon as he turned to see what they were all looking at, his face lit up immediately, letting out the warmest roaring laughter at the sight of a very familiar face.
So he walked over to the newly arrived coffee truck, a bright smile plastered on his face as he read the sign on the side. «I'm watching you Aesongie hyung,» it read, and soon the man from the truck also put up a banner with Hyukjae's picture on it.
"Idiot," he mumbled under his breath as he laughed again. He pulled out his phone to take a picture and immediately sent it to Hyukjae.

As he put down back in his pocket, he sighed, content.
"Does anyone want coffee?" He turned around to say. He pointed at the banner of Hyukjae on one side, echoing what it said. "It's Eunhyukie's treat."
He chuckled as he said it, unable to help his beaming smile. As some people from the staff started to line up, Yesung only moved to stand on one side, reading all the signs on the truck as he shook his head in disbelief.
He really is a brat, a part of him thought. Yet, as he re-read the cute nickname Hyukjae used to call him, a warm comforting feeling suddenly spread out from his heart to the rest of his body, making him sigh. But a sweet one.
Yesung wasn't sure whether he wanted to smack him or kiss him first. But as he smiled to himself, he figured he could always do both that night anyway.
And he would.
