Kyo sighed heavily as they walked through the zoo. He listened to Hanajima and Uotani chat with Tohru, completely monopolizing her. This was supposed to be their first date, a special moment in their relationship. They stopped and looked at some tigers. Both of Tohru's friends became enthralled by the large cats, excitedly talking to each other, well Uotani was anyway.
They had their backs turned, now was his chance! He took Tohru's hand and put a finger over his lip, indicating to be quiet before taking off and running into the nearby aquarium building with her in tow. He ran until they were in a secluded tunnel made of glass filled with water and fish of every shape and size swimming over and around them. Tohru looked around her in awe. Kyo felt his chest flutter at the sight of her as the water reflected on her shining eyes. "Finally..." He muttered. Tohru looked at him with confusion.
"Kyo...?" Tohru started to say.
"Sorry... It's just... I know they mean well but first dates are supposed to be about us getting closer. I wanted to spend today with just you. I don't know... Maybe I'm being selfish-" Tohru stopped him by rushing at him and throwing her arms around his chest.
"I wanted to spend time with just you too so... You're not selfish!" She exclaimed. Kyo put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer.
"Tohru..." He whispered before leaning down, meeting her lips with his. Tohru leaned up on her tiptoes and clutched the fabric of his shirt. They were silhouetted by the glow of the water as fish swam around them. He pulled away with a frustrated sigh and they both looked a bit sad. "We should get back. Don't want them to freak out on me." She smiled and hugged his arm as they went to meet up with the other two.
"Where were you?!" Uotani yelled as soon she caught sight of them. "You better not have been doing anything weird to Tohru!" Kyo bushed at the insinuation.
"Just shut up! She wanted to see the fish so I took her to the aquarium!" Hanajima stared him down, obviously not believing his story, and probably sensing his waves.
"I think it's time to head home, Arisa." She said in her usual monotone way. Uotani was a little miffed but agreed. After they parted ways Kyo took her hand and pulled Tohru after him.
"Ummm... Kyo? We live in the opposite direction..."
"We're not going home yet." He stated. They walked until they came upon a small park. Tohru gasped with delight. "Swings!" She exclaimed and ran into the park, sitting down on one of the seats. Kyo watched her with a happy smile playing on his lips and followed, sitting on a swing next to her.
"Did you have fun today?" He asked. She nodded happily.
"Yes! The cats were so cute! Oh, but you were much cuter as a cat! Wait! I mean-!" She stuttered. He tapped a knuckle on the side of her head, stopping her spiral.
"For the record, you are the only person I'll allow to say that." He said which made her giggle lightly. "I'm glad you had fun though. I was worried it was a weird idea but I thought you would like it."
"Maybe we can go again soon, just us two!" She suggested. He gave a soft smile and gently rubbed his thumb against her cheek, causing her to blush deeply.
"I would love that." He replied in a quiet voice. He bought them some crepes and they talked happily until the sun started to set. Kyo stood up and held out his hand for her. She gladly took it but then he pulled her off the swing and into his chest. "I love you, Tohru." He whispered lovingly.
"I love you too." She replied in her sweet voice. He cupped her face in his hands, leaned down, and kissed her again. He took his time during this one, enjoying the taste of her lips as the wind blew softly around them.
