Work Text:
Jotaro was quiet as he turned the television off, not sure what to say after the movie ended.
Sure, he and Rohan had decided together to watch this movie, but neither of them expected it to affect them like it did, and neither of them planned to admit that it scared them.
Rohan got up from the couch after a few minutes of silence, “I’m… going to bed.”
“I’ll be there,” Jotaro replied, not actually moving from the couch.
“Mkay.”
Rohan slowly went up the stairs, leaving Jotaro alone in the almost completely dark living room. Jotaro sat there in silence, not moving until he heard a sound from another area of the house. He immediately let go of the remote, leaving it on the arm of the couch, and went upstairs, not bothering to turn any of the other lights off.
Rohan looked at him as he came into the bedroom, “Did you turn the lights off?”
“… No. Did you want me to?” Jotaro asked, “I can go turn them off.”
“… No, it’s fine leaving them on,” Rohan replied.
Jotaro sat down on the bed next to Rohan, “So, uh, what did you think about the movie?”
“It was interesting, that’s for sure. What about you?”
“It was good, I guess.”
“Mhm.”
The two were quiet, not saying anything more. Rohan looked over at Jotaro, “It was terrifying and I regret watching it.”
“Oh thank god, I didn’t want to be the one to say it,” Jotaro replied immediately, “I’ve decided I hate horror movies, that was awful to watch.”
“Now every time the sink drips I’m going to think it’s a ghost who drowned in my water tank and they’re going to drown me in the bath!”
”Don’t remind me, I’m trying to forget it already.”
”Why did we pick that out of anything else we could’ve watched? We could have watched Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla but no! We picked a movie about ghosts drowning people!”
“Next time we have a movie night, horror is off limits. I’m not watching another horror movie ever in my life.”
“Now I’m not going to be able to sleep because I’m going to keep thinking about the movie,” Rohan said, getting out of bed. He grabbed one of his sketchbooks and sat back down, “Stupid movie.”
“It was awful. The ending was good but the rest of the movie makes it awful.”
“You don’t know how glad I am to not live in an apartment right now. I would move out immediately after watching that movie.”
“Trust me, so would I. I wouldn’t even consider staying if I had to watch that movie, it ruins apartments for me.”
”Any place with a floor above it like that, really.”
Jotaro nodded in agreement, not replying otherwise. He moved and wrapped his arms around Rohan’s waist and rested his chin on the other’s shoulder, “Thank god we have a house.”
The room slowly fell into a comfortable silence, Jotaro watching Rohan draw instead of going to sleep.
Though the events of the movie still played through their minds, leaving them uneasy, they had each other, which was more than enough to eventually overcome the fear of horror movies.
