Where is my Brat?!

Summary:

Once more, the paperwork on his desk had been breeding, and he truly disliked fixing it, so his solution? It was, of course, to get to the one brat he trusted to handle it! But in the end, both Erwin and Eren saw something they both disliked in Levi's paperwork.

Notes:

Work Text:

The day hadn't started great for Levi, or the week for that matter. He was annoyed, like usual. He had been looking for Eren for most of the day, and he had no success. He hadn't seen him since this morning's breakfast, and he needed the brats to help, or he was going to snap and murder someone. More specifically, the people that kept sending disorganized paperwork to his desk.

He hated it.

He couldn't leave it alone either; it was like if you left it alone, it started breeding.

He ignored the cadets keeping their distance; in fact, it made it a lot easier to walk around to see where that damn brat was.

"Damnit! You! Where is Hanji?!" Levi snapped and looked at a cluster of nervous cadets, and at least one of them had the decency to step up and answer him.

"M-M-Major Hanji is in Commander Smith's office," he stammered out, and Levi stormed towards the office, determined to get his brat to help him. Other obligations are damned. He would not suffer the mind-numbing pain of sorting through all those papers; when he also needed to read them and pay attention to what he was signing as well.

Levi slammed the door opened, and Erwin looked up from the papers that seemed to be a problem for him as well.

"Damn your eyebrows! Where is Hanji?" Levi asked and glared at the amused look he got from the LEader.

"Hanji just disappeared with Eren, saying something about wanting his help," Erwin said. Levi didn't even dignify that with an answer, just slamming the doors in anger behind him as he left. He silently cursed as he had missed Hanji and Eren with just minutes.

What Levi didn't seem to notice as he kept running around, looking for Eren, the other Cadets seemed to have picked up on this fact as they kept out of his way.

They informed those that returned to the Base from expeditions or just general errands, as no one wanted to cross paths with a furious Levi. It was nerve-wracking on a regular day, but usually, his attitude was quite mellow since Eren started to follow the Captain around.

Everyone at the HQ had quickly made it a rule to speak to the Captain when Eren was there whit his sparkling eye and a big smile. A smile that their Captain guarded with jealousy. Not that they could blame the man. If Eren had been smiling at them, they would do anything to keep that smile on his cute face.

The news spread fast, and there was now a silent active hunt for the fluffy teen that made Captain Levi in a good mood with just his presence.

A few hours later, having run back and forth between different places and his office, to pick up a paper and read, only to growl in anger and throw it away. He could already see the disapproving look the brat would have on his face, as he did. But currently, he didn't care, he needed some help, and the one that he needed that help from, seemed to have disappeared in thin air.

He knew the brat was somewhere in the Base; he just kept missing him, as he had heard Eren's name a few times, and hurried over, only to see an empty room and no Eren insight.

Levi was currently back in his office and making an even bigger mess of his desk. For some reason, he honestly never gotten around to be good enough to clean his desk because of the papers that always cluttered it. But he had to admit it since Eren showed up and helped him sort it when he had been out, he had grown a bit spoiled.

Since that day, Eren had been the one to sort through them, throwing away everything he knew was nothing but a waste of time even looking at. He knew for a fact that Erwin approved of it since most reports and signed documents before Eren helped him had been a mess. He truly hated to handle it all on his own. Levi would never admit it out loud, but even Hanji, that chaotic mess, had better control over the paperwork than Levi did. Anyone saying anything else, he would stab and then feed to the next titan he saw.

Levi heard a quiet knock and snapped his attention towards the door.

"Come in," Levi grunted in anger. He didn't look up from the desk as he tried to make work of what he thought the higher-ups deemed necessary enough. With them, you would never know; they were too absorbed in the selfishness they rarely paid attention to those in the Military. But paperwork needed to be appropriately done anyway; if they managed to find something wrong with it, they would be in trouble. He would not be the one that has the Military short on everything because he could do his damn paperwork.

Levi, who didn't pay attention as o who walked into his office, looked to the side when he felt some excellent warm hands on his shoulders. Recognizing that feeling since he had pulled many muscles or had a lot of injuries would demand those excellent hands' attention.

"Brat..., where the hell have you been," Levi ground as Eren giggled, and the tension in his shoulders seemed to melt away as Eren worked on it.

"Around, it seemed that today Major wanted my help with everything," Levi leaned back in his chair and tilted his head up. Eren smiled at him with that adorable smile of his as he looked down on Levi. His fluffy brown hair fell like a curtain around them, and Levi couldn't help but sigh, closing his eyes.

"Eren, please fix this mess," Levi said and didn't even open his eyes.

"Of course, anything for Captain," Eren said. Levi almost regretted it when those hands disappeared from his shoulder, but before he could even voice this. Eren grabbed his hands and pulled him towards own couch he had in the office.

Eren gave up a small smile as Levi seemed to follow without telling him anything, as Eren gently pushed his Captain down on the couch.

"You stay there. Do you have a headache, Captain?" Eren looked a bit worried. His Captain looked like shit, and that was saying something because Levi always looked so put together.

"Yes, all day long," Levi grumbled as he laid down. Before he could properly lay down, he realized Eren had put his head in his lap, and he was a bit curious as to what his brat would do. He ground when he felt two wonderful hands on his head.

The last thing he remembered was Eren smiling at him, stroking his hair like the last time his mother had done.

Eren frowned, looking worried as he noticed his Captain had fallen asleep. He had been agitated when he stepped inside the office.

Carefully putting his Captain properöy on the couch, he walked over to the desk. With a scowl, he could see why his Captain had been so angry. He could already see some paperwork be nothing but time-consuming and sent here. Just because they probably didn't have anything better to do that or because he was Captain Levi.

Eren sat down at the desk and started to sort through it. The longer he looked through the papers, the more he frowned. Putting some aside, in different piles, marking them as urgent and non-urgent, he was satisfied.

The piles were significantly smaller than when he had started, so he looked to his left and frowned. Those papers he would take to Commander Erwin were sure that he certainly didn't know anything about these useless reports.

He picked them up and made his way over to his Captain that slept on the couch. Not that he could blame him. Crouching next to his sleeping Captain, he pulled a blanket hanging on the chair that he always used while he spent time reading there in silence.

"Captian, I'm finished for tonight, so I need to get going," Eren mumbled, and Levi groaned and rolled over, not even trying to wake up. On the other hand, Eren was happy about that since he had seen how his Captain had been running low on energy.

Not even daring to do anything else, if his Captain was to find out somehow, he carefully stepped out of the office. Locking the door behind him.

When he was out in the corridor, he saw different cadets and soldiers making their rounds. None of them dared to step up to him, telling him he was up after curfew. Not after seeing he stepped out of Captain Levi's office, holding a stack of papers.

Eren made his way to Commander Erwin's office and carefully knocked so that he wouldn't be too disturbing if he were busy.

"Come in, Eren," he heard, and he blushed a little bit. He knew he was the only one that knocked like that on the door, but to be called out like that was a bit embarrassing.

"Commander," Eren gave him a slight bow, and Erwin waved at him to sit down, and he did, waiting for the Commander to finish with what he was writing. A few moments later, he looked up and sighed.

"Now, what can I help you with, Eren?" Erwin asked, and Eren frowned, laying the stack of papers on the desk.

"Commander, the Captain, was tense today, and I want you to see these reports. In my own opinion, these are useless," Eren said, and Erwin frowned.

The Commander picked up a paper and narrowed his eyes, seeing what was on it, continuing plucking through the stack like it was nothing.

"I see what you mean," Erwin said, glaring at what seemed to the offending reports, and Eren couldn't even fault the Commander for it.

"Captain has fallen asleep, and I helped with sorting through them all, and those reports looked to me like they aren't worth reading," Eren said and looked determined to stand up for his Captain.

"I agree. Has Levi been doing this long?" Erwin asked and spread them all out. They all followed a pattern, a pattern none of them liked.

"Yes, Sir! Captain has approved of me looking through them since I first arrived," Eren said and tapped a paper and put it above another one, and Erwin nodded.

"I see. Well, whenever you see something like this again, come to me, and we can look through it better. For now, leave these here, and we shall look at it better tomorrow," Erwin said, and Eren nodded.

"Of course, Captain is currently asleep; he was when I left at least. I need to get to bed as well," Eren said. Erwin nodded, patting his shoulder.

"Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Let's not say anything yet to Levi, and this will be something we will be doing alone," Erwin said with a pointed look. Eren saluted his Commander in a silent agreement.
