Chapter 1: Four?

Chapter Text

Long ago, Xadia was one land rich in magic and wonder. In the old times, there were only the eight Primal Sources of magic. The Sun. The Moon. The Stars. The Earth. The Sky. The Ocean. And, of course, the two special sources, The Shadow and the Runes

But a thousand years ago, a human mage discovered new magic - the ninth source.

Dark Magic. Said to be the bastardization of Shadow magic, it used the essence within magical creatures themselves to unleash dark power.

Horrified by what they saw, the elves and the dragons put a stop to it. Supported by the angered vampires, who were furious of this twisted version of their time-honoured magic, drove every last human to the west. And so, the continent was divided into Four. In the east, the magical lands of the Elves and dragons. In the west, the divided lands of the human kingdoms. In the north, the underground dwarven cities. And in the south, the twilit lands of the vampires, and their monster underlings.

For centuries, the rulers of the lands defended the borders to their lands.

The Dwarven King, Onus Darkbeard. Know for his ingenuity and many advancements in dwarven technology.

The Vampire King, Strahd Von Zarovich. Feared lord of the night, haunter of dreams, Strahd had ruled the south since magic was formed.

The Dragon King, Avizandum. The humans called him Thunder, for when he spoke, his voice shook the earth and the sky.

But, on the eve of last Winter's Turn, the humans used unspeakable Dark Magic to slay Thunder. Then, without mercy, they destroyed his only egg, his heir the Dragon Prince. Now the Eastern and Western lands of Xadia stands on the edge of all-out war, and all hold a bated breath to see who the North and South side with.
