Work Text:

It was a quiet winter night. The small, white snowflakes were slowly covering everything in the capital city of Japan.

A tall woman, with a very masculine appearance, blond hair and hazel eyes was entering the Tokyo Opera building. She was looking for something… For someone. The first person she saw was Shinjiru, a famous pianist and a close friend.

“Oy! Shinjiru-san!” she said, trying to get the man’s attention.
“Ah, Haruka-san! What makes you come here so late?” the dark-haired man responded happily.
“I was wondering: is Michiru still here?”
“Uhh… No, she left a while ago!” he said.
“Huh, well… Thank you very much! And Happy Holidays!”

The racer left the impressive building heading back to her black car.

“Then where is she? She said she’s working past 10 o’clock tonight…”

Now headed to the main road to her place, Haruka decided it wouldn’t be a drag to pick up some flowers for the other woman. She was thinking maybe red roses, Michiru loves them. Or maybe white? Would that be a better choice.

She didn’t even know! All the time she spent over seas, far away from her loved one, changed her. Something in her feelings for Michiru changed. Was it a bad thing? Would this affect their relationship?
Pulling in the parking spot around the flower shop she saw something she didn’t expect. It was Michiru… With a man. He was tall, maybe as tall as Haruka, brownish hair and looked to be pretty fit. The aqua-haired woman looked so small around him.

Then Haruka felt something. All of the sudden she knew what changed in her feelings for Michiru. It was jealousy… And fear. She was jealous and scared…

What if Michiru was cheating on her? What if that was her boyfriend, what if she had forgotten about Haruka? About everything they have been through… She was scared of losing her, the only person that stayed in her life.

A tear rolled down her cheek.
“Michiru!” she said to herself.

Just then she actually realized what her lover was wearing. It was a blue dress that was covering a little over her knees, matched with a pair of black pantyhose, and over those a long winter black jacket, that was just easy arranged over her shoulders.
Michiru only wore that dress for when they were going on dates. Haruka bought her the dress.

In a moment of anger, Haruka stormed out of the car and walked straight to the two people she has been observing for the last three or four minutes.
She could hear Michiru talking to the guy in a flirty tone, a too familiar tone she would often use when she’d try making Haruka jealous.

“Michiru!” she yelled when she was about ten feet or so away from the other woman.

The woman in question turned around and was shocked. She was looking at her lover. She started smiling after only a couple of seconds.

“Haruka, when did you arrived?”
“That’s not important! Who’s him?” the blonde said, while pointing at the man.
Michiru didn’t answer… She didn’t wanted to tell her. She couldn’t.
“Who is he, Michiru?” she was getting closer to the aqua-haired woman.
“He… He’s just a friend”

In a calming tone, Haruka asked again.
“And what is so urgent that you had to come all the way here, so late at night?”
“Well... um...” she said without looking her lover in the eyes.
“So?”
“Babe, can we discuss this on the way home? Please!”

Haruka left out a loud sigh.

“Ok, let’s go!”
“Good night, Kamiru!” Michiru said to the man before leaving to the car, with her lover.

Once in the car, Haruka turned it on so they wouldn’t freeze, then asked.

“So? Who’s that?”
“He owns a jewelry store.”
“And what has that to do with anything?”
“I was asking him in what conditions I can exchange a ring, in case it’s too small or too big.”

Haruka was confused.

“What ring are you talking about?”

Michiru took out of her purse a small red box. She opened it. There was a ring.

“I planed on doing this tomorrow on our seven years anniversary but I guess it works now too.” she chuckled. “Haruka Tenou, will you marry me?”

Haruka was surprised but also embarrassed. She never expected Michiru to propose on her. Often times, the blond haired woman found herself dreaming of how, one day, she was going to propose on her aqua haired lover. But here she was, frozen, watching Michiru’s facial expression as it went from impatience to disbelief and her hand started to retreat closer to her body.

Haruka realized that it was the right moment to speak.
“Yes! I will marry you! Of course I will!” she said, smiling.

Michiru’s face got bright all of the sudden when she heard the answer, while Haruka hugged her tight.

“I’m… I’m so sorry I reacted that way. I don’t know what came over me!”
“Ara ara~ You were jealous, weren’t you?”

Haruka backed to her sit and put her hands on the steering wheel.
“Of course I was! You are gorgeous and…”
“And?” Michiru said, leaning closer to her lover.
“And I’m afraid not to lose you, because sometimes… Sometimes I can really be a jerk…” the blonde said while starting to tear up.
“No! You are not a jerk! And I never thought about you as such.”
“How not?”
“Because I saw the good in you! Because you were there for me when I needed you the most!” Michiru said, wiping Haruka's tear.
Michiru took Haruka’s hand away from the steering wheel and hold it tight.
“I love you!” the aqua-haired woman said lovingly.
Haruka smiled.
“I love you too!”
“Now let’s go home!”
“Let’s go!”

Notes:

Haruka called the guy in the end. They both had a good laugh out of the situation. =)))

P.S. This is my first work in English so don't hesitate to give me feedback. It would be very appreciated.
