I open my eyes to get ready for another day. Instead of my roof, I see the most handsome man to ever exist. Todoroki Shouto. Now I know, immediately I know, that this is a dream. That I am dreaming. I just stare at him, and he stares back. This feels real. He looks real. But he isn’t real. He’s just a picture I’ve fallen in love with. It hurts, knowing that this isn’t reality. That Todoroki will never be nothing more than a dream. “Who are you?” Todoroki asks me. Instead of responding, because I know it wouldn’t matter either way, I reach out to touch him. Before I can, he flinches, harshly. I pull my hand away. I feel as if I’m about to cry. He’s right here. In front of me. But I still can’t touch him. I can’t even comfort him, from whatever caused him to flinch like that. Probably his father. “Who are you?” He asks once more, with a more curious tone. “I don’t know.” I respond instead of my name. I have no idea why, but it’s what I did. I hesitantly reach out, so slowly it’s as if I’m asking for permission. And I am. He nods, but I still hesitate. I can hear his voice. I see him. But I know, since this is only a dream, that I won’t be able to feel him. None of this is real.
I decide that it doesn’t matter, whether I confirm this is a dream or not. I reach out, I touch his hair. What surprises me is that I can feel it. Feel the soft fluff of his hair, the warmth of his head. I can see in detail the way the strains of his hair move. My face might look weird, by the way my jaw hangs. The way my eyes widen with hope.
Because maybe. Just maybe.. This isn’t a dream. Even if I know it isn’t realistic.
“Do you.. do you have a name?” Todoroki asks, only after I stop playing with his hair. “I think so.” I say, because at this point, I’m not sure of much anymore. “Where are you from?” “Not here, I don’t think.” I sound cryptic, and I can tell Todoroki doesn’t care. He looks.. curious. Confused. Cute^^ “It was a villain.” Todoroki tells me. I was going to ask what he means by that, but then I notice the background. We’re at UA. The same place I dreamed of visiting. I can see the building from here, but it’s not particularly close. I can see Aizawa and Midoriya in the background. They’re staring at me. Me and Todoroki. I can feel something is off. The aura. The vibe. I know, because Aizawa wouldn’t act like this. He would be the one asking questions, not Todoroki. Or maybe Midoriya would be asking them. Not staring in awe, like a child looking at their new favorite toy. Plus, I’m sure Aizawa wouldn’t be looking at me like I’m the hardest math equation. Before I can think about this more, Todoroki continues. “The villain brought you here. To UA. Their quirk. It was supposed to make one of us disappear.” I tilt my head, seeing as the doesn’t explain why I’m here. “But it brought you instead...” Midoriya whispers to himself, as Aizawa comes forwards.
Aizawa, one of my favorite characters reaches out to touch me. He rubs my head, like I did to Todoroki. “This isn’t a dream..” He whispers to himself as I lean into his touch. The statement excites me, seeing as I thought it was something I was supposed to hear.
I’m going to stay here. I get to live with all my favorite people in my favorite anime! But.. will these people keep me close? Like they did in my dreams? Or will I be another background character?
I watch as Midoriya starts to mumble something while he holds onto what looks to be his hero analysis notebook. Aizawa continues to pat my head, as if I was a child starved for someone’s touch. I can see Todoroki poking the man, as if asking for a turn. I can see the look in Todoorkis eyes. It’s almost as if he’s pouting.
Something clicks in Aizawas eyes, as if he’d just realized something. He takes his hand of my head, and whispers to himself. “The villain isn’t here.. his quirk has something to do with dimensions and timelines... and he told us he was gonna make us disappear..” Midoriya brightens, visibly more bouncier than normal, with a sine in his eyes. Not to say there wasn’t one before, but this ones different. “You realized it too, right mr. Aizawa!” Eraserhead nods in response. I look and Todoroki and he shrugs. Todoroki stares at Midoriya, like he’s asking what’s going on. Then I see it. The moment where it clicks for Todoroki.
He suddenly takes ahold of my right hand, and then Midoriya takes ahold of my left one. Aizawa stands in the middle of him. Midoriya’s shine in his eyes, the one that tells you he just figured out an important question, dies. He pouts a bit, probably because he has more questions than before. I wonder why he doesn’t just ask them now. I’m staying here, in this world, now. Aren’t I? They’re all confusing me right now. What are they doing?
It’s creepy, they way they start talking at the same time. “Hey, it’s time to leave now. Wake up.”
And I’m awake.
I see the ceiling, like I was expecting the first time.
I really should’ve known it was just a dream. Even if I prayed and prayed something like that would never happen to someone as boring as me.
But if felt so real... too real.
It was a dream, wasn’t it?
A dream.
